sorry for the long read but this is important (aka lets talk about plagiarism)
hello! so, if anyone remembers the other day i posted a lil snippet for a smutshot involving remus/sirius/james. originally, someone got very upset about the lack of tags and accused me of writing SA—it was not SA, it was teasing someone and edging them, but i digress. people misread things all the time and thats whatever—and they privately messaged me accusing the same thing and saying i needed to tag better as i had triggered them. i deleted the post not wanting to upset anyone else, apologised for upsetting them then whilst trying to explain my work and explain how it wasnt SA, they blocked me. that's fair and i moved on learning my lesson as i clearly did something wrong.
what isn't fair, is rewriting said work for yourself and posting it on YOUR ao3 account.
i was sent the story and commented:
you deleted this post almost immediately and proceeded to say it isn't plagiarism. this is the definition of plagiarism btw:
that's what you did. it's the exact same scenario, it's a threesome, and the dialogue is VERY similar. the premise for the scene is the same. I've got some screenshots of both works below to highlight this:
MINE:
THEIRS:
now this isn't word for word, obviously, and theirs is a longer one shot with other plot points involved, but these scenes are similar. the dialogue in particular is similar. its a slap in the face honestly; to be given shit by someone and then see that they decided to use it for themselves.
there is always consent in my work, i've never had anyone say before that this is an issue as my finished works have discussions of safe words and safe sex and boundaries. pretty much everything i've ever written that involves sex has a conversation regarding safe words. i clearly tagged it wrong and i will admit that. i will take the blame for that and tag accordingly from now on.
but you used my work for your own. and also (since you added this to the ao3 post i'll include it) you admitted to using my work:
'inspired by some drama'
YOU REWROTE WHAT I MADE. YOU USED SIMILAR DIALOGUE. THE SAME SETTING. YOU JUST MADE IT YOUR OWN AND ARE ACTING LIKE THAT ISN'T PLAGIARISM??
like—
just because you didn't think i would 'appreciate' being mentioned does not mean you do it?? you literally admitted to 'tweaking' it and writing it yourself. this is such stupid fucking drama and so unnecessary what did you want to gain from this??
do not use other peoples fucking work. SIMPLE.
also i shouldnt have to say this but dont give this person shit. dont send hate in my name, its not worth it and not the point of this post whatsoever .im not naming them, they know who they are even if they've blocked me. i dont care if you see this, honestly i hope you see it. just please take plagiarism seriously because its annoying af and weird
ANYWAY have a lovely day <3

fic writer interview!
shamelessly yoinking from @karliahs bc this looks fun as hell to do :]
How many works do you have on AO3?
32 fics total, between my main and rough draft pseud!! which feels like a really small amount, honestly-- i think my private WIPs list is MUCH higher 😂😂😂😂 if we're counting my very first (and very abandoned) ao3 acct too, then that number is bumped up to 35!!
What's your total AO3 word count?
163,211, and a good 65k of that was written this year somehow??? according to my statistics ._. lowkey crazy to think about
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
paid for it with all of my blood (BNHA | 8,452)
at times so self destructive (BNHA | 4,554)
lost in the dark (he's got a heavy heart) (HC/LIFE | 3,618)
or we can just have conversation (MSA | 1,834)
the art of rawgabbitry (BNHA | 1,609)
if youve been following me since my bnha fics in 2018 you deserve a veteran's discount
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i used to answer every single comment i got, honestly, unless it came by years after i posted it-- the only reason i dont as much anymore is because it gets REALLY overwhelming for me to respond to everyone after the initial barrage 😅😅 the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak etc etc. but i do read every comment and appreciate them SO SO MUCH, and whenever i find one particularly moving or want to just reassure people im still working on something i'll respond to those :]
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
not counting the wips that just never got finished and left off before their main shit could resolve, id say at times so self destructive (BNHA)-- i mean i LITERALLY ended it with izuku potentially dying 😭😭😭😭
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
tbh i dont think i write happy endings so much as i write hopeful, bittersweet, or open-ended ones-- i tend to like catharsis more than fluff when it comes down to it. but out of my fluff fics i think honey it's starting to storm (HC) is one of the genuinely sweetest ive written. my runner-ups on that would probably be when the smoke does finally pass (TMA) and or we could just have conversation (MSA) :]
Do you write crossovers?
not typically, and ive never published any, but i am definitely not immune to them 😂😂😂😂 i think my most niche crossover ive actually written (never to see the light of day) was a Nine Lives of Chloe King and Supernatural fic that was the definition of self-indulgent rot. only a little less niche than that was a Mortal Instruments and Supernatural crossover (theres a running theme here lol) lying in snippets on an ancient google doc in my oldest gmail acct. reread that one recently and its shockingly coherent for being written in like. 2016. id even call it decent (though theres a lot id change up if i were writing it now)
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
idk if it'd be considered hate but once i wrote a fic inspired by someone else's when i was very new to ao3, let them know (i didnt know about the "inspired by" option back then), and they got mad at me in my comments section because in their words, "its better than mine" 😭😭😭😭💥💥💥💥💥💥
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
YOU COULD SAY THAT
as for what kind, honestly whatever strikes my fancy-- usually character/relationship studies, or just a fun focus on character intimacy. love 2 be asexual<3 love 2 write asexual sex<3
i had a discussion with my qpp recently about how in all honesty the smut i write is pretty tame, its just the character emotions written behind it that makes it feel a bit deranged. smth smth scarian is a chemical explosion. u understand
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to my knowledge!!!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
yeppers!! the art of rawgabbitry (BNHA) received a translation to Russian, which i always found a bit funny because rawgabbitry is. one of my least favorite works ive ever written, if only for the type of comments it tended to receive back in the day 😭😭😭😭
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
ive never managed it honestly-- i get a bit precious about my process, which can make it hard to collaborate on that level. but its something ive always wanted to grow enough as a writer to try :]
What's your all-time favorite ship?
not so much of a singular OTP type of guy as i have favorite pairings per fandom im in-- that being said rn its scarian :P
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
pretty much all of my dsmp wips honestly. i may surprise myself someday, but for now i just have zero urge to actually finish any of them
What are your writing strengths?
like my pal karliahs im gonna rip these from the comments ive received 😅😅😅 but id definitely say imagery is my strongest skill!! i have a very strong imagination, and tend to see fic scenes as movie scenes in my head which i then transcribe into written format. id like to say im also really skilled at characterization and realistic dialogue that captures character voices very well!! and frankly i just love emotional realism so much i cant NOT write it, its always leaking into everything i do
What are your writing weaknesses?
i tend to get a little too funky and abstract with my descriptions sometimes-- that can work for some scenes, but grounding everything so that it feels more real and makes actual sense to the reader is something i often have to do on the second, third, and final passes
also to every person who has to crack open a thesaurus to understand what i write, i am so fucking sorry😭💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
no thoughts beyond if its not a language you're proficient in you should probably get that checked over by a native speaker, just in case :P
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
fairy tail..... ff.net was a dark place
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
crying sobbing wailing as i desperately beg my brain to start writing that post-canon siffrin and odile relationship study. unfortunately i dont think i can have more than one longfic on my docket at a time so it shrimply must wait
What's your favorite fic you've written?
to the surprise of absolutely nobody, i'd have say lost in the dark (he's got a heavy heart) (HC/LIFE) :]
No obligation, but im tagging: @raichett, @kayawolfhorse, @boonbeenblade, @sillyfairygarden, and @grimfey !!! And anyone else who wants to do this ofc :]]]❤️❤️❤️❤️

