Skyclan Reborn Chapter 4: The Mother
Sidenote, this is the next installment of my Skyclan AU. Im posting this chapter because I want to keep it going and see if anyone is still interested in it. Previous chapters are tagged #skyclanreborn and should be easy to search on the blog.
He regretted agreeing to this.
While he couldnt avoid his promise to Pansy to visit the clowder forever, he had decided that visiting them at night would be much more dangerous for him, so he had waited for the open light of day to approach them.
The mixed scents of the clowder just reached his nose, but he stood respectfully at the edge of what he knew to be their territory, in a cluttered grassy alleyway which was their main entrance. Even as he debated whether he should stay or turn back, one of their patrols rounded the bend, and stiffened at the site of him.
One of the shecats, a bristling brown tabby, he didn't recognize, but the other, bigger black female he knew. Raven. He was pretty sure he had a small scar hidden under the fur by his jaw from a warning swipe she gave him once.
Just because he was allowed near the clowder did not mean they took kindly to him getting too close to the younger kits.
“Oh, it's you.” She said drily, her tail swishing back and forth in irritation. “Wonderful. Cricket, go tell the Mother that her wayward son has dropped by for a visit.”
The younger female looked confused, her fur flattening as she hesitated. “Uh, okay Raven.” She glanced at both of them once more, but scurried away as Raven had suggested.
Sky took this as an invitation to step forward. When he did he caught the female's scent. “Oh, congratulations, I hope your little ones are doing well.”
This earned him a withering glare. “You should know better than anyone how much that is not your business. How's Shiloh? I see she hasn't accompanied you.” Her tail could have hurt him from how vehemently it lashed.”Worried she would finally come to her senses and leave you once she saw a sensible and civilized living situation?”
“Her kits are due in a half moons time. She's started a nest already in a quiet little place.” He mewed. “I've just come to see how mother is getting along.”
Raven narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously. “Mind you don't lead any others astray, or I'll personally drive you out with your tail between your legs like a dog.”
A shudder passed through Sky's fur and he simply mumbled “Yes ma'am,” and followed her towards the courtyard.
He was always immensely impressed at how his mother ran things. She only had about six or seven queens and a few young adults, but there was always someone hunting, always someone watching the kits. She took turns doing both herself, though she most often cared for kits. In fact when he entered the courtyard she was entertaining three of them, who were between the ages of  two to four moons, weaned but not independent.
A queen sunned herself in the corner of the courtyard, the brown tabby lazily opening her eyes every once in while in the direction of the kits before the Mother. The tang of milk and nursing mothers hung in the air, but he didn't even so much as twitch in that direction. They would have torn him to shreds if he had.
As he approached her the kits scampered back to their mother, clamoring about how one had caught a ladybug and it tasted yucky. Before him, The Mother stretched, the blue of her fur almost the exact same shade as his, but speckled and brindled with cream and patches of white  on her paws and chin.
“Ah Sky, back again? Most of my sons have moved on to a new place. It almost seems as if you are stuck in the past darling.” The words were smooth, gentle, but a warning. Four visits from a kit long grown was a bit excessive.
“I thought you should know that Shiloh is doing quite well. She will kit soon enough,” he said quickly, trying to fill the void her stare had left.
The  lovely pale queen stretched again, this time unsheathing her claws. “Oh? I hope you make sure to treat her and those kits well. She would be within her rights to mark you if you didn't.”
This was getting out of paw. “I just came because I w-wanted to see if you have any kits who are going to be leaving soon. I'm… rebuilding Skyclan, like Gramma Rain used to talk about.” He stumbled over his quick words.
As abruptly as the sense of menace had appeared, it was gone replaced with amusement and incredulity as his mother rumbled a loud laughing purr. “My dear kit,” he ignored the insult, “Those stories are ancient, from your Grammas mother. I know you are fond of stories, but you have a mate and kits to care for now. Time to get your head out of the clouds, Sky.” She turned as if in dismissal but he held his ground.
