Quarantine tag game

1. are you staying home from work/school?  Yes, from work

2. if you’re staying home, who’s there with you? I’m with hubby and youngest son

3. do you have pets to keep you company?  Sadly no. But I do now have a Thirteenth Doctor action doll 

4. who do you miss the most? My other sons, and grandson; but we’ve been in constant contact via video and/or phone calls

5. when was the last time you left your home?  About 2 weeks ago, when I drove to the pharmacy to collect my prescription 

6. what was the last thing you bought? I’ve been using online services, so you’ll find my last purchase of some fence paint extremely romantic!

7. is quarantine driving you insane or are you finally relaxed? Watching the daily afternoon COVID-19 updates was stressful (gave up when Boris got it) so we dip in and out of the news now. Much more relaxing. 

8. are you a homebody? Yes. To be honest, this is far easier to cope with than being a stay-at-home mother with children under the age of 5; and the technology is way superior to when I had to endure all that. 

9. what movies have you watched recently? Loads. Hang on... let me find out some: “Spider-Man: Far From Home”, all the Indiana Jones films, Harry Potter films, “A Fish Called Wanda”, “The Sapphires”, “Sunshine On Leith”, “Man From UNCLE”, “Yesterday”, “Jumanji”, “Notting Hill”, “The Favourite”, “Love Wedding Repeat”, “Isn’t It Romantic”, “Jojo Rabbit”, “The Hustle”, and far too many war/cowboy films.

10. an event that you were looking forward to that got cancelled? A family holiday at Centre Parcs got cancelled. Never mind, eh. 

11. what’s the worst thing that you’ve had to cancel? Erm. Beyond that or work, nothing that can’t be re-scheduled has cancelled. 

12. what’s the best thing you’ve had to cancel? I haven’t had a proper amount of time off in 4 years, so getting a break in my own home is nice

13. do you have any new hobbies? Not really. I had a load of possible activities ready and waiting to be done. 

14. what are you out of? Energy - personal energy. I’ve had nothing but migraines* to deal with (normally work manages to distract me from them) so I have achieved bugger all

15. what music are you listening to? Hardly any at all. I tend to listen to music when travelling so that’s all gone out the window. I’ve heard more audio drama via Big Finish or BBC Sounds, to be honest. 

16. what shows are you watching? Almost too numerous to mention.The highlights have been “Belgravia”, “Bake Off”, “Father Brown”, “The Repair Shop”, “Wolf Hall”, “Gogglebox”, “The Hit Men”, “Friday Night Dinner”, “This Country”, “The Mandalorian”, “Endeavour”, “Red Dwarf: The Promised Land”, “Ashes To Ashes”, “Richard Osman’s House of Games”, “Six Wives With Lucy Worsley”, “Portrait Artist of the Year” and “The Stranger”. But I totally forgot to watch “Grayson’s Art Club”! *goes to find it on 4od*

17. what are you reading? At the moment I have just finished “Witches Abroad”. Before that, it was some Stephen Fry “Mythos” and Bill Bryson “The Lost Continent”. I’ve worked my way through a couple of m|m fics a friend had recommended; and all the Tiffany Aching books by Terry Pratchett. I’m about to re-read the Doctor/Donna book “In The Blood” 

18. what are you doing for self-care? Crossword puzzles, reading, attempting to learn the ukulele, helping hubby plan his big garden project, encouraging youngest’s latest baking experiment, and some fanfiction writing that might get read by somebody else one day. Plus sleeping*. Loads & loads of sleeping.

19. are you exercising? I intended to. It hasn’t happened yet beyond a walk around the garden

20. how’s your toilet paper supply? Fortunately, I had bought a large pack of toilet paper before all this began, and then youngest found a backup supply, so I am stress-free in that respect. 

21. have you made any changes to your hair during quarantine?  Nah! Although I did order some hair straighteners to stop it ‘wandering’ in unwanted ways

Thanks for the ask! #4: How many words have I written? Mmm, not as many as I’d like ;) but in the neighbourhood of almost a quarter million....well, shit, I had no idea!! LMAO Thank goodness A03 keeps track!  #24: What’s the fav fic I read this year? I read less the busier I get with my own fics, but I have a special spot in my heart for anything @impracticaldemon writes ~ and her fic, ‘Teachings of Demons’ (Hakuouki) is a tour de force. No disrespect to all the other hard-working amazing writers I know ~ Imp has a delightful and engaging writing style. I cannot pimp her work hard enough. ;) Check her out, you will NOT be disappointed.

Whelp. In no particular order, here we go! Natsu Dragneel. (Fairy Tail - manga and anime) Not just eye candy for my icon, Natsu is genuinely caring and a complex person I enjoy learning more about. Westly, aka Dread Pirate Roberts (Princess Bride movie) He’s charming and who doesn’t love a man who says, “As you wish” but actually means, “I love you.” Imma steal one of @impracticaldemon  ‘s answers and say Sam Vimes (Discworld, book series - Terry Pratchett, author) He’s not just a man who stands up for justice, he’s living in accordance with his views. Harry Wells (The Flash) Okay, partly this is because of the hot actor who portrays Harry...Tom Cavanagh. Ooh, handsome man is handsome. You can quote me on that. Harry is a brilliant, sarcastic and talented scientist. Smart guys are hawt. Data (Star Trek the Next Generation) Yup. I love his attempts at understanding and trying to become more human-like. This character has innate innocence and that’s very attractive.

