And we’re (finally) back with episode 10!! This is the one I feel will make or break the show for Snarly (my mom) — she dislikes Viktor’s advances just because he’s in a position of power as Yuuri’s coach, but I feel like the banquet reveal might change that for her. Since Yuuri actually asked and initiated the romance.
The intro really is stunning every time.
The scene with Yurio’s fans and the yelling at JJ entertained her so much.
“There’s a lot of characters to keep track of” (when Otabek first shows up).
Laughing at Phichit’s selfie montage.
When she saw Yuuri looking at the selfies of Viktor and Chris at the pool, she said “oh no.” I think she was worried Yuuri would be jealous or insecure??
“Baby!!” when the shots of Yuuri falling at the last GPF came up in the flashback.
“I wanna go to Barcelona.”
She laughed at Yurio’s crazy fans.
A lot of worried faces at Yurio and Otabek’s conversation, but no comment.
At the proposal scene: “Oh my god.”
“And here’s some paella!!” (At the ad transition slide — she’s right that they feel a little jarring after emotional scenes.)
She laughed at Mari and Minako’s teary antics over the dinner.
She notices the Viktuuri rings are worn on the right hand!
Laughed at Drunken Toshiya’s antics. She also wondered about where Kyushu is, and if it’s considered “party Japan.” (Is it?)
Sad laugh at Yuuri’s drinking in the banquet flashback.
Confused faces when Yuuri tries to deny the engagement. “Why would you get rings if you didn’t think that— you could have gotten a bracelet!”
She laughed when Yurio kicked Viktor.
“What does he mean [that Viktor Nikiforov is dead]?”
“Oh, he means the Viktor he knew is dead.”
Eyeroll to the heavens at Michele’s insistence on protecting Sara.
Little laugh at Georgi’s cameo.
She wasn’t saying anything, but she sure was making some interesting faces at the Sochi Banquet shots.
Overall, she hasn’t budged on the core of the issue — she thinks it’s inappropriate for Viktor to be pursuing Yuuri when he’s coaching him. But she does seem to think it made for a good plot twist!

Yuri On Ice reactions from my mom; this time episode five. Minami’s my absolute favorite character, so I’m really excited for this one!!
She couldn’t tell the intro song is in English and asked me what it was saying. This meant we went back to the start after five minutes so I could sing all of the words to History Maker over the actual song. Yes I know all the words, and now she’s singing it too. She thinks it sound like he’s saying “Joseph” instead of “yourself” and won’t budge on that. I don’t hear it at all.
Mom: (About Minami’s fanboying over Yuuri) “oh, he has a crush??” Me: “Kinda” Her: *disapproving stare*
She laughed at Yuuri’s rant at Viktor, and again at Minami’s staring.
She laughed about Viktor’s drama too. And at the cameras flashing when he hugs Yuuri.
“I like the way the texture of the ice looks”
The Katsudon bit still cracks her up every time. And I do mean EVERY single time.
“I have a recipe for chicken Katsu, we should try that”
(About the audience in Hasetsu being more fired up) “yeah, cause that was your hometown, babe!”
She thought the focus on his face during the spin was weird.
“Why is everyone sweating?” (Great question, my best guess is nerves)
She was confused about how Yuuri got such a high score with mistakes, so I talked about GOEs and how they get inflated at domestic levels, the super high base value of the program, etc.
About Minami: “oh he totally has a crush on Yuuri, what did you mean ‘kind of’??” “That’s a baby.” “See! Lohengrin! It’s a real thing!”
I asked her about it months ago cause it came up on Jeopardy and her parents liked opera when she was a kid.
She wanted to know what the food on the ad break slide was, and googled it during the break. She also said that the google search autofilled as “what are those three Japanese things on sticks” (It was dango!)
Her: “Is he gonna implode? So there’s more drama?” Me: “I’m not gonna spoil it.” Her:“So he is.”
She was shocked when Viktor stormed off. And disapproving. She really doesn’t seem to like him.
“I LOVE THE WAY THEY MAKE THE ICE LOOK! The reflection of the lights! The little shine to it! It looks beautiful!”
She cooed at Yuuri’s cheering for Minami, and laughed at Minami’s reaction. She doesn’t think he’s a very good skater though, and she isn’t exactly wrong.
She noticed that Viktor WANTED Yuuri to cheer up Minami, because he looked so satisfied afterwards.
She laughed at Minami’s air guitar. She said his skating reminded her of stuff she’s seen in actual skaters who do that kind of music.
