☆ Talking in circles (continued): SMG4's Afterlife After Show

In my little afterlife au Niles has really mixed feelings on everything. He regrets his actions greatly and feels horrible for what he put Zero through and feels at least a little remorse for what he's done to the other smg's, the main cast, and Axol but he's not. Entirely sorry. He was doing what he believed was right, what would be most beneficial to him and Zero. His measures were drastic but all he wanted was to be able to live with his best friend, peacefully.

Here's this little blurb from a scrapped interaction between him and Melony that I crammed together a few days ago to better show his feelings I suppose. (Context: he was explaining his thoughts behind his actions to Melony but using the revival of Axol at the cost of another life in place of the creation of his new universe at the cost of another)

Part of why he's not as remorseful for what he did to the others is because he doesn't really know them. So part of him is just like "Why should I care what happens to you or your universe? Why should it matter to me?? I don't know you."

But now, in the afterlife with everyone else, he's growing. He's learning that thinking that way is fucked up and knows he owes a lot of people a lot of apologies. Without the Godbox's powers there to continuously drive him mad he's more of just the sarcastic asshole than anything.

In the end he kind of got what he wanted anyways. He and Zero are together in some type of "universe" again. They may not be "alive" but they're both there and they've got plenty of others with them. It's peaceful (for the most part) and there's no eldritch horror box to continue to warp his emotions. So he's much more calm and clear minded. Funny how not having an evil space box in your ear 24/7 makes ya less irritable, huh?

He's apologized to Zero and Fred, sorta apologized to Axol (he's kind of as ass to Axol but A for effort? They don't get along), and tried to apologize to Spudnick but he doesn't think Spudnick fully understood why he was apologizing or what for.

If he ever got the chance he'd probably try to apologize to Melony but it'd probably go similarly to Axol.

And as much as he doesn't like them, he'd want to apologize to One and Two. He knows he owes them an apology for what he put them through but he also wants to thank them. They blew up the Godbox. Despite not knowing it, along with making sure it can never influence anyone again, they technically freed him from its influence. He's at peace now, he can finally just exist with his best friend and be happy with him. And that's in big part thanks to One and Two.

"Want" to apologize is a bit of a bad way to phrase it actually. Both apologizes would be instigated by Zero. He wants to help Niles recover and be a better person. Whether Niles wants it or not lol.

Who knows, maybe someday there'll be a brief time where the deceased can reunite with their living loved ones and he'll get that chance to apologize?

My interpretation of Niles is that his mind was so warped by the Godbox he genuinely didn't think he was doing anything wrong in the moment. He just wanted to create the perfect world for him and his best friend, that's all. Sure his measures may have seemed extreme to some, but they didn't understand what he was trying to do. They couldn't possibly understand. He was just trying to survive like anyone else, that didn't make him evil. Right?

Each time someone tried to fight against him he would just push back harder because he just needed them to stay out of the way a little longer. He just needed a little more time and all this would be over. That's what he told himself. Each time, "I can fix this" "I can save this" "I just need more time" and each time he failed he grew more desperate and angry and began taking more drastic measures. All while the Godbox was warping his thoughts, twisting his mind, making his desperation worse. He needed to do this no matter the cost. He had to PROVE he could do this. That he was capable. That he wasn't a failure.

☆ Talking in circles: SMG4 edition

With Niles something I haven't seen a lot of ppl talk abt is that he. Definitely didn't want to go off the fucking deep end like he did. When he first starts freaking out, when the powers of the godbox first started effecting him he is visibly afraid/worried. He panics and goes to the godbox to demand it fix whatever the hell is wrong with him. He didn't want to be like that. The Godbox made him to be influenced by it. When he comes demanding for help it further influenced him, giving him some sort of twisted idea of what needs to be done to "fix" him, to make him perfect. Then it goes and charges him with more of its fucked up power, driving him farther off the deep end and causing him to practically go mad trying to achieve what he's been made to believe is what's best for him and zero.

Without the godbox's influence he would have been fine. He started out fine. But he was doomed from the start because the godbox made him with the direct intention of influencing him like it did. Regardless of what he wanted or how he felt. That damn box drove him mad. It made him solely to drive him mad.

