Skyler zoned out for a moment, waiting for the last file to upload before he could call it a day. This job wasn’t the easiest but he wasn’t complaining; he'd always liked challenges was quite lucky to be able to get a ton of those at work. Absentmindedly spinning a pen between his fingers and his eyes glued to the progress bar, the man waited for the task to be finished, and when the moment came he leaned forward to make sure everything was fine. It was, so he unplugged the USB stick and put it in a box he then would hide somewhere safe in his apartment.
It wasn’t even that late when he finished, so Skyler grabbed his phone to text a few of his friends, see if anyone wanted to go out for a drink and pizza, celebrate another evening without rain, which was quite a big deal in London these days. Not that he was complaining, he actually liked those rainy evenings, but for now, good weather was precisely what he needed. He unlocked the screen and there was a text message waiting for him. It was from Lola and, for once, she didn’t mention any of their usual ‘fun activities’, like they usually did when they texted each other. This time she wanted to talk about something seemingly important and Skyler’s curiosity piqued. Nothing they should have a serious conversation about has happened between them. He texted her back, saying that he would be there in half an hour, grabbed his leather jacket, and headed out of his apartment.
By the time he finally reached Lola’s, place the weather has changed and Skyler was glad he hadn’t texted any of his friends. Raising his hands to the sides of the slightly damp hood he pushed it back and knocked on her door, checking his phone one last time to make sure there were no new messages and he didn’t come here for nothing.

He wasn’t one of those people who left parties early and wake up in their own bed (alone!) the next day and sometimes, he wasn’t even one of those who knew which party they came back from. Today, Skyler was one of those people who still didn’t come back home, who wouldn’t know which party they came back from... but he didn’t feel guilt at all. His newest partner in crime seemed to be ok with that too. They’d met a few hours ago at a club, bonded by that DJ’s terrible taste in music, and after a short conversation (and a few drinks, of course), they’d learned that they had a few things in common. One of them was their love for fun inducing substances.
Lola was fun, witty, the fact that they shared a few hobbies was absolutely delightful, and Skyler liked the fact that he could add ‘attractive’ to this list made her a perfect partner in crime in Skyler’s eyes. His sober self would probably appreciate those more regular, down-to-earth things but the problem was that neither he nor she was sober when they met. He surely didn’t mind being that carefree, just like he didn’t care about how they left the club-... What place had they gone to, actually? He could tell why, for it was much easier - the music, the people, the atmosphere. But how did they end up here? One thing he could tell for sure was that it was someone’s house party and the building was rather tall, tall enough for the guests to enjoy the view if they still could. London looked exceptionally beautiful from this perspective, almost detached from the real world, just like the guests.
Slowly forgetting about the gorgeous view himself and having completed his mission to make their glasses full, Skyler made his way back to Lola, two drinks in his hands. “I’m back and look at what I’ve found!” He smiled proudly and sat down on the window sill. “That weird semi-goth girl has just left, though, so we’ve lost our source of entertainment and I won’t be able to get that lovely bracelet for ya... Oh, hey, she’s over there!” Pointing at some random person walking in the street, Skyler realized that, from this height, all he could see was a silhouette only. It could be literally anybody. “Well, fuck, maybe not... What were we talkin’ 'bout before I left...?”