WIP Weekend Snippet
The title says WIP but this bitch is FINISHED
Anyway, here's a little sneak peek at my Modern Steve in 80s Hawkins fic--- now titled "(if someone asked me at the end) i'd tell them put me back in"--- as I prepare to begin posting to ao3
Steve glances over his shoulder only to meet the barrel of a gun. He stiffens and drops Dart, trusting the demonspawn to land on his feet, before shoving Eddie behind him as well. “What do you think you’re doing?!” Steve hisses, glancing at the street to make sure nobody else can see Nancy pointing a gun at him. “I knew something was up,” Nancy says, her eyes narrowing as she rolls her shoulder to push Mike’s hand off. “You have two seconds to explain the demodog before I blow your head off.” “Okay, first of all, two seconds is not nearly enough time to explain anything,” Steve says, and because humor has never failed him before, he adds, “And, honestly, you’re not my first choice for any kind of blowing.” He hears a snort from behind him and can’t help a slight grin even as Nancy becomes visibly more confused and Mike scrunches his nose in disgust. “What the fuck are you talking about?” Nancy asks, her hands lowering slightly, which Steve would take as a win if the gun wasn’t now pointing at his dick. He can even feel the phantom pain of getting his dick blown off, and it takes every ounce of control to not cover his crotch with his hands. “It’s called humor. Great for diffusing situations,” Steve explains, keeping his eyes on the gun and praying Nancy doesn’t accidentally pull the trigger. “Look, I get it. That’s a scary puppy that just jumped on me, and you’ve dealt with much meaner ones before, but can we please take this inside? I promise you can keep threatening to shoot my dick once we’re off the porch.” That, apparently, is what gets Nancy to realize where she’s pointing. She hesitates for a few seconds before clicking the safety back on and lowering the gun.
I'm in the process of moving, so I'm not sure when exactly I'll be able to post the first chapter, but it'll definitely be in the next few days!
In the meantime, you can either subscribe to my ao3 or keep an eye on my Tumblr for a link when it is posted!

Hello, friend!!! I hope things have gotten at least a little better for you 💖
Meanwhile, for the fanfic writing asks: 1, 7, 10, 22, 29, 37, 72 (the questions are truly so good, haha, stopping now)
Thanks pal, I had a couple days off which was nice! Unfortunately I had to go to the vet again lol
(there are so many good questions haha!)
1. Do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the idea strikes?
I do both, but I will say going for it as soon as the idea strikes yields more finished projects than when I spend a lot of time daydreaming about it because sometimes it's like, so vivid I end up not writing anything because I got to "read" the fic already haha
7. Post a snippet from a wip
I gotta be honest all the wips I've been working on the last couple weeks are smut lol, but I did really enjoy this bit! (completely sfw)
The man had a pep to his step as he kicked the door shut behind them and led Genshin into the messy living space, knowingly stepping over every pile of miscellaneous items littering the floor without sparing any of them a passing glance.
Mikotoba had the patience of an angel to deal with such clutter.
“You can lay him down here," Sholmes gestured to a pink chaise lounge. It had a dark stain on one cushion and singe marks down the front legs. “Coffee, and a tiny – nay, miniscule – fire, neither a thing to worry about." Sholmes explained without prompting while gesturing with wide hand movements the entire time.
10. Do you work on multiple wips or stick to one fic at a time?
I typically jump around between ideas, but if I'm trying really hard to focus on something I will only work on it for as long as I can until it's finished or I get distracted
22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
This one really fluctuates and is partially dependent on if I have a brand new document open or if I'm just adding onto a LONG document full of miscellaneous ideas and wips. It's so chaotic but that's usually what I do when I first get into something so I can just pump out all my thoughts as quickly as possible and focus on the ideas I really like haha. Brand new documents I need to title otherwise it annoys me to see "untitled document" in my list
Sometimes I have the title before I have anything written (and sometimes that results in the title changing), sometimes I come with it while writing and immediately title the document/section of long ass document as such, and sometimes I'm staring at the AO3 page like "oh yeah I forgot to come up with a title"
Fic titles aren't difficult for me tho, I really love coming up with them! They are usually play on words around the fic premise, or just puns or references haha, and occasionally I'll do song lyrics titles. But yeah titling fics is no problem for me, it's titling original content that I can never think of anything
29. What's something about your writing that you're proud of?
37. What fic has been the hardest for you to write?
Honestly I'm just proud of ever writing at all haha. For the most part I really enjoy rereading my own writing and it's just a nice sense of accomplishment when I finish an idea since honestly I finish like <5% of my wips. So many ideas end up just being a title/summary/a few paragraphs written down before it's unfortunately abandoned for presumably forever haha
So yeah I'm proud of ever finishing stuff
Definitely "The extension of your soul in my unworthy hands" oh man writing fight scenes is difficult lol. I was pretty proud of that fic at the time despite the difficulties writing, but I haven't reread it in a while so idk how well it held up to my standards
72. What's your favorite writing compliment you've gotten?
I have been lucky to receive a lot of beautiful and sweet comments on my writing (that I unfortunately am. So bad at responding to and I'm looking at the timestamps screaming from how long they've been....) but one that stands out was a mutual telling me that my prose is straightforward and emotional but doesn't linger for longer than usual and I about died receiving such a professional critique.
I.. want to respond to old comments so so badly but I'm afraid haha, especially since I'll have to apologize in all of them oTL
#thanks for asking!#also I started answering this right when I got it but kept getting distracted so sorry it took a couple days haha