“Please! Just… let me talk to some of the older kits, the ones who will be leaving soon. They don't have to join me, but I can at least give them an option.”
There was a moment of silence, in which he could almost feel Ravens claws sinking into his back to drag him away. But before she could, the Mother sighed. “Very well… I never could deny my eldest son. And it seems you may have found an interested party after all.” She waved her plumed tail at two young cats who had appeared from behind a building nearby. One male and one female. It was the shecat who approached.
Her dappled gray pelt marked him as kit to one of his sisters, similar in shade to his own. “I'm Ash. I heard what you said. You're looking for cats? Will you take my brother and I? We would rather not be separated.”
Indeed the cream tom she indicated looked very uncomfortable and uncertain, though he gave Sky a friendly twitch of the whispers and a warm blink.
Ash addressed him again. “I'm not quite sure what a clan is, I've only heard some of the stories. But if it's like a clowder where both toms and shecats can be together without harming each other. We'd be glad to do so.”
Sky was so surprised he kind of stared at her in shock before babbling an affirmative. “Of course! Yes! Sure! We can get you a nest and then we can teach you to hunt and fight and--”
“Good,” The Mother’s quiet voice cut through Sky’s words like a tooth through a mouse’s neck. “Now that that is settled you can be on your way. Ash, Barley, let your mother know, and then our blessings be with you.” She turned away with an air of finality that sent an odd shiver down Sky's spine.
It was only later, as he was halfway home and chattering to the two young cats, getting to know them and talk to them, that he realized he had forgotten one of his main goals in speaking to his mother. He still wasn't quite sure how clan names worked, or how clans were structured. Oh well, he would just have to bumble it on his own somehow.

Skyclan Reborn Chapter 3: A Pansy by any other name
Sometime later, Shiloh woke Sky with brisk licks to his neck. He replied with a sleepy purr, closing his eyes to enjoy the sensation. But then it abruptly stopped, and Sky blinked his eyes open to see Shiloh staring at the stone back wall of the den. “What’s wrong?” he asked quietly, thinking she might have seen something, or heard something.
“What are we going to name our kits?”
Sky froze, not sure how to respond.
“I suppose,” Shiloh continued on, unaware of her mate’s complete confusion, “That we would follow some sort of form? I believe the clans were said to have some odd names. Do you know anything about it?” She looked thoughtful, and he couldnt help but trill a little at her. Shiloh was always so prepared, forward thinking. He would have come to the kitting and probably panicked and called his kits something silly like Feather or Whisker. He wondered if thats why mothers traditionally named kits, they seemed to keep their wits about them far better during kitting.
A moment of silence lapsed before he realized he had forgot to answer the question, and he noticed his mate’s paw twitch and her claws slide out, and she inched it towards his rump.
“Oh! Right, umm, well Im pretty sure clan cats only ever have one name. Thats it, its their name, whatever they are given from birth in the clan is what they are know as to everyone.” Sky skooched away from the vaguely threatening sharp claws.
Shiloh actually looked towards him again, head quirked sideways. “Really? Interesting. I guess it would make it simple, no keeping track of who calls you what. Although Im not sure how that would work with the humans. No matter how hard I tried as a kit, no human could ever say my name with their atrocious accents.”
SKy snorted. “Their heads are too high in the sky, it probably all sounds garbled to them up there.” He tried to think back on anymore that he could remember from the stories. “I think they had two part names? Like one was given at birth and the second part was earned as some kind of reward for becoming an adult?”
“So essentially,” Shiloh repeated in the same thoughtful tone, the flecks of ginger in her tail like flying embers as she flicked her tail back and forth, “The first is what you are at birth, something that a mother could look at a tiny kitten and say, this little kitten reminds me of this. And then the second part is what the kit does, or how they act?”
