Wiped Out III
Fridolina Rolfö x Teen!Reader
Summary: Your first start of the season
Tumblr media
Today was meant to be a good day.
Today was meant to be a great day.
It's your first start of the season.
Your parents are here to see you.
Your mother. Your father. Frido's parents too.
Today was meant to be perfect.
"You'll do great," Frido says, a soft kiss landing on the top of your head.
You don't answer her, suddenly feeling shy as you go and warm up.
"Which ones are your parents?" Ingrid asks as her eyes rove over the stands," They are coming today, right? I think Frido said."
"Over there." You point an errant hand over to the friends and family section.
Ingrid narrows her eyes as she takes in all the people sitting there. "I don't see them."
"There! By the aisle."
Ingrid's brow furrows. "That's Frido's parents."
She would recognise them anywhere. She's been in their house enough times to recognise them from a distance.
"No, they're mine. Papa always wears the blue shirt to my matches. He doesn't like jerseys."
"No. That's Frido's father."
"I think I can recognise my own father, Ingrid," You say with an eye roll.
"No. I'm sure-"
"Our father's are twins," Frido says in passing, handing you for bottle to drink from.
"They are?"
"Identical," You put in, passing Frido back her bottle," And our mums."
"What?"
"Our mums are identical twins too."
Ingrid looks between you and your cousin, mouth opening and closing for a moment before she sighs. "Your fathers, a pair of identical twins...married another pair of identical twins. And had you two?"
Frido doesn't answer.
But you do.
"Yeah? What's so confusing about that?"
"So you're sisters then."
"No," Frido snaps quickly, voice hard before she looks away," I mean, no. We're cousins."
"But I mean, genetically, you're siblings. If you're from two sets of identical twins..."
"We're not," Frido snaps again, shaking her head like the whole idea was stupid," We're cousins. Nothing more. Nothing less."
"Geez, Frido," You laugh, bumping your shoulder against hers," I'm trying not to be offended here. I'd be a great sister."
Frido's eyes soften like they always do when she looks at you and she fondly tugs on the lock of hair that always escapes your ponytail no matter what either of you do.
Ingrid doesn't push anymore on the topic, especially when it's so clear that Frido's got some strange hang up on it.
The match starts like any other and nothing seems out of the ordinary.
It's as intense as any other match is but just like every other match you've played in, Barcelona are solidly in control.
You frown a little as you and Mapi stand over a free kick, an odd twinge in the back of your leg that you rub. Maybe it's not in your leg actually, maybe it's actually in your chest.
A weird feeling that just won't settle.
You push it away though because this is your first free kick as a Barcelona player despite having been here a season now.
It was a new thing Pere was trying.
He'd been going over old film and came across an old set of videos of when you played for one of the Sweden youth teams. You'd been the dedicated free kick taker ever since you arrived, scoring goal after goal after goal no matter where you were on the pitch.
"Take it," Mapi says from behind her hand, trying to disguise the choice.
The twinge in your hamstring dampens as you push it from your mind, nodding.
Both you and Mapi take steps back.
She runs across you and then you move.
You know something is wrong the moment your foot touches grass.
The ball speeds from your strike, neatly landing in the top corner and passed the keeper's outstretched hand.
The team celebrate but you're on the ground.
Something between a squeak and a yelp make its way out of your mouth as your hamstring flares in pain.
The Johan erupts in noise at your first goal of the season but you can hear nothing over the roar in your ears and the pain in your leg.
Tears sting your eyes as a shadow falls over you.
Your cousin is there like she is every time you're injured like some kind of avenging angel.
But you don't want her right now.
You're in pain. You feel vulnerable. You feel like a little girl needing her boo boo kissed after scraping her skin at the park.
"Mama," You sob," I want Mama."
"It's okay," Frido tries to soothe you, something like confliction in her eyes," Come on. It's okay."
You grasp at her hand, squeezing tightly. "Frido, I want my Mama."
"Shh, shh, it's alright. It's going to be okay."
The medics rush on quickly as well and you try to kick them away with your one good leg.
"Stop...Stop!" You shriek when they touche your injury.
"We need to get her off," One of them says and Frido nods.
"Don't talk about me like I'm not here!" You may be injured, in tears and vulnerable but you'd like to keep some essence of your already shattered dignity.
"Can you stand?" Frido asks, tenderly brushing your cheek with her hand.
"I..." You want to say yes but you know the correct answer. You shake your head.
"We're going to need a stretcher," One of the medics speaks into their radio and within a minute or so, you're being helped into it.
You catch Frido's hand as she walks with you to the touchline.
"You'll tell them to get Mama?"
Frido blinks away some of her own tears. "I'll...I'll tell them to send auntie."
It takes barely an hour for the diagnosis to come back.
A torn hamstring.
A torn hamstring that needs surgery.
Which means months out of football, months of recovery and rehab.
You wonder briefly if you'll get to go to the Euros this summer.
Sweden still haven't qualified yet. You won't be apart of the squad for that campaign but if they do qualify, you wonder if you'll be back and strong enough to join the Euros team.
Mama holds your hand though.
Papa and Uncle and Auntie are still in the stands watching Frido but Mama is with you, holding your hand as you suck on a green whistle to take the edge off.
She presses a soft kiss to the top of your head as her hands gently card through your hair.
You stopped crying a while ago as you nestle into her, head on her chest like you used to do to her and Frido when you were little.
The sounds of studs on flooring alerts you to your cousin coming and you sit up just as the door swings open.
"Hey," She says, panting.
"Hey," You reply.
She squishes onto the other side of your bed. It's a tight fit but Frido makes it work, taking your other hand. "So...What are we looking at?"
"Torn hamstring," Your Mama replies," She's going to need surgery."
"I hate it when you two talk over me."
"How long are we thinking she'll be out?"
"Six months."
"No!" You huff, drawing the attention of your Mama and Frido. "He said six months are the latest. Three months minimum. I'll be ready in three months."
Frido and your Mama exchange twin looks.
"I'll be ready then! I will!"
Mama continues to stroke through your hair and Frido squeezes your head.
"Recovery takes time," You cousin says," You shouldn't rush things."
"I'm not going to rush things. I'm not an idiot, Frido. But I will be ready in three months and I'll be healthy for the rest of the season. And then we'll compete in the Euros. Like we said we would."
Your Mama sighs. "You're both just as stubborn as each other. You get it from Frido you know."
Frido tenses a barely imperceptible amount next to you.
"How did I get it from Frido?" You laugh," Via telepathy?"
"Yeah," Frido laughs too but it doesn't meet her eyes," Something like that."

