btw when i get to finally touch my desktop pc and my steam account and thus skyrim again (THIS WEEKEND) i'll probably try to play skyrim in english because well. i don't think i ever have?
the french dub is notoriously bad but to the point of becoming charming in its own way. but the translators did do a great job with the cities' names and people's last names. they made them sound soooo poetic. i want to make that clear before i do anything. if you've an interest in that kind of thing i can only recommend you to check french wikis for translations. truly a masterful work imo. in general the french have a sort of burning passion for fantasy just like they have for mangas. geeks who are into fantasy truly have created this world of translated-high-fantasy that becomes its own culture. it's honestly very cool, especially in a world that i think bothers less and less about translating names for a foreign audience.
we literally have the lgbt (la grande bibliothèque de tamriel). no im not kidding. they're putting the whole books you can find in the games on there. the french are insane about fantasy.
#they did it with tolkien.#people use the characters' french names. same with skyrim#can you imagine that with a lot of other media. no#skyrim = bordeciel is particularly genius#also a big fan of vendeaume for windhelm#the only horrible choice they made is faillaise for riften. guys what the fuck is that. even when i was not bilingual and didnt know the og#name was riften. it sounded weird#skyrim