List of Works-In-Progress I'm still intending to write/actively writing 📃✨
or my accountability list to look at in a few months...
last updated: 09/04/24
Fandoms: 🚒 9-1-1 [5-7 works], ✈️ Top Gun (movies) [9 works], 🔪CoD (reboot only for now) [4 works]
Already posted on AO3, ongoing works:
✈️ Top Gun, hangster — (sometimes I feel) like a monkey pilot, trans!Rooster fic with a hangster confrontation (and getting back together), 6 years after Rooster's transition. When recalled to Top Gun. #(sif) lamp tag
✈️ Top Gun, hangster, slow down (you're doing fine) — Rooster-centric/character study fic with Getting Back Together trope and past-hangster flashbacks and icemav as parents #slow down tag
✈️ Top Gun, hangster — just hold my hand, outsider Mav POV, kind TG:M retelling AU
Bradley and Jake are married and have four kids and Mav didn't know about any of it until the special detachment because he and Bradley haven't talked in years. Things happen and Mav gets to be a grandpa. (vague, unspecified kind of mpreg is in this story)
*
Planned out and started sequels/bonuses, not posted yet:
✈️ Top Gun, icemav — bonus for slow down (you're doing fine)
It is the 5+1 icemav prequel from the slow down universe I talked about, I just don't seem to finish it (it's really hard to write Ice POV...)
The 5 times Ice waited for Mav to be ready and 1 time Mav realized he'd been ready for a while.
✈️ Top Gun, hangster — sequel for slow down (you're doing fine)
The weeks after Bradley and Jake decide to try being together again, mostly trying to figure out how to be together in a way that is healthier and more honest. Including meeting the parents (icemav), meeting the sister (Jake's), and Nat's judgment.
✈️ Top Gun, hangster — sparks (working title), sequel/bonus for ignition, the firefighter! Bradley AU #ignition tag
Done in snippets/drabbles. The adventures of firefighter!Bradley and still a naval aviator!Jake, which would include the world cockblocking them from finally going on their first date (5 times they had to cancel their date, and 1 time didn't), the awkward first times, as well as Bradley lecturing Jake on safety a little bit too often (and Jake finding it hot...)
*
Started writing, but haven't posted yet and don't know if I'll ever finish it even if I want to:
🔪 CoD, ghostsoap — exhumation, different first meeting and (kinda) secret identity AU — overview here, a snippet here
Written in a flashback/present sequence. Soap and Ghost met when they were just Johnny and Simon, starting in the Army. From dates, to sharing a Manchester flat, ending with Simon being MIA in Mexico for months, they'd been together through a lot. But the Christmas Eve Simon's family, bar Johnny, is killed, he chooses to die with them and never put anyone in danger. Years pass, and Soap joins TF-141.
🔪 CoD, ghostsoap — don't shoot me, santa, first Christmas Ghost spends with the MacTavish family (and first Christmas he spends with anyone in almost 10 years) and all its troubleshooting — overview here
Johnny takes Ghost to Scotland to spend their first Christmas together. Johnny's family is not too thrilled about Ghost — about the mask he wears, about the job he has, about the family he doesn't have, about how faceless he is, even to Johnny. Ghost decides that Johnny is worth taking the mask off and starting living as Simon again.
🚒 9-1-1, buddie — brand new information, the 5+1 jealous!Eddie fic — a snippet here
5 times Eddie found something new about Buck's taste in men (and was ridiculous about it) and 1 time he found out Buck's type (Eddie)
Used to titled in my drafts 'eddie trying to prove he matches bucks taste in men'
🚒 9-1-1, buddie — the cure series, a canon-divergence au after Wrapped in Red with a side of trans!Buck
Part 1, 'cause boys don't cry, a snippet here — Buck decides to leave the 118 after Wrapped In Red in order to stop defining himself by the people he loves and learn to live alone and both succeeds and fails at it. Includes Buck long-distance parenting Chris, Eddie feeling like a long-distance spouse whose husband refuses to stop taking long-distance jobs, jealous!Eddie, Maddie&Eddie bestism, and people all over the States assuming Buck is divorced. Longest part of the series and the most angsty one.
Part 2, like I'm home again, a snippet here [coming soon??] — future fic, Buck is back at 118, he and Eddie are married, Chris is choosing colleges, and Bobby is trying to get Buck into leadership training so he can retire. And then, Eddie enters what Buck and Chris think is a mid-life crisis, but is in reality a baby fever.
Part 3, untitled, a snippet here — future fic, outsider POV from a new probie at the 118. Captain Diaz and Lieutenant Diaz are running the firehouse, but their family, including kids, Buck's not-dad and retired captain Bobby, keep on popping up and confusing the new probie. Buck also pulls a Bobby and 'adopts' the new probie.
Parts probably won't be posted in order.
🚒 9-1-1, buddie — accidental trans pregnancy, a short one-shot based on a meme post.
Buck is nauseous, Chim makes a joke (not knowing Buck is trans and have been dating Eddie for a few months now), and Eddie has a metaphorical heart attack at the table.
🚒 9-1-1, buddie — Buck wants to be a parent and thanks to Connor, he realizes he can be a parent without finding a partner first — overview here
The most ridiculous fic idea I've had the desire to write. Involves trans Buck, sperm donor arc in reverse, Eddie doing mental summersaults to be said sperm donor.
🚒 9-1-1, buddie — AU for the post-lawsuit arc, with buddie already being a couple before the lawsuit — snippet here [coming soon??]
Buck takes the settlement and becomes a (maybe temporary) househusband/stay-at-home-dad. This would be centred on Buck, but would not have the crew bashing, but rather a realistic view on how everyone feels and how the lawsuit and settlement deal would affect the team, etc.
✈️ Top Gun, hangster — with arms wide open, omegaverse mpreg that follows the TG:M storyline (kinda) — overview here
(in my head, this fic is very soap opera-like, but I like it this way so...) Bradley and Jake had been together 7 years with no mating, no marriage, and or no even just meeting Jake's family, and Bradley was okay with it. Until he found out he was pregnant. So when Jake doesn't want anything to change, Bradley leaves and seeks help from the only person he can think of — Ice. Cue the wayward son getting reconciled, a few months passing, and by the time Bradley meets Jake again, he's six months pregnant.
*
Drafted only but I still want to write it sometime:
✈️ Top Gun, hangster — Pacific Rim AU — a tag for this fic is #hangster pacific rim au
History repeats itself — Mav loses his drift partner and raises his kid and years later, Bradley loses his drift partner and raises her kid (with a twist). Mav doesn't leave PPDC, but Bradley does — at least until Ice shows up telling him the world is ending, this time for good. Featuring Jake being both Bradley's fanboy and a tsundere (ala Chuck about Raleigh) and weirdly good with kids and the typical mortifying ordeal of being seen during the drift.
✈️ Top Gun, hangster — sequel for (sometimes I feel), like a monkey pilot, that would dive into the idea of Jake and Bradley starting a family
I'll make a post about this at some point because there are so many ways this could be written. I do think that they're the type that would have an accidental pregnancy, but there are so many ways this could happen (on deployment, right before deployment, cryptic pregnancy, with some miscommunication involved - I think they're dumb enough any of it seems feasible)
🔪 CoD, ghostsoap, possible side gazprice?? — blindsided, tattoo artist/florist au but not really, with a misunderstanding twist
Where Ghost and Soap are both ex-military, Ghost and Price have a tattoo shop, and a street away what they think is a florist shop opens. Totally self-indulgent because I wanted to give Ghost a full-body skeleton tattoo, skull-face tattoo included. I have absolutely no other details besides this, this is slightly recycled from another fandom...
🔪 CoD, ghostsoap — with lights off, a longer one-shot about Simon and Johnny still being badass even if retired from the military
Retried, Simon and Johnny move to Glasgow and start a family. While Johnny still craves the adrenaline and works with the Glasgow Organised Crime and Counter Terrorist Unit, Simon rides among the streets as a paramedic in the Motorcycle Response Unit and only shows up when the guns and stabs are done. That is, until the day when Johnny and his team are taken hostage in a terrorist attack and he's the first responder on scene and The Ghost is needed again.
There are probably a few more in this category and in the kinda-abandoned-but-not-really category, I never fully abandon my works but I'll leave it at that for now
#i need holidays#gonna add this to my masterpost#i feel like ill be judged by the amount of trans pregnancy here but as a trans dude who wants to eventually get pregnant#and has regular baby fevers and can't find fics about it written the way I need#i've stopped caring#buddie#hangster#ghostsoap#(sif) lamp tag#ignition tag#slow down tag#charlie writes#cod#top gun#911 fox

Fic Writer Interview 📝
tagged by @brawngp2009 ! Thank you, it was fun!
Heads up, I'll be keeping this to my F1 writing only! --
How many works do you have on AO3? 7 😎 What's your total word count? The ao3 stats page tells me it’s 30 302. My writing programme tells me there's 20k more in wips but that includes notes and stuff that aren’t really fic writing What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Isn't the stats page so great? Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I do! I don’t always see them right away, but I like to say thank you to each person who takes the time to let me know they read and enjoyed something I wrote :) What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? I’m not sure... I don't really have any fic that ends angstily, but I guess the closest would be either Winter Pitstop or Head in the clouds? They’re more ambiguous than angsty, though… What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending? I’d say Eyes on the prize has the happiest ending out of the current finished ones. Do you write crossovers? I don't write actual crossovers, but I love crossover AUs! I tend to draw them more than write them, though. Have you ever received hate on a fic? No. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Hell yeah!!! I only started writing smut "properly" in the past couple of years, it can be very challenging but that makes it extra rewarding when it's done. As for what kind, just m/m so far. I’d like to diversify it one day, but who knows... Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not a full fic, but lets just say there's a reason I no longer share WIP snippets. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not to my knowledge. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, but honestly all my fics are so rooted in what Ghost and I come up with together that she might as well be a co-writer. What's your all-time favourite ship? Simi. I was definitely not planning on being so incredibly compelled by a ship of two older retired blond drivers, but here we are. The lore is incredible and I learn something new every day, the parallels are out of this world, the reason a megapost is so hard to write is because there is truly SO much. But also their love is so refreshing! Most of my fandom life was spent stuck in ships that were doomed from the start/impossible so Simi is really freeing for me. What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? I sure hope I’ll finish all of them! What are your writing strengths? Not to toot my own horn, but I think I’m pretty good at “show, don’t tell” in a way that the reader can put the dots together without me spelling it out for them. For example, I think I make it pretty obvious that Seb and Kimi love each other, even if they don't say it and the word "love" itself barely shows up in my writing. What are your writing weaknesses? Grammar and punctuation, especially in regards to dialogue. English isn’t my first language and I learned writing in a different style, so it can be pretty difficult. Also prepositions like on/in/at are a nightmare. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? Like everything else, it depends on how it’s done. I’ve seen fics where it’s used really well in the context and heightens the experience, and others where it’s just unnecessary. Personally, I’d have to be really sure that the language is correct before I used it, and really sure that it fits the situation in the fic. What was the first fandom you wrote for? As far as you’re concerned, F1 is my first fandom ;) What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to? Honestly I’m just here for Simi. No other F1 pairing inspires me to write. What's your favourite fic you've written? You never forget your first, right? Winter Pitstop is still my personal favourite. Maybe it will lose that spot once I finally write and post the sequels I planned last year.
-- I'm not sure who has been tagged already, so i tag @racingghost and whoever else sees this!