New Life, Old Problems (Leah Williamson x Reader)
Summary: You're trying to fully settle into your new life in London with your girlfriend. But when you get sick your past stops you from reaching out.
Tumblr media
A/N: Finally managed to put something on paper again! By now I have about 6 stories (some multiple chapters) fully planned out in my head, but I struggle so much with actually writing any of it. Although it's getting a bit better, so I might become more active again.
This is the third part of the New Teammate series (Part 1, Part 2 Arsenal version). Although I think you should be fine to read this without reading the other parts first. Also this was definitely helped along by @holly-wallis, who reached out to tell me she was excited for the next part. So thank you again!
You thought you were doing well. You thought you had settled perfectly into your new life in London. You thought your relationship with Leah was going great. And all this was true, but only to a certain degree. Underneath the surface there were still many gaping wounds and you had a long way to go, which would take even longer because you refused to accept it, pretending like you were already at your destination.
How hard it really was for you to fully trust anyone, even Leah, to be vulnerable around her, became glaringly obvious when you got sick. As much as you wanted comfort, someone to take care of you, you couldn’t allow it. The thought of trusting anyone so much when you were in a vulnerable state left you panicked.
However there was no hiding your sickness. Leah and you had plans that day and if you came up with some random excuse your girlfriend might end up checking on you since it was unlike you to cancel without a good reason. And sadly you couldn’t think of a single good reason why you were unable to meet up with Leah. How were you supposed to do that when you could barely muster up the energy to go to the bathroom when needed?
In the end you decided that the truth was your best course of action. The defender had been exceptionally understanding about your situation and the multitude of struggles you still faced because of your past trauma. Honestly more understanding and patient than you were with yourself.
Despite being reasonably confident for a positive reaction you still were too much of a coward to call your girlfriend, opting to text her instead. ‘This was better for your sore throat anyway’, you reasoned with yourself.
R: Le, I’m sorry I have to cancel today. I got sick.
L: Oh no! Are you okay? No wait, scratch that. How bad are you feeling? Is there anything I can do? Bring you something? Or do you want me to come over to keep you company? I’d be happy to!
You looked at the sweet and caring words, Leah’s concern noticeable even from these few letters on your phone. The urge to text back and ask the Englishwoman to come over was huge. She would take good care of you; make you feel safe and loved. But you couldn’t allow it because what if…
You couldn’t even begin to describe what was hiding behind this what if. Maybe it was actually that, the big unknown, the completely unexpected. Never in your life would you have pictured what had gone done with Jimena and the whole team in Barcelona before it had actually happened. It had left you afraid to fully let your guard down because who knew when something unpredictable would happen again. And right now you were definitely too tired to keep up any guards, so your only option was to keep everyone far away from you.
R: That’s very sweet, but I can’t…I’m sorry.
With a rapidly beating heart you watched your phone, practically hypnotizing it, scared of your girlfriend’s reply. What if this was the final straw?  As much as this possibility scared you, it was still more bearable than the alternative. At least it was an option you had already considered. You wouldn’t be blindsided by it. Plus if there was one thing you had gotten good at in the course of your life it was dealing with pain and people leaving you.
L: I understand, babe. But if you need anything please text or call me. And I’ll be right there! Take care of yourself! Sending you some remote cuddles. Love you!
Your whole body relaxed as you read this response, even some tears of relief rolling down your cheeks.
R: Thanks, darling, I will. And thank you so much for being so understanding!! Love you too!
And with that you put your phone away, buried yourself under the covers and fell asleep relatively quickly. The cold medicine you had taken before texting Leah doing its part in helping you drowse off without too much of uncomfortable shuffling. Your last thought was that hopefully you’d already feel better when you woke up again.
Unfortunately the opposite was the case. You were startled awake by a violent coughing fit that just wouldn’t stop. You thought that you could ride it out, but when it got to the point where you felt like you had to throw up from coughing so much, you forced your tired body out of bed and into the bathroom.
First you collapsed in front of the toilet, bending over the bowl, but once it became clear that you didn’t actually have to throw up, you dragged yourself into the kitchen and filled a glass with water.
As long as you were drinking you were fine, but as soon as you put the glass down the scratchiness in your throat returned with full force, swiftly followed by another cough attack.
You resigned yourself to keep standing there, leaning heavily against the counter, too tired to support your body weight with only your legs, and drink glass after glass, until finally you could put the water down without instantly dissolving into a coughing fit.
At that point you were trembling because of the cold, your teeth chattering and every single bone of your body seemed to be hurting. Still you didn’t immediately crawl back into bed, instead you gathered all of the supplies you might need to ride out this cold. You filled a bottle with water, grabbed some crackers and medicine and then you decided to also get a bowl to be on the safe side should you actually have to throw up at some point.
When you finally returned to bed, your breathing was labored and you all but fell into it. You quickly buried yourself under the blankets. It did little to warm you up though and you debated for a moment to get back up and get more blankets. The idea of moving again seemed entirely impossible however.
This time it took you a lot longer to fall asleep, silent tears streaming down your face because you felt so miserable. You yearned for some comfort, for Leah’s arms around you really, and you knew she would come in a heartbeat if you asked her. Still, you couldn’t. You just couldn’t!
The next time you woke up you felt even worse and it was at this point that you realized that you needed help. Somewhere in the hazy fog of fever and misery you managed to form this one rational thought. However you had little recollection of what happened next.
You remembered staring at Leah’s contact on your phone for a while, although you couldn’t say if you did so for a few seconds or minutes or even hours. In the end you decided against calling her, instead opting to get an Uber. How you managed to get to the hospital was beyond you. You had some vague memories of a very concerned and helpful Uber driver who even walked you into the ER.
Another thing you recalled was sending Leah a message once you sat in the waiting room, slumped against the wall and shivering violently.
R: Fine. At hospital. But fine. Don’t worry!!!!
You even remembered feeling very proud of this text; convinced that it would soothe all of your girlfriend’s concerns. If you would have been coherent enough to read Leah’s answer you would have known that it had the opposite effect. You did feel the constant buzzing of your phone from when the Englishwoman tried calling you over and over again, but it felt kind of nice against you aching body, so you didn’t do anything about it.
---
“She’s not answering her phone and she hasn’t texted me back, Lia! What do I do!?!”
Your girlfriend was crying as she basically screamed these words at her best friend. When she had gotten your text and couldn’t get a hold of you, she had called the Swiss woman for support and because the midfielder was known for being helpful in difficult situations.
“Okay Leah, first take a deep breath…” Lia began with a soothing tone.
