Baz started the day ranked 44 going against number 21. With temps in the mid to high 80's and wind gusting to 20-25 or more at times it wasn't easy out there today. Putts like this is what kept Baz alive all day today. He started well and was up 1 after 3 holes before the bottom fell out. He didn't play poorly but the other guy played really well and before he knew it he was down by four after 9. After a never give up speech (or possibly threat) from me he pushed on the tenth hole which was actually number one at Purgatory. On to number two across the water I saw a splash. That would probably seal his fate. It was 3 feet short and wet. The other guy said I think it bounced out. How could that be? I went to look and somehow it bounced out of 2 feet of water. That had to be a sign? He went on to win the hole. Slowly but surely he worked his way back to even on the last hole. He hit the putt to win the hole and the match and that was just the first 18! On to match number two versus the number 12 man. Baz started off ok and was square for a bit before going down one and then back even. By number nine he worked his way to +1. On number ten the other guy hit it to within about 8 feet but the greens were dry and super fast. Baz was a looong way away and two levels up with no way to slow it down. He didn't make this putt but he put it within a couple inches and cranked up the pressure for the other guy. He ended up three putting and Baz was all of the sudden up two. He went on the birdie the next two and was 3 up. Then another miss and he was four up going into 14. With a chance to win on 14 and 15 he finally chipped out of a bunker on sixteen right up near the pin and made an easy putt to seal the match. It has been 14 hours since we started this morning, my watch says I am at 913% of my exercise goal with 274 minutes, 31,506 steps for 14.63 miles.
