Hair Care Tips to Avoid Hair Damage
Hair care is a general term encompassing cosmetology and hygiene including the hair that grows on a person's scalp, to some extent, facial and pubic hair, and even to a lesser extent body hair. Hair care routines vary according to the cultural and physical attributes of each person's hair, as well as his or her age. In America, hair care involves regular haircuts and hair dress-up. In Europe, hair care largely includes braiding, coloring, cutting, straightening, and curling, although hair styling is practiced by some people as well.
In Asia, hair care usually involves cleansing, conditioning, exfoliating, and moisturizing. Specific skin types are treated differently depending on where the hair is grown. For example, in India, people with dry skin can use products specific for dry or oily skin; while people with normal or combination skin can use any of these products, depending on their hair type.
When it comes to shampoo, there are two common types: shampoos with synthetic substances and natural shampoos. Synthetic substances may include detergents, dyes, lanolin, waxes, and other additives. These additives may leave-in conditioner on the hair, but this conditioner wears off after several washes. Using a leave-in conditioner during washing prevents build-up of residue in the shampoo bottle, and using a good quality conditioner adds luster and thickness to the hair, making it look healthier and shinier.
When shampooing, always rinse the hair completely, particularly if the strands are greasy. It is best to towel-dry the strands instead of air-dry. If possible, do not wash the strands more than once per day. Use a mild clarifying shampoo when washing hair, especially when it is not needed. It is also advisable to apply conditioner or styling product right after rinsing the hair so that it will be absorbed more efficiently.
Detangling is necessary to give hair its smooth and shiny texture. However, depending on how the hair is chemically treated, some strands may become damaged, especially when styling. So, in order to avoid damage and abrasion, detangling should be done on a semi-regular basis using low heat setting. For example, after washing and detangling the hair, blow-dry the hair using a ceramic rod until the moisture is gone and the curls are softened, then style using a blow-dryer on a low setting. Click here https://www.buywow.com/blogs/news/hygral-fatigue-what-is-it-and-how-do-i-treat-it
While some people believe that washing is enough when it comes to detailing, it is not. If the hair has been washed regularly, it is more prone to micro-definers (bites) and breakage. To avoid micro-definers and breakage, wash the hair as usual after washing with a deep conditioning treatment and rinse well to remove excess water from the strands. Also, do not brush detangling gently with the palm of the hand because the hair can be damaged if the brush is too hard. Finish by brushing it with a wide-toothed comb, which will prevent further breakage.
Another common hair care problem is scalp inflammation and dryness. Dryness is caused by low humidity and heat protection sprays, which can be used once or twice a week. Sulfate-free shampoo is recommended for everyday use. For oily or curly hair types, you can apply deep-cleansing masks once or twice a week. You can also ask your hair stylist for specialized spray for the type of your hair; for example, if your hair has an oilier feel than usual, a sulfate-free spray would work best.
People with dry, greasy or limp hair may require a more intense frizz protection product. There are many frizz protection sprays on the market. Try to find one that contains no SLSs (styrene sodium lauryl sulfate), which may cause dryness. A good conditioner should smooth out rough hair and give a bounce. In addition to the conditioner, you may also use a blow-dryer, but make sure you use the appropriate setting or heat protection products.

The Secret Lives of Serial Killers
is this vile little RPG (less of a full game and more of a concept) where two players - referred to as the Facilitator and the Killer - horrifically deceive a third. the Facilitator and Killer tell the third player (unwittingly assigned the role of Victim) they’re playing a loosely-structured freeform RPG called Sunshine Boulevard that is supposed to be a quirky romantic comedy. there’s a day-by-day act structure starting with like a brief intro for the two characters followed by a meet-cute and archetypal romcom hijinks. on the last day, the Killer brutally hunts down and murders the Victim. the Facilitator apologises and explains the ruse. SLSS was made for the Forge’s old annual gamedev contest called the Ronnies and was not intended by designer Willow Palecek to ever be played. the preface for the rules text even describes it as ‘a horrible, brutal game, that no one should ever play’. even that really understates how nasty, even traumatic this could be if done to someone. it’s not a good game and it’s not a good practical joke. but of course if you search for the game you’ll find plenty of people curious about actually playing the game, or even people asking about this weird Sunshine Boulevard RPG that two of their friends are really into all of a sudden rules text here if you’re interested. there’s no actual violent acts described in there but it’s a frank, clinical document talking about manipulating someone so it’s not a fun read.

