Fic Summary: Following War Games and the events at Resson, Bodhi is overwhlemed by grief, the rebellion, and his new position as Flame Sectionleader and finds himself turning to Liam's squadmate Ridoc for solace as the two scheme an elaborate plan to steal Commandant Panchek's underpants. And somehow, much to his surprise, Bodhi finds himself falling for the larger-than-life rider.

Note: This fic is an Iron Flame retelling from Bodhi & Ridoc’s POV.

Chapter Summary: The quadrant is in chaos, but all Bodhi cares about is making things right with Ridoc.

Excerpt:

Bodhi could picture it now. Ridoc’s brown skin, glistening with sweat. Determination in his eyes as he squared off. Shoulder muscles flexed as he pulled his shirt off over his head. The cocky grin on his face as his head popped out from the bottom. Bodhi paused outside the gym door, looking both ways for any witnesses before adjusting himself in his pants. His stomach flipped in anticipation of seeing Ridoc shirtless.  Eyes closed, Bodhi turned the knob, trying to calm his racing heartbeat, and pushed open the door. His eyes fluttered open—and his stomach sank. The gym was empty save for Imogen and Sloane. The second-years must have finished up early.  Bodhi tried his best to keep the flicker of disappointment off his face as he walked over to the girls.

On The Road Again

I have a new fic to share!! I was originally going to wait till I finished Nights to post this, but it's been fun working on both at once (especially because this one is a LOT sillier).

Summary:

The last place Violet wants to be is on a road trip with former flame, Xaden Riorson. But when Ridoc calls her and begs her for her help with a rescue mission, she has no choice but to ride beside Xaden as they rescuse Bodhi and Ridoc, and maybe rescue themselves, too, along the way.   “The bad part…” Ridoc sighs again. Violet loves him, she does, but the anticipation is about to kill her, because there’s only one remaining way for this situation to worsen. Normally, she’d dismiss this worst case scenario on principle, because her friends love her too much to subject her to this particular form of torture. But Ridoc, sweet, funny Ridoc, happens to be dating the cousin of Violet’s worst case scenario, and that complicates things.   “Ridoc,” Violet says, “Big girl voice.”   “I need you to come pick me up with Xaden Riorson.”

“Damnit Garrick! I wanted a day off today!”

“It’s fandom, Bodhi. None of us ever get a day off. It’s worse for me and Violet and you know it. We can’t all be lucky like Sawyer or Nyra, who only get called in on occasion or for a couple of lines only.”

“Yeah, Bodhi. Just deal with your popularity.”

“Fine, but know that I hate you all. Give it here. What is it today? Another FMC? Am I gender-swapped? Do I get Liam? Ridoc? Both? Please gods tell me I get a day off from Mint and that fucking fever …”

“Don’t even get me started with the whump, cousin. You know I love Mint but for Dunne’s sake, how much do we have to drag on the effects of one little burnout episode? Violence has never had it this bad.”

“That’s because everyone loves to see the big bad shadow daddy in pain.”

“Oh, fuck you, Tavis.”

“Can you two shove it and just give me the fucking envelope?”

“Sorry, Bodhi. Garrick, hand it over.”

“Sorry Bodhi. Here you go. What’s the assignment?”

“…”

“Bodhi?”

“This is the type of assignment I want every day. Simple, cute, sweet. Just one simple message to deliver. @siobhanbooks, leader of my fan club, I wish you the happiest of birthdays.”

So I read the idea for the kindergarten teacher Xaden/school librarian Violet AU I saw on @justallihere ‘s page and was inspired by it (who doesn’t LOVE Xaden Riorson being amazing with kids??) and so I wrote this Modern Au fic somewhat based on that!

Xaden here works with Rhiannon in the nursery school she teaches at and Andarna (Violet’s daughter with ex husband Dain) is in their class! Mutual pining, Xaden being adorable with little kids, slow burn…

(The next in my Bodhi/Ridoc microfic series. The others can be found here, here, and here.)

Something Bodhi always keeps with him is a thin, black leather covered notebook, Ridoc has noticed. It’s not his school notebook, but he carries it everywhere as far as Ridoc can tell. His curiosity about it is eating at him.

So Ridoc decides his mission is to borrow this book. 

He thinks it out carefully during history. Violet dutifully takes notes that he plans on borrowing later. If only he was able to summon things. But he didn’t have a signet yet. Hell, he didn’t have a dragon yet. All in good time. 

As they get up to leave, he purposely bumps into Bodhi, knocking his books to the floor. “Watch where you’re going, Gamlyn,” Bodhi says, exasperated. But when their eyes meet, his are dancing with mirth. He’s not mad, not really. Ridoc’s face heats with the now familiar flush as their hands brush and Rodic hands him back his books, while sliding the black notebook into his history notebook.

“See you round,” Bodhi says, heading in the opposite direction.

They have physics next but the temptation to peek is too much. Ridoc opens Bodhi’s notebook on his lap. It’s all written in a different language, one he doesn’t know. Or maybe it’s a code. He flips through and finds a few drawings. 

Most of the drawings are runes. But one is of a boy. Ridoc blinks, and does a double take. It’s a picture of him.  His heart stutters and he closes the notebook, feeling as though he’s violated Bodhi’s privacy.

The man in question is waiting for him after class. “I believe you have something of mine.” Ridoc stops and turns toward him, unable to look away. He slowly takes the notebook out of his bag and gives it back to Bodhi. “If you want to know something about me, you can always ask,” Bodhi says softly as he walks away.

I wanted to read a fic in the style of Elle Kennedy where Xaden was an American football player, so here we are. The Rider's Quadrant Discord also had a large influence on my motivation to actually write this down and post it. My plan is to post one chapter a month at least. That way if I post more often than that it will be like a treat for everyone. 🤪
