Turtles, not only the pizza-eating ones, are more part of asian mythology but can be found in greek mythology, too, when for example Chelone was transformed into one. Also the goddess Urania is sometimes depicted having one of her feet placed on a turtle. And of course, the turtle is an attribute of Aphrodite.
