we didn’t even get a long game conversation- and then disney was like bye gmw- because i remember it like it was yesterday when really it was four years ago.

and just i don’t think we ever seen lucas say shut up to riley but it was adorable and nice to see that side of there relationship also i have a riley song that i thought when you do that pass episode show like how she wished for things to be different its called wondering from the hsmtmts that i thought could fit it any who i just i love them and everything and i will never stop saying but amazing wonderful fantastic show i love y’all love how y’all handled it and just yeah gonna go cry :3
@rucas547 don’t know why the first one came in as anon but THANK YOU MADDISON!! literally so glad you liked the episode
as for that last rl scene... yes. mhm. yes. that scene has been in concept literally since es and i first started writing the show (so like... almost a year old) and it’s one of the few ideas that remained nearly exactly the same as when i first conceptualized it. it’s so important and dear to me for many of the reasons you mentioned -- the playfulness to it in spite of how heavy things are (i really do think riley is the only person that makes lucas feel bashful in that way, and so his “shut up” really has no edge to it and is just... you know, teasing and endeared like you were hitting on); how yes, riley was the first and only person to touch him all episode, and how not only was she the only one to consider that might be something he wants / needs, but he welcomed it and didn’t pull away from it; and then just... the way he actually took comfort in it. like the moment he just drops the strong facade and tucks his head against her shoulder.......... i literally am gone. i will taking a trip to my floor and will not be returning please respect my privacy... god. GOD!!!!!!
that said, i could literally write something like that paragraph about like. every single scene in the episode (although genuinely that one is one of my faves of all time... ever). i’m so glad i was able to share it with y’all and now we can just exist in it together :’)

A/N: This will be my first time participating in Rucas fic week. Hope you guys enjoy it.
Rucas Fic Week 2017 Day 4 // Argument (prompt: even the best of couples have their bad days, but not all arguments are that serious)
It was the start of another school year at Abigail Adams High as half of the core 6 gathered in the cafeteria during lunch period, sitting at their usual table and lost in conversation about future plans as Juniors. Although they have advance classes and college applications to look forward to in addition to their extracurricular activities, they agreed to make the best out of their last two years by participating in other areas of interests.
“Smackle and I plan to join Mathletes this year.” Farkle shared with the group, cutting in the middle of the conversations once he returned to the table with his lunch tray.
“That has Smarkle written all over it.” Zay said with a knowing smile. “You two Math wizzes will fit right in.”
“Boring!” Maya shot back, chuckling playfully as Smackle glared at her. She softened her features and sighed. “Relax, Izz. I’m only kidding. Sorta.”
“And what are you planning to do, Maya?” Farkle lightly nudged her shoulder as she stopped picking at the peas and carrots on her lunch tray for a brief moment and shrugged.
“Oh I don’t know. Maybe take guitar or piano lessons.”
“That’s a great idea, Maya!” Riley joined the rest of the group just moments later with Lucas behind her as she took the empty seat next to her best friend. “You’ve always wanted to learn how to play.”
“Well, Lucas and I decided to take another shot at joining the football team this year now that we are older and taller.”
The blonde female scrunched her nose as a small smile of her own formed on her lips. “Not sure if you grew all that much, Zay.”
“Maya…” Riley warned and the others pressed their lips together from laughing. Zay simply brushed it off, unfazed by Maya’s playful teasing as he gave her a mocking look in return.
“What about you, Riley?” Lucas asked, turning his gaze up to hers. “Any plans?”
“Well…” Riley started off hesitantly, placing the fork down as she leaned forward across the table. “I was thinking about…maybe…trying out for the Girl’s basketball team.”
Lucas’ eyebrows flew upwards as the general atmosphere in the room shifted and the table grew silent. All eyes fell on Riley as she surveyed their faces carefully, looking to see how they would react to the news. But the unnerving silence stretched even further, rendering the core group speechless as she watched their expressions changed from absolute shock to confusion and amusement.
“Hold on, did you mean cheerleading? Because I could have sworn I heard basketball.”
