The Livun species is a original creation from me, though I do not think anyone would take steal ideas I made I will state not to as well.
The Livun are humanoid nature spirits created by a pair of goddesses, Ticasuk of the death and sea, and Tektang of life and the sun. Eventually, these spirits was behaving with more sapience the longer they existed. To the point they made their own culture and divided that into even more sub-cultures.
Their purpose became lost over time in society. Modern day Livuns usually go down two paths isolate themselves from humans to restore their old purpose of serving as nature oracles for their gods. Or divorce themselves from being a Livun and assimilate into human society. Many current Livun generations include human hybrids (like Alasie) and pure Livun without knowledge of being one in the first place (like Shanice).
They are born with the potential to possess magic of both goddess, to be of both the Moon and Sun. However, their powers form with them as they grow as people and more likely than not a Livun will have stronger abilities in one area; some are more inclined to the Arts of the Sun or the Arts of the Moon. However, this doesn't limit what range they have either.
The Livun as nature spirits are connected the land around them, holding strong bonds for the water, the plants, the animals; everything nature have to offer. However, due assimilation into human society many Livun are “forgotten”. It is unsure how many are among humans.
They have shown to be able to mate with humans and have hybrid children. Usually, these children are still seem capable of magic though it is unsure if their magic is of weaker quality as many current hybrid and the rare full Livun children alike are not raised with the mentality to appreciate their magic nor gets to the chance to connect to nature. It is unsure how many humans are actually half Livun or not.
They were seen as the eyes of the goddesses to observe the surface world. Long ago there was a tradition that two adolescents were sent as offerings to the goddesses. Not as sacrifices, but to offer their devotion to being their eyes” for the surface world. It was a contest to determine whom would be chosen and since the goddesses were lovers, the eyes was meant to marry too. This tradition have died long ago.