White House warns Congress about Artemis funding

White House warns Congress about Artemis funding
WASHINGTON — The White House warned Congress in a recent letter that without funding increases for its exploration programs, NASA won’t be able to achieve the goal of landing humans on the moon in 2024.
The Oct. 23 letter from Russell Vought, acting director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), to Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, addressed overall issues with appropriations bills that Shelby’s committee had approved in recent weeks, including the Commerce, Justice and Science (CJS) bill that funds NASA.
“The Administration appreciates the Committee’s continued support for space exploration, reflected in the $22.8 billion provided in the bill for NASA,” Vought wrote in the letter, first reported by Ars Technica.
He took issue, though, with the funding provided for exploration research and development, which includes work on lunar landers and the lunar Gateway. “However, the $1.6 billion provided for exploration research and development (R&D) is insufficient to fully fund the lander system that astronauts would use to return to the Moon in 2024,” he wrote. “Funding exploration R&D at the $2.3 billion level requested in the FY 2020 Budget is needed to support the Administration’s goal of returning to the Moon by 2024.”
The $1.64 billion included in the Senate bill for exploration R&D is slightly higher than the original administration request for $1.58 billion released early this year. However, in May the White House requested an additional $1.6 billion in funding for NASA to achieve the goal of returning humans to the moon by 2024. That included $1 billion for lunar landers and $132 million for exploration technology, but a cut in Gateway funding of $321 million. Those changes increase the total exploration R&D request to more than $2.3 billion.
The House, which had already developed its CJS bill by the time the budget amendment was released, did not act on the request and provided only $962 million for exploration R&D, approximately the same as in 2019. Vought wasn’t as specific in a May 21 letter to House appropriators about that bill, saying only that the White House was “very disappointed that the bill provides far less funding than is needed to support the Administration’s goal of a near-term human lunar landing.”
Among the programs affected by shortfall of funding for exploration R&D is a lunar lander program. The Senate bill provides $744 million for that work, less than the requested $1 billion.
Other exploration programs, though, received increases far greater than requested. The budget amendment in May sought to increase funding for the Space Launch System and Orion by $651 million from the original request. The Senate bill, though, provided an combined increase of $951 million for the two programs, including an $810 million boost for SLS alone.
Vought took issue with another SLS-related provision in the Senate bill that directs NASA to launch the Europa Clipper mission on an SLS. “The Administration is deeply concerned that this mandate would slow the lunar exploration program, which requires every SLS rocket available,” he wrote. “Unlike the human exploration program, which requires use of the SLS, the Europa mission could be launched by a commercial rocket.”
The letter also offered an unexpectedly high cost estimate of a single SLS launch. “At an estimated cost of over $2 billion per launch for the SLS once development is complete, the use of a commercial launch vehicle would provide over $1.5 billion in cost savings,” Vought wrote.
NASA has been reticent to provide cost estimates for a single SLS launch, although ballpark figures have been around $1 billion. NASA, in its fiscal year 2020 budget request, said launching the mission on a commercial rocket, such as a Delta 4 Heavy or Falcon Heavy, “is estimated to result in over $700 million in savings compared to use of an SLS rocket.”
A NASA Office of Inspector General (OIG) report in May played down the cost savings between SLS and commercial alternatives largely because it offered a much lower cost estimate for the SLS. That report estimated an SLS launch at $876 million, versus $450 million for commercial alternatives.
However, in a follow-up letter in August, OIG said NASA could save up to $1 billion by launching Europa Clipper on a commercial vehicle versus the SLS, adding that NASA needed to decide how to launch the mission in the next few months in order to procure a launch vehicle in time to support a potential 2023 launch.
While there is disagreement about the cost differential, both NASA and its inspector general agree that an SLS would not be available to launch Europa Clipper in 2023, a date mandated in the House appropriations bill.
“Given our current rate of production, we will have three SLSs available, and third one would be for Artemis 3 that takes us to the moon in 2024,” NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said at a House appropriations hearing Oct. 16 when asked about accelerating production of the rocket. He was doubtful a fourth SLS could be produced by then when asked about the availability of the rocket for launching commercial lunar landers. “Adding an additional SLS into the mix? I’m not confident that could happen.”
The Senate did not act on Vought’s letter, making no significant changes to the CJS spending bill when it passed the full Senate Oct. 31.