“Are you kidding me?! How do you expect me to breath when I don’t know where my girlfriend, my very sick girlfriend might I add, is!” Leah yelled, feeling the need to punch something like some sort of cliché from a movie. Or even better, the blonde would have loved to have a ball at her feet right now, that she could pund with all of her strength into the back of the net. And then maybe get into a slightly too aggressive scuffle with an opponent. Just something to get rid of this nervous energy.
“You know where she is though, she’s in the hospital, so they’ll be taking care of her,” Lia reasoned, continuing quickly before your girlfriend could blow up at her again, “And fine let’s skip the breathing. Here’s what I think we should do; you pack some things your girl might need and I’m going to call the hospitals closest to her. It shouldn’t be too hard to figure out where she is. Then I’ll come pick you up and drive you over because you definitely shouldn’t be driving.”
Despite her earlier refusal Leah let out a deep breath, relief smoothing out the edges of her panic, at least now they had a reasonable plan. This was exactly why she had called her best friend and once the Englishwoman was less preoccupied with her fear for you she would be thanking Lia profusely.
A little later the two footballers arrived at the hospital, Lia once again taking the lead and asking about you. There was a bit of a back and forth where the staff had to figure out if they could even give them any information about you.
It was a big test for your girlfriend’s brittle composure, every second that ticked by brought her one step closer to bursting into tears or unleashing her fury on everyone that got into a five meter radius of her.
Leah managed to keep it together however, not using the healthiest coping mechanisms. The Englishwoman kept pinching herself to let at least some of the overwhelming emotions trickle out of her.
Lia frowned when she noticed, but decided to keep her mouth shut. She didn’t want to risk a full-blown outburst which might then keep them, or at least Leah, from seeing you even longer.
Finally they managed to find the right information and saw that Leah was in fact your emergency contact, something that the blonde had been telling them all along. If only they would have believed her then this wouldn’t have taken so long!
Thankfully things went quickly after that. Leah was led to your room while Lia wasn’t allowed to tag along. The Swiss woman promised that she would stay in the waiting room until your girlfriend had updated her, in case either Leah or you needed something.
Leah entered your room quietly, not wanting to disturb you even though with all the meds you had been given it was unlikely you would wake up anytime soon. Still she didn’t want to take the risk. So the defender tiptoed into your room, coming to a sudden halt once she had a good view of you.
It filled your girlfriend with fear and pain to see you so sick. You were pale, even more so than usual, almost the same color as the bed sheets. There was a tube connected to your arm, most likely to replenish you with everything you needed. You were also hooked up to a monitor, and it was a small relief to Leah that everything on it looked and sounded normal. As far as she could tell at least. Most of her medical knowledge stemmed from watching doctor shows, so that probably wasn’t the most reliable source.
After getting used to this sick, fragile version of you the blonde approached you, standing by your bedside. She looked down at you with teary eyes, gently stroking your cheek before smoothing out your tussled hair.
Your girlfriend craved more contact. She wanted to snuggle up next to you, wrap her arms around you and basically attach every centimeter of her body to yours. But Leah didn’t know how you would feel about that. Not when you weren’t awake to enforce your boundaries, not when you were in a vulnerable state which usually made you push people far away from you.
So with a sigh she pulled up a chair and sat down next to your bed, not even allowing herself to hold your hand. The England captain didn’t want to risk making you uncomfortable even the tinie when you woke up.
It was about 30 minutes later that Leah suddenly remembered that Lia was still waiting for her. She rushed down to the waiting room, not wanting to leave you alone for a second longer than totally necessary.
“She’s okay, I think. Or not too bad at least. So you can go home,” Leah explained, sounding very unsure. Everyone had told her that you would be okay, all the signs pointed to it, but she would only be able to believe it once you woke up and she could see for herself. And maybe not even then.
“That’s good! I guess you want to go back now, but call me if you think of anything you need, yeah?” Lia replied, giving her friend a tight hug.
Leah nodded, before turning around and walking as fast as she could back to your room. She would have run, but had the distinct feeling that that wouldn’t be appreciated by the hospital staff. And the Englishwoman didn’t want to annoy anyone, not when she was aware that they were already breaking the rules for her by letting her stay with you way past visiting hours.
---
When you woke up you noticed with a pang of sadness that there was no warm body next to you. It wasn’t like you and Leah stayed over at each other’s place every day, but definitely more often than not. And lately every time you woke up alone you felt some dismay. Everything was just better when you got to start the day with your girlfriend.
The second thing you became aware of was that despite just waking up you still felt exhausted, drained was the better word really, and also somewhat hazy and achy. It was then that you remembered that you were sick and that you had this weird fever dream where you took an Uber to the hospital. If you would have had the energy for it you would have laughed at the absurdity of this.
However as you opened your eyes you realized with a silent ‘Oh’ that it hadn’t been a fever dream after all, you really were in the hospital. Panic bubbled up in you, but got quickly cut off before it could become overwhelming by your favorite voice speaking up, even if you didn’t like how worried it sounded.
“Babe, are you awake? How are you feeling?”
You turned around, your lips turning into a smile when you laid your eyes on your girlfriend. She had gotten up from the chair she had presumably been sitting in, staring down at you intently. The Englishwoman’s eyes were trailing over your entire body, however not in the way they usually did, this felt more clinical, like she was attempting to spot anything that might be wrong.
“Could be worse,” you replied.
Leah gave you an unimpressed look. “But it also could be better?” She double-checked and you nodded sheepishly.
“Is there anything I can do before I get the doctor?” Your girlfriend asked softly.
For some reason Leah was still standing a good fifty centimeters away from your bed, her arms hidden behind her back as if she had to stop herself from reaching out to you. If only she would! You longed for some comforting touches and maybe a good, reassuring hug from the blonde.
“Get me home?” You joked with a pleading look. You definitely wanted to get out of the hospital but you knew that it wasn’t up to your girlfriend, and she would never do anything to endanger you.
“No can do, sorry babe. Anything else?” Leah prodded, hoping you would ask her for a hug. She could barely contain herself from launching at you, but the fear of crossing your boundaries in such a difficult situation kept her back.
“Maybe a cuddle,” you mumbled so quietly and rapidly that Leah couldn’t decipher what you were saying.
“What was that, babe? Sorry I didn’t quite hear you,” Leah apologized, taking a step closer to you.
You locked your eyes with your girlfriend’s, letting all the love and concern shining in them wash over you and give you the strength to utter your request more loudly. There wasn’t even a reason to feel weird about it, you knew that Leah wouldn’t deny it, would most likely be happy to oblige.
“A cuddle?”
Within milliseconds your girlfriend closed the distance between the two of you, sat down on the edge of your bed and leaned down to gather you carefully in her arms. You both felt and heard the relieved sigh Leah let out when you were tucked into her arms.