20 Questions for Fic Writers Tag Game
@birdylion tagged me :D
1. how many works do you have on AO3?
56.
2. what’s your total AO3 word count?
440,219
3. what fandoms do you write for?
There've been quite a few over the years. Currently Goblin Emperor (slightly on the back burner while I unkink my writer's block) and Hands of the Emperor (just started dabbling, nothing posted yet). Before that Merlin, Green Rider, Realm of the Elderlings, Doctor Who, and Harry Potter predominantly, with little dips into Discworld, Sherlock, Sweep, Supernatural, Percy Jackson, Lady Trent, Life on Mars, Old Kingdom, Life on Mars, and MASH. I have some Narnia stuff kicking about in my drafts somewhere, and while I've never posted it I've been writing Animorphs fanfic for years.
4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Stairs Beneath the Heart: Goblin Emperor, a series of vignettes that runs parallel to the canon that I posted through the start of the pandemic and really enjoyed. It was the first time in ages I'd had a regular posting schedule, and the first time ever I'd had that much fandom attention on something I was writing - everyone was so lovely <3.
Take These Tower Stones: Goblin Emperor, the sequel to the above, a much more coherent and consistent story which everyone was again really supportive of <3
What Friends Are For: Discworld; Angua gives Vetinari the shovel talk. There's a big disparity in the stats between the previous two fics and the rest, so these last three were a surprise to me! I'm glad people liked them though :)
Fire in the Night: Merlin, somewhat angsty nightmare/comfort oneshot. Again, surprised to see this one so near the top, but pleasantly so.
The Michen Emperor: Goblin Emperor again, currently the bane of my existence because I can't seem to finish it (I will eventually, just need to unstick my brain). Really appreciate all the love people have shown it. Basically, what if canon but with smol!Maia.
7. what’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably either Take These Towers Stones, or Red Sky (which is a tiny little snippet of fluff).
8. do you get hate on fics?
I've had a few shitty comments, and mostly I've just deleted them. I've never had any extended hate campaigns or anything, just people who mistakenly thought their dislike was worth expressing.
9. do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Occasionally; usually though not always queer, normally pretty tame. I read smut usually without worrying about the warnings, but I'm a bit too shy to comment on it, and I think that extends to my writing, haha. Maybe I'll get the hang of it some day :)
10. do you write crossovers?
Nah, for some reason they don't work for me at all - almost a squick, I don't read them either. The closest I got was considering a fic where the characters from Green Rider had diplomatic contact with the characters from the Chronicles of Ixia series, but I never ended up getting there.
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don't think so - I should probably put in my Ao3 that people are welcome to if they like, I keep forgetting. I'd be honoured if anyone wanted to.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope; I'm very picky and not good at compromise, though it's something I'd like to work on one day. It'd have to be very low stakes and with someone very patient!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
Lines of Silver and Gold (Realm of the Elderlings) is probably my oldest fic that is both posted and unfinished, and I have no current plans to work on it. I'm hoping that one day I'll be able to come back to it, but that book series was my thesis topic and unfortunately I rather burnt myself out on it, so it might be a long while.
The Queen Rider series was originally going to have two more fics, but those have been scrapped; fortunately it resolves quite nicely as is. Maybe I will put up a little misc fic with what I do have of the rest some day.
And on a more positive note, my Animorphs fic - it was originaly going to be a full written-through story spanning a considerable post-canon period, but unfortunately I lost the original in a harddrive failure and while I rewrote some of it I rather lost my enthusiasm for it. However, I have been reconsidering lately and might post what exists as a series of loosely connected vignettes; we'll see.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue is what I find easy and what I've received the most compliments on; I think this is because a lot of my fic is drafted "out loud" before I get anywhere near setting it to page, so the first iteration is often predominantly speech. I'm also often told I'm good at mimicking the tone of the canon, if I'm writing for a book fandom.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Research (I'll do it if it's something that will otherwise potentially hurt people, but other than that I have neither the effort nor the inclination), and making things messy - that is, I tend to tidy things up a lot and I'm not good at letting my characters get things wrong/communicate badly/etc. Good for fix-its, less good for creating challenges in the story.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I am depressingly monolingual so I don't do it in my fics; as to what everyone else does I think they should have fun and do whatever they like, I suppose. Not enough knowledge to have more of an opinion than that.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter was my gateway fandom.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Ohhhh tough one. I'm immensely proud of the Keystone series (The Stairs Beneath the Heart and Take These Tower Stones), so they're solid candidates, but I also really like The Shadow of the Mountains (Lady Trent) and Miracles (Realm of the Elderlings), the latter of which contains possibly my favourite line of prose I've written.
I'm tagging @the-tao-of-fandom, @pipuhattar, @alittlefellowinawideworld, @nonasuch, and anyone else who'd like to answer!

Hey. It's been a while since I've written something and I wanted to put this out there because I finally finished this snippet I've had for years now. This story is part of a much bigger world I created for them and if you'd like to see more of it maybe I'll post more in the future. Hope you enjoy it x
Read on AO3
The floorboards creak softly as Beca tiptoes down the hallway, trying not to be too loud. She walks to the doorway where the source of the sounds were coming from. She opens the door to her right slowly and peeks her head into the room.
“Hey baby boy, what’s the matter?” She says, entering the room quickly, making sure to leave the door open a crack so she can exit quietly.
She makes her way over to the toddler bed and crouches down next to it, surveying the little boy in tears. He reaches out for her and she happily accepts him as he crawls into her lap.
“What’sa matter? Why are you sad? Hmm?” Beca asks as she begins to stroke his back in slow circles, now fully sitting on the floor.
“It’s okay sweetheart, it’s okay.” Finn seems to calm down under Beca’s touch, sniffling and breathing heavy against her chest as tears continue to fall from his eyes. She begins to hum softly, rocking back and forth.
*****
Chloe stirs in her bed reaching out for her girlfriend. After a moment she sits up, groggily looking to the alarm clock to find that it’s only 2:47 in the morning, far too early to be awake. The bedroom door is open she notices, so she turns on the light and prepares to get out of bed. She pads across the room with a yawn, eager to find Beca at this late hour. As she enters the hallway, she notices Finley’s door cracked open and some indistinct whispers were coming from the room. She tiptoes down the hall and peeks her head in. Chloe’s eyes welled up with tears as she watched Beca lay next to her son, rubbing his back while humming the tune of “you are my sunshine”. She watches a moment longer before she backs out of the room, leaving it open a crack. Her heart swells as she tip-toes back to her bedroom. A warm smile on her face as she continues to replay the moment in her head.
It was only a minute or two later when Beca returns to the bedroom, a worried look on her face as she closes the door behind her. Chloe stands to greet her.
“I’m sorry I didn’t wake you,” Beca says in a whisper. “You just had a long day and I just wanted you to get some rest, he was pretty upset so I thought I’d just-“
Beca’s words were cut off by Chloe’s body colliding with hers. “Thank you.” Chloe whispers softly into her girlfriends hair. “I..I love that you just did that.”
Beca pulls out of the hug and places her hands on her girlfriends waist. Chloe smiles and cups Beca’s cheeks with her hands stopping to wipe a tear that slid from her own eye. The pair join lips in a soft dreamy kiss.
“Baby…” Beca purrs, slowly guiding Chloe backwards until the backs of her knees hit the edge of the bed and she sits down.
Chloe holds onto her arm and slowly pulls her forward, into another kiss.
“I just can’t believe how good you are.” She whispers scooting away from Beca to her side of the bed.
“Well I try.” Beca giggles as she follows her, sliding under the comforter as Chloe eagerly slides under the covers and into Beca’s side tucking in close. Beca reaches over Chloe to shut off her nightstand light before sliding down, Chloe still hugging her body tightly. Beca holds her girlfriend and listens to the soft sounds of her breathing.
She’s slowly beginning to drift off until she feels something wet on her chest. She waits a brief moment before reacting, only until she feels another wet drip join the first and run down the valley between her breasts.
“Sweetie? Hey, what’s going on?” She speaks softly to the redhead laying on her chest. Beca begins to rub her girlfriends back in circles, her go to comfort tactic. Chloe sniffles,
“I just never thought I’d find someone like you. Someone that loves not only me, but also my son, and you do.”
Beca’s heart skips a beat as she thinks about the two of them.
“Baby, of course I do. You two are without a doubt the two most important people in my life. I care about that little boy like he’s my own, and I hope that one day, he can be.”
“Really?” Chloe says, fully rolling on her stomach so she can better look at Beca, resting her chin on her collarbone and looking into her deep blue eyes.
“Of course, I…I kinda think you’re it for me Chlo.”
“Beca..” Chloe says, her bright blue eyes welling up with tears.
“Don’t cry baby,” Beca says running her hands through her girlfriends hair as Chloe snuggles closer, wrapping an arm around Beca’s torso.
“I just can’t believe you feel that way about me.”
“I really do.” Beca says, her own eyes welling up with tears. She leans down and presses a soft kiss to Chloe’s forehead.
“I feel that way about you too…just so you know.” Chloe says after a moment.
“Oh I know.” Beca smiles and pulls Chloe in to hug her tighter.
Chloe continues to sniffle and wipe her tears as she lays on Beca’s chest holding her close.
After a moment, Beca swallows and looks down at her girlfriend.
“I wanna marry you Chlo, and this isn’t me asking you because I want that to be special, but I just don’t want you to feel insecure about it, because I am so in love with you.”
“Becs…” Chloe starts, propping herself to stare down at her girlfriend. The moonlight cascading through the window hits the corner of her eye, and Beca can see a tear threatening to spill down her cheek.
“I’m in love with you too. You make everything make sense.” She whispers as she leans down for another kiss.