“Oh my god, stop it” when Viktor did the lip balm thing
During Yuuri’s Free Skate:
“Don’t get distracted— Oh no, he’s distracted.”
“Haha, he’s hiding his face behind the dog!” (Viktor, after Yuuri changes the elements)
“Why did he look at the judges??”
*As I was explaining the changes to the program jumps* “So why is it a bad thing that he—Oh, fuck me” (When Yuuri Hits the Wall)
Afterwards: “So why isn’t he bleeding? …There it is.”
She laughed at Yuuri’s teary chase towards Viktor at the Kiss and Cry. Not at the actual fall though, and then again at Minami’s fanboying. But she thought the Grand Prix thing was sweet.
I just noticed the other Japanese skaters ask Yuuri for an autograph while Viktor is right there. A five time world champion standing two feet away, and they all completely ignore him!! Yuuri really is the skater they all look up to, huh? I’m so proud of him.
She was CACKLING at Yurio’s shenanigans with the phone and screaming at Mila
She also got excited about “Baba” cause she recognized it as part of Baba Yaga and realized what it meant.
*My theme this season is love* “that’s a stupid theme”
She was distressed about Yuuri’s family’s love not being acknowledged, and wants him to apologize to them.
She also momentarily wondered if Cialdini coached Phichit to fuck with Yuuri before remembering that they’re former rinkmates.
This then devolved into her saying “Chele-stee-no” to her cat in an Italian accent over and over again cause I accidentally pronounced it with a hard C instead.
So yeah, I had great time here!! I’m really glad she liked Minami, and that the celebrity crush thing didn’t weird her out too much.

Just got my mom to watch the first three episodes of Yuri on Ice. Quick summary:
She adores Yuuri and his little chibi narrations. She also thought he was way younger than he is — she was shocked when I told her he was 23.
She isn’t nuts about Viktor — she finds him funny but also thinks it’s inappropriate for VikNik to be coaching Yuuri and pursuing him romantically at the same time. Also, she is (rightly) pissed about the fat shaming.
She got very excited about Yakov having a Jewish name.
She didn’t like Yurio at first, just because of the physical violence, but she likes how expressive he is and finds his constant glaring and rage shivers funny. She also warmed up to him once we got to the end of the Onsen on Ice arc and he’d shown his softer side a little. I don’t think she’ll budge on the physical violence thing though, which is fair.
She thought Nikolai (Yurio’s grandfather) was Yakov in the flashback. I had to explain that they’re separate people.
She adores the general Hasetsu cast, particularly the Katsuki parents and the Nishigoris. I don’t think she really gets Minako yet though.
She asked if it ever got explicitly gay, so I did tell her about the kiss and proposal. I’m trying to keep the rest of it under wraps, but I talk too much for my own good when I’m excited
She loves the skating and comedy aspects, so she says we can keep going into the next arc soon! She also seemed excited about the competition aspect, and seeing international skaters.
Overall it was a good run! We got through the first three episodes in one go, and she likes it. And I think she’ll like the Russian characters a lot more once they’ve developed.
(Also, my mother loves Jason Brown as a skater, so I’m willing to bet she’ll like Leo de la Iglesias since they’re pretty similar in their priorities and styles as skaters. Plus, he’s so precious!!)

And onto the Cup of China!!! I ended up telling my mom a little bit more about the Grand Prix series and the requirements to qualify for the Final, so we’re not going in blind. Episode 6 reactions:
She thought Leo looked like a douche in the Skate America podium shots, which momentarily crushed me because I thought she’d love him. She might change her mind once he has his narration during his skate, though.
She thought the animation for Phichit’s program looked choppy, and said it didn’t measure up to some of the other skates.
When Yuuri was pacing around she yelled “get out of your head!!”
She still gets uncomfortable whenever Viktor and Yuuri get flirty. She was shocked when Yuuri did the tie grab, too.
“OHhhoh!” at the tongue thing Yuuri does.
She said she’s glad the producers keep the programs and music for each character the same, instead of changing it just to keep things fresh for the audience. It’s more realistic that way, which she prefers.
She does not care for Yuuri’s rant about Viktor during the performance.
“WHOA” (when she saw Georgi’s makeup)
“Another oldster” about the music. She likes when she recognizes the real world songs, and I’m gonna get her to listen to the rest of the soundtrack with the original compositions later.
She’s cracking up all through Georgi’s performance. Especially at Mila’s reactions and commentary.
