Valentine is Fun to Use

In my last post, I talked about practicing with Valentine and Fukua from Skullgirls in order to help out my new Skullgirls buddies out. Today, I mostly just pressed buttons with Valentine and dabbled a bit with Fukua and Parasoul as well. Valentine’s combos are actually fairly difficult to do since it involves correct timing with air jumping along with making sure j.HK connects with both hits when you use it. The last bit where fast falling is required has also been an issue for me to connect. However, it has been really enjoyable figuring out how to do that combo and it just looks really dang cool. Here are the three combos that I have been messing around with her. They range from weaker but easier combos, with the last one being her bread and butter combo.

That way I have multiple combos to show off to the friend that uses Valentine to see what he can manage, as well get a better understanding of her potential combo paths. There are also some pretty nasty resets you can pull off during those combos, with the one I know of so far being a  really easy cross-over with j.LK. It did not even take me that long in order for me to get a grip on her combos, only being about an hour to understand it and at least perform most of it. What’‘s handy is that even if I accidentally drop it near the end when I am still airborne, I can call assist to keep pressure or I can catch my opponent off-guard with a high or a low. Assuming they just don’t pull a reversal on me

I think tomorrow I will practice with Valentine more so I can at least finish her bnb combo more consistently, and then finally go on to practice Fukua’s combos. So far, hers from first glance seems a lot more simple and has the potential to convert into a combo from all kinds of scenarios with little issue. Once I am a bit more proficient with them, I might practice these characters against the people in the Skullbats discord and ask for further advice from them. It’s really neat how I had little interest in using these characters until now and it turns out that I really enjoy using them!