It made you wonder why the blonde had kept her distance before, a certain guess at the forefront of your mind. And in the safety of your girlfriend’s arms you managed to ask about it without much over thinking or fuss.
“Why did you sit all the way over there?”
All the way over there was a bit of an exaggeration, but also not really. Any sort of distance between your sick self and your girlfriend felt like way too much.
Leah tried to lean back a bit to look you in the eyes, but you held her firmly in place. You weren’t ready to lose the comfort of her body on yours, even if she put now weight on you, not sure if it would negatively impact you in your current state.
“I didn’t want you to be uncomfortable with me being too close when you woke up. I know allowing closeness when you aren’t feeling too good is still very difficult for you,” Leah explained as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Even though your girlfriend showed you over and over again, day in and day out how amazing she was, the level of understanding and love behind this gesture still knocked you off your feet, or it would have if you were standing. It almost made you believe fully that you would always be safe with her. Almost. There was still a tiny bit of fear and insecurity left. It would probably take a good while longer until you got rid of that last remnant and you were once again very grateful for Leah’s patience.
“Thank you so so much, love,” you whispered, pulling the blonde even closer to you.
“Always,” Leah stated, not an ounce of doubt in her voice. She would always do whatever she could for you, to make you feel comfortable, loved and safe.
Your girlfriend allowed you to cuddle a bit longer until she gently extracted herself to get a doctor. At first you were somewhat annoyed at this, you would have preferred to stay wrapped up together for the rest of the night. However when the doctor announced after a quick exam that you would be allowed to go home later that day, you didn’t mind so much anymore. The thought of going home made up for losing contact with your girlfriend temporarily.
Especially because she instantly stated that she would be staying with you when the doctor pointed out that you could only go home if there was someone around to supervise you. The way her voice sounded slightly offended that this wasn’t abundantly clear to everyone made you smile fondly.
That’s how you found yourself sitting in Leah’s car that Lia had brought to the hospital early in the morning with help from Viv and Beth a few hours later. The short walk to the parking lot had tired you out and you couldn’t wait to get to Leah’s apartment and crawl into her cozy bed.
You were half asleep when your girlfriend asked you, “Home?” Still you managed to nod and echo her words. “Home,” you confirmed.
In your drowsy and still a bit feverish state you hadn’t realized that Leah was actually asking where you wanted to go, your apartment or hers. In your mind it was already decided that you would be going to the Englishwoman’s place. You loved her apartment more than yours at this point, everything about it homey and safe.
So when the blonde announced that you had arrived and you opened your eyes from the half-sleep you had been in a wave of unhappiness hit you as you took in your surroundings. You were parked in front of your own apartment building.
Tears flooded your eyes, which you tried to blink away hastily before Leah could spot them. It was stupid to be upset because of this, it wasn’t like your apartment was bad or anything, you were just really craving the comfort of your girlfriend’s place. Where everything smelt and felt like Leah.
Of course the defender detected your distress instantly. She had been watching you like a hawk ever since she had gotten to the hospital last night.
“What’s wrong, babe? Does something hurt? Should we go back to the hospital?” She asked you in rapid succession, trying unsuccessfully to keep her voice calm and steady.
You shook your head, mumbling that it was nothing. To emphasize this point you reached for your seatbelt, determined to get out of the car and into your apartment without any more of a hassle. Everything was fine. It didn’t matter that you had wanted to go to Leah’s home. Everywhere was better than the hospital anyway.
Leah didn’t give up so easily though. She put her hand on yours lightly, not taking a hold of it however, leaving you the option to pull it back if you wanted to. You didn’t, just this small contact made you feel better instantly.
“Please tell me what’s bothering you,” your girlfriend begged, her eyes looking suspiciously wet.
“It’s stupid,” you waved Leah off.
“Please,” Leah asked again, demolishing the last of your resolve to keep this to yourself.
“I really wanted to go to your place,” you explained, rushing to add, “But it doesn’t matter. Let’s just go inside now.”
Again you tried to make an attempt to leave the car, and again Leah stopped you with a gentle touch.
“We can still go over to my place if you prefer,” she offered, already turning her car back on.
“No, that’s not necessary. I’m just being silly,” you argued, but Leah just reached over to buckle you back in and pulled out of the parking space.
You didn’t have it in you to continue arguing. Plus you were too happy at the prospect of getting to go to your girlfriend’s place after all. So you just leant your head against the car window, letting your eyes flutter shut again.
“I thought you said you wanted to go home,” Leah said before you could fully fall asleep.
“I did, but I meant your place,” you answered tiredly.
“Oh,” your girlfriend exclaimed, her voice heavy with emotion. The idea of you thinking of her apartment as your home meant a lot to Leah. Every once in a while she couldn’t help but worry if she was doing enough to help you move on, to be the best girlfriend possible, to make you feel loved and safe. So this undeniable confirmation that she had been succeeding in all of these aspects meant the world to your girlfriend.
When there was no more reaction from you after this, Leah glanced over, smiling when she saw you sleeping soundly. You looked so young and open and vulnerable when you slept. Leah cherished the fact that you were comfortable being like this around her, that wouldn’t have been possible a few months ago.

Can you maybe write a Steph Catley one? Either one where they both are at Arsenal, and they like each other but are oblivious. And when they win a trophy and are out with the team, everybody in the team tries to make them understand that they actually like each other. And then they understand it, then maybe some foreplay? if you understand:)

summary: combination of that ask and this ask
𖦹 masterlist
“𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣𝗛𝗬!”
i leapt onto the defenders’ back with no warning, catching her off guard as she tried her best to steady both me and herself.
it was the morning training, preparing for the game that night. steph and i were both in the starting lineup, jonas had pulled out his best for this game against london city.
“are you ready for the match, puddin?”
“yea, i’m excited. it’ll be fun.”
we chatted for a bit longer before jonas called all the girls in for a talk about strategies.
i could spot caitlin and katie off to the side, whispering and pointing in our direction. if it was those two plotting together then it could only end in trouble. i nudged at steph’s side, gesturing to the pair.
“what are they doing? looks suspicious.”
“if it’s katie and caitlin then it can only be something troublesome.”
she wasn’t lying, i laughed quietly at steph’s comment. we all dispersed after the talk had finished, everyone breaking off to get started at training.
it was a good session, the team accomplished what we needed to and i felt ready to go up against london city. when we all went back to the changing rooms, katie and caitlin walked up next to me.
“you wanna join us for coffee?”
that was a bit surprising, considering the two would normally be the first to go home and do couple things.
“um, sure? is anyone else coming?”