I've seen so many people say he was just pure evil and I don't see it. You can tell he cared for his friends and universe because like I said, when he first realizes something is wrong he freaks and goes to try and demand the godbox fix it. Even in his crazed state he still is only trying to do what he thinks is best for him and zero even if his morals are beyond fucked and his reason has gone out the window.

He was doomed from the start and I love him dearly.

Godbox AU Chapter 0: The Entity and the 0rigin

It was such a strange feeling. One moment ago, it was so chaotic, so loud. There was a blinding flash that had engulfed him, followed by a split second of white hot pain that swallowed his body before everything became nothing. Now, it was so quiet, so dark, and he felt nothing. What had just happened to him…?

SMG4’s thoughts collected. Before his eyes, darkness spread in every direction. Floating aimlessly around him a random assortment of destroyed objects, all ranging from broken earth, cake, stardust, and bone. He couldn’t feel the ground beneath his feet, and he couldn’t tell up from down.

“Those must be the broken pieces of destroyed universes,” he mused to himself. “Wait a second, DESTROYED UNIVERSES!?”

The revelation came back into his mind. He remembered now. He remembered the overwhelming grief and rage overtaking his soul as SMG0 swallowed Melonie whole. He had grabbed SMG3’s hand, and used anti-memes to create a penetrating blast that went cleanly through the eldritch demon’s head. The sadness within him was so strong that he had forgotten to go mad with power. He was completely in control.

He remembered pulling Melonie out from the bowels of SMG0’s corpse, and making a break for the exit to escape the Godbox.

He frowned. Usually, that meant that they had beaten the bad guy, and that he should be returning home in triumph by now. 

“Oh hey idiot. You’re finally up.”

“AAAAAAAAH WAIT WHAT?!”

SMG4 whirled around, finally noticing SMG3. “Dude! You’re okay!”

SMG3 scoffed. What a tsundere. “As much as I’m disgusted by your concern for me, we have more serious things to worry about right now.”

“Well duh!” said SMG4. “We have to find a way to get back home! We’re still floating in the vacuum of the Great Beyond!”

SMG3’s face froze as he took a second to process what SMG4 just said. “SMG4… DO YOU SERIOUSLY NOT REALIZE WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO US?!” he asked incredulously.

“Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…no?”

SMG3 gave him the biggest “are-you-kidding-me” expression ever, and then his face suddenly fell. He looked… sad? “SMG4… we’re dead.”

“...Eh?” SMG4 couldn’t quite process what he had said. Surely this was just SMG3 pulling a cruel prank?

But SMG3 wasn’t smiling. He actually looked like he might cry. “Look down, man.”

He looked down. He immediately wished he hadn’t looked. There, floating beneath his feet, were two mangled and charred corpses. The one wearing a torn blue shirt and ragged white overalls was missing a chunk of its right side, and most of its limbs were gone, leaving bloody and messy stumps. It had his face, mouth open in an endless silent scream, and one eye missing, leaking bloody tears. 

The other corpse was wearing a dark blue shirt and ruined black overalls. It was missing a lot of the flesh that used to cover its torso, neck and mouth. Its damaged organs were exposed, and the jaw was completely gone. It was also missing most of its limbs.

Finally, he looked at his own hand. It was glistening, almost glowing, and he could see through it. He waved his trembling other hand to it, and it passed right through with no resistance.

“...What went wrong…?” his question breathed out.

“We didn’t escape the Godbox before it was blown up. The lid closed on us suddenly, trapping us all inside.” SMG3 said in a monotone voice. “But if it’s any consolation, before you uh… gained consciousness? I floated around to look for Mario and Melonie. I can’t find their bodies, so I can only hope that they survived.”

“... Welp. Guess I won’t be buried in that giant grave that I bought some time ago, ehehe…”

“You commissioned a fancy grave for yourself?”

SMG4 laughed embarrassedly. “Some strange girl gave me a coupon for it, I think she was the head of the… Sheng Wang Funeral Parlor…? I couldn’t pass up on the deal!”

“Ugggghhhhhhhh, I can’t believe I have to share my afterlife with you!” SMG3 groaned. 

“O h, y o u  w o n ‘ t  h a v e  t o.” whispered a new voice. Despite it only being whispered, the words echoed through the void, and chilled the two SMGs to their very cores.

Multiple red eyes lit up in the darkness, surrounding the two with their stares. A terrifying, looming presence filled the very atmosphere. 

