The sites are in Woodlands and Tuas. Jurong Town Corporation (JTC) has launched two industrial sites at Woodlands Industrial Park E2/E5 and Tuas South Link 3 (Plot 16) for sale. According to a press release, these are the third and fourth out of eight confirmed list sites for H2, respectively. The 0.5 ha site at Woodlands Industrial Park E2/E5 is zoned for Business-2 development and has a 20-year tenure with a maximum permissible gross plot ratio of 2.5. Meanwhile, the 0.5 ha site at Tuas South Link 3 (Plot 16) is also zoned for Business-2 development with a 20-year tenure. It has a maximum permissible gross plot ratio of 1.4. Chart of the Day: Private industrial rents shrink by 0.8% in Q2 Occupancy for private warehouse space also fell to 88%. This chart from the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) shows private industrial space rentals fell by 0.8% QoQ from 0.9% decline in the previous quarter. Occupancy rate in the private sector multiple-user factory space segment stood at 86%. This was lower than the 87% registered in the previous quarter. Chart of the Day: Private office rentals dipped 1.1% in Q2 No thanks to bleak demand and rising supply. This chart from the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) shows office space rentals dipped by 1.1%, extending the 3.4% drop in the previous quarter. Average occupancy also slid down from 87% in Q1 to 86% in Q2. MTI said this was due to bleak demand in spite of rising supply. Meanwhile, private retail rentals fell by 1.2% in Q2, extending the 2.9% drop from the previous quarter. Retailers continued to face challenging operating conditions, even as the supply of retail space continued to increase. Sectors that will benefit are maritime, infrastructure, and technology. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) unveiled the draft master plan for Jurong Lake District (JLD), aiming to achieve a Central Business District (CBD) with adaptable spaces for the future economy. According to Cushman & Wakefield director for research Christine Li, URA intends to leverage on JLD’s proximity to the High Speed Rail terminus and Tuas mega-port to create 100,000 new jobs in the maritime, infrastructure and technology sectors. "Given the standard space provision of 90 sq ft/worker, this would translate into a requirement of approximately 9 million sq ft of new office space," she said. She added, "As there is currently only approximately 1.6 msf of office space in Jurong, this would result in a more than 5 times increase of office stock in the area. The Jurong Lake District project - set to be completed after 2040 - was first announced in 2008 as part of URA's efforts to provide more job and recreational options in the heartlands.