got tagged to do this fic writer interview thang :-) thank you @wedriftlikelonelyplanets!
How many works do you have on AO3?
eleven!!
What's your total AO3 word count?
62,008
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
catch a fever dream (985)
the pain will remind us of each other (738)
and then there's you (680)
never strangers at all (651)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i do! however the x-men resurgence has led to a TON of comments on my older fics, which is so incredible, but i haven't gotten to many of them. (if you're an x-men fan, hi! i'm sorry!)
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
none of my fics *really* have angsty endings, but at the end of 'put your strength down' max just falls asleep after, like, having a horrible time. so that's not a great ending for him, even though he's eventually fine.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
i like the ending of 'never strangers at all' best for this question, because the joy they're both feeling is so intense in that moment. <3
Do you write crossovers?
i have an unfinished WIP which is an x-men/f1 crossover, which i do plan on going back and finishing someday. however it's weirdly started before i liked f1 and VERY inaccurate, so it's going to go through some hardy re-editing. (f1 fans beware)
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
yes! i have, lol. people didn't like that max & daniel didn't end up together in one of my fics. that's alright. those who get it get it.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
yes. the gay kind? i don't know how to answer that.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
nope!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
some of my x-men fics are out there in chinese.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
@velocitytimes2 and i cowrote fics about ourselves dating snowboarders when we were like, 12 and 14, so there's that.
a lot of my fics have heavy input from @gaylord-fagaton (hi P!!) and i consider him the cowriter on several of them <3
What's your all-time favorite ship?
ALL time!? jfc. ahh, that's a super hard one. i love my f1 ships but i'm sentimental. i mean, it has to be cherik, right? they've been with me a looong time. maybe damen and laurent from captive prince. or scott and emma from x-men, who i've never really written except as minor characters, but would die for. tough question.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
i mean, i really hope my x-men/f1 wip gets finished. it's been a long journey with that fic and i really love the plot that i know exists in there. but i'm not SURE i'll finish it. there's a cherik a/b/o fic that i know will never see daylight for sure. unless i finish that crossover, i think almost all my cherik stuff is dead on the vine. (for now.)
& a lot of random snippets from f1 race weekends this year.
What are your writing strengths?
dialogue, and that's about all i got. i'd say that includes a good inner monologue too.
What are your writing weaknesses?
everything else? ah, metaphors and similes are probably my downfall. i'm trying.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
not ever gonna happen. i hate looking dumb. writing erik lehnsherr was always fun bc he's jewish, so i do let his mom speak a bit of yiddish, because i speak a bit of yiddish. otherwise, i just denote that a character's not speaking in english and then go on with the dialogue.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
uhhh, i mean, the first fics i EVER wrote were probably about the jonas brothers when i was like, 8. but the first fics i ever POSTED were probably one direction when i was like, 16 or so. could've also been x-men bc i posted my first fic in that fandom around the same time. anyway, all been orphaned now, so good luck charlie if you're tryna find em.
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
oh man, i don't think any? i haven't written any in-depth maxiel and i really want to, but i do have, like, 3 maxiel fics on my ao3. but yeah, i'm excited to like actually really delve into them. i love them.
What's your favorite fic you've written?
i think the *best* fic i've written is probably 'the pain will remind us of each other.' it's just a different kind of writing and i think it's, like, pretty well pulled off, and it's just clean and straightforward and gets the emotions where i wanted them to go. there's some of my favorite lines i've ever written in there. charles in erik's mind, erik saying "where have you been?" was a really cool visual that i was happy i got to put on paper.
i also really love never strangers at all. it's undoubtedly the best f1 fic i've written. but i'm also, like, rapidly improving my writing these past few months and i'm already a bit critical of it. anyway, i still do think charles & max's relationship is lovely, and i'm proud of how i stuck to my guns in terms of what i wanted their dynamic to be, even if it's different from how a lot of people perceive them.
MATE, this was long af! i'll tag @sunsetmog & @lost-in-fandoms. i know this is a long one so no obligation, but ya know, hi! <3

Intro Post!
Hi everyone! Along with being active on Twitter, I'm going to try to keep up w Tumblr! I'm Emma/Pearlandpine, 22, she/her, and writer for FNaF + multifandom - COMMISSIONS -
My commissions are OPEN! I would love to work with you with writing for your favorite fandom or original work!
- MY FICS -
You probably know me from "His Empire of Dirt" on ao3! Read my FNaF Time Travel fix-it here (Heed Content/Trigger warnings in ao3 Description)
Michael Afton falls in a ball pit while trying to put his father down for good. When the hell did he wake up in the the 1950s and become William Afton's imaginary friend?
or
Michael Afton accidentally travels back in time and tries to stop his father from becoming the man behind the slaughter.
"The Depravity of What You Did" is my FNaF Role Swap Au! Though the main fic is complete, there is a series of one shots to serve as follow ups, as well as a sequel to be written late 2023/early 2024!
Henry Emily has lost what he loves most. William Afton never thought he would be the hero because of it.
or
Henry is the killer of FNAF and William must stop him (reluctantly, and really, more fueled by spite than anything).
And my current long project! "The Infinite Sky", a Security Breach fic following Vanessa and Gregory begrudgingly working with an accidentally resurrected William Afton to defeat Glitchtrap. This is ongoing and will take a long while to finish! (Heed CW/TW in ao3 description)
Vanessa and Gregory determine the only way to fight fire is with fire, damned who gets burned in the carnage.
or
Vanessa and Gregory accidentally revive William Afton in an attempt to stop Glitchtrap for good.
I am a part of other fandoms like Succession, GoT/HoTD, PJO/HoO, Doctor Who, MHA, and many others! I've posted for Succession and will be writing more soon :) I'll be posting snippets and links here of my fics!
Additionally! I have a YA Fantasy series, "The Gods' Descendants", which I am currently trying to get published! I'd love questions about it if you have them, and will likely be posting snippets from it along the way :)
Anyway...
I'm very active on Twitter and will be remaining on that site until they physically restrain me, so follow me there @pearIandpine esp if you're a moot! On Tumblr, I'll be posting writing, and hopefully one day, art (once I improve!)
If you make fanart/fanfics of my works 1) AGH tysm!! 2) Tag it under the title so I can see it, and tag me as well! I love love everything y'all make <3 Thank you for reading :) See ya!
art by the lovely @final-boy of my current fic "The Infinite Sky"

🖊👀
Post a snippet from a current WIP. “Jannik,” his tone softened, but his fingers tightened slightly around Jannik’s chin, forcing him to meet his gaze “Tell me you want this.”
Jannik’s breath stuttered in his chest. He could feel every nerve alight, his body tense and waiting. This is such a bad idea.
But, despite the warning bells going off in his head, his heart hammered out a different rhythm - a reckless, undeniable need to say yes, to let go of control even though it terrified him. “Yes,” Jannik whispered, the word barely leaving his lips.
Do you have any WIPs that you would never let see the light of day? If yes, what are they about? Honestly, I think the only ones I wouldn't post are the ones I haven't finished, and I don't usually post WIPs. I don't write anything with the intention of not posting. But I start so many stories, have so many ideas, there's no enough time to finish them and some just won't get finished. It sucks and I hate it but it's the truth. There's stuff that's old and I'll never finish because it's no longer a story I'm interested in telling, or because my writing has changed/improved so much I would have to completely re-write.
Like, I'm terrified of the reaction my current fic is going to get. It's very different to anything I've seen on AO3 for tennis RPS. It's either going to get ignored or flamed. But damn straight I'm going to post it.