Riley smiled. “You heard correctly, Zay.”
The dark haired boy leaned closer to the blonde. “Maya, is she being serious right now?”
“Um…I think she is, guys.” Riley frowned when Maya looked just as surprised as the others as if she had been expecting something else.
“Look, I thought I do something different, something no one will expect.” She explained, her voice sounding defensive.
“Well this is certainly unexpected.” Zay mumbled, earning a glare from Maya from across the table.
“But doesn’t basketball require a lot of endurance, skill, agility and athleticism?” Smackle questioned.
“And you don’t think I possess any of those?” Riley challenged as the group fell silent once again. “Unbelievable.” She huffed, staring intensely at each one of them. “You guys think I can’t pull it off.”
“Honey, you can pull off anything when you put your mind to it.” Maya said reassuringly, trying to prevent her best friend from slipping into the dark path of Rileytown.
“Thank you, Peaches! Aaaaand…I happen to know the rules of basketball.” Riley added proudly.
“There’s a difference between knowing the rules of basketball and playing the game, Riley.” Lucas responded as all eyes turned to him in shock.
“Oh boy.” Farkle mumbled and Lucas soon regretted saying anything at all as he dropped his eyes to the floor and sunk lower on his seat, avoiding Riley’s hurt and cold, penetrating gaze on him.
“Wow…okay.” She nodded, her eyes drifting shut. “Very well then. Thanks for the support, guys.” Riley spoke dejectedly as she gathered her things. “I’m heading to class.”
“Riles…” Maya made a sympathetic face as they watched her storm off angrily. She then turned to the others and saw the guilt wash over them. “Great work, guys. Way to go.” She groaned irritably as she too grabbed her belongings and left the table to follow Riley to their next class.
“Leave them.” Farkle said, grabbing Lucas’ arm to stop him from going after his girlfriend as he reluctantly sat back down. The table soon fell silent once more as looks of regret and worry spread throughout the group.
“Bravo, Lucas.” Zay retorted, clapping his hands out of sarcasm. “Bravo you…”
“Me?!” He scoffed. “How is this all my fault?”
“We need someone to blame, and you’re the obvious choice, man.” He teased, hoping to lighten the mood much to Lucas’ dismay.
“And you’re supposed to be the supportive boyfriend, genius.” Smackle exclaimed.
“Right?! That’s what I’m saying!”
“But we are her friends.” Farkle countered with hint of guilt evident in his tone. “We all should have been supportive.”
They were quiet for a little while, and when Zay spoke again, he said very softly. “Yea…we screwed up.” He turned to Lucas and watched as his best friend released a heavy sigh.
“Ill take care of it, guys.”
Classes had finally ended for the day. Instead of heading to Topanga’s as she normally did with her friends, Riley found herself in the Cage, a basketball court near her home in Greenwich Village off of 6th Avenue and West 4th Street. Luckily for her, it was empty as she opened the door to the cage and took out an orange basketball from her gym bag that she quickly grabbed from the apartment on the way there. She dribbled the basketball ball in front of her legs over to the basket, performing an easy lay up. Riley turned around to watch the ball fall through the hoop and bounce a few times before doing it all over again.
Her mind was wandering and she was on the verge of tears, fighting to regain her composure. To say she was upset with how her friends reacted about trying out for the basketball team was an understatement. She was hurt, but she couldn’t blame them entirely. In their defense, they didn’t know she could play the sport. Not even Maya who she practically shares everything with. Part of her simply wanted to keep the information to herself. There was something thrilling and exciting about having a hobby no one else knows about. But over the years, her friends have painted a picture of her. To them, she was kind, silly, optimistic, clumsy, energetic, cheerful and loyal—all the things she knew they love about her. But nothing that reveals to them that she could also be an athlete. It didn’t take very long for her to realize how important it was for them to see all sides of her.
Riley shook her head, knowing she was being ridiculous and loathed herself for it as she blinked furiously and refocused her attention on the basket, making shots and releasing pent up emotions that were building up inside.