“nah just us. we wanna catch up.”
katie played it off, and linked arms with me to drag me to their coffee date.
we went to a quaint little cafe away from the training ground. caitlin found a table while katie took me to the counter and ordered an assortment of drinks and some small pastries. we all went to sit back down at the table and i was fixed with an expectant look from caitlin.
“so, you and steph, huh?”
“um, what?”
“y’know, you and steph. you’re always together and glued at the hip.”
“there’s nothing there. she like, 5 years older than me and i swear she has a fiancé.”
katie and caitlin shared a look, one that told me i was missing the whole picture.
“they broke up months and months ago. like almost a year, i think.”
“oh? is she okay? like she’s over him?”
“yea she’s been okay, but i think having you with her makes her feel better.”
that comment made me blush, deep down somewhere i knew there were feelings for my favourite defender. but i refused to acknowledge them in fear of rejection.
katie and caitlin drove me home after our catch up, so i could get ready for the game.
i was still excited with a bit of nerves, but what i couldn’t stop thinking about was caitlin’s comment about how steph felt better with me there.
when it came time for everyone to be at the stadium, i was picked up by steph, she’d made a habit of driving me around since we lived somewhat close to each other.
katie was captaining today, which everyone knew would end in some sort of dramatics, but we were confident we could at least win the game.
it was only when everyone was told to line up in the tunnel did the nerves come back in full force.
i felt a reassuring hand on the small of my back, turning around to see it was steph.
“you got this. score some goals puddin’.”
the nerves settled a bit at steph’s words, but didn’t die completely. we all walked out, lining up alongside the referee.
katie led the line to shake the officials’ hands then continued on to shake hands with the opposition.
i saw ruesha in the lineup and knew immediately that there would be yellow cards, whether that be for arsenal or london city? only time would tell.
arsenal did win that game.
4-0
it was a win for the ages, and a grand celebration.
when the final whistle was blown, the entire team including subs ran onto the field to join together in a huge hug. it was more like a pile of bodies, but the joy of winning the trophy seems to have overpowered everyone’s rational thought.
we all traipsed down to the locker rooms after doing some rounds with the fans. katie still had a hold of the trophy, waving it round like it was a flag.
“we need to go celebrate!”
the thick irish accent of the vice-skipper rang out and was met with cheers.
“katie we have celebrated.”
“no, properly. waving a trophy round isn’t celebrating, yn.”
her cocky grin accompanied her words, making it all the more evident that she was making everyone come out to a bar to ‘celebrate’.
we all ended up going to the closest bar we could find. everyone had gone to their respective homes to change then were promptly dragged back out by, you guessed it, katie.
she was the first to shout the round of drinks, insisting everyone have some liquid confidence. when katie passed me my drink, it was accompanied by a shot glass.
i looked at the irish woman with a questionable look, where she smirked and mouthed ‘bottoms up’.
so i did just that.
i grabbed the shot glass, with still no clue what was in it and downed the whole thing. i could tell it was tequila immediately but made no move for a chaser.
i felt eyes on me from my side and turned to find steph’s gaze fixed on me. she was staring, but with a look of what i thought was admiration in her eyes. when she noticed i’d caught her, her cheeks flushed a pink hue and she smiled down at her glass.
throughout the course of the night, katie (and caitlin) were essentially feeding me drinks, pestering me to come up and dance with them.
eventually i gave in and they excitedly grabbed my hands and ran to the dance floor.
we were just vibing to the music, i wa s mostly observing katie and caitlin do the dancing. that was until, both of the girls just disappeared and i felt a presence behind me. i turned to find steph walking up to me.
“care to dance?”
“sure.”
i grinned up at the defender. we kind of just swayed around to the music until a catchy song came on and all the alcohol katie had gotten me started working.
i was jumping around, begging steph to join in, which she did, and we both just kept dancing around with each other.
when that song ended, steph slowed us down, and we moved around a bit before we stood off to the side.
“yn, can i say something?”
“sure stephy, what’s up?”
i could feel something in my gut, like she was going to tell me something important.
“i really like you.”
i didn’t react right away, i let the information fully enter my brain first before looking steph dead in the eye.
she was a bit taller than me so i was looking slightly upwards, but then i leant up on my tip-toes and pressed my lips to hers.
it was only after i’d actually kissed her that i re-thought my actions, freaked out and decided to pull away. but before i could do that, steph’s fingers would their way up to the nape of my neck and grasped my hair, stopping me from pulling away.
only when we needed a breath did we break apart.
“i take it you like me back then, yea?”
i nodded quickly, then remember to use my words.
“yea. yea i like you a lot.”

Can I ask for a Soul Eater Evans x smr enemies to lovers, lil bit of angst, angry rough smut with sappy stuff at the end?
Body and Soul
Soul Eater Evans x Male Reader
Tumblr media
-enemies to lovers, misunderstandings, arguments, taunting, smut, fluff,
-aged!up Soul/Post Graduation/not all too cohesive to canon
-thank you for the request, I haven’t thought about soul eater in forever. I loveeed it.(far longer than anticipated)(also ended up as not hate fucking sorry!)
“Hey! No way we are teaming up with them!”
A girls voice piped up, you and your meister had barely walked into Deaths office- hands in your pockets while you scanned the room, you saw them.
Maka Albarn and Soul Evans stood infront of you.
The two of them looked at you with disdain, not even unamused but genuinely angry with your entrance.
“What gives?! You know we don’t work with them.”
Soul spat, looking back at the large character that loomed over the group.
“You guys are the only ones available! Actually.. only ones in the city can ya believe that?!”
Death laughed, bobbling around before moving to greet your meister.
“Like we wanna work with you guys! Especially a snotty Albarn like her, just send us. We won’t make mess like these two.”
(Meister Name) sneered, her hand pointing at Maka who was turning red in anger..
“I’ve got the last death scythe! We are way more capable than some mace head!”
You scrunched your nose, bragging about a weapons form was a societal ick but here Maka was bragging about the white haired boy just to piss off your partner.
“Last one because they don’t want any more fuck ups like yourselves!”
Putting a hand on the girls shoulder, you pulled her back as Maka swung her gloved hand at her.
“See?! She won’t be any help in a real dangerous situation- just send us!”
Your meister hissed, looking up at Death who only watched on with amusement.
“Nope! It’s already been decided, I did the paperwork for ya! You got a whole week before dispatch!”
With that, you felt Souls eyes burrowing into you. It’s been a long while since you’d actually come in contact with the infamous duo but seeing them in general would have been too soon.
It’s been a long standing ‘rivalry’ as most would view it but to be honest.. your meisters hated eachother and would put the other into the ground at the first sight of an opening. You disliked Soul not only as an extension but because of how he was when the two of you went through school together- going as far as to when the two of you successfully manifested as weapons.