That was a far better explanation than what Sky could give, hopefully it was right. It was hard to know exactly how it worked, considering that all they had were rumors to go on, and stories of the great warriors of Sky’s ancestors in Skyclan. He would have to ask his mother, who had had more time to hear stories from his grandmother about it. She would definitely know.
Shiloh nodded, looking thoughtful. “So if we built this clan, every cat would be named in the same way, right? That way we become a real clan? The only way for us to do that, is to make sure names would be really obvious, like connected to what they look like.”
Sky nodded, unsure where she was going.
“I think I would go by Pansy, you know like the flowers that bloom in the cool of spring? The first Housecat I knew called me that,” she mused.
Sky jerked, surprised. “You would change your name?” He said in a more high pitched tone than was probably necessary. She returned his looks with a level stare.
“Of course. We cant exclude ourselves from the process because we started it. Although… you might be able to get away with it, considering your name fits what you look like.” She looked him up and down, narrowing her eyes and flicking her ears, but softening the gesture with a smirk. “Funny how things work out. Almost makes you believe in all that destiny nonsense.”
Sky huffed slightly, peeved and a little embarrassed. His name wasn't totally uncommon, many cats were named after what they looked like! And then he remembered the ancient clan he was descended from was named Skyclan and he felt quite awkward. He cleared his throat, hoping to divert his mate’s attention. “So what were you thinking then? For the kits names?”
The tortoiseshell snorted a little. “Well we wont know til they are ready to come, but I do like bird names.”
He shrugged as well, remembering why he had been glad the topic shifted in the first place. “I guess it depends how much they take after you. There arent that many things which happen to be yellow and black at the same time.”
“There are more birds than anything else,” the she-cat retorted with a smirk.
“I guess.” He said with a petulant swivel of his ears.
The two settled down closer again, and Sky nuzzled his mate’s belly. “Whatever their colors are, they will be beautiful,” he said with a tone filled with certainty. “And they will have gotten all their good looks from you.”
Shiloh swatted him lightly with her tail. “Oh please, you sell yourself short. Your mother is a beautiful,  elegant she-cat.” Then her whiskers started to twitch. “Of course maybe those good looks skipped you completely.”
With a chuckle and resounding purr, the two cuddled for a little longer, until the fading light caught their attention. The two stretched, bumping into each other and mingling tortoiseshell with white and gray fur.
“So,” Sky began, his excitement building again, “I guess Ill bring us back some prey and then we can head back out? Now that we’ve found a place, we need to go talk to other cats, invite them to join us!”
Shiloh brushed against him. “I think you should visit the clowder first.:”
But…. do you think she’ll even let me  in? After last time with you and--”
“Oh she will, you’re her favorite son. She cant say no to you. Even though I wonder if she sometimes should.”
He grinned and twitched his whiskers at her. “Is that so? But then what about us?
“I’m sure I would have found some tom to settle with,” she quipped. “Or I would have simply remained with the clowder. They always appreciated my presence, and told me I could always come back.”
Sky flicked his tail and frowned. She wouldnt leave him, would she? No, that small slow kink in the tip of her tail told him she was joking.
“Alright, I’ll go. I’ll be right back with some food, and then head off to the clowder.”
“Bring me a mouse if you would, that sounds quite good at the moment,” murmured Shiloh.. Pansy… whatever she was going by now. Sky paused at the entrance and gave her a long slow blink before slipping out to find that mouse.

Some older art, not super happy with it, but i still love the designs.
This is Mara and her daughter Ray, who become Minktail and Hazelfoot on joining Skyclan. Mara is older, and has had several litters, but Ray is from her most recent litter (And her friends would say the reason she’s decided not to have any more kits). Ray is a young, energetic, and flirtatious cat, who is constantly leading other cats on. But whenever she tires of her latest fling, she always returns to her mother, bemoaning her broken heart. Mara never turns her away, despite her attitude and self inflicted heart troubles, she loves her, even though she drives her crazy.