I’m having a bit of quandary, fam, as I’m finishing up my final Snowells prompts... I’ve basically tried to keep the tone light for most of them. But I’ve got one left that is usually a fairly light-hearted prompt and the fic is wanting to go serious. And kinda long. :S

I’ve shuffled this one down to fill others in front of it while I’m debating how to handle it. Go ahead and do it serious/longer? Maybe fill it twice, once with a more light-hearted fill? Maybe see if the requester wants to pick a different couple to have filled a second time?

(Yeah, it’s not that serious but I wanted to use that GIF, lol! ;) )

Also, I thought this would be a good time to sum up what I’ve written so far. I’ll probably do a sort of masterlist once they’re completed but here’s what we’ve had so far!

Well, this particular variation of ReverseFrost don’t play tame, what can I say? :P And the original prompt was for steam, after all... I don’t know. I’ll have to see about that one, lol. ;)

(Seriously, BY FAR more graphic. O_O But it could be a good exercise in trying out something different than my norm and that’s been fun about the rest of these prompts, so... Dunno!)

Anyway, just my thinky thoughts as I’m finishing up these prompts. I’ve had a ton of fun writing them all! ‘Like a Glove’

Caitlin crossed her legs and watched the monitor in front of her like her life depended on her noticing every last detail. It was easy to ignore Iris and Barry - kinda preferred actually - their public displays of affection were getting to be too much to watch. Yes, they were married and their lovey-dovey actions were mostly tame, but sometimes a single girl wanted to not be overwhelmed with someone else's happiness, yeah? 

"Snow. I need your help." 

Cisco waved at Caitlin. "I've got this, go see what Mr. Grumpypants wants." 

"If you're sure." She stood and watched her friend take over her position, bringing up more command prompts and tasking the satellites with a series of orders - all without looking at his friend. "Okay." 

"Umm hmmm." Cisco had already dismissed Caitlin from his consciousness, too busy with searching for the latest meta human who'd had the audacity to attack Central City in broad daylight. 

"Snow, let's go to my lab." Harry left without waiting for an answer, practically stomping out of the cortex.  

Cisco could direct Barry if the newest meta human threat did anything - and Iris could help too - so Caitlin straightened her shoulders and followed Harry.

"I see the gift I got you fits well." 

"How?" Caitlin crossed her arms over her chest and reflexively checked to make sure the door of Harry's lab was shut - it was - she'd shut it herself, but Harry's words made Caitlin need to double-check. "What if that meta suddenly starts going crazy? What if they go bonkers and destroy Central City? Cisco will need us back in the Cortex! He'll -" Caitlin's next words were cut off by the simple efficiency of Harry kissing Caitlin. 

Full of himself (and rightly so), Harry smiled at Caitlin. "You need to relax." 

"A little hard to do when there's a new meta-human on the loose and our team just might decide they need your input." Caitlin did her best to not melt into Harry's arms - one kiss wasn't enough, she wanted more. "I'm not ready to bring us into the open, are you?"

Harry had the effrontery to chuckle. Chuckle. "Hey." Caitlin glared. "I'm serious." 

"So'm I." 

"You don't sound like it." 

"What is with all this distrust?" Harry winked. "I just wanted a little alone time to tell you how nice you look." 

"That's not exactly true." Caitlin gave a withering look to Harry, and if God had chosen to bear witness to that look, Harry would have been instantly turned to salt - or maybe petrified. "You said the gift you got me fits well." 

"And it does." Harry offered his rebuttal in a sinfully smooth drawl. "I know you and there's no way you'd not wear a heart-felt gift as soon as you could after receiving one." 

A little of Caitlin's frost melted. "I am burdened with good manners." 

"And that's why I love you." 

"Wow. I can't believe you're telling me that for the first time in your lab, with a meta human on the loose and our team who might burst in here any second." Caitlin rubbed her forehead. "You're too much." 

"That's where you're wrong." Harry squeezed Caitlin, positively mashing her flat to his chest in a warm hug. "I like to think I'm just the right amount." 

"I hope the new meta human does something soon or gives up." 

"Ah, good to know we're on the same page." Harry smiled. "Then I can see first hand if your new bra and panty set fits as well as I imagined." 

"Do you think Cisco, Iris, and Barry will notice if we just disappear?" 

"Truthfully, yes." Harry shrugged. "But ask me if I care."

Caitlin stood on tiptoe, threw her arms around his neck. "Later." She kissed Harry with all the attention he deserved. Everything could be decided later - much later. Right now, all she cared about was the man in her embrace.
