#smiling critters: enter the 2000s | silly au

just wanted to let everyone know:

the silly au, Enter the 2000s, is if it was the K-12 movie but Smiling Critters!

it still has the scientists and experiments, but it is completely different than you expect (no kids involved in the experiments for the critters! just my own personal headcanon i had about the scientists replicating human organs and the cartoon show vhs tapes to make the BBI version!)

i'll mainly be working on this as a quick break from working on the main AU!

I don't think I said this before but here it is now:

for Enter the 2000s, the critters weren't made by the child experiments. They follow the same program as the "spares" from Matron in the Playhouse: replicating the structure of the human body and creating a memory box that holds all info known of the critter in said memory box.

So all child experiments that could have been used for the critters are alive.

All critters (except for Perfect Pets, they're not much focused in this AU) are young adults. They're known to be cabin leaders, as I'm not fully structuring the AU based off of K-12, adding some Percy Jackson elements to it as well.

Also note my Playcare analysis (regarding making Playcare more like the critters home) is big for the AU, as I'm changing Playtime Co's structure a bit to make room for the camp-like stuff (the factory is surrounded by the woods, how can i not?).

There's still a lot do wind down like CatNap and their involvement with the Prototype, but what is certain that everyone is very aware that Playtime Co is severely shady.

Let's talk about Enter the 2000s!

This AU has a bit of a parallel between Playtime Co. officials and the Prototype.

The Smiling Critters (minus CatNap) are aware of what the Bigger Bodies Initiative scientists, including Leith Pierre and Harley Sawyer does to both children and adults and they genuinely do want to help with Stella Greybur and Rich Avery on getting most innocent workers and all children out of the facility (even the BBI toys, if they don't get too easily hostile) but can only do so much in secret so the officials don't find out. Most, if not all, the crew are puzzled with CatNap being secretive, DogDay being the most puzzled.

Regarding the Prototype, CatNap is at a hard position. The thing not only saved them and Theodore, but is aware of what it is capable of (Poppy's words). CatNap was able to find out what Sawyer does to the Prototype through logs and files, finding it as also a victim of the Initiative's cruel deeds. He wants to help, but knows they have to do it secretly despite causing rifts between the others. The others label it as "issues" when it is really wanting to do the same as the others do but in a different way.

The dynamic between the Prototype and CatNap is like Megaera and Hades from Disney Hercules, but less sass (sorry Hades fans)-

Matron in the Playhouse is a AU that balances my creativity as a storyteller and character designer with the horror theming of Poppy Playtime. This AU is not fully lighthearted, as it delves into the storyline of Playtime Co. and the Bigger Bodies Initiative. Meaning the AU will be diving into the dark topics the story has, specifically the abuse and manipulation of the work employees and the children by the Initiative. It is technically confirmed that Matron in the Playhouse is a "fix-it" Poppy Playtime AU, delving into all 3 chapters and reimagining how Playtime Co. worked and possible interactions with all BBI experiments. By its universe, it adds context to theories of certain parts of the original story (Ollie's identity for example). The AU has two "angels": Rich Avery and a fan design of the Player. Stories provided will be in either POV, not both at the same time. To explain the age range situation and the shipping: Someone on Twitter has reached out to the creator of the Smiling Critters on Discord about the ages of the critters and the creator has said that the Smiling Critters have no established age and prefer their ages as left anonymous. In my cartoon counterpart for Matron in the Playhouse, as well for both cartoon and BBI for Playcare Awareness and Enter the 2000s, I have the Smiling Critters as preteens-teens. However, I will be working on explaining how the Smiling Critters (BBI) work regards to organs and mind. It may help clear up any confusion for the AUs and the storyline. In regards to this, I only see the ships within the fandom as QPRs and will be shipping them platonically. I do not see them in a romantic sense. Anything before this analysis is strictly outdated and will be reworked. Please do not ask me questions about past storyline lore, I will be telling you that it is outdated and not canon to the AU. fixed my explanation-

basically for Enter the 2000s: BBI scientists used other methods and techniques to make the Smiling Critters (+ all my critter OCs) so no children were used for their work.

but it doesn't mean the critters aren't going to be aware of the other times the scientists use children for their other experiments.