“H-hello?” SMG4 called out into the darkness. “Who’s there?! What do you want with us?”

“Huh… let me guess, are we in hell? Are you the devil?” asked SMG3. Then he smirked, albeit nervously. “Are you here to give me a seat of honor?”

“Oh god I don’t wanna go to helllllllllllll….” moaned SMG4.

“I am the entity that calls itself the END.” 

Silence. 

SMG4 piped up. “Uh-”

“Your friends have destroyed my vessel. Gone, blasted to smithereens. I will miss my old box.”

Their souls ran cold. The thing they were speaking to, the thing that had them at their mercy, was the Godbox. Well, what used to be the Godbox.

“Be not afraid. I will not take my wrath out on you.”

“However, in order to continue my purpose, I need new vessels. Your bodies, despite being made to combat my power, were also perfect conduits of channeling it.”

SMG4 felt his stomach plummet. He and SMG3 really had wielded the power of the anti-memes. It felt so seamless, so natural channeling that wild, untamed force with a clear mind. And now they had caught the attention of the origin of that power.

“You are worthy replacements to that box I once resided in.”

SMG3 suddenly shouted, “Waitwaitwaitwait hold up! You just can’t take our bodies like that! What’s going to happen to us?! What are you going to do with our bodies!? If you’re taking our bodies, we deserve… uhhh… compensation! Y-yeah! You… four-million eyed eldritch freak!”

“What are you doing?!” SMG4 whisper-shouted.

“I’m trying to stall!” SMG3 whispered back. 

“I suppose you have the right to know.”

“Oh it actually worked-”

“Ever since I came into existence, I had one purpose. I corrupt and consume. Soon you will also corrupt and consume. It will be the new purpose of your bodies. Your minds. Your souls.”

In a flash, the two souls were impaled upon jagged crystals of black and red anti-meme energy. SMG4 cried out in shock, and SMG3 hissed in pain.

“Not only will your bodies fuse with my essence, but your souls will be devoured as well. It will be my first meal, to mark my rebirth.”

The jagged, pulsating darkness began to crawl across the very culminations of their beings, gnawing and eating away at their essences. They tried to scream, but what came out instead of their own voices were primal, unnatural howls. 

“I must have perfect vessels. I intend to become you, in body, mind, and soul. And you will become me, in body, mind, and soul.” 

Red strings dragged their writhing, corrupted souls back into their ruined bodies. The entity funneled the rest of itself into every nook and cranny, entering its new home. Black, glitchy flesh began to seal their wounds, and replace what was lost.

“As for your compensation, I will return you two home, safe and sound.”

Find a puzzle piece AU

This AU is about what if Mr. Puzzles died in Puzzlevision arc and his afterlife.

After defeated by SMG4 crew, SMG3 bombed him, SMG4 shooted him into the sky by canon, to make sure to kill him, and his head is completely shattered piece by piece.

Near by the earth, a little planet ship(imagine Mario's starship but starting planet's looks) was there.

The owner of starship, Rosalie was watching the earth, because she detected something similar to her star power.

She is a tailor, and was alone for 1 million years. Even if she made friends, they always left her for their short lives.

She thought this is the last chance to make a friend just like her species, so she was there.

Eventually, she found pieces of Mr. Puzzles. She felt the power of star from these pieces, so she tried to collect them all and fix it.

One by one, she fixed him almost completely, but some pieces are still missing. Yet, she managed to wake him up.

"Ugh……Where am I…"

"Oh my stars! You're awake, mister!"

"What the- Who are you?!"

"I'm Rosalie! Rosalie the Wish star! ……Would you kindly be my friend, mister?"

At first, Mr. Puzzles confused and tried back to Puzzle Park, but he remembered what he did to the crew and how they hate him.

He will rejected even if he headed to there, further more, they definitely will kill him.

So, he decided to stay her place, and become friend with her. Thought he can use her power for the revenge, or he just wanted to rest.

Still, his arms are hurt by overusing brainwash and his whole body needs repair, they started their adventures by finding the substitution.

Also, some of wounds of the arms are cured by Rosalie's seals. She used it to cover the missing parts of head too!

Rosalie can turned into Luma somehow, and Mr. Puzzles can turned into mini himself too. They sometimes turned into it and think nothing, just hangging out together. Weird, right?