Ash and Barley are two of Skystar’s half younger nephews and nieces, from one of his sister’s most recent litters. They join the clan because Ashpaw feels responsible for her brother, refusing to leave him, and he joins the clan because as a tom he would be unwelcome in most any groups, particularly the clowder they were born in. So Skystar offers them a place with him, and they become the clan’s first apprentices.

Skyclan Reborn Chapter 2: Home is where your nest is
The sky was streaked with pale pink blue, signaling the coming dawn when they awakened, uncurling from each other. Sky was eager to set out, tail twitching restlessly as he waited for his mate to finish making dirt.
She  came back around the corner and rubbed up under his chin. “So, where are we going?” she said.
He froze. Oh, right, he probably needed to know that. “Uhhh…” he trailed off, embarrassed. “Maybe to the dawn side of the city? No, wait. We should go just outside the city. More prey and less competition!”
Shiloh purred in agreement. “Sounds like a good option. Only problem is I don't know much about that area, and some of the city cats might find it difficult to navigate and hunt there.”
Sky had already started off towards the corner before she had finished.  “That's okay,” he said as they paused to check a nearby road before crossing. “We haven't figured out the boundaries yet, so we will all have to learn the area.”
They crossed the road and many others like it, until they reached the edge of the city. There was a four lane road ahead of them, more dangerous than the normal  ones. Cars were far faster on this one than others, and it was busier.  They had to wait a long while, and took it in two parts, resting in the middle before finally passing over the last two lanes.
Once they got to the other side, and were met with the quietness of the upward sloping forest, they were able to speak again.
“I think that road would be a good dusk side boundary.” Sky commented. His white and gray pelt was a stark contrast against the dark green and brown shadowed undergrowth. High above them the tops of oaks and maples crowded together, while smaller trees grew in patches of rare sunlight. Actual ground plants like ferns and bushes were thick and jumbled, but the two cats managed to pick their way through them on paths worn into the earth by large prey animals.
For Sky it was a land of wonder, and although he had not been back in the area for many moons, he was able to point out with his tail several landmarks which Shiloh could use to guide herself out and down back to the city. He was glad then for those few moons of misspent energy as a youth, trying to live out the fantasies of his grandmother's stories. Now he would be fulfilling them after all.
In his contemplation and excitement, he realised he had gotten several tail lengths ahead of his mate. He was about to turn back to wait for her when an unsuspecting mouse ran right over his paws. On instinct he lashed out, and although it was a poorly aimed strike, it knocked the mouse off balance long enough for him to finish it off. With a smirk, Sky wheeled around with the mouse in his jaws to deposit it at his mate's paws.
Shiloh looked him up and down, whiskers twitching with amusement. “I was about to ask where that abundance of prey was, but I see the question answered itself.” She looked down at it curiously. “You caught that quite easily. I guess these prey creatures are not accustomed to equating our scent with danger. That will be useful.” She munched on it quickly, not wanting to disrupt their journey.
They followed the line of the ridge, up into the mountains, until reached small break which led into a valley. Their side had a steep sharp incline, and although they heard it, they nearly stumbled upon the stream rushing at the bottom of the valley because of how dense the foliage was. At this point in the valley, the stream was choked in on both sides by steep banks, and the water was deep, rushing with a dark undercurrent. Sky glanced over at Shiloh with a question in his eye, and she returned with a shake of her head. Not a safe camp. They followed the stream in its roundabout way, which at first seemed to go closer to the city and then veered off. The steep walls tapered down to a smoother area and the stream split off into another valley junction. But there the trees were too sparse, the cover not good, and there were even traces of humans and firepits. They continued on.
By the time they finally found something it was mid-day, and hot. They had been dipping their paws occasionally in the water when they needed to cross, and were partially in the water when they came around a bend. The little area was breathtaking, with shallow quick moving water and little islands of grass and stone. One bank was a nicely forested area with massive rhododendron bushes dipping into the water. The other side was a broken cliff face, which looked to be the remains of some old waterfall. At the base, the water had eroded the rock, and even in one spot there was enough space that bushes grew from the water to the craggy broken stone. Several secluded niches were visible, and Sky headed towards one, fascinated. Shiloh followed, choosing her paw holds with the utmost care as she crossed the stream.
