I had someone broach the same topic with me, about my own games, with this same type of energy. And guys as much as I get it, from a reader's point of view. You gotta understand that we as creators can only code so much, and as much as we try to give you freedom of choice. It's still a game, one with a whole frickin' storyline, might I add π
And for alot of us writers, this isn't our main source of income, if any π It's simply a hobby, that many of us would love to turn into a career. But that take time, among other things... So, remember that the next time you wanna throw your two cence in, damn π
So is the choice to be forced to comply always just going to be that; completely ooc if you've been resisting and acting like you've magically come around to the idea of trying? even the slightly negative response is just 'fuck you, you owe me.' You're literally a kidnapping victim that turns randomly hunky dory with the situation you're in in that one scene.
No. The story won't be a story if MC returns home so MC has to at least vocally agree to keep the story going because Azriel and co. were not willing to take them to the city and to their most protected structure (the palace) unless they at least know MC is cooperating.
That's why MC tells themself they're agreeing for the sake of going home. Doesn't mean they want to, doesn't mean they're suddenly okay with it, but they have no choice. After that scene, MC can fight and can make their lives a living hell, but I wrote that scene because having the cast just throw MC into one of the most vital missions in their realm without hearing an "okay ill do it" would be foolish.
MC has to cooperate. That's the very crux of the story π but you have a choice to be angry at it for the entire game, if you prefer. And even for MC's who come around, it's not going to be in the span of a single chapter or even a scene. That scene was just necessary to move forward.
Hope that answers your question!