Rosalie has been lived 1 trillion years, yet she acts like from a little girl to adult woman. It switches by her moods. He forgets how old she is at time.

"No- you can't watch Hannibal- It's not for kids, and you don't know how, -well, scary movie is-"

"Puzzles, I lived 1 trillion years and know what kind of movie is." "Oh."

Their relationship changes time to time. Sometimes became Steve and Blue, sometimes Saiko and Meggy, and sometimes him and Leggy.

Her body is literally a doll, but star power made it realistic. She can get out of the body with the star. Her soul is the star, so if you put it out from body, the body will turned into a little doll immediately.

Mr. Puzzles sometimes clean her star to show some appreciation. Also gardening together and make a rose crown for her.

If they get bored, they get into Mr. Puzzles' head and doing role play or recording tv shows.

Just a peaceful, happy ending, that original Mr. Puzzles won't get.

SMG4: Revival AU notes

((These are mostly little tidbits and notes for an AU I’m making for SMG4, or rather, I’ve been working on for awhile, called Revival, which mostly has Axol come back to life))

** the ending to Revelations gets changed, instead of both Niles and SMG0 dying, Niles splits from SMG0 and launches him to the others, sacrificing himself to let Zero have a second chance

**SMG0 stays at Meggy’s hotel for th meantime, with both Melony and Meggy bonding with him regarding losing Niles

**after the credits roll, we see SMG0 in his room, praying that Niles be forgiven for what he did.

**surprisingly, Niles appears in SMG0′s rom, alive.

** the two hug and have a good long cry

**Axol is brought back to life shortly thereafter, being found by both Niles and SMG0, who take him to the hospital

**Axol’s friend from the afterlife, Garcello (yes our boi Garcello from FnF) also gets revived

** Unlike Niles and Garcello, Axol doesn’t come back in one piece. He’s missing his right arm, his left eye, some of his frills, and his internal organs, he’s also paralyzed from the waist down

** Axol does regain his frills, eye, and organs, and learns to walk again, but his right arms is gone for good, so he has a prosthetic now

** Belle and Tari help Axol adjust to using a prosthetic (them having Mreta Runner  arms and all) while Meggy, Melony, Niles and SMG0 help with physical therapy

** Axol and Melony rekindle their relationship, and start living together

**SMG0 and Niles start dating as well

** Garcello and Axol reunite, along with Garcy’s friend Annie, and Chris (Rapping Demons mod)

** the three boys learn that Garcello’s friend King (Post Mortem Mixup mod) gave the three a second chance at life, as he’d done it before with three other people, BF and GF being two such people.

** Axol can now see spirits, which include seeing Desti, SPudnick, and Fred following their friends. He hasn’t seen Greg or Terrance follow Mario or SMG3 though

** Garcello has the ability to go back and forth being human and a ghost, curtesy of his cigarettes

** Boopkins is a therapist to both Axol and SMG0, while SMG3 takes care of Niles and his own therapy

** Garcello, Annie, and Chris become part of the SMG4 crew

**during Axol’s initial recovery, Kaizo’s brought out of the game

** Axol reveals that he drew Kaizo’s design, along with Saiko’s.Mario calls him their dad, only to get promptly smacked by Saiko

** Because Chris is a demon, Shroomy did try to kill him once, until Annie threatened him by drinking “THE LIQUID”

** Let’s just say Shroomy’s now terrified of her.

** Axol was also believed to have been a demon by Shroomy, until Melony scared him in her deity mode

** Niles tries out various ritual games, like Hide and Seek Alone, The Bath Game, and Baby Blue.

** Niles winds up getting possessed by Francis in Hide and Seek Alone

** Even though it’s been confirmed SMG no longer stands for Super Mario Glitchy, SMG3 still calls SMG4 Glitchy, mostly as a pet name.

** SMG0 gets compared a lot to N from Murder Drones, while Niles gets compared to Angel Dust

** Niles has a very bad case of stage fright, and only prefers to sing around SMG0, who he’s comfortable with.

** Back in Mage, SMG0 and Fred both gave Niles his first kiss

** SMG0 has a terrible fear of thunderstorms, as a result, Niles usually sings to him to help calm him down during storms, one song in particular being Seasons of Love from Rent

** Garcello has a stuffed bear from when he was young named “Beetle-Bear”, a green bear wearing a striped hoodie, named after Beetlejuice. He was made by Gar and his dad when he was only 6 years old

** Garcello was adopted when he was 6, his father being Lucks from Meta Runner (this has been my headcanon for over a year do not judge me!)