“This looks perfect!” Sky said, rummaging through the bushes around the stone face.  It was a struggle for him to focus, every movement and flash of color stimulating his senses and catching his attention.  He heard Shiloh pass nearby with a scrabble of claws and pebbles. She called out to him, “Love? Come here real quick.”
He obliged, scrambling further up the stony bank to meet his mate at a jagged crack in the wall face. The tortie she-cat, pelt sparkling like ripples on water from the sun on her pelt, scraped at the wall, dislodging pebbles and dirt and widening the hole. Sky tried to help but she turned and just stared at him until he backed off, tail flicking back and forth silently. No one messed with a pregnant she-cat when she was determined to do something. Instead Sky just watched, occasionally turning his gaze back over the little stream.
It wasnt long before the hole was big enough to squeeze into, and Sky immediately recognized that Shiloh had been looking for a den, a safe place to build a nest for kitting. The thought made him a little skittish. She couldnt possibly be kitting yet! His mate squirmed into the hole, and he followed nervously, opening his mouth to see if he could detect any changes in her scent. When he pushed through, he found a smooth moss covered cave, high enough he could stretch paw-tip to paw-tip and just barely reach the top, with enough floor area for three or so sprawled cats. Besides the entrance they had just dug, he could see a few areas with cracks in the mostly earth outer walls, sheltered from the outside by roots and rhododendron leaves. It was virtually invisible.
“Perfect.” The word was slightly breathless coming from the heavily pregnant she-cat, and Sky caught her subconsciously kneading the ground a little, as if to test it. She noticed his smug look and immediately her ears went sideways and eyes narrowed. “Dont be too pleased with yourself. If we are to sleep here, we should find something to make a nest.” Sky almost protested something about mothers making their own kitting nests when she cut him off. “No, that would be unwise, you might get lost or trip into the stream because you are so distracted by everything.” Sky drooped, but didnt deny  it. He didnt have the best track record of staying focused.
Instead he purred warmly, hesitantly rubbing against her, “Its Sunhigh anyway, lets rest til dusk, and then we can find some prey for our bellies, and you can find some material to use in the nest.” Sky was glad that instead of stiffening and listening to her instincts, Shiloh returned his purr and gave his jaw a lick.
“Sounds like a good compromise.” She murmured.
They settled then, cuddled together, alternating between grooming the other and dozing in the pleasant little cave.

Skystar and Pansycloud’s kits, two she-kits and one male.
Patchkit is quiet, proper, and prim as a she-kit, and immediately latches on to the clan cats when they arrive, quickly becoming the most knowledgable of the new clan of the our clans and their culture. She will either become Patchheart or Patchfur.
Splashkit is loud, adventurous and takes after her dad with his racing mind, inability to focus on one thing for more than a few moments, and never ending energy. She will either  become Splashfoot, or Splashstorm.
Finchkit takes after his mom, being a more chill, practical and patient guy. However he does have a little more charm than his mom, and becomes the darling of much of the clan. He will likely become Finchcloud.
Im sooo excited to write these guys.... I just need to do it XD

Its been a while since I posted, and since its October, I thought I might have some fun  with Inktober!
Day 1: Skystar and Pansycloud
These two are the protagonists for my Skyclan re-write.
Skystar is descended from Cloudstar himself, and was told stories about the clans, especially Skyclan during his kithood. He lives on the other side of a large city/metropolitan area from the original clans, which means he has also heard some rumors of the still existing clans. As I plan to intertwine the story of Skyclan and the four original clans more closely, he will actually end up as a guide for the New Prophecy cats during their journey. But he starts Skyclan before that happens, with the support and help of his mate, Shiloh/Pansycloud. As for his personality Sky  is an odd tom, curious and easily excited. He's quick to latch onto an idea and will obsessively pursue it until he fulfills it or loses interest. He's charming and charismatic, and obviously involved in this clan creating project, which draws more and more members to his little group. Sometimes he seems a bit scatter brained as he tries to think of and talk about multiple things at once, but its mostly endearing.