Something about your resonance just.. didn’t mix so you never really gave him any thought.
It drove him crazy.
Everyone paid attention to him, but you being an outlier pissed him off- it came off as snotty instead of dismissive, and while his hate also came from an extension of his meister, as you did, he shared the petty grievances from the past.
You and Soul mixed as well as water and oil.
Sighing, you started to leave the office and tuned out the two girls arguing- also ignoring Souls attempts to argue with you as-well.
The new founded group walked throughout the city, supplies and packs needing to get gathered. The ache in your head was already settling with all the arguing. You were all too old for this, right? Finding it extremely immature you left the trio to argue back and forth despite both Soul and your own Meister trying to get you to pipe in.
“We are all out of highschool, can you all shut up for just a second!”
Gritting your teeth, hand lurching over and grabbing a fistful of shirt from the closest person.
It was Soul.
Glaring into his eyes, you pushed his chest away and snatched your own partner and walked ahead of the others.
“We are on a serious assignment, we aren’t gonna be friends but I’d like to live and not die because all of you are idiots!”
The snarl in your voice made them quiet down, not without quiet grumbling but that was far better than the loud arguing.
“Why do ya even hate her? Maybe you two could reconcile something because I really don’t want to deal with this for a week…”
Bumping into your meisters side, she sighed and peeked behind her.
“Cant tell ya, my one secret. Why do you hate Soul? You’re the one that wants this to stop so why don’t you make the first move?”
She drawled out, looking you up and down.
“I’m not the one arguin’ though!”
“Whatever, we still have to train with them to go over strategies. This is just day one, we got 6 days to cozy up…”
Grimacing at her words, you didn’t realize Soul and Maka were having almost the same exact conversation.
“-and then! When we were 12 she knocked me over and I lost all my homework over the hallways, she didn’t even help pick it up! I had to rewrite every note!”
Maka passionately relayed every bad memory to her partner, he only nodded along while he thought of what actually happened between the two of you. His stomach ached, thinking about being forced into such close quarters with you.
“Alright, let’s see how you’ve regressed after leaving school.”
(Meister Name) chuckled at Maka, it was time to strategize and for that you needed to be familiar with your partners style. Maka hissed in a breathe before giving Soul a nod- the two melded and out came a scythe. You whistled in false admiration, feeling the resonance from him pick up from your teasing.
Maka worked to take out the dummies, every quick slash and move she made was tactful and fluid- impressive if you really paid attention. Breathlessly, she stopped and slung the scythe over her shoulder- looking to the two of you with a smirk.
“Alright, let’s see you do any better.”
Checking your watch, you stopped the timer.
“5 minutes and 32 seconds. We can beat that.”
Soul came back to his human form, switching places with you on the chair and passing him the stop watch.
You and your meister stretched out, limbering your joints before you took form. A chained mace, covered in large spikes and a barbed base. With your partner slinging you over her shoulder she smiled back at the others before going absolutely ballistic on the dummies.
The energy you felt from her almost made you want to stop her but you also knew she was blowing off steam with every swing and pull back- her wrapping the your chain around a dummy and ripping it in half from the force or squeezing tension to make them snap. Once you felt the final dummy deflate, you let yourself relax and drop gently to your feet behind her.
“3 minutes and 25 seconds…”
The girl beside you howled out cheering, jumping on you in excitement that she beat the other two. Soul bit his lip slightly, Maka turning pale at the long stretch of defeat.
“So much for having a scythe, huh Albarn?”
Before you knew it, the two girls were arguing again. Sighing, you went to sit beside Soul while the other two fought.
“Soul?”
“Y/n.”
Rolling your eyes, you turned to look at him.
“We’re not gonna be friends or even acquaintances after this, but keep your meister in check and I’ll try my best to keep mine. I really don’t wanna fuck this up because you guys are stupid.”
His eyes pointed a glare, sucking in a breathe he shoved a finger into your chest
“Us stupid?! You’re the one letting her walk all over Maka and not doing a damn thing!”
Slapping away his hand, you stood up with your own glare
“Grow up Soul! Take her away so she doesn’t get walked on! I take mine away but you don’t even have half the mind to shut up and not intervene! Just yap, yap, YAP! You’re so childish! Agh!”
You threw up your hands, going to walk away only to be grabbed by the collar and yanked back
“Childish?! You’re the one who can’t address the fuckin’ problem!”
“Oh, and you are?! What exactly does screaming your lungs out accomplish? As far as I know you don’t matter enough for me to have a problem with!”
Shoving him away, a faint flicker of rage gleamed over his eyes before he lunged for you- knocking you to the ground.
“You ass! Why don’t I matter enough to have a problem with?! You think you’re sooo much better than me dont you?!”
“When did I ever say that?! We have never been friends, and we never will! Is that so hard for the almighty Soul Eater Evans to comprehend?”
He opened his mouth to scream down at you but you kicked him off, hopping up to your feet and shoving him back for good measure
“I don’t like you Soul! I don’t have to like you! Just because you think you’re entitled to all praise and shit doesn’t make it true- I hate you!”
Heaving in heavy breathes, you gritted your teeth- looking down at him he almost looked sad or upset. It was only then that you realized the two girls had stopped arguing to watch your outburst.
Shit.. whatever. You’d do something to ease tension for the assignment.. strutting over to the girls you yanked your partner away, not getting one word of fight from her but you knew she was looking at you in concern.. as was Maka who moved to tend to her weapon.
The next few days felt like radio silence between everyone, only moving through the motions to get to the day of the assignment.
Soul didn’t even look your way through most of it, it was incredibly tense and while it was warranted you’d expected at least a sound from him. Hell, even your meisters spoke to eachother in a kinder manner but if this what it had to be like, so be it. There wasn’t any fighting.
There wasn’t anything at all.
“Are you gonna apologize?”
Turning your head, the two girls stood behind you with their arms crossed over their chests.
“For what?”
“To Soul! He hasn’t even been speaking to me!”
Maka growled, the other girl nodding in agreement.
“Why should I apologize? He started it.”
“Yeah but you are the one who made him act like this.”
“I’m not making him act like anything!”
Chewing on your lip, your eyes trailed to the washed out looking boy. He really had no readable expression nor did he even exude any notable energy or aura. He was just there. You sighed deeply, looking back to the girls in front of you
“You know what? Fine. Whatever.”
With that you stuffed your hands into your coat pockets and walked over, ignoring the snickering coming from the girls behind you.
“Soul?”
His red eyes met yours, a blank stare as he waited for you to continue. Pinching the bridge of your nose, you took a deep breathe before continuing.
