Day Thirteen: May 23, 2017 | Drive to Interlaken

 Before the drive started.

We’re going on a roadtrip! But it’s not that far, I mean we just drove more than 300 miles yesterday.

Meaning that it’s just within Switzerland. They have a lot of green fields though.

Okay, we’re going to Interlaken which only took us about two hours or less to get there. 

But along the drive, we passed by this beautiful lake. Interlaken is in between two lakes which makes it really interesting.

If there are lakes and mountains, then of course there are snow caps. I bet it’s pretty cold up there but I wanna go up though!

Switzerland is a beauty! Even if it’s just my second day here, I already love the views it’s been giving me and my family along the drive to Interlaken.

And most of all, mother nature surprised us with this waterfall! I just literally saw it beside the highway as we were going up pass a mountain. So much love for this country, Switzerland! I’m wondering if we’re near Interlaken already.

Baden in Switzerland where the peace with the Kaiser and (the) King of France was negotiated

The “Peace of Baden” in 1714b was the first international treaty negotiated on Swiss territory, making it the first of many. More than 300 years ago, the neutral Switzerland was chosen to host to mediate between the different parties in the War of the Spanish Successor.

The peace was already largely negotiated before in Utrecht (the Netherland) and Rastatt (Germany), but the final touch was given in Baden. While the Swiss did not have a direct connection to either of the groups, the catolic parties within Switzerland were able to secure a deal with the other catholic party of the war in order the ensure being protected if there would be another civil war in Siwtzerland between the protestant and catholic cantons (as there was one 2 years before the Peace of Baden).