** If woken up, Melony and SMG0 get cranky, same for SMG2 and JubJub.

** Boopkins has a Pikachu harness he uses to keep an eye on JubJub

** Rob somehow becomes friends with Zardy

** Niles is a top while SMG0 is a bottom

** SMG0 is not a virgin, having lost it to Fred back in Mage before Niles showed up.

** before Niles came along, Fred and SMG0 were friends with benefits

** When Bob tried getting Melony to sing “Can I put my balls in your jaws” Axol shut it down, handing her a different rap. Bob was about to call him out, until Melony started singing Stringer than you from Steven Universe, looking right at Bob and singing “Well, I think you’re just mad you’re still single.”

** Not even King could bring Bob back after that one.

** Mario once tried making fun of Annie for her height. He learned his lesson the hard way.

** Mario once asked why Niles and SMG0 were gay, Niles responded by asking Mario why he’s still bitchless

((That’s all I got for now. Honestly, I’m heavily debating on if I should also revive Desti, Spudnick and Fred down the line, or, Hell, if I should bring in any other dead characters as well. lemme know what you all think))

☆ SMG4's Afterlife After Show

I have my own version of the whole "all the dead smg4 characters exist in a space together and hang out" thing but they're not like. In heaven.

They're just kinda in this never ending white void liminal space type area ?? They've got a peaches castle in there so they have a place to actually live. As for why it's there?? I dunno and neither to they. It wasn't there to begin with and only just recently showed up. Smth abt that castle never being used in an smg4 vid again or at least fir a while idk I forgot my thought process behind it.

Other than that there's a gateway window type thing the group can use to check up on the living cast. Honestly since I've decided they have a castle the gateway is probably a painting. Tho an individual can also just project themselves back down to the showgrounds or wherever but that's just tiring and can't ever really last long so it's not done as often.

The gateway is how they watch the weekly (uploads) adventures and the projection is more so how they check in on one specific person. Axol does this the most, he sits with Melony while she draws or naps.

This au started initially by me having the thought of "What if in Western Spaghetti when the simulation starts tweaking out around Axol and Desti they glitch into like fucked up mangled versions of themselves cuz of how they died?" With Desti obviously having a stab wound and a halo (based off that one merch piece where she also had a halo) and Axol being ALL FUCKED UP. In fact here's a doodle of the idea for said appearance (<— This is in the context of this au so that's why he's so calm. I'll be drawing the aforementioned scene some other time tho).

But yeah that's how the idea came to be so initially everyone was gonna have somewhat fucked up forms

Axol and Desti were just covered above

Zero was similar to Axol with the exposed ribs and had a broken half of Eldritch Zer0's horns.

Niles had that missing texture pattern Axol had on the covered side of his face and the other half of Eldritch Zer0's horns n some other shit

Wren was bruised asf from being crushed and also permanently sopping wet cuz he was in that tank when he died (fucking pathetic soggy cat)

Oh and Spudnick would have been covered in cracks and Fred would have been covered in missing texture patches if i had ever got to sketching them

However

This is no longer the case. Mainly because I just don't like the idea anymore. Maybe I'll still use the designs of smth, maybe I won't. Who knows?

I do wanna do some stuff with this dumb little au concept thingy of mine over here tbh. Being either drawing out scene ideas I've had, shitposts I've thought up, doing an ask blog with them, or maybe making an actual comic with this idea I had where they get a chance to reunite with some of their living friends again. I dunno and it'll be a while before I actually get anything interesting out but yk. Wanted to come ramble on endlessly again abt my newest interest lol.