Nastya Rasputina propaganda:
She was the princess of Cyberia, which is like Revolution-era Russia but IN SPACE and with a lot more cyberpunk flavor. Specifically, she's Space Anastasia Romanov. Space Lenin shot her, so she shot him and accepted an offer from Dr. Carmilla (lesbian space vampire) to become immortal by receiving mercury blood apparently infused with eldritch magic. Later she went back to Cyberia and blew up the planet.
The short story "Breakup" on the website is about Nastya and Aurora (The Mechanisms' spaceship, who is a) sapient and b) formerly a moon, c) a Cyberian battlecruiser, and d) fleshy, somehow) having a massive fight, which prompts this observation:
"'Anastasia and the vessel Aurora coexist. She registers machine-self relations as an unaltered human would register human-self relation.'”
'So what you’re saying is that they’re lovers,' said Ashes. Their face softened as they looked at Nastya, sitting in a corner of the bridge, curled up and staring hopelessly out of the window. “And they fell out.'”
Then Ashes advises the others to just wait for them to work it out, and "Nastya vanished sometime when no one was looking. The others just kept up the Mahjongg and tried to ignore the sounds from engineering. The bowels of the ship began to whir, and then whine. At one point all the speakers burst on in unison and Nastya’s gasps echoed round the bridge. Jonny flung down his chips in disgust."
She fucks the ship. Hell yeah.
This story also confirms that Nastya has "queer orgies" somewhat regularly.
When Aurora gets upset about Briar Rose, a clone who was forced to power a weapons system, Nastya has Brian divert course to go rescue her and then tells Jonny (the ostensible captain) that they're going to go pick up Briar Rose. As pointed out by @aralana765, Nastya played Jonny like a fiddle to get him to agree to springing her fellow space lesbian--https://aralana765.tumblr.com/post/698463081306701824/listening-to-ouatis-again-and-once-again-i-am.
She feeds the octokittens.
She's a violist, which are highly underappreciated.
Finally, there's the short story "Out," where Jonny catches Nastya about to go out of the airlock with a piece of Aurora's hull, never to return. He can't believe any of the Mechs would leave permanently, least of all Nastya: "Nastya, who had fallen in love with the Aurora the moment she had woken up aboard it with mercury flowing through her veins. Nastya, who had only left the Aurora for any extended period of time once in Jonny’s memory – and then to lay to rest some ghosts so she’d never have to leave again. Nastya, who cared for the Aurora better than she cared for herself or anything else in this god-forsaken universe." Nastya leaves because she believes Aurora has been Ship of Theseus-ed, so she's takes the last original piece of "her" Aurora, push it into a star to cremate her lover, and make her exit into the void of space.
In conclusion: I love her, your honor.

So I just got done with a 30 min debate with my sister on whether Marina even has science swag because she’s an engineer not a scientist (not my opinion I know she’s got science swag by being a Woman In Stem).
And my dad, who is an engineer and has been for decades, says not only does Marina not qualify but Ms. Frizzle doesn’t either because she is a teacher and honestly I may have to find a new family at this point.
Okay not to be mean to your family but getting super pedantic and definitional about a goofy poll, to the point of their own exclusion from it, is maybe the most Engineer thing I've ever heard

Do you know if there's a similar poll for mlm scientists?
None that I've heard of, but I haven't really paid attention to the poll scene, so my followers might know of one?
I think it would be kind of redundant tho. We already know Carlos wtnv would win.

hey i really don't think shapeshifter odd squad should be in this poll. she's not a canonical scientist (the point that she made her outfit is absolutely not stated in canon and really it's incredibly likely a different villain made it) and blowing a kiss to an opponent constitutes taunting more than it does being a lesbian but absolutely nothing in the show even points to her being a scientist let alone outright says it
I assumed she was submitted on grounds of "does numbers with the girlies", as outlined in the rules. A lot of these characters are in based on implications anyway, or just wlw finding them attractive. Even if she doesn't do numbers with the girlies- oops and I'm sorry, but 1/64 characters isn't all that bad.
Not to be cheeky but what, materially, could I even do about it? The polls are already out & halfway through round one. Even if she is completely unsuitable, that just means she'll get hydrogen bomb/coughing baby'd out within the first round.

Are submissions open for the science lesbian poll? And if so (or if not when they do open,) where? This poll is for one of my favorite genres of character, so I am very excited about it.
Polls have already started, sorry!

Oh no! It looked similar to the style of the other AA characters but in hindsight I should have noticed. Should I change it, or continue using it + add credit?

Sending lab equipment propaganda. Yes everyone wants to be centrifuged in theory but you can just go to a carnival and get on one of the spinny rides. But have you ever watched a shaking incubator? Specifically a shaking hot water bath. It swirls the tunes around gently in hot water. I think being put in one of those would fix me. You can put the little tiny tubes in floating Styrofoam rafts and they can just bob around in there being cradled by warmth. God I wish that were me