Meanwhile, Lucas was leaning against the cage door just watching her. He couldn’t believe how incredibly good she was. He didn’t think it was even possible for her to be more incredible than she already is. But seeing her in purple gym shorts and sporting a white New York Knicks shirt with her brown hair up in a messy bun, and making easy jump shots was certainly a bonus. She may be clumsy at times with her form, but she certainly has good aim. It was another side of Riley he had never seen before and it was making his heart giddy with excitement.
“Didn’t think you were a good shot,” a familiar voice interrupted Riley’s thoughts, causing her to quickly twirl around to face him. She was taken aback with fright in the quiet solitude as he motioned towards her. “But then again, Maya was right. You can do anything when you put your mind to it.” The tone was quiet and subdued as he spoke, mentally berating himself at his lame attempt of an apology.
“What are you doing here, Lucas?” Her expression was neutral; her tone even as she discreetly wiped at her eyes with the back of her hand. He looked at her and frowned as he felt his heart contract at the hurt playing across her features.
“I stopped by at your apartment, and your mom said you’d be here.” Lucas watched carefully as Riley moved away from underneath the basket and walked towards him, stopping just a few feet from him. She then tossed up the ball and started to easily spin it on her finger, causing Lucas to slightly snap his head back in surprise. “I wanted to apologize. Clearly I was wrong. You’re good. Really good. And whether or not it was something I already knew about you, I should have been more supportive, and I’m sorry I wasn’t.” He replied, his voce filled with genuine concern and regret. “I’m so sorry, Riley. I hope you can forgive me.”
She stopped spinning the ball, and dribbled it a few times between her legs before she tossed it at his chest, watching him catch it with a grunt.
“Ow. Okay. I deserved that.”
“Make the shot from where you’re standing and all is forgiven.” Lucas looked at where he was at on the court and noticed that he was a few feet behind the three-point arc. It was quite a distance, but it was certainly not an impossible shot for Lucas to make.
“Are you serious?” There was a small twinkle in her eye as Riley gave him a pointed look, challenging him the way she knew how. A playful smirk then ran across her lips, replacing any ounce of sadness he felt from her earlier. “And if I miss?”
She shrugged and smiled. “You better pray you don’t, Friar.” She said, positioning herself in front of him with arms up, ready to defend. He smiled, finding this new competitive side of Riley completely adorable. “But whatever happens, know that I’ll still love you anyway.”
Grinning, he dribbled the ball a few times and blindly threw the ball over the back of his head before pulling Riley by the waist and kissing her softly. Lost in each other’s embrace, they heard the swoosh of the net and then the basketball hitting the ground, knowing it went in perfectly.
“Nothing, but net.” He smiled against her lips as he stared deeply into her loving eyes. She laughed.
“Smooth move, Friar.”
“Did you ever doubted me for a second, Matthews?”
“Never.” She giggled and threw her arms around his neck, pulling him for another tender kiss. “But you’re gonna have to show me a few pointers after that lucky shot.”
“Hmm…better yet, I can give you private lessons if you want.” He offered suggestively as she slapped him playfully on the arm. “Hey!” He chuckled. “What did you think I meant?” Riley’s expression changed into one of sheer amusement as she leaned forward and kissed him again, drowning in the sensations his soft lips were giving her. “Hmm…so does that mean you forgive me?” He asked when she broke the kiss and rested her forehead against his.
With her lips close to his, she whispered. “You’re forgiven.”

In gm acm, remember when the whole gang was in topangas and Riley like threw the confetti in the air and farkle just stared at her with the biggest smile on his face? I haven't seen him smile like that for a while & he just looked so in love! Don't get me wrong, smarkle is adorable together, in gm sweet 16 especially. But the way he looks at smackle is just not the same way as he looks at Riley. It's conditional vs. unconditional love. I still have hope for riarkle:) praying for season 4
I just saw this! I am still devastated we will never get too see them discover how in love they are. That smile was amazing, but also bad at the same time. It showed he was losing some of his growing, but yes I agree. Him, and smackle are great, but they weren’t meant forever. They were getting each other ready for something ^.^
I will forever believe in riarkle. I just wish we could of seen it happen on the show.