“I’m not used to heterosexuality in this” (when we see Georgi’s ex-girlfriend).
Also about Georgi’s rant: “This isn’t funny. Stalking is not funny. But I’m still laughing.”
She thought Leo’s monologue was cute!! I’m glad I was right about her liking him.
However, she thinks the shading on his costume makes him look like he peed his pants. Now I can’t unsee it.
“It’s interesting that the last names for different characters aren’t necessarily reflecting their ethnicity. Like how Giacometti is actually an Italian name, but he’s Swiss.”
(Don’t bring geography into this. Please. I’m very bad at it.)
When Chris grabbed his own ass: “Gross.”
“He’s got a camera full of ass.”
Literally gagged when Chris says he cummed.
*The ice looks soaking wet* Mom: “Just stop!!!”
She says the other programs clearly had less money and time than Yuuri’s, but she didn’t seem to mind it all that much.
She loved Minako’s little freak outs over Chris. She definitely found it funny.
And for episode 7:
She was very worried when she saw Tired Yuuri.
“I told you” after Yuuri wipes out in the warm-up.
She laughed at Guang-Hong’s theme being “bonds and violence” since he has such a baby face.
She LOVES the different animation styles for flashbacks and fantasies, like Guang-Hong’s internal monologue about the movie. She liked the ones in the Onsen on Ice arc about Yurio’s family and the Eros program’s playboy story, too.
She’s really sad about Guang-Hong not doing well. She thought him deciding to quit social media was a good idea, since it means he’ll do better later on.
She likes Josef, Chris’s coach, just being supportive of his skater. Also his glasses, which she thinks make him look like an architect.
She hates Chris’s facial hair and the lace up sides on the costume. She thinks both are gross in different ways.
She cooed at baby Chris in the flashback though!
“He looks like Legolas there” (about flashback Viktor).
“No! Once was bad enough, friend” (when Chris cummed again).
She laughed at the ad transition slide of crab after the super dramatic shot and music with Phichit.
She got mad when Celestino said Phichit had more flair and personality than Yuuri. I wholeheartedly agree.
She laughed at Leo’s little self pep-talk.
“No, whore, don’t” (when Viktor was debating kissing Yuuri to get him out of his panic spiral).
“Oh you dick. Diiiiiiiick.” (when Viktor threatens to resign as a coach)
My mom: *Wails of distress when Yuuri starts to cry*
She was really sad at that point, both because Yuuri was breaking down and then Leo lost. So I was right that she’d like him at least??
She thinks Leo looks like Lee Pace, mostly cause of the eyebrows. Never knew who he was ‘til then, but she’s right.
Still laughing at Georgi.
She thinks the animation on the other skaters is too choppy to tell if they’re good artists or executing things well. She isn’t wrong.
“OOH” when Anya (Georgi’s ex) gets up.
She cackled when Anya did the thumbs down thing.
“Well there’s a stunner” (at Georgi’s fall as he cries).
She really likes the still shots in Georgi’s fantasy.
She still laughs at Yurio’s commentary pretty much every time.
She also said the Nishigori triplets look like Nara illustrations. She’s absolutely right.
She laughed a little at Viktor’s mishaps as a coach before Yuuri’s program started.
“Duuuude” (when Yuuri contemplated changing the last quad).
CACKLING at Viktor’s surprised face with his hands on his face.
“OWW” (when Yuuri falls).
“How would that not make him lose? In gymnastics, if you fall down, you’re gonna lose.”
GAPING at the Viktuuri kiss. She was shocked about that part. Seemed happy about though!
Still laughing at Yurio’s rage. She also just noticed the lion shirt he’s wearing in his Instagram shot of the ending credits.
Overall very positive reaction to this one! She really likes all the characters, even if the non-Yuuri skating sequences seem to fall short. The animation on Rostelecom and the GPF were better anyway, so thats something to look forward to.

And we’re doing the final episode!! I’m crying over it once again and I’m fine with that.
She was surprised to see Viktor crying.
Very excited by the “selfish” comment, either she agrees or just wants to see Yuuri fired up.
“That man is speaking French!” (When Stéphane Lambiel has his cameo. She got very excited when I told her who it was! She followed real world skating a few years ago enough to recognize him.)
“I’m glad his girlfriend loves himself anyway” (about JJ. She definitely came to like him by the end!)
She keyed on to the fact the skaters go in reverse order.
“YOUNG CELESTINO LOOKS LIKE TRENT CRIMM, THE INDEPENDENT” (She’s right. I can’t unsee it now.)