☆ SMG4's Afterlife After Show Post-"New Director" / 1-up AU shenanigans and late night concepts/thoughts (talking in circles)

Since the Aftershow Cast have spent so much time together, despite their grievances with each others past actions and occasional butting of heads, since none of them could every cause much harm in the afterlife they were all very calm and still do seem to be really calm around each other. Unfortunately, the rest of the SMG4 Crew still need to get used to this

Axol and Niles butt heads a lot but never in a very serious manner. Usually one of them is just trying to provoke a reaction out of the other. They start doing this while around the others and don't really think about the fact they look like they're seriously fighting. Axol jabs Niles and he goes to hit him back which promptly causes Melony to panic and pull her sword on him. Axol was startled and confused before he properly registered why she did that and tried to calm her down and Niles js kinda,,, stood there having his own realization. He fucked up so much, so many people, how the hell is he supposed to coexist with them? They know he's the monster that nearly destroyed them, that killed their friend, destroyed their other friends universe, they have no reasons to so much as tolerate him. Niles spent the rest of that day hovering around Zero and Zero only.

Yk what probably didn't help? Being fully returned to the realm of the living restored some of Niles' previous power, to which his body was still regulating and readjusting to. Niles' eye has always flashed to red with the 0 pupil whenever he gets really upset/annoyed/angry/etc but I like to think while his powers were re-regulating this became a much more common occurrence and since him and Axols bickering does still in part come from a place of resentment I'm certain that jab mixed with whatever remark Axol made annoyed Niles to the point his eye begin flashing or js flat out fully changed. So seeing that and then immediately seeing Niles reach towards Axol in any attempt to hurt him, no matter how playful, probably set off several sets of danger alarms in Melony's head.

Luckily I doubt situations like this will happen often as Niles doesn't leave Zero's side very much. He's the only one other than Fred that actually likes him but even then he still feels awkward around Fred sometimes.

Niles feels really out of place, his head is much clearer but now he's surrounded by people who don't trust him and expect him to slip up or cause trouble. Not to mention he's in a whole new location all over again. He's in an unfamiliar place, with unwelcoming inhabitants, and unregulated powers trying to readjust themselves to his body. So yea, he's sticking to the one sense of familiarity he has: his best friend.

This isn't to say Niles won't occasionally wander on his own though. Zero is really fond of and really likes talking to the other SMGs and as you can imagine that gets awkward FAST so there have been some times where Niles will leave Zero to go meet with them on his own while he tries to find something else to do. Niles hates being alone so he tries to find someone else who can at least tolerate having him around for a while and who he can tolerate being around. Fred is with Spudnick most of the time and the both of them like staying by their respective SMGs. Niles doesn't want to deal with Spudnick (or Mario who usually ALWAYS ends up running into the other two avatars somehow) so that plus the aforementioned awkwardness puts Fred out of the question 95% of the time. He just moves down the list of Aftershow Cast members with the next two options being Wren and Desti, both of whom are typically around Meggy. Wren is trying to apologize and reconcile with her and Meggy is open to trying to move on from everything (Desti helped a little with this. Meggy and subsequently Tari were very hesitant about Wren for a while. But then Desti pointed out that she's been around stuck with him for a while now he's practically harmless so- Yay! Friendship!! Kinda!!) Being around Meggy leads to being around a lot of people who are outright afraid of Niles which also tends to be frustrating.

Niles doesn't go to Axol or at least tries not to. Axol is practically always with Melony which isn't,,, great for Niles whole awkward "guilt" he feels anytime he's around literally anyone. I mean would you wanna hang out with the two people you severely traumatized? Would you wanna ask them to HANG OUT?? But his hate of being alone leads him to just sometimes hover around the same area as them. He won't really talk to them unless they talk to him first, which they typically don't but they leave him be and just hang out in his own bubble. Even if Axol isn't around her, Niles sometimes just hangs out in the same area Melony is in. She's really the only other familiar person he feels comfortable being around. He keeps his distance and does interact with or bother her much but every now and then they'll have a brief exchange.

Niles hates being alone because that means he's got no one there to keep him distracted which just leaves him all alone with his thoughts. Sure there's no cosmic voice driving him insane, but there's his own voice now. When left alone and in the quiet for too long his thoughts start to spin and blur and stress him the HELL out. To combat this, if he is alone he keeps moving. If he's constantly walking around he can find something new to focus on instead of his owns thoughts. Sometimes he'll just opt to go straight for a walk somewhere if he's particularly stressed. He hates when Zero sees him stressing over this new situation. This is a good thing, he's not gonna let his inability to pull himself together be the reason Zero doesn't enjoy his well deserved 2nd chance.
