Wilbur sees him for the first time while taking a walk, having been sufficiently stressed out by arguments in the royal court and growing tensions near the border. He completely stops walking, and Phil sees him and smiles, acting as if he didn’t know that he was looking at the current king, and waves Wilbur over, showing off some of the magic. Wilbur asks questions with wide eyes, having completely shedded his “royal” attitude in the presence of such a cool thing, and Phil patiently explains the workings of magic to him
