Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4 Plot Breakdown - Part Three

The Vulture would have been portrayed as an incredibly dangerous antagonist, with Spider-Man being forced to kill him in order to save his own life. The storyboard was revealed:

In the third act, Vulture’s daughter would have taken up the mantle to become the Vulturess and Angelina Jolie was attached to play the role.

Anne Hathaway was also confirmed by Raimi to be Felicia Hardy/Black Cat.

Now things take a more interesting turn…

Raimi revealed that Kraven The Hunter would have been featured in the film.

The guy had an interesting take on the state of Tom's Spiderman. Honestly? You can tell that Tom really cares about the character a LOT, and I think he really wants to see the character done right on the big screen, especially if he's going to be leading the movie.

Based on what I've heard regarding what Sony wants, and based on what Tom has said himself, it seems both Sony AND Tom (and I assume Disney as well) want a 4th Spider-Man film to be "surpassing" of what NWH was. You can hear Tom mention this at Minute: 2:00.

I think the problem might be that Sony feels that having Andrew and Tobey come BACK in SM4 would surely ensure a film that "surpasses" NWH. Tom, on the other hand seems to want a more grounded, simple, and "Fan-Friendly" Spider-Man. Honestly? Idk how realistic it even is to have a 4th film surpass NWH, when it brought back villains AND both Spidermen from the previous franchises. Like, is it even realistic to expect a 4th Spidey film to bring as much bank to the box office as NWH did?? 🤔 Personally? I agree with Tom and the fans. I think the next SM4 film should be more grounded. I love Tobey and Andrew, but I think it would feel a bit campy to have them come back AGAIN for another film. Not only that, but I think Sony/Disney/Marvel should STOP trying to "top NWH", and just focus more on writing a GOOD, solid story! It would be better to create a more grounded SM film for SM4 and risk not having the same box office as NWH, than to rush to make something with all of this campy stuff, and have it be lackluster. 🥴

I don't think the pressure should all be on Tom's shoulders, but I def feel like he can be a huge influencer, because it's obvious that Sony doesn't want to leave him. Tom is showing that he is willing to just walk out and let someone else take on the role if the story isn't to his satisfaction. He's in the upper hand. Sony already showed their hand that they want to KEEP Tom in the role.

I think that's why there are all of these negotiations. Anyway... I'm actually fine with Tom getting rid of the suit if that's what it takes. 🤷🏾‍♀️ He's had a GREAT run as Spiderman. At the very least, he can sign on to one more film, but leave it at that. Unlike what was said in the video, I personally don't think I want to see Tom STILL Playing Spider-Man in his 40s. 🥴

Tom Holland on 'SPIDER-MAN 4':

“The simple answer is that I’ll always want to do Spider-Man films,” Tom told Deadline. “I owe my life and career to Spider-Man. So the simple answer is yes. I’ll always want to do more.”

The more “complicated answer” Tom added is how he and the Spider-Man team approach any follow-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third title in his webbed saga, without retreading past themes. 

“We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect,” he said. “The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.”

He added: “This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s just a really fun stage for me. Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things.”

mj being in sm4 doesnt automatically undo spell. she can still exist as a character. Peter's not gonna forget about her.

plus its heavily implied she remembers/ feels something when he leaves the coffee shop and she was still wearing the necklace.

i personally think all her peter memories with just be spider-man memories. i will be disappointed if they undo it straight away.

also sm 2 has peter pining after mj from a far. she still exists just not next to him. he loses his power because she might love him even he walked away in sm1

same with gwen in asm1 peter breaks up with her then in asm2, theyre together again. till he pushes her away again but he's still follows her and checks in on her.

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4 Plot Breakdown - Part Four

The film would have culminated in a final battle between Spider-Man and Vulturess, who, I believe, would have enlisted Kraven as her enforcer to fight against Black Cat on Spider-Man’s side.

In the final battle, Spider-Man would essentially have "died," and New York would have established a day of remembrance in his honour.

The final shot would have shown a little boy dropping a Spider-Man doll during the parade, only for the camera to pull back and reveal Peter Parker, in disguise, returning the doll to him.

Raimi had planned for Peter to retire the mantle, and I believe this is where MJ would have made a cameo.

In the after-credits scene, inspired by Raimi’s Darkman, the Vulturess character would have appeared, alive and well, looking back at Peter in the crowd.

Unfortunately, the film was canceled because Raimi was dissatisfied with the final script, and Sony didn��t want to delay it from its May 2011 release date, which led to the reboot.

The project was already far along, with a video game tie-in being developed and even Hollywood Undead working on a track for it.