“I wanted to say sorry. I mean, sorry for what I said the other day.”
“But you meant it, didn’t you?”
“Huh?”
He took a step back, distancing himself from you and glancing behind you.
“You meant it. Don’t apologize if you don’t mean it.. if they made you do it I don’t want it..”
“They didn’t make me do anything.. and why does it matter to you if I meant it or not?”
Soul gulped, unsure of why he actually cared so much. Did he really need everyone to like him? Why did he feel the need for you, specifically, to like him?
“But did you mean it?”
The way his eyes shook with every breathe made you feel heavy, was it guilt? Did you actually feel bad for what you said and what you’ve done leading up to this? You weren’t all too sure if you were honest..
“I don’t hate you.. I don’t think I ever actually hated you but I don’t know if I like you..”
Rubbing your neck, a faint heat on your cheeks stung in embarrassment. It was weird, this whole conversation and situation was weird and it was too heart felt to think about properly.
Soul and you had ended up taking off with each other, just to talk. It seemed your partners were kind of getting along so they pushed you two to go off and spend some time together to really work out whatever.. was going on.
The two of you talked, for hours. You’d gotten lunch, walked around, ended up in your own apartment, had dinner and still you sat next to eachother on the couch talking away. It felt natural.
The ache of guilt in you still lingered but it was much less.
“I’m.. I just wanted to say I’m actually sorry. I mean it, I don’t know what happened or really what drove me to say that.”
Soul smiled softly, nodding. He didn’t hold it against you, he understood and he didn’t say the nicest things to you either.
“After this is all done, we don’t gotta see each other other anymore- exciting right?”
Nervously laughing to yourself, Soul stiffened beside you..
“I guess not liking each other can work. At least we learned to be civil huh?”
Soul only nodded, looking down at the wooden floors.
“You don’t like me?”
“I mean, not really but you don’t like me so it’s even. We agreed we didn’t need to see each other after this so it really doesn’t matter.”
You again laughed, but he really thought you’d made some progress. He even thought the two of you would be friends.. he was confused but he didn’t want to push it.
The assignment was tomorrow.. he needed to get back to Maka.
“Uh, yeah. Sure. I’ll uh, I’ll see you tomorrow then?”
“Oh! About that, (Meister Name) is actually staying with Maka tonight and they said it’d be best if you stayed here since it’s already late.. I have a guest room so no worries you won’t sleep on the couch.”
He wanted to wipe that stupid smile off your face, you just said you didn’t like him and now he had to stay here?! All these mixed signals made his head spin.
“What?”
He laid in the bed, well it was a futon. It’s a guest room so he expected it but sleeping in an unfamiliar space always made it harder to sleep.. along with the thoughts he had of you that ran freely. Counting sheep, imagining he was already asleep, thinking of new dreams didn’t help at all. They all traced back to you.
The fact you still said you didn’t like him hurt, he had to be honest with himself on this one. It hurt, and it sucked.
With a heavy sigh, he decided to get up to drink some water. Quietly walking through the apartment felt like he was sneaking around, like he wasn’t supposed to be here..
“Oh, you’re still awake?”
His spine curled and a flash of horror overcame his body- you only gazed at him in his stiff and frightened state.
You watched him with owl-like eyes, wide and unthinking but observant. He blinked a couple times, letting himself come down from the jump scare.
“Why are you still awake?”
He grumbled, chugging his water and wiping his mouth with his sleeve before going over to sit on the couch beside you. The television playing some random 3am program about some cast iron skillet..
“Uh.. no reason. Just couldn’t sleep. You?”
“Ugh.. same reason..”
An ambient silence fell between you, pairs of tired eyes watching the bright screen
He couldn’t take it. He needed to ask.
“Why don’t you like me yet?”
Looking over at him, you sunk deeper into the couch
“Why do you want me to like you?”
With your arms stretched behind your head, a soft smile filled your lips..
“It would be.. nice? I don’t like feeling like you don’t like me, I know it’s not true.”
You only hummed, not the response he had wanted clearly.
Biting his lip, he made his move.
Maybe it was the tiredness of his mind, maybe it was his emotions boiling over, or perhaps he just wanted to start something that wasn’t so passive..
He got up and placed himself in your lap. You sank even deeper into the plush cushion beneath you, eyes wide looking up at Soul who was already covered in a growing blush.
“I don’t get it! How can you spend all this time with me and not like me yet?!”
You blinked. Once. Twice. With the third strum of silence, his hands balled up your shirt tightly and he leaned down; feeling his breathe on your face but he kept silent, his eyes shaking seemingly trying to find some kind of word to finish his thoughts.
You gave him an almost innocent grin, putting your hands on his wrist to ease his tight grip
“Do ya like me? Is that why you care so much?”
His breathe hitched, the blush seemingly as dark as it could be along his cheeks. Again, with the silence. Was he always this quiet, you always remembered him to be a blabber mouth..
“What? No words anymore? I’d say you like me a bit more-“
Souls lips met yours, cutting off whatever snarky remark you had. As quickly as he caught your lips he pulled away in a panic.
“Shit! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-“
You put a hand over his mouth, feeling heat on your own face and desperately trying to recover. The teasing, the snarky remarks, any snide comments you could make were somehow nowhere to be found in your train of thoughts.
He really kissed you.
Soul Eater Evans kissed you.
Your rival, your enemy, the person you’d fairly recently claimed you hated- to his face nonetheless.
Had just kissed you.
Honestly, you didn’t know what to do with this.. but an ounce of courage bubbled up and without thought, really none at all,
You pulled him back in for a quick peck.
“So I guess you really like me.. huh?”
With a hand covering the lower part of your face, you looked away.. only looking over to see how Soul reacted.
In such a tense moment I guess it would be.. predicated that you’d either kiss or beat the shit out of each other.. the latter being the more likely one but this outcome was far more enjoyable.
“I.. I don’t know..”
Soul seemed dazed, his body slumped down into yours with his recently fisted hands now lax and loose on your shirt.
“You don’t know? You kissed me first, do ya need another one to see?”
Ah yes, the false confidence was bubbling up again but you couldn’t help it. Soul gulped, slowly nodding his head. He leaned down and kissed the hand that covered your mouth.
The heat in your cheeks burned all the way to your ears, moving your hand so quickly that you almost slapped the boy.
He pulled away, furrowed brows as he thought about what he was doing.. thought about why you were letting him do this.
Leaning down again, he caught your lips but stayed there and waited for your next move.
You kissed back, licking along his lower lip while your hands found their place on his hips. The kiss deepened, you could feel every single one of his sharp, pointed teeth- running your tongue across them and exploring while he breathlessly moaned.
