"They probably know 'bout it and decided to hide the truth from us, poor citizens who don't mean shit. Why, you might ask? Well... I'd love to know that." Something was telling him he shouldn't let this new conspiracy theory grow any bigger, or else they'd end up discussing a fake problem, a totally non-existent one, and they were sober as a judge – this kind of conversation was great for drunk Skyler and Richard.
"Of course, that's what you'll do – what kinda hell would it be if I'm not in there with ya." Skyler grinned, as if being a professional pain in the ass counted as something one should be proud of. In that case, the pillow thrown at him was even more understandable, and instead of dodging it, Skyler accepted his fate, he only made enough effort to avoid spilling anything when the object hit his face. Stuck between miserable and brave, Skyler started explaining what sort of angry demons and haunted places waited for them today.
"Well, we've got this strange lady with her two daughters, who thinks the place is haunted. No flyin' plates, mostly noises. The only neighbors they have told us they haven't seen or heard anythin' unusual there, but that building's huge, if I moved there, I'd fuckin' starve before I found the kitchen; I'd need a damn snack for that expedition!" Skyler smiled slightly, knowing he was exaggerating – as always. "Anyway, I think I have a theory...?"
" 'Don't go to sleep'. Brilliant. I'll make sure to contact the medical community 'bout such ground-breakin' advice in the world of health and sleep," grumbled Richard, curling up as tight as he could beneath the covers and trying his level best to press a pillow against his ear. Alas, there was no blocking out Skyler's annoying voice. There was no turning back now.
"In tha' case when the gates of hell open I'll make sure to drag ye' down with me by yer' ankles, seein' tha' we're in this together, darlin'," grumbled the Scotsman, his grumpy face finally peering out of the covers before throwing a pillow at Skyler's head. "Fine, remind me wha' this case is again? I know it had to do with some sorta castle, or estate, or mansion, or some sorta large, posh place, righ'?" he croaked, as he crawled out of bed and stole one of Skyler's coffees.

Name: Skyler Luca Kinzie Pronouns: she/they Birthday: September 29 Zodiac Sign: Libra Age: Late 20s Sexuality: Queer Occupation: Talent Scout Favorite Drink: Classic Margarita Favorite Movie: E.T.
Mini Bio:
Skyler essentially grew up as an only child even if she did have a sibling. Skyler and Brodie didn’t know about each other for the first 12 years of Skyler’s life. Brodie was the product of an affair and Skyler didn’t find out about her until her parents were getting divorced.
Finding out about Brodie was life changing but in the best of ways. The two connected instantly, thick as thieves right from the start. While Skyler held a little resentment about how she found out about Brodie, she was just happy that she had the bigger sister she always dreamed about.
Before Brodie, Skyler’s cousin Dayton was their best friend. Dayton still was their best friend, but he got a little weird for a few years when Skyler and Brodie were connecting. Luckily by high school Dayton had gotten over his jealousy and they could rule their school together.
Skyler and Dayton did everything together, they were truly the best of friends. Skyler was one of the few people who really understood Dayton and didn’t count him out before he had a chance to prove himself. Sure he was a little much but so was she.
Skyler loved getting into trouble, that was the one thing she did without Dayton. Whether it was going to parties and indulging in whatever they could get their hands on. It got her into trouble every now and then but her dad was always there to bail her out.
College and a traditional career path was never something that excited Skyler, it all seemed too boring and stuffy. She wasn’t destined to work at the family company like her cousins were.
Luckily Brodie was a few years older than her and was already making herself in the music industry, she was on the path to take over a rather large record label. Brodie made it known to Skyler that she needed someone out in the world to find talent for her. So instead of college Skyler went to work for Brodie. She quickly found that she loved it and with Brodie’s help she climbed the ranks.
While work keeps them busy Skyler still finds plenty of time to go out and party and enjoy herself. She doesn’t see herself as the settling down type, she saw how that went with her parents and she doesn’t want to live a life like that. While she’s not opposed to commitment it is not something Skyler is actively seeking.

How do you feel about Richard acting strange ever since he got his hands on that creepy music box?
Ask my character "How do you feel about ______?"
“Not so great, if I’m bein’ honest. Much as I’m happy I didn’t take that shit home myself, I’m startin’ to feel that I shoulda stopped Richard. It was a bad idea right from the beginnin’ 'cause we don’t know what that music box is... And it’s creepy as fuck. Slightly less than the dolls in that room... But still creepy.”

