Man there’s so many things to love about this movie. It’s got a cute love story, the animation is pretty, the music slaps, the characters are fun and memorable, there’s enough angst to make me cry, and it brings some good nostalgia for a lot of people. I love it when I post my Gnomeo and Juliet cosplays on tik tok and have people leave comments saying “omg I remember this movie!” It’s so adorable skjk

But I think what I love most about it is that it’s unique. Yeah it’s a family friendly version of a Shakespeare play, but it’s also kinda it’s own thing. Gnomeo and Juliet’s personalities are pretty different from their counterparts which makes them their own people. Plus how many movies have you seen about talking garden gnomes?

Overall I just love everything about this film💜

wait i did marching band for all of one year (we don’t talk about it) but taking off your shoes and marching sounds fun wow maybe if they let us have fun i wouldn’t have gotten the hell out first opportunity i got 😳

side note that i played the saxophone and i never once played a single note the whole time man i didn’t even know the song i was too busy focusing on not fucking up the march to actually play SKJKS

also the only thing that kept me motivated to even go the practice that year was that i had a crush on this really cute drummer girl celia if you’re reading this hmu

BREE LORE JUST DROPPED!! aww, that sucks that your experience wasn’t great :(( same with my sister, she didn’t find it enjoyable and sometimes the culture felt very isolating. there definitely is an hierarchy which is crazee because it’s literally just band nerds y’know?? but it can be very competitive and initimdating so for me i kinda just...laid low xx omg, for us, marching band was literally required when you made the jump from middle school to high school like you had no choice. if you were a poor marcher, that was simply too bad for you and you just...have to stick it out. rarely do people “leave” (sounds a bit...of an environment) or it’s like if you do, excommunicado! 

AND IT WAS FUN!! the band directors hated when we did it and would always condemn us for doing so pero we simply ignored them. then they just kinda were like, well, they’re gonna continue doing this so it’s no use wasting energy when we can use that energy to practice. 

SAXOPHONE/FLUTE SOLIDARITY TRULY OMGGGG literally flutes, saxophones, and clarinets were always grouped together because we were all woodwinds so we were kinda like...sisters but we sometimes hated each other <3 STOPPPPPP BREEE OMG SAME NO LIKE FOR REAL SAME WITH THE NO PLAYING. this is so fucking awful to admit because i was actually really well known in band and everyone knew me (kinda like in high school, i was technically “popular” because people just knew Of Me does that make sense?) so people assumed i was a good flute player...i was a fucking fraud. i never memorized the music because my brain told me i had a choice: you either memorize the music or i forget how to march or you don’t memorize and you march like a drum corps member....and i chose the latter! i never practiced outside of school, i never really dedicated any time to band...and it’s awful because my band directors held me at such high regard that i ultimately failed them.

i thought nobody knew about my “secret” and i continued to do it the way i was doing. then it happened....there was actually this one time i was called out on it by another flute player. i think her name was margot, officially (she went by a nickname) and she was new to the band (she was originally on the dance team then came to join the band). so, i don’t know HOW she figured out that i don’t play but i was seated next to her because we have seating arrangements when we get prepared to march out onto the field during competitions and football games. we are standing to do our warmup and do a run through of the show while standing at our seats inside the band hall while marching in place. don’t know what prompted her to do this but she turns her head slightly over her shoulder as we are about to do our run through and she says “and actually play this time”......AJSKDASJKDJSLAKDLSA THE STUNNED LOOK ON MY FACE I WAS LIKE NO FUCKING WAY NOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING WAY!!!! and i felt hot all over my face and it was SOOOOO embarrassing to be called out like that. glad margot did it privately but DAMN imagine that...can’t believe that was my life...

ALSO I AM SO SORRY THAT THIS ASK IS SO LONG I JUST HAVE A LOT OF MEMORIRESSDJKALD pero yes drummer girl from bree’s school this is bat signal she is asking if you find her cute!! also, that’s funny because there was this drummer girl in the marching band that i later found out is gay and i was like....wow, it all makes sense.....and it was so funny because boys wanted her and girls wanted her confidence and it just makes sense now...what being a drummer does to a mf