Pansycloud is the only reason that the clan ever gets off the ground. She grounds Skystar and helps him focus his energies on one thing at a time, and is always taking the practical route and asking the important questions. Pansycloud had a troubled kithood, coming from the bad side of tom where Scourge’s “Blood Clan” held control, and only managed to escape when she an her mother passed on to the other side of the “Great Road” the six-lane highway which is notoriously dangerous to cross. Despite being heavily pregnant at the time of Sky’s decision to start the clan, she supports him, hoping that a group of cats would allow her children more safety. Shes fairly mellow and some might sy boring  for her lack of interests beyond survival, but shes supportive and protective of Sky, and for the new clan, that’s all that’s necessary.

Skyclan Reborn: Chapter 1- So that’s what dreams are made of...
He knew it was a dream because the colors were wrong…. And also he could fly. The sky, which at this point in the summer should have been dulled slightly by the intense sunlight and dry heat, was instead the vibrant cobalt of a winter morning. The grass was green as if it had just sprouted, and flowers from all four Seasons mingled oddly.
But Sky cared less about that. He was more  interested in the fluffy tailed squirrel nibbling on a nut a few tails away. In the bright sun and complete lack of cover, Sky would have been spotted many moments before, but this was a dream, and he was in charge.
With a quick wiggle to build up some momentum, the tom leaped. He landed empty-pawed and face to face with an apparition. Sky had heard the term ghost before, from the cats who hung around the graveyard, but this thing wasn't exactly what they had described. It was translucent, like the heat waves off the pavement during high noon, vaguely cat-like in shape. It's eyes however were clear, bright yellow.
“Greetings Sky.”
The white and grey tom sighed. “Oh come on…. Again?” It was a recurring dream, one he suspected was due to whatever prey he ate or activities he did before going to sleep. He found it annoying but bearable. After it said it's fill it usually just dissipated. But this time, It seemed more urgent.
The thing did not respond to his comment but continued to speak, almost hurriedly.
“You are destined for great things. You, descendant of Cloudstar, must rebuild and remake the fifth clan. Without you the four cannot survive leafbare.”
Sky snorted. “Yeah sure, thats not cryptic at all.”
The comment seemed to agitate it, and for the first time in all the iterations of the dream, it began to move. Every time Sky had seen it, it had been stationary, never moving, he had assumed it could not.  Although it appeared to walk as a normal cat, in reality the  thing never touched the ground, but instead glided a whiskers length above it, and moved through the grasses like a quiet breeze. It was unnerving, and Sky arched and  backed up on instinct. But as soon as he moved, the creature accelerated. Sky turned tail and bolted, eyes wild with fear and ears pressed to his head, but he could feel the heavy presence of the creature just behind him, wailing.
“The clans! You must save the clans! Only you can--”
Sky woke with a startled yelp to a stinging pain on his rump. Although it was late at night the constant twilight of the city streets crept into the little hollow in which he slept. He blinked at his tortoiseshell mate, whose claws were still lightly embedded in his skin. She pulled them out and gave her paw a casual lick.
“What was that for?” he whined. Shiloh was a more than capable she cat, but also brutally practical.
Her ears swiveled sideways in annoyance.
“You kicked me in the gut in your sleep. You could have hurt the kits…. Thankfully you did not.”
The tom started, blue eyes widening with a moment of concern. He had almost hurt his kits? A prickle of embarrassment tugged at him as he watched his mate’s wary face. She probably wondered if it had been deliberate. Many toms had been known to fall to their inner voices, which whispered for them to kill kits. But it rarely happened with a tom’s own kits, at least not intentionally. But seeing her wary stance, Sky's ears wilted slightly and he glanced at her sheepishly. “Sorry. I was dreaming about the thing again, the uhh spirit. It was telling me about the clans.”