They had recorded their last podcast for that week, and Skyler sighed with relief. Finally, a well-deserved break – without skeptics trying to convert them, without fanatics thinking they were best buddies. For some reason, Skyler preferred those people who still had some doubt in them but weren’t afraid to believe in something that sounded, well, crazy. Unfortunately, they were the rarest group so if somebody called in, chances were that it would be either someone overly enthusiastic or some grouchy unbeliever. He was more than ready to spend this weekend offline, hoping no crazy emergency situation would interrupt him.
“Have you heard that last guy?” Skyler shook his head in disbelief, fixing the bag on his shoulder as they headed to their cars. “He fuckin’ thinks we’ve got some fishin’ line on us all the time, just in case?” He laughed bitterly, looking at Richard. “I don’t give a damn if he believes in supernatural or not, he’s the one who listens to podcasts that don’t even match his interests.” With a sigh, he opened his car and tossed his bag into the car, then he turned to Richard. “Anyway, what do you think 'bout that last house, hm? I didn’t wanna talk about it on air, but I still think we haven’t cracked it yet. Or that the owner’s lyin’ bout that toy.”

He wasn’t one of those people who left parties early and wake up in their own bed (alone!) the next day and sometimes, he wasn’t even one of those who knew which party they came back from. Today, Skyler was one of those people who still didn’t come back home, who wouldn’t know which party they came back from... but he didn’t feel guilt at all. His newest partner in crime seemed to be ok with that too. They’d met a few hours ago at a club, bonded by that DJ’s terrible taste in music, and after a short conversation (and a few drinks, of course), they’d learned that they had a few things in common. One of them was their love for fun inducing substances.
Lola was fun, witty, the fact that they shared a few hobbies was absolutely delightful, and Skyler liked the fact that he could add ‘attractive’ to this list made her a perfect partner in crime in Skyler’s eyes. His sober self would probably appreciate those more regular, down-to-earth things but the problem was that neither he nor she was sober when they met. He surely didn’t mind being that carefree, just like he didn’t care about how they left the club-... What place had they gone to, actually? He could tell why, for it was much easier - the music, the people, the atmosphere. But how did they end up here? One thing he could tell for sure was that it was someone’s house party and the building was rather tall, tall enough for the guests to enjoy the view if they still could. London looked exceptionally beautiful from this perspective, almost detached from the real world, just like the guests.
Slowly forgetting about the gorgeous view himself and having completed his mission to make their glasses full, Skyler made his way back to Lola, two drinks in his hands. “I’m back and look at what I’ve found!” He smiled proudly and sat down on the window sill. “That weird semi-goth girl has just left, though, so we’ve lost our source of entertainment and I won’t be able to get that lovely bracelet for ya... Oh, hey, she’s over there!” Pointing at some random person walking in the street, Skyler realized that, from this height, all he could see was a silhouette only. It could be literally anybody. “Well, fuck, maybe not... What were we talkin’ 'bout before I left...?”

(can't trim the post in beta, help pls :( )
Skyler chuckled at the sound his friend made. He placed the box on the table and picked one coffee, immediately regretting that he didn't spike both for a better start. "Hey, wanna know the best life hack I have? Don't go to sleep at all, waking up won't be a problem," he replied with a grin. Actually, it was and wasn't a lie – he didn't go to bed and spent most of the night playing an old game he had found. What he didn't mention was a long nap he had before that. "I understand the pain, but I'm not goin' anywhere, we're in this together, my dear!"
skyler-bane:
“Wakey, wakey, we gotta leave soon and you’re not answerin’ your damn phone,” he yelled out as he pushed the door open and carefully closed it behind him, now carrying a small box and two coffees for breakfast. “Hope you’re ’almost ready’…!”
Sweet, deep, peaceful sleep. Richard couldn’t think of anything else that was pure and abashed bliss. In fact, it had been a long time since the Scotsman managed to steal himself uninterrupted sleep. Hell, he could stay like this for hours more. Hours and hours and hours of--
A raspy grumbled broke from somewhere in Richard’s throat as his sleep-fueled face crinkled at the sound of Skyler’s familiar voice. “Remind me to change the locks of my door,” the Scotsman grumbled into his pillow, before burying himself deeper beneath his covers. “Now go away, ma’e. It’s like four in the mornin’, which means it’s absolutely insane and pro’ly illegal or somethin’ to be awake durin’ this hour.”