She gasped when Phichit touched down.
“Who’s that?” (When Seung-Gil comes back. Followed by “there’s too many characters!”)
She thinks Phichit’s dream is really cute!! She loves him, and the fact his program seemed to have little nods to his culture.
Re:Viktuuri tensions: “Why are you guys being so weird?”
At Yuuri’s speech: “What is this behavior?”
She GASPED at Viktor’s provocation about the lack of gold, then said “nice.” She’s having fun.
At the start of the program: “Oh, now he gets shitty animation! They must have really run out of money.”
“Oh, so he’s gotta be perfect because he wants Viktor to continue to skate.”
She laughed with delight when Yuuri nailed the quad flip! And just amusement at his victory pose.
She laughed at Viktor’s “ultimate diss” comment. She thought it was hilarious he got so worked up at his student and friend winning.
She thinks Chris’s deep voice combined with his baby face is ridiculous.
“God I hate that costume.”
CACKLING at Minako’s blushing at Chris.
She was upset that Viktor interrupted Yurio and Yakov at first, but seemed interested later on.
“I like Viktor better now because he’s so supportive of the other skaters.”
She cheered for Otabek!!
“This is real music” about Yurio’s FS song.
She was so worried when he fell!
She loved Nikolai being supportive even at a distance.
She laughed at Yurio’s mental declaration of war to Yuuri.
“I like when they show how exhausted the skaters are in the end. Especially since they make it look so effortless in real life.”
She cooed at Yuuri’s medal offer, then laughed at Viktor’s response.
“Guess you’ll just have to kiss Yuuri!”
She was so distressed when the ad break happened — “Is there more? Is there a kiss? That’s not how you end a season!!” (I assured her there was more to come.)
She looked so into it when the Stammi Vicino pair skate started. I forgot it was included in the episode, so that was a nice surprise for me too.
When Viktor skates on: “Oh, then that’s fine [for an ending].”
“Sweet. I liked it.”
Bonus reactions to “Welcome to the Madness!”
“HAH!!” XD (repeatedly)
“Oh my god the eyeliner.”
“See I don’t like the glove bit because it feels sexual and I was happy with just Yurio having a friend.”
(When I explained it was a DVD extra) “They actually had time and money for this and you can really tell.”
So overall, I think Snarly liked Yuri on Ice!! She’s definitely more willing to talk skating with me now, so I’m counting it as a success. This really did make me bitter about the lack of continuation (WHERE IS ICE ADOLESCENCE MAPPA?), but the show was beautiful in itself. And now I have the real-world Skate America to obsess over, so there’s that at least.
Thanks for reading, y’all!

GRAND PRIX FINAL LADS, LADIES AND THEYDIES!! LETS GOOOOO!
Snarly’s still rolling her eyes at JJ. It’s so satisfying to me, since I also disliked him at first.
Gagging at Michele. As is to be expected.
She laughs like crazy at everyone’s reactions to the rings.
“Did they think they were getting a second season?” (MOM WHYYYYYYY)
She was so sad when Yuuri started crying over the botched quad flip.
She laughed at baby Phichit and the animation of the“hamster tushies” in the flashback with Yuuri.
“I’d be ok with him winning. No Thai skater has ever won!!”
Laughing at Yurio’s bench kick.
The word “wow” was used four times through the duration of Yurio’s SP and flashback sequence.
“Heh. ‘Beautiful Monster.’”
(Mocking the transition slide for old times sake) “And now. PRAWNS.”
“BLOCKBUSTER” when she saw Yurio’s SP score.
She smiled at Yakov lifting Yura.
“So we’re just gonna. not address Viktor’s feelings?”
“He looks like he’s in a boy band” (about Chris)
Still making faces and snorting at Chris’s… everything. She cooed at his cat though, so at least she likes one (1) thing about him.
“Oh no. He outscored Yuuri!”
She snorted at Yurio’s drama when Otabek goes on.
“That’s a really ugly costume” (Otabek’s. She’s right.)
She was sad at Otabek’s self deprivation in his backstory, but happy about Yurio’s enthusiasm watching him.
“Can’t they give us JJ falling down? Can’t they just give us that?” (IF ONLY YOU KNEW SNARLY)
“I like the little ethnic dance elements to Otabek’s.”
Laughing at JJ’s fans. Specifically the flag guy.
“Fall down.”
She didn’t realize at first it was a problem that JJ popped his Axel, so I had to explain that it was actually worse than if he’d just fallen.
