I don’t know if this has been discussed before, but does anyone else find interesting how Marcus is the ONLY tribute from the 10th games with a name from roman origin? And a very recognizable one at that….

All the other tributes have very simple names, or names that don’t really stand out. And then here comes this massive guy with the name of a Roman emperor no less, looking very much the part of the future victor of the games.

It stands out even more if you take into account how Suzanne was making the Capitol take after roman culture, and making a point of naming most of the mentors after roman people and mythology.

And we know Suzanne chooses the names of her characters very carefully, so I think this was very much intentional.

My guess is that she wanted to make a stronger connection between Marcus and his mentor, Sejanus. They are the most important mentor/tribute pairing in the book —only after the main character and his own tribute— so I can see how she might have wanted them to have a most obvious/direct connection this way.

Here's a Livestream of Thousands of Rattlesnakes in a 'Mega Den'

This can be fun to observe. Snakes aren't my thing as someone who was taught to keep away from island snakes that can swallow a person; then locals have to cut the snake tummy open to find out who's in there.

Besides the scared islander story, my husky used to stop and growl at the brush surrounding the lake on our run. It gives many good reason to read the news in the area -- to see the nature 🚨s .

How'd I know that stuff? It's very likely from reading discarded 📰🗞️ in the 🏥 I used to volunteer at.

Btw the life experiences from being a volunteer at the 🏥 pays off when you're an in-patient chatting with 🥼🧑‍⚕️👩‍⚕️ staff. That and having worked insanely long hours like many of them.

Doctors were cracking up when I showed them my directions to make a yummy milk tea with what they had.

Of course they asked why I'd do that. Easy answer: I don't want to be grumpy when your 🧛 comes by at 4am for blood. I'm a hard stick.

Pema is the lovely albino python and Bao is the tiger. May not seem like a fair trade but Pema is strong and can easily take over.
