Along the banks of a creek sandstone scour near auxier ridge in RRG.
A lot is going on in these two pictures but the right picture is my favorite out of the two. My first time seeing Plantago rugellii in person, it’s supposed to be common but P. major was often reported and noted down as P. rugellii, so im not sure if it’s rare or common. Here is the map for the toothed broad leaf plantain, the other species P. major can be lobed but the lobes are round and the leaf is usually entire. The other species in the second picture that was really cool is a riparian creeping Rubus spp. that looks like a Virginia creeper vine at first glance until you see prickles! Rubus rivularis, I only know it from one other site in Ohio along the Ohio River in Clermont(only place in Ohio known). So double wammy for sure. Below is map for P. rugellii
The first picture is a dope example of everyone's smelly favorite Smilax spp. Smilax herbacea, jacob’s step ladder/ smooth carrion vine.

this may be a weird question but is it possible to cause an evacuation panic or reports to police about a dead body because of a foul smelling flower? has something like that actually happened? i can't find any reports though. idk but there are so many reports of durians causing this trouble so i thought of this idea with flowers instead.
Hey there Nonny,
yes… yes, there are incredibly foul smelling flowers that can easily fulfil the purpose you have designated them for, so let’s introduce you to them, shall we?
Amorphophallus titanum – also known as corpse flower, smells (you may have guessed it) like the rotting carcass of a mammal but only while blooming, thankfully it does so for only a single day, native to the rainforests of Sumatra in Indonesia, it has the world’s largest unbranched inflorescence
Aristolochia gigantea – also known as Brazilian Dutchman’s pipe, smells like feces, native to Brazil, attracts bees and other insects but is a fiend to butterflies
Arum maculatum – also known as Jack the Pulpit, smells like feces as well, native all over Europe and in Turkey, can be found in woodlands, attracts lots of insects and is interestingly enough allergic to humans, thermogenic plant
Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis – smells like so many others here like rotten meat, native to New Guinea, attracts flies like all its other buddies on this list, as the name suggests it is a type of orchid and it leaves can achieve a span of four feet
Dracunculus vulgaris – also known as black arum, smell unspecified other than rotten, native to the Balkans and parts of Turkey, has somehow found its way into northern America, attracts lots of insects
Helicodiceros muscivorus – also known as dead horse arum lily, smells as you might have guessed it like rotten meat, native to Corsica and the Balearic islands, attracts plenty of insects
Hydnora africana – smells like feces, native to Africa, attracts insects, a parasitic plant which grows fully underground including its fruit, its flower being the only part being visible above ground
Lysichitons americanus – also known as western skunk cabbage, its smell is unspecified but described as repulsive and only emitted during the plants blooming period, native to swamps and wetlands mostly around the Pacific, again this one too is prone to attract insects
Rafflesia arnoldii – its smell is described as putrid and “not unlike that of a decaying body”, native to Indonesian rainforests, attracts lots of flies and insects like every other plant on this list, a parasitic plant with the single largest flower known to humanity, it can grow as large as three feet in diameter and weigh as much as 10 kg (~22 lbs), it only exists as its flower and has no roots, leaves or stems
Stapelia gigantea – also known as toad plant, smells like rotting flesh, native to Africa, attracts loads of insects and can grow as large as 35cm (~13.77 in) in diameter, don’t ask me why but people keep it as a houseplant despite its odour
The term you want to look for in your search is carrion flower, however, there is a small distinction to make between carrion flowers and plants with carrion scented flowers. The list of the former is actually rather small only containing Amorphophallus, Rafflesia, Stapelia, Smilax or Nemexia and Bulbophyllum. Of the Smilax genus, Smilax herbacea is the most well-known for its scent of rotten flesh.
Carrion scented flowers that weren’t on the list above:
Aristolochia clematitis
Asimina genus
Crescentia alata
Ferraria crispa
Huernia genus
Moraea lurida
Satyrium pumilum
Sterculia foetida
Symplocarpus foetidus
Trillium sessile
Tiputinia foetida
Perhaps these flowers wouldn’t immediately warrant an evacuation, especially if they are known to the people in the area, however, they would certainly warrant investigation of the source of the smell. Given that durians have already attracted attention of the sort your idea is certainly doable, even if there are no real-life examples. Just keep in mind the plant in your story still needs an adequate climate to live at least long to attract the wanted attention.
