We have tallied the votes of your survey, and the results are in! 

Winning just by a hair, we will have our first official event, a power blackout, coming this Friday, April 24th! Worry not carnival lovers, this event will be in Silver Lake’s future as well. To combine with this event as suggested by one survey taker, we will have an opt-in, thread pair up during the blackout wherein two characters will get paired up and end up in a location determined by us, the admin/fates. 

 Characters who wish to participate in the thread pair up, please comment their name on this post so we can pair them off with another character. If you play more than one character and wish to have them doing these paras, write both/all their names! You will have until Wednesday, April 22 to do this. Try to consider how active you will be able to be during the event week and only volunteer however many characters you can be active on during that time! 

This para pair up is opt in and not mandatory to the event. Players will be making event-related starters regardless of this, and other players who wish to participate can answer them. This is just something ~extra~ for you to do during the event!

Important Note →

This is really gonna only apply to about three characters right now, but I figured if I set a specific time and date it'd help any questions people might have later.

Every Wednesday at 9AM EST is the group therapy class Tina and Taylor attend. It's at Lima Community Hospital. While Taylor is required to do a weekly journal entry, Tina is not unless Tay would like to.

Hey everyone! We hope you’re having a nice weekend. We’ve pinned a post in the OOC that we’d like you all to check out (we know some of you don't check in there often, so this is just a gentle nudge!) If you could comment below to say you’ve read it, that’d be great.

Today marks 1 year since Silver Lake has been open. Whew, feels surreal saying it. Never did we think we’d be here, writing up a “happy 1 year anniversary to Silver Lake” post. This place was opened as a quick solution for having a group to write, slap-dashed together in 3 days, on an older iteration of a previous blog. For those of you wondering why this blog does not go back 1 year, the rest of Silver Lake was left over at @silverlake-archive. Our old main started malfunctioning for whatever reason, tags not showing up when we posted, among other things, so a rehaul was much needed.

Which brings us to here and now. We have more members and characters than we’ve ever had, we are busier than ever and the dash is thriving. We welcome with open arms anybody who would like to join and throw in their characters into our little hybrid of real-and-fictional Silver Lake, Los Angeles, and welcome them to write with us. Nothing makes us happier than seeing new characters, new faces, and new ideas being brought into the roleplay.

Of course, we’ve had our ups and downs, nobody is perfect and we certainly are not, but we have tried time and again to do our best when issues and problems arise, for the good of this roleplay and for the good of our members. If we have messed up in the past, we strive to do better today and tomorrow, and as always, we are here to hear out your concerns and suggestions on how to make Silver Lake even better than it already is.

Last year was a stressful, troubled year for many if not all of us, and 2021 is proving challenging as well. With imposed lockdowns due to Covid all over the world, it is safe to say that we have all been through some challenging, difficult times, and now more than ever people are seeking out RP. Because of that, we aim to keep Silver Lake running as a fun place for all to throw their muses into and enjoy this world we built together.

P.s. don’t forget — Valentine’s event from the 12th to the 19th!

                                        ……AND WHEN THE PARTY IS OVER!

The last volunteers are still picking up tiny bits of colorful water balloons by the reservoir (and we imagine they will be for the next few days at least - y’know, if you fancy heading down to help out once you’ve recovered from partying the day away!). The party has long wound down on the main streets. Attendees will be dusting that pesky glitter out of their hair for days to come, but the memories made here will last a lifetime..

The Silver Lake Council Committee promised a great prize (in exchange for your mailing list details, address, phone number… whoa - lets not think too hard about that!). And they’re delighted to announce that the name pulled from the hat was AARON CONNORS ( @aaroncon ), you’ve only gone and won yourself a fully expenses paid weekend trip to Disneyland Park for yourself and a friend! Everyone else? Well, enjoy the daily email updates, and that page that says ‘content not found’ when you try unsubscribe!

OUT OF CHARACTER

This concludes our Pride Street Party event! We hope you’ve enjoyed yourselves, as have your characters! Here are a few bullet points of note to conclude with the ending of this event:

You are free to carry on writing your threads related to the event but please, do not post any new starters related to the event! Additionally, will be removing any event-related starters from the starter blog so new members joining us do not accidentally reply to those.

Winner of the event was picked by putting all of your submitted character names in a wheel of fortune. First name to come out won!

New Members Week!

Hey everyone! Along with increasing the numbers by +5 for the spring and summer months we have made the decision to hold a new members week for the next three acceptances, hopefully this will even out spots and allow some new people into the group as we’ve been pretty tight on some spaces for a while now!

Current members will be able to apply again from acceptance on Wednesday 28th April 2021

Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in 2020 anymore. As the fireworks gradually grow more sparse across the night sky, it’s time to pack up and head home for a good night’s sleep. We hope you entered the new year with tired feet and hearts full of joy, and that you’re already starting it off on the right note... or at least that you will one the hangover subsides.

The abandoned house isn’t quite as charming as the night ends and the sun rises over Sunset Junction. With feet hurt from dancing or throats sore from screaming, everyone’s lining up their Ubers and Lyfts to take them home, most far less sober than when they arrived. As we bid the month of October farewell, we hope it’s with spooktacular memories to be cherished for years to come.
