hyper light drifter ost lol. immediate gut answer.

for some recs that are actually Different: ive been kinda falling away from hardcore lately and getting into.... whatever it is they do over on gravitas recordings. 

Id.Entity takes the cake for most...genuinely unpredictable sound i’ve ever heard. you try to get into a rhythm or tune or pattern for it, and it just absolutley refuses to follow through on whatever you think it’s setting up. despite this, it never really feels chaotic or unfocused, and i find it really fascianting for it. Ancient Technology is similarly cool and fucky; less erratic and weird but more cool bassy jank.

Deliverance and Mir are tried and true sources of Stabilizing Vibes; weird though the vibes may be. lots of odd sounds and rhythms and textures, just very fun to listen to.

a couple individual tracks would be: ARANA SLEEPS; drawing from the cool ambient stuff wolfgun’s been exploring lately, and transitoning into god knows WHAT the fuck that is further in. this one’s got me fucked up because it sounds so.... organic, once it gets going. it sounds like the vocalizations of some creature that you couln’t ever hope to understand or percieve, shifting and rolling across dim barren hills in pursuit of its prey.

Wildfire:ok one hardstyle track still. swear to GOD this one posesses me with an energy unlike any other. admittely mostly because the amaranth vibes this one gives off are off the CHARTS. absolutely fucking unstoppable. this song singlehandedly broke me out of art block.

...this is all just stuff that’s been Hittin me recenty. for some more general/ tangible kinds of Feels, there’s:

-anything by gareth coker. i knew him first from the ori & the blind forest ost, but literally everything else he’s done carries the same insane atmospheric and emotional weight. aside from the ori games, i particularly like The Unspoken.

- nightwish is just. whoooooof. the sheer size and scale and grandiose of their stuff is staggering. here’s some faves x x x x x x        >i’ve been getting into power metal recently too and while they’re not as emotional as nightwish, really loving the energy in many of the tracks by Powerwolf, Brothers of Metal, and Korpiklaani

-PRTLS002 will make make you Feel... like you are dying! these tracks will put wasps in your spine and cause you psychic damage. in some senses, literally physically painful to listen to. if you need something to not only shut off your brain, but beat it to a mushy pulp, this will do an ample job.        >hyperlucid gaze on the same label is far less intensely violent, but still does just as well at destroying your brain via suffocation in its atmosphere.

- i had a really weird and really intense cowboy fling last year and it’s all thanks to the Where the Water Tastes Like Wine ost. i have cried to this soundtrack. i didn’t even play the game. souful banjo and guitar folk take me HOME
