"Come to bed", he whispers in the deepening shadows of the room, where there is nothing else illuminated except for the streetlights below.

It's starting to rain as it's been getting later in the evening; the wind, picking up there too. His blackout curtains, lost against a stillness. Heavy and grey like his eyes, and how they tend to stare so lovingly at you now.

So you smile.

"I'll be there in a sec," you tell him.

Turning away but only for a moment. Careful not to trip on his favorite boots that lay lined up beneath the window.

"Mm." He sighs, tired and even a little bit happy.

Your hands are responsible for this. The closing, and the drifting into space, however smallest. The joy that his breathing brings because he can just relax now. Catching a misty view of the city through the glass and a momentary bit of fog. A pillow tossed to the side in the background all so that you can get more comfortable.

With softened laughter you say, "what are you doing, handsome?"

"Making more room."

Padding over to the edge of what's now become your side of the bed, you smile.

"Thank you, I've been so tired."

He understands what you mean. The hidden parts of what you say and what you can't or don't. The struggle sometimes that you feel when you're by yourselves. Seasonal emotions you can't explain that tend to come and go.

"Shh, I know. Believe me, I know."

The only solution being the calm that happens in your togetherness. When your head begins to glide gently across his chest, finding your spot there. The brush of your nose, encircling his shoulder, kissing him, sensing the curve. Sleep coming easy now that you had each other again. His arms, so affectionate as they pull you in closer.

You look up at him for one more kiss before slumber consumes you. Content in the quiet as your fingertips trace around his face and nose.

He brings the palm of his hand to your cheek, a twin flame mirroring your tender ways, cradling your face, brushing by slowly.

And so you surrender to kissing him again, before exhausted you can't help but pull back apart.

"Get some rest, sweetheart."

time seems like it's passing by so slowly today