Oooh thats so interesting that you like Markle. Can you explain why you think they would work? Love your blog.
hi anon! firstly, thank you so much for the compliment, that means a lot!!
i just wanna clarify, that while i do absolutely adore markle, smarkle is still my favorite farkle fic and my second favorite ship on the show, so i definitely wouldn’t want markle to Replace smarkle, but during season 1 and early season 2??? markle could have been so lit, i would have been so down for them. i would die for smarkle, but i would also hella die for markle.
one of the major reasons that i think that they would work is because they’ve been shown in canon to learn a lot from each other and i think that their differences would allow them to grow. one of the great examples of this is in money, that’s such an important markle episode and maya and farkle both learned something really important from each other. another great example of this is right back to the beginning with girl meets boy, farkle keeping maya’s picture and realizing that there was more to communication and all that than technology is an amazing growth of farkle’s character, and that came from maya. maya and farkle are extremely different, but they also have a lot of similarities that would allow them to work together, but also grow from each other
another major reason that i think that they would work well, is that farkle is one of the few people that maya genuinely, genuinely enjoys spending time with and Likes. this has been something we’ve known since season 1 and it’s something that’s continued throughout the entire show. like everyone likes to say that riley is the only person who  maya expresses her love for, but maya has never shied away from showing farkle how much she appreciates him. while she teases him, she’s very protective of him (seen in flaws, maya’s mother, i am farkle etc etc) and seems to have a mentality of “i can mess with farkle because he knows i’m kidding, but no one else is allowed to mess with him” and farkle has obviously NEVER shied away with expressing his affection for maya, and in my opinion (and this is just my opinion), it always seemed like farkle had stronger feelings for maya than he did for riley.
like, i genuinely just think that farkle and maya could work so well together because they could learn from each other, use their differences to help each other grow. i think maya could help farkle kind of explore a side of himself that he might not explore, and i think farkle could inspire maya to use more of her sense, than her sensibility (maya and farkle are very much a sense and sensibility pairing, with maya being sensibility and farkle being sense). and i also think that they’ve always been super supportive and protective of each other and i do genuinely think that they would do anything for each other. they appreciate each other, and i really really love that.
anyways i love markle, i would have loved to see them explored more because they could have been so good.

First thoughts on Sweet Sixteen
As I write this I am in tears. This was my favorite episode and the most beautiful one yet.
Zayadora was cute as always. Smarkle was adorable and even though I am a Riarkle shipper I would root for Smarkle too.
The whole Lucas, Smackle, Farkle scene was the sweetest. It kind of bothered me that they skirted around the word “love”. But I also understand that they are still trying to figure this relationship out.
I found it very interesting that Riley was unsure of her and Lucas, but Lucas made a comment about Riley and Farkle. (I want to go back and really dissect that scene)
The end scene by far is my favorite. I loved that it wasn’t just a yes or no. There are decisions in life that are to be prayed over, thought over, pro/conned over. They aren’t split second yes or no decisions. Life throws us curve balls and through these we grow. It was beautifully done.
I also just remembered that Maya came full circle. This was a wonderful thing to see.
On a side note: It is episodes like this one that make me wonder why Disney would EVER think to cancel this show. They are doing a disservice to their audience. For the younger audience to see how Riley and Maya work through this in a world where nothing is permanent and most people don’t stay in the place that they are born in is a wonderful lesson. For the older audience so help us in learning how to help our children through trials like these. Disney company for lack of better words are a bunch of idiots. I am extremely disappointed that this show is not allowed to continue. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I heard there is a super adorable Smarkle moment, what did you think of it?
LOVED IT SOOOO MUCHLIKE LITERALLY their relationship is developing more than rucas like my heart was bursting at the seams! What Farkle says to her 😍 we also learn a bit of why Smackle acts the ways she does to Lucas, which is what sparked the Smarkle scene.