Fic Writer Interview (20 Questions)
This tag game passed by twice, once in January (because apparently this post has been sitting in my drafts that long) and again several months later, so forgive me for not remembering who to tag! These questions seem fun, so if anyone wants to join, feel free to say I tagged you!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
20 at the moment, with plenty more WIPs.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
480,895 words and counting.
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Not counting TMW bonus content, the top 5 are:
The Mad Witch (758 kudos)
"The Scarlett Cauldron" (77 kudos)
"Fear Itself" (76 kudos)
"The Most Powerful Witch" (72 kudos)
"Piper's Best Worst Day" (57 kudos)
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to! I love engaging with my readers and other members of the fandom. Every comment always makes my whole day. Life gets busy sometimes, so I don't always have the time to respond to every single one, but I definitely see and appreciate all of them!
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Usually my fics have fairly hopeful endings, but "3 Years Ago," a pre-canon Murdered: Soul Suspect fic might fit the bill. Sometime in the future, it has the potential to be topped by "Will of the People," a Fallout 4 WIP that revolves around the Diamond City anti-ghoul riots.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
My Secret Santa fics, "It's Not the Fall" and "Flawed Phials," definitely have the fluffiest endings!
7. Do you write crossovers?
Nope!
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I get rude or condescending comments on occasion from people who don't know how to hit the back button and/or are unfamiliar with fandom etiquette, though nothing actively malicious. The one time I received a transphobic/homophobic message in response to TMW it was private (if it was public, I would have deleted it; I don't give a platform to that kind of thing at all), and honestly I hope that person is in a better place now because they really didn't seem okay at the time. I'm fortunate that the vast majority of my readers and mutuals are such wonderfully amazing and kind people.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, BUT, before you get too excited, not in The Mad Witch. Smut is by definition graphic, and TMW has a Teen rating that shall remain unchanged.
The smut scenes I've drafted so far (F/F and F/M) are for my Rosemary Reaper series (post-canon Fallout 4 WIP). Those fics will all be rated Mature, so while not overly explicit, they'll definitely be spicier than TMW. Maybe I'll share a snippet sometime if there's any demand for it.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of?? I have long since deleted my Wattpad account, so my fics should only be on AO3. If anyone ever finds one of my fics elsewhere in the wild, please let me know.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have not, which is probably for the best. I would like to make some heavy edits to the beginning of TMW when I'm done with it.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not a fic, though I have co-written a short fantasy story with a friend, with him writing for one POV character and me for another. We agreed on major actions and story beats, but we each kept a major secret that we didn't reveal until after we had written our individual parts. It was a lot of fun (though we were both painfully unskilled at the time).
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I don't know if I really have one. I have ships I enjoy and characters I like to pair with OCs, though nothing I feel properly obsessive over. This might be a consequence of primarily writing for video game fandoms. But I do have my default game romances: Merula in HPHM, Piper in Fallout 4, Marcurio in Skyrim, etc. I'm also a sucker for unrequited love interests, like Serana in Skyrim and Aveline in Dragon Age 2. The ANGST.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I never want to say never because I'm currently 83,435 words into the last fic I said I would never write. But there are two fics that I'm almost certain I will never finish, which I'm kind of sad about: my post-canon Murdered: Soul Suspect longfic, A Certain Darkness, and my RWBY OC team longfic, DSRT.
I made it just shy of 200,000 words into A Certain Darkness before I had to drop it. My writing skills ended up surpassing the progress I had made, and by the time I realized how many characters, relationships, and plot points were just straight up bad, I had written myself into a corner. I do love Joy and Angel so much, a medium/ghost duo with way more homoerotic tension than my closeted teenage self ever intended. Maybe one day I'll gut the story, drop the characters into a different setting, and make it something original. One day.
DSRT ran into a similar problem, though fortunately I only ever wrote the first few chapters. I could probably reattempt it if I really wanted, but with the overwhelming number of WIPs I already have, it's hard to imagine finding the time. I do miss my team of teenage idiots: Dustin, Saul, Rosemary, and Talos. It was supposed to have a really tragic ending too, which I don't often get to write.
15. What are your writing strengths?
I often receive compliments on how human I make my characters feel, which is the highest honor anyone could give. I've been told my dialogue frequently flows smoothly too.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Conciseness. Why is this post so long omg.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Do it carefully and with necessity. Maybe a character is bilingual and blends languages, so it's part of their characterization. Maybe a password or spell needs to be said in another language because it's old or pretentious. It can work, but it can also be easy to mess up. I personally avoid writing dialogue in languages I don't have a good grasp of, or I try to consult other people if I do (not Google Translate, which sucks).
There's also the matter of if the POV character even understands the language being spoken. If they don't, then I don't write the language out (unless it's a phrase the character is going to learn later on). In these instances, it makes more sense to write something like, "The man muttered a phrase in a language she didn't recognize," or "She fired off something in Spanish, the words too quick to catch."
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Star Wars the Clone Wars, baby! I was like ten or eleven. Never published, but my worldbuilding for that longfic (a saga, more like) was insanely elaborate. Alas, another story for the WIP graveyard.
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
Eventually, I want to get back to my Skyrim WIP, which includes a main Dragonborn/Marcurio ship. Maybe even with a little Dragonborn/Serana infidelity on the side (which Marcurio absolutely does not deserve, the poor guy).
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
I mean, I have to say The Mad Witch, don't I? That fic is where my community is, where every time I post a chapter I have a ton of people who get excited about it with me. It is the story I think about constantly, that I have spent literal years writing and daydreaming about. No matter what I've written before or will write since, this will be the defining fic in my journey as a writer.
That, and I have a special fondness for "Case by Case." I just think it's neat.
#there's so much going on in this post i don't know how to tag it#it wasn't supposed to be this LONG#tag game