“Aw, and now we feel bad cause his parents are assholes!”
“Don’t make me feel bad for this man.”
CACKLING at the song and JJ’s dramatics about it.
“Oh god” (when he popped the last quad Lutz).
She actually feels bad for him, which is where I was when I first watched this.
“Two .” (Theorizing about JJ’s score)
“I hate that they’re making me feel bad for him!”
“Awww” (when Isabella starts the cheer).
“They just had the flag guy!!”
She laughed at Yurio’s screaming over the cheers.
She did a physical double take when Yuuri said “let’s end this.”
“WHY??”
So, overall this was pretty good! Like me, Snarly disliked JJ until he had his moments of vulnerability here, and she already liked everyone else save for Chris. Who has redeemed himself in her eyes by virtue of being a cat person! And it looks like she’s getting invested in Viktuuri even if she doesn’t necessarily think the dynamic is healthy.
I’m very excited to see how she reacts to the finale! And to Yuuri and Viktor’s conversation.

Aaaand Snarly (my mother) has gotten to the Rostelecom Cup! This is the one I’m most excited for, just cause there’s so many new characters.
TIS THE SEASON FOR YURI PARALLELS
She laughs when Yuri calls himself the Ice Tiger
She was very worried by the Grandpa’s back giving out at the fly tackle, and distressed when Nikolai worried about if the piroshki were good.
“Say they’re delicious you little bitch!”
Cringed when I told her “Sala” is a mistranslation of Sara.
She GASPED when Seung-Gil Lee was being rude to Sara.
She snorted at JJ’s little finger guns. And then I told her it was his initials.
She’s worried for Phichit, since he might not make it to the final. And it’s not like he has plot armor to guarantee it — he’s a minor character in the end.
Laughing at the Nishigori triplets antics.
“Is it racist for a South Korean man to skate to some Mexican bullfighting kind of song?” (Right off the bat when Seung-Gil starts skating)
Snarly found the discussion of sexual performance inflation funny. I think. She snorted, at least.
She was so worried when Seung-Gil fell! I get the feeling she hates seeing any of the skaters fail.
Re: Emil — “Why does he have the beard? It’s pubic hair.”
She loved Viktor being cold to JJ.
During Michele’s skate:
“Am I getting weird incest-y vibes with these super close ups?” (About the Crispinos. She’s totally right.)
“VILE.”
“Oh god he’s hateful.”
She did like the note about Michele doing his sister’s signature combination jump. She also gagged when he said they would ‘be together forever.’
She liked Sara talking about how Mickey needed to be able to fight on his own.
She was so sad when Yurio realized his Grandpa wasn’t coming.
She got sad when she saw Makkachin by himself staring at the buns. I don’t know how she’ll cope cause it gets WORSE.
Reiterating the point about the Nishigori triplets being Nara characters.
She loved Yuuri’s little dramatic flirting moment with Viktor.
“Well if he doesn’t if he doesn’t advance to the Grand Prix, the shows over.” (When Yuuri thinks about how he needs fourth place at minimum)
She loves Lilia’s “supervillain lady look.”
She’s SO SAD about Yurio not having his Grandpa there. Constant wailing or whimpering on his behalf.
“What are we gaping at?” (When Yurio comes out in his costume)
“Oh gross” (When Viktor does the skate kiss)
“It’s good that we’re invested in more than one character.” “So you like Yurio??” “I didn’t say I like him, I’m just invested.”
Though when he fell on the axel she said “oh, baby.”
She thinks the animation is better in closeup.
“Aw, kitties!”
When JJ make the ‘ladies first’ crack to Yurio she called JJ a “homophobic fuck.” Here, here!!
She laughed at Yurio’s little pouty stance.
And at all JJ’s inane drama about his “aesthetic.”
Mocking the lyrics to Theme of King JJ. It grew on me, but it really is ridiculous the first time you hear it.
“I keep hoping he’ll skate into a wall.”
Gagged when he kissed the ice. “I hope it’s like licking a pole and his tongue gets stuck there.”
“OH NO” when we find out about Makka.
“Why would they tell him? What can he do about it now?” (I reminded her about Vicchan once it ended. She was even more distressed.)
She laughed at their collective shock and horror at the idea of Yakov coaching Yuuri.
And for episode nine:
She thought it was cute when Viktor said to hug Yakov if he needed help.
She already thought the Grandpa was sweet before she saw the Katsudon pirosky. She thought it was so cute!