The she-cat sighed. Her attention diverted.“Did you eat squirrel again?”
“.....Maybe?”
She rolled her eyes. This was not the first or even the fifth time this same conversation, or well, a similar one, had played out between them.“Sky, you know what those do to you,” she said, exasperated. “I don't understand why you keep eating those things. I'm almost certain the forest squirrels eat weird mushrooms.”
“I know, Shiloh…. I’m sorry.”  He shuffled closer to her and gave her an apologetic lick to her brindled ear.
Her body relaxed and she smiled at him ,murmuring as he began to groom her more thoroughly. “The little ones are fine,  although they are  excited now, moving and twisting around.” Shiloh gave a short gasp. “Oof. We have at least one strong kit, I'll bet they will out eat the both us.”
Sky paused in his grooming to look over her body, which had filled out from both the kits and his efforts of steady hunting. She was so beautiful, and he wondered daily how he had managed to ever catch her eye. “How long?” he asked.
She looked thoughtful for a moment before answering. “About half a moon. We will need to start looking for a nest soon.”
Sky nodded and resumed his task of bringing both his mate's and his own fur to a shiny cleanliness.
“You know,” Shiloh murmured a few moments later, “ The clan thing isn't a bad idea.”
The tom paused halfway through a lick, his tongue still halfway out his mouth. He pulled it back in before he said, “Wait… what?”
“I said,” the she cat enunciated very slowly, “That the clan thing was a good idea. Honestly, even though I don't necessarily believe in spirits or omens or whatever you would call that thing, I do believe that one's innermost desires make themselves clear. You keep having the same dream, over and over, and I think that means you really want it.”
Sky nodded. “I suppose so,” he said, “But that would be a lot of work, especially for a heavily pregnant she-cat.”
Shiloh flicked him him with her tail. “Oh please, if anything you've said and the rumors I've heard are half true, a clan would be safer for me and the kits. No having to constantly worry about disputes over food, or someone finding the nest while I'm out, or a rogue Tom coming through. We would be safe, surrounded by cats we trusted, and we could raise our kits in relative peace. If we can figure out that supposed code that they go by, we can make a name for ourselves as…. As a safe place for cats.”
As his mate spoke, Sky became increasingly excited. She was right of course. The possibilities, the benefits of safety in numbers were obvious. But he knew there were concerns he would have to anticipate and his excitement dampened a bit. “I'm not so sure that other cats would go along with it. It has barely been a cycle since Scourge and his nasty gang fell, and for most cats, he and his group are the only example of a united front and a ‘Blood Clan.’  I dont think demanding prey gifts for protection or stealing young kits is what we want everyone associating with our group.”
“Well, we will just have to go about differently.” Shiloh said. “Besides it's not like everyone believed Scourge and his group were legitimate. There are still stories of the other clans around and plenty of cats who feel vulnerable enough they would be interested. Probably even enough kittypets who would be drawn by the excitement of living like their ancestors.” She said the last sentence with a sarcastic bite. Most cats knew kittypets were naive, some bordering on childish, because all they had ever known was fullness and contentedness. Though there were always exceptions, but many of those disliked being called kittypets for those reasons.
But Sky wasn't paying attention to that, instead he was thinking through everything that needed to be done, how he could do it. “Okay,” he said with with a sly smile and a flash of teeth,” First we need a base of operations, then we need to figure out how we are going to recruit and what we are going to tell other cats. Especially cause of all the weird different rumors about the clans. So like, what the rules are and how to join and what training cats need.”
Shiloh nodded along with a quiet little smile as he listed each thing.
Sky rattled on. “Then we need to figure out who we are going to recruit. What are our standards? We don't want any who are too violent or untrustworthy. Should we recruit a bunch of younger cats? But then we'd have to train them….” He continued until he realized Shiloh was asleep, and then stopped, nuzzling back into position and falling asleep curled around her.

