i like to imagine that lunafreya's fall was. not pleasant. sure, the exchange program is almost over so he has to go home... so he finally gives in and kisses belphie in a moment of desperation before he leaves.

and then he's dragged right back to the celestial realm. forced to stand in front of his "father" and beg for forgiveness if he wants any chance of remaining. and luna... refuses. why should he be punished for loving?

and he's cast out. falling to the devildom in a ball of fire, wings singing and turning black, halo splintering and shattering with two shards embedding in his skull that'll grow his horns, feeling nothing but pain until he hits the ground hard. (he could've been cast out more gently, but who is going to be gentle to a sinner, after all?)

luckily he manages to crash right into diavolo's backyard so barbatos and dia can look after him... even if he did fuck up the garden a little - barbatos can't exactly be mad once he sees the extend of luna's injuries. it takes him a month to recover from his fall (the faster healing capabilities of an angel are gone, and the faster healing capabilities of a demon have yet to fully set in) and then he's released to the brothers.

it takes him three months before he finally looks close to his demon appearance - his horns are still growing out, and his wings are still growing new feathers to replace the singed ones, but he has a tail that he likes to poke the brothers with when they aren't looking, now. benefits?

simeon and luke aren't supposed to contact him until the next semester of the transfer program, but simeon tends to talk to luna regularly still.

luna spends most of his post-fall time either in bed, annoying the brothers, or slinking about the house of lamentation. he has no real desire to go outside, so he simply... doesn't. he gets enrolled in online classes like levi until he's willing to go outside.

it takes him almost a year.