“Maybe not now???” (about Sara’s intervention with Michele)
“Her timing is not great”
Michele: *Yuuri looks like a closet pervert* Mom: “He’s one to talk”
She HATES the sibling incest. She said “I might have to hide in the other room.”
She likes Mila’s hair
Eyerolls at the sibling incest.
“They both have purple eyes. Anime logic.”
Michele: *this is goodbye, Sara* My Mom: “She’s your sister. You will see her again.”
“Whats with the sparkly gloves?”
“Ew, girl!” (At the start of Sara’s conversation with Mickey)
She really likes the smash cuts from skaters being super serious to the food plates. She thinks it’s funny
She likes Yurio’s hairdo and his skate decorations.
“Nice! …I can’t believe I’m commenting on this like it’s an actual skater.”
“Oh, no!!” (when Yurio says he’s tired)
She thinks the Katsudon nickname is very funny.
I started learning a little Japanese since my first watch of the show, so now I can appreciate just how dickish it was for JJ to call Yurio “Yuri-chan.” But that’s for another time.
“Put in your earplugs, dude” (to Yuuri)
She’s so worried about Yuuri throughout the performance. She said she agreed with him sending Viktor away, since he’d be so guilty if he didn’t, but clearly it had consequences.
“Is he doing good?”
Laughing at Yakov’s glare. A lot of faces made at Yakov’s scary lecture though.
She thought the hug was cute though!
She guessed JJ’s “king” line before it happened.
“It’s kind of funny having the bad guy be Canadian. No one makes Canadians the bad guys.”
Me: He’s the token straight along with Georgi. (My mom: “who?”) Me: the crying one with the eyeliner.
“Please fall. Please fall. Please fall.”
Laughing like crazy at Yuuri’s hugging rampage, but also some cooing.
“It’s funny seeing Yuuri wearing a mask, since this was made pre-pandemic.”
She laughs at Yurio’s little raging, but thought him comforting Yuuri was adorable. And the Katsudon pirosky!
She was relieved that Makkachin lived.
“In real life that dog would be jumping on them.”
She got worried when Yuuri asked Viktor to coach him until he retired, saying “but what if he wants to skate again?” OH HONEY. Can’t decide if I should remind her Yuuri wanted this to be his last season…
“THERE WE GO!!” when Makka leans in on the hug.
Overall really positive reactions to this one! Snarly loved the skating, and the new characters and relationship development are so strong.
She had pretty much the exact same reactions to the Crispinos and Yurio’s development and to JJ that I did when I first watched the series, so I figure she’ll enjoy seeing how the latter develop further in Barcelona.
I’m so excited for her to watch the next episode—since the power imbalance about Viktor being Yuuri’s coach is the main thing she dislikes about their relationship, I’m hoping the episode ten reveal will change her mind.

And now we’re on to Episode Four!!
Yuuri: “He said I can pay his coaching fees later-“
My Mom: “you can pay him in dick!”
Y’all can imagine how horrified I was to hear my mother say that but like. She wasn’t exactly WRONG.
She got really sad at the Celestino scene, she really is invested in Yuuri’s success and happiness! She didn’t like Viktor getting possessive about it though.
She seems to like Yuuko and Yurio’s little friendship!
And she laughs about Mila’s lift shenanigans, which was definitely fun. Cause I LOVE her.
(About Yakov) “He looks like the Monster in Young Frankenstein. It bothers me.”
There is we a great deal of side eyeing at Lilia and Yurio’s conversation, but she did have a good laugh at the bit with Yakov at the end.
(About the Nishigori triplets) “Each of those little monsters has a different hair style.” “It’s so their parents can tell them apart.”
She thinks Lilia sounds like “that one lady from the Owl House, the old one.” “Eda?” “Yeah, her!”
(Kind of surprising considering we’re watching it in Japanese and she’s only heard Eda in English, but also kind of cool.)
No verbal comments, but a lot of head shaking at Viktor and Yuuri’s conversation on the beach.
My mom does know some stuff about skating, but she still seems to appreciate the explanations of scoring and competitions throughout.
She really likes the cutting-between-Yuris during the skating montage.
“But why is it his last season if he’s only 23?” “You’ll see.”
Overall she seemed to like this one — the actual skating is mostly what she’s invested in, so I think she’ll love the actual competitions. Which we’ll be starting on soon! I can’t wait for her to meet my son Minami…
Anywho. Mixed reaction, she still doesn’t seem sold on Viktuuri but DOES like the show as a whole.