AO3 Tag Game!
Tagged by @mvshortcut :) I'm gonna stick with just this fandom/this account for this one to make it less confusing
How many works do you have on AO3?
44. (Including snippet collections.) For this fandom/account. Far more if you count bi-demon-ium or my old account or my older account or
What’s your total AO3 word count?
Okay this one it won't let me separate by pseud or fandom so you're just gonna have to live with being lumped in with all my MBS and a few other misc fics at "653,461". Didn't get the other accounts though. Man, I'm a mess
How many fandoms have you written for, and what are they?
Okay, well, this one by nature is also not solely for this fandom,
(number in parentheses is number of ao3 works posted)
Ted Lasso (obviously) (44) (including snippet collections)
The Mysterious Benedict Society (116) (also including snippet collections)
Instinct (2) (one is a small snippet collection--)
House MD (1)
Death by Dying (1)
Gravity Falls, technically, but it was one crossover (1)
ditto with The Legend of Zelda (1)
King Falls AM (1)
The House in the Cerulean Sea (6)
Shadowhunters (??? at least 36) (some now hidden/lost)
Professor Layton (1)
The Librarians (2)
The Sandman (1)
The Mentalist (2)
Star Trek (AOS) (1)
Sanders Sides (at least 1)
Miraculous Ladybug (1)
Rosewell: New Mexico (2)
The Dresden Files (1)
That's stuff posted to ao3/finished. There's also, technically,
for stuff I published when I was twelve and I now refuse to acknowledge (not all bc of the fandom but bc the fic was Bad):
Doctor Who
Supernatural
Sherlock
Psych
Castle
Welcome to Night Vale
Avengers
A Series of Unfortunate Events
And then stuff I've written for but never finished:
Warehouse 13
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (2016)
Dirk Gently (2010)
SurrealEstate
Zoo (podcast)
Once Upon a Time
Scooby Doo
Person of Interest
The Goes Wrong Show
Spy Kids (???)
Ace Attorney
The Adventure Zone
Criminal Minds
Star Trek (TOS, TNG, and DS9)
Haven
MacGyver
Trollhunters
exactly one (1) joke The Magnus Archives fic
Percy Jackson and the Olympians + The Kane Chronicles + Tales of Apollo
Leverage
Pushing Daisies
The Sarah Jane Adventures
Megamind
Bones
Avatar: the Last Airbender
Lucifer
Some of these are deeply questionable and/or only have like two (2) wips or even posted works at most, but I'm thorough. Also, I will write about almost anything bc my brain loves to process things like this. I may have even missed something
Top five fics by kudos:
Ted Lasso Kisses Trent Crimm On The Mouth (1125)
semaphore (977)
off the handle (719)
linger (699) (nice)
a preacher, a bikini, and a kiss or two (641)
Do you respond to comments?
I really try to, but then I get all in my head about it and/or am really really tired and put it off so long it then feels like it would be weird to respond because it's been forever. However, if there's a direct question or something I want to address/respond to, as in, I have something particularly unique to say or a question to answer, then I'll usually respond really fast
What’s the fic with the angstiest ending you’ve ever written?
Honestly, I'm not a huge unhappy ending person, a lot of the time I'll have a first chapter I was initially going to end really angsty (see ink sunset and make a mess of you) and then added more to fix it at least somewhat. As is... maybe the somewhat unresolved emotional tension (for Ted and Trent, at least, Roy's doing great) in something to get off my chest, the +1 for betrayal's sting / absolution's balm? I have some worse ones in an old fandom on an old account but. meh.
Do you write crossovers?
Not often, but I rotate them in my brain. Honestly, though, I'm more inclined to write a fusion than a crossover proper. And even so, I tend to just be thinking about it rather than actually writing it. I've only written one crossover in recent memory (recently, that is) and it was mostly a joke about a shared actress made into actual angst.
Have you ever gotten hate on a fic?
Yeah lmao
Do you write smut?
😏 sure do
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
👁️👁️ not in this fandom
Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes!! also not in this fandom
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
In this fandom? Trent/Ted. overall? no idea, because recency bias, my all-time favorite is whatever I'm into right now, which isn't really objective but hyperfixationitis.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
:( so many. AND there are a lot of posted fics I want to write a sequel/companion piece for and idk if I'll ever get the energy...
I guess off the top of my head, for this fandom, I'd go with lost sight of (who you are) (motivation died because it's old enough no one knows it exists anymore lkfgjh) and ink sunset (I WANNA FINISH IT I DO I DO I DO)
What are your writing strengths?
I think I can write a really funny string of dialogue, and I'm also fond of fun metaphors, both in the elegant poetic way and in the more Douglas Adams/Terry Pratchett way (which is to say, still potentially elegant but also comedic as hell)
What are your writing weaknesses?
Motivating myself to write anything; being overly self-indulgent
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fics?
I'm extremely bad at linguistics in general, so if I must include someone talking in another language in my fic, I think I'd tend to cheat and do italics or some other indication that this is 'in another language' (ie "Where are you going?" she asked in Russian), but that's admittedly a lazy approach. But I also think it's probably better than butchering it with an auto-translator? Also, when people just include the translation in the end notes, even with a link (although that makes it marginally better) it breaks the flow of the story and makes it hard to read. Making an effort to at least match grammar is good (which I would do if it was for longer than a single scene, probably) but I think the best solution is when people know what they're doing and like, have an actual translation with a little html code so you can click on it and it reveals what it means? Or if you're clever, revealing what it means using context around it, but that has its own limitations. So that both like, uses the actual language and doesn't break up the flow. It balances accessibility, flow, and respect for the other language in question well. But you've got to both know what you're doing with the language (either asking someone/hiring someone/knowing the language yourself) and the html (although there are guides for that you'd have to spend time figuring it out + know it exists in the first place to look). And this is fanfiction, something we ultimately do for free in our spare time, so the lazy approach, I think, can be understandable. Maybe not in every context, but it's not worth stressing a lot over in a few random lines or anything, you know? It is really cool when people do know a language well enough to include it properly in a fic, though, it can say a lot about a character or dynamic; and their background(s) and like. it's neat :)
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
Ever? Doctor Who. In a shitty little notebook in middle school. Then there was some Star Trek (both TNG and TOS) and Avatar: the Last Airbender and Marvel and such, and then Supernatural (my first smut? extremely terrible Destiel smut. rip) and I think the first thing I ever posted was Welcome to Night Vale? Not sure.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written so far?
Oh, man. I have no idea. Here's a few favorites from this fandom:
matters of the heart
trick & treat
vita nova
melt like this
"second impressions"
"reveal"
probably those time travel snippets, just in general
tagging:

help me choose which fic i finish, i'm begging
hello, everyone! sooooo a couple months back i said that i was gonna start posting fics on here and ao3... it never happened because i procrastinate like a professional.
BUT.
i've finally gotten a hold of myself and currently have three advanced wips. HOWEVER, i wanted to know which one would you be more interested in reading?
so.
yeah.
here's a summary, i guess.
option 1: landoscar harry potter au but make hogwarts a magical university because i cannot be bother to write teenagers. oscar pov which is turning out to be really fun to write. logan's there being adopted by half the school. dennis and arthur too. background lestappen because i can't not make them pine for each other. sue me.
option 2: agents of shield au that i cannot even begin to explain because that one is just weird and it has, like, stuff. lando as daisy johnson, tho, which is cool. again, landoscar and lestappen because why not. life's too short not to enjoy it.
option 3: see, this one is the most advanced one. and like. the strangest. SO BEAR WITH ME. it's lando x arthur. as in. arthur leclerc. and it wasn't even my idea. but. a friend threw it at me. i found it endearing. i now have +10 pages written of arthur pining and lando freaking out because he cannot have a crush on his friend's baby brother??? in the middle of his WEDDING WEEKEND in maldives. which. yes, you guessed it, it's lestappen's wedding. again. sue me. there's a lot of college times references and a little side fic about a trip to croatia years before the wedding written in arthur's pov (main fic is lando's pov) and everyone being done with them. it's really cute if i do say so myself. just a weird pairing.
so... yeah, just, tell me which one seems more compelling and i'll finish it soon. maybe not soon, actually. but i will finish it 'cause if not i'll feel bad. so. this is more of a way to give myself a purpose to keep writing.
if you would like to see a little snippet of any of them, just tell me and i'll randomly select a scene.
and that's it.
this has turned into the bible.
okay, bye.
#i know someone who will be VERY sad if you don't pick larthur (su i'm looking at you)#but i'm genuinely curious to know which one's more appealing#landoscar#lestappen#i'm not even gonna tag the third one because there's nothing to tag#arthur leclerc#yeah that one that's it

wip wednesday!
Fun fact about how I perceive the passage of time: every day is like a week to me and yet every week passes in the blink of an eye. That is, yesterday as I was realising today would be Wednesday, I thought to myself, "Damn, but I've barely even written anything since posting ch. of In the Course of Destiny, which was who even knows when!" ...which prompted me to check the date on ao3 and realise it was Monday that I posted. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.
Anyhow, I have a couple of wips in the works right now. Ch.5 of Destiny, of course, and then there's Crash, which I hilariously started writing to take a break from Destiny with, and now it's its own monster. It's been on pause for the couple of days I was finishing up Destiny ch.4. I figure I'll probably return to it when I'm halfway through ch.5 and hitting a lull there 😆
There's a further three wips I have started in the past week, but I'm sort of Pretending I Do Not See even as I tinker around with them here and there. I've been trying to figure out shorter things to write. It feels like my hallmark of writing is getting stupidly invested in creating plot. Stupid, I say, because for all my ambitions, the execution of the plots I try to craft never seem to live up to my hopes. I'd say that I'd be happier trying to write juicy, tropey oneshots, except that I can't really pull those off, either, or don't know how to, or don't have the exciting creativity required. So what is there left? Long, long rambles, I guess, and the illusion of adventure. Very Tolkiencore of me
Anyway, now that my weekly glum whining is out of the way (yes, I am whining because I feel like I haven't been posting anything) (see again: my fucked up perception of time) (😔)...
While I was looking for a snippet to share, I found a hilarious typo in one of my fics:
Over his shoulder, Seamus bowled in fury.
Meant to write "howled", of course, but now I'm imagining an Oz where it's just competitive bowling. Could definitely imagine the Italians have a bowling league, at least.
Anyway, snippet from Desire Path: (at this point, I don't really remember what I've shared from this wip. Feels like I've shared like half the fic already...)