#oracleclans : After a false prophecy and betrayal by a medicine cat which started a war between all clans, starclan has withdrawn their power and protection from medicine cats and have instead promised a single cat to keep the peace by moving between the clans and learning their culture, they would be given the power of foresight, flashes of foreknowledge. But not everyone in the clans agrees with this, they see this oracle as taking away each clans autonomy and individuality, and one day there will be a reckoning.
#Thejourneymatters : A re-telling of the second series, with several twists and changes from canon.
Sub projects for this universe:
#SkyclanReborn: A descendant of Cloudstar and the old Skyclan, named Sky, is brought up to rebuild Skyclan. Under the instruction of an ancient she-cat, his grandmother, granddaughter of cloudstar. He learns the basics of clan knowledge, including a mangled version of the code, two part names, and the importance of Starclan. From this he goes about building Skyclan from the ground up.
#Beforethejourney: Not completely rewriting the first series, but including enough background information and headcanons to build a basis for the second series.

Note
You always take our submissions and asks and stuff, but haven’t really posted about your own worlds; maybe post something about a character or clan you’ve been working on? :)
I lost an entire response I had typed up for this the first time :(
Anyway, I have posted about my personal projects before! In fact there should be a post not too far down that has my list of tags for my own personal projects.
Unfortunately most of them are on hold due my tendency to hyperfixate on a fandom for a few months and then neglect it again until it comes around again. But I can detail what's going on with them and where I'm planning on going on the future!
I do have a Canon rewrite which I focus mostly on the New Prophecy Series and on from there. Unfortunately I got stuck once I reached Thunderclan Allegiances because I was sorting through the absolute disaster that is the family tree. I was trying to figure out genetics and designs and keep as close to Canon as possible, but it was getting exhausting. Hopefully I can just push past that point and move on to writing the actual story. It doesn't help that some of my past ideas have changed and I'm not sure now how to incorporate the new ones.
Another project which goes hand in hand with the Canon one, is my remaking of Skyclan. I decided it was really silly that Skyclan should be in literally the opposite direction of where the journey to the new territories takes place, so I actually tie it in to the journey and they are some of the cats who help the prophecy cats to get to the mountains. I also thought that it would be a very convenient way to ensure that the old territory elders didn't just die of starvation, but lived out their lives helping to build the foundation for a new clan while their clanmates moved on to a new home. This is the project with the most writing so far, partially because it doesn't require nearly as much planning ahead of time. But since it is a story which is told almost at the same time as the new prophecy story I will eventually have to bring in the Canon cats and merge them together for a time.
My last and biggest project is a group of four clans who live in the Appalachian mountains. These clans (which are where my LGBT oc showcase came from) are basically my critique of how Canon handled lots of issues. The premise is that after a medicine cat betrays the clans and starclan by telling a false prophecy it is decided that one cat will be chosen to be connected to starclan, and will keep the peace between the clans by traveling to each one and learning their culture and laws. It was less a story about any one cat and more a story about the culture of the clans themselves and how each different clan had their own beliefs and ways of doing things and how that impacted the relations between the clans. I have been working on it on and off for nearly 5 years, unfortunately I lost the majority of my early writing (nearly 3 chapters, 7000 words), and realized that although I had made Allegiances I hadn't really connected the cats together as a clan and family, so I went to remake the Allegiances and got stuck there.
In truth the reason I don't talk about them much is that I don't want people to lose interest in the blog and it was originally a blog for resources and help with world building. But I am always glad to gush about my projects to anyone who cares :)

Handsome tuxedo boy, who will be joining Skyclan from his previous home as a kittypet.
At first its a bit hard for him to adjust, and the clan doesnt really know what to do with him, because he’s both neutered and declawed. But he’ll find that even though he’s anxious about changing his life, Skyclan will be his loving and caring family.