20 Questions for Fic Writers Tag Game
Thank you @androxys for the tag!
1. how many works do you have on AO3?
I have 46 works on AO3 at the moment. There's a handful more spread over various other places, but at this point I've uploaded all of my back catalogue that I want to have archived there.
2. what's your total AO3 word count?
113,119 words. Which is pretty respectable given I tend not to write long pieces.
3. what fandoms do you write for?
Whatever is currently causing my brain to itch! At the moment that's most DC Comics, but I do have a few Yuri!!! on Ice drafts sitting around that I may or may not finish, at least one Girl Genius piece I could tidy up, a bunch of ATLA snippets, and I can frequently be provoked into writing Vorkosigan Saga if people pose the right scenarios.
4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
College Daze: a Yuri!!! on Ice SkyGem Retirement Challenge piece, where I don't bother with the reveal. It's three separate scenarios where people meet Yuuri as a college student in the US and don't know who he is. I'm entirely unsurprised it remains my most popular - it was a very popular challenge in the fandom and it's a lot more accessible and pandering to fandom tastes than some other stuff I write.
Find Out What It Means To Me: an immediate sequel to Yuri!!! on Ice, set around Japanese Nationals. Yuuri doubts himself but succeeds and finds how much love and support he has from the whole Japanese skating community. I love this piece because it's very much a balance of things I enjoy (fiddly technical details) and characterisation.
the picture frames have changed and so has your name: DC Comics. What if Dick no longer loved Tim? What if Dick got Morrison Disease? Ahahaha I think you all know this one. It's my big DC piece so far, so I'm not surprised it's up here. It also contains female characters that casual DC fans have never heard of in major roles, so I'm also not surprised it doesn't get the attention fanon-based material does in this fandom.
Little Chick in a Nest: Yuri!!! on Ice. Victor introduces Yuuri to Lilia, without realising that Minako was also a famous prima ballerina. The YOI fandom loves Minako's Benois, but it's a tiny set dressing detail; Victor probably overlooked it and nobody ever talks about Minako as a famous dancer. I had a lot of fun setting up Victor to put his foot in it.
there's an endless road to rediscover: DC Comics. Dick and Tim playfight in the Cave and Damian misreads the situation. I think this one is popular just because of the interplay between the characters, and it was my first attempt at trying to get my head around Damian as a character.
5. do you respond to comments?
Pretty much always. It's the time I spent on LJ coming through, because comments are for talking, and if you talk to me I'll talk back. If you're waiting on a response it's usually because I'm formulating some massive post. Also I tend to meet people where they pitch their comment - the longer and more detailed it is the more detail and discussion you'll get back.
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I'll hold your memory in my hands tonight. It's pretty hard to beat this one for angst in terms of the subject matter. (I still giggle to myself over the pun in this title because it's dreadful) Anyway CTE is something I have a lot of feelings about and they recently diagnosed two women as having suffered CTE due to domestic violence, which is horrific and really shows the long term problems and dangers from family violence.
Then there's A Duty to Your Family and Soft, Small, Silent, Still, one of which contains attempted infanticide and the other which contains canonical accidental toddler death, so you know. When I give heads up warnings I tend to mean them.
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
...Happiest? hmmmm. I have a bunch of fluff, but probably Find Out What It Means To Me for YOI, Herds of Little Vorkosigans for Vorkosigan Saga, and These Small Hours for DC Comics?
Yes okay that's two baby fics and the one where everyone tells Yuuri he's the best.
8. do you get hate on fics?
Almost none that I'm aware of; there's occasionally a bit of pedantry on the Vorkosigan Saga fics but that's from known notorious figures in the fandom and I largely ignore them. If anyone's busy having a hate on for my fics they're kind enough to do it the correct way, which is privately where I can't see it.
9. do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope. The closest I get is playing around with innuendo at times in my writing. I'd really rather insinuate and then fade to black, it's heaps less awkward to write.
10. do you write crossovers?
I was going to play good old 'what do you mean by crossover' as far as DC Comics goes, but the answer is a frank yes, because I've got a West Wing & Grease crossover drabble I'm Not Pregnant which is leveraging Stockard Channing appearing in both.
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I've ever noticed, and I honestly suspect it's unlikely to happen. I would need to write things that get more attention than I currently get, designed to hit fandom popular tropes.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No. None of my Vorkosigan Saga stuff is popular enough to get a Russian translation and it doesn't fit the preferred tropes of that end of fandom anyway.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nothing I've ever specifically published as fic. I do have some commentfic over the years where there's been back and forth between me and someone else, but alas commentfic is a dying breed in fandom these days.
(and it's a LOT more informal than proper cowriting)
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
All time favourite? Oh gosh. Probably Wally/Norah from Billabong, which hits just so many of my favourite notes for a relationship. Nothing for me will ever beat Wally throwing himself at Norah's mercy to confess that he would rather have died than Jim as he's 'nobody's dog', and Norah claiming him as her own.
I've loved those two since I was a little kid, and you know how it is with ships you acquire in that formative period.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
I remain hopeful about a lot of my stash but I just can't see myself finishing a piece I have about Steph's baby and Helena Kyle. It's a fun scenario, but I cannot work out the villain who came after them both, and so it remains a setting without a plot.
16. What are your writing strengths?
From what people have said to me: I'm pretty good at paring down language and telling a lot of story in small scenes and understatement. There's a bunch of compliments I've had over the structure of TES 34/64 that I treasure, and everyone lost their minds over "the shoes had eventually come in handy. For the funerals." in a gap where a parent should be.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Oh, this is something I have strong feelings about. I don't like loan words being translated and multilingual fandoms often have a working level of loan words that is higher than background use: think for example the amount of French commonly used when discussing ballet. So I tend to think you should use languages at the level of comfort that the fandom has for them.
It often comes down to the fluency of the characters in the scene - I think dialogue in another language can be quite powerful if some of the characters understand it and others don't, because you can leverage that variation in understanding in your audience. However personally I'm more likely to note what languages are being used in dialogue tags than arrange for a translation.
I do try to localise for word choice to the setting of a fic but at this point I've been in fandom too long and and I'm too stubborn to localise spelling for my writing.
Which means if I were to write Wellington Paranormal fic I would probably be using my extremely scanty Māori mixed through the dialogue; I wouldn't bother translating kia ora or whānau for instance. But on the other hand I'm not going to write in another language unless it makes sense for the story to do so.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
That I published? Harry Potter. Which I'm not ashamed of or upset over, really. It was a good fandom to learn how fandom worked in, and it certainly inoculated me against a lot of nonsense behaviour later on. I still have friends I made back then, I learned a lot about how Internet communities function and behave, and it's sort of weird to have things I was on the fringe of and have contemporary memories of occurring having become Fandom Lore.
20. Favourite fic you've written?
Oh damn. Hmmm. Look, probably the picture frames have changed and so has your name, because I'm super proud of myself for finishing it, but in terms of underrated pieces I have to to point to the Mother's Day series, particularly Tea for Two, because DC mothers deserve so much more love.
I don't have anyone specific to tag so let's make it an open offer.