Soul pulled away; a faint sheen of saliva on his lips.. he blushed and gave a dopey smile.
“I think.. I think I like it. I think I like you..”
He huffed, moving to kiss you again. He wasn’t the greatest kisser, clearly inexperienced as his teeth clacked against your own when he took control of the kiss- smirking, you pinched his sides softly to make him yelp; taking over to show him how to kiss properly.
Before long, Soul had started to grind himself against you. Whether he intended it or not, the friction made you hard, and it made you panic inside. Was he really this inexperienced that kissing got him this excited.
“Alright Soul.. I think we should stop.. you’re getting a bit.. rowdy..”
Pushing his hips away, he immediately slid them back to meet your pelvis.
“I don’t think you like me that much.. you’re tired, I’m tired.. I don’t think you actually want to go that far..”
Giving him a soft smile, he grimaced.
“What, don’t wanna do it with me? Too good for me?”
“Not what I meant. I just don’t think-“
“I want it. Do you want it?”
Biting your lip.. you knew you shouldn’t. But when he’s moaning into your mouth and grinding against you.. you’re both young adults it’s bound to cause something! Sighing, you leaned back and hung your head on the back of the couch.
“Yeah, I want it.”
“Good.”
“Just take it easy alright, there are condoms.. somewhere..”
Soul jumped off your lap, but went into the guest room before coming out and unrolling a full sleeve of condoms with a wide smirk.
“Woah, you’re oddly prepared.”
He didn’t say anything before he knelt down infront of you- quick to pull down your pyjama pants.
“Soul? Slow down!”
A moan caught itself in your throat, he already held half of you in his mouth. His hands gripped on your thighs, his short fingernails leaving crescent shapes on your skin as he attempted to milk you.
His inexperience caused his sharp teeth to graze your member more than once, making your body jump and spine tingle.
It’s not that you didn’t enjoy it it’s just that… it wasn’t the greatest!
Swiftly you ripped his head off your dick, pulling his hair lightly.
“We gotta work on that..”
Breathing out, you told him to undress and watched him quickly throw his clothes off to the side- moving to sit in your lap and tease you while he offered a packet to you.
Ripping the condom open, you slid it over your dick.
“Just put it in already!”
How impatient.. you were going to prep him but with the way his dick was already leaking of precum made you snarl; he was gonna learn that taking it slow and easy is the best way.
“Whatever you say, just don’t scream too loud now, the neighbours are asleep.”
He went to protest, the slap of your dick against his entrance made him quiver and shut up.
“Take a deep breathe for me..”
Inhaling through his nose, you pushed your head into his ass; his face becoming shoved into the crook of your neck as he bit down, breaking the skin.
He was tight, painfully tight. Sliding in centimetre by centimetre, it took everything in him not to sob out or kick and scream.
Fully inside, his haggard breathe rocked on your skin while he attempted to adjust.
“Relax. God.. you’re so tight- don’t clench!”
He whined in pain, moving sent a shocking sting up his back but he didn’t dare let you pull out.
“I’ll be fine! Just gimme a second!”
So he sat there, on your dick and waited to adjust.
He writhed in discomfort, breathing heavily into your neck and squeezing his hands onto your arms.
It took a few minutes, the sigh of relief rumbled in his chest and out through his nose. Lightly, and slowly, he lifted himself up and down on your dick.
“Fuck..”
He cursed under his breathe, trying to pick up the pace but his ass tightly clenched on you.
“Need help?”
“No! I got it! Just let me..”
Lifting himself almost all the way off your dick, he left just the head in; he quickly slammed himself down and his eyes rolled back, body trembling and legs shaking before he fell onto you.
“Yeah.. I want help..”
What a brat. Smirking, you nipped at his neck and grabbed onto the soft skin that laid on his hips; slowly setting a pace. His ass bounced on your dick, the penetration making him drool. This felt way better than he expected, felt way better than him trying to ride you on his own.
Soul panted, tongue lazily hanging out his mouth as his huffing moans slipped past.
One thrust hit him a little too deep, hitting his prostate dead on at full force making him yelp and claw at your skin.
“Sorry!”
He couldn’t help the chuckled moan that came out, almost surprising himself with the sound and quickly covered his mouth.
The steady pace had him coming undone quicker than he expected- a guttural moan before he shot his load between your stomachs.
“Woah, good job Soul.”
His face flushed, pushing away to grimace at you. When you started again, his body burned in a new feeling- overstimulation. With a quick yelp he moved to sit up on his knees, making you pull out.
“It’s.. too much.”
You cringed in the realization, at least he said something! Nodding, you pushed him off to the side of you but he moved to his knees again- sitting infront of you.
“I wanna finish you off.”
“You don’t have to! It’s fine.”
“I know that, dipshit. I want to.”
He scrunched his nose at you, annoyed at how nice you were about it before sliding the condom off.
You bit your finger watching him lick up your shaft before taking you inside his mouth. It was warm, and wet, his soft tongue prodding at the underside of your dick before teasing the head. Seemed he was a quick learner.
Soul could taste himself on you, making him more eager to taste your load.
Your moans were soft, just barely audible to him over the television in the background. His hand made work to jerk what he couldn’t reach or fit in his mouth. Coughing when it hit the back of his throat, he looked up at you with teary eyes as he tried to stuff as much as he could into his mouth- watching it hit his cheeks and poke out, his cheeks sucking in hollow to place it back in his throat.
He let out a loud gag with the sudden buck of your hips- forcing it down past his tonsils.
With a final swallow, you came in his mouth. Way too much for him to handle as he coughed and choked on the load, spitting most of it out.
“So you’re a quitter huh?”
“Shut up! I’ve never done this before!”
“Huh?”
“…you’re my first.”
He glared at you, not happy with the shock in your eyes.
“No way.. you gave it to your enemy?! I don’t believe you.”
“Enemy?! You just had your dick inside me and I’m still an enemy?!”
His hands made their way to your collar bone to teasingly choke you.
“Point taken… so.. friends?”
He deadpanned you, his lip dropping to an annoyed frown.
“Friends my ass! You gotta take me out on a date now!”
“So… what?”
“We are not friends! I don’t fuck just friends!”
Wow, a confession? That was quick.
“We’ll see about that. Don’t think you wanna spend your life with me that quickly.”
“Don’t tell me what I want!”
“Yeah yeah, okay. I don’t wanna fight with you over this.”
“Damn right you don’t.”
He got off of you and walked to the bathroom, you could hear him gargling mouth wash.. smiling to yourself you couldn’t help your heart swelling at the sound of domesticity.. maybe this would be fun.
Soul was stubborn and hard headed, everyone knew that. He does always get what he wants, it seemed.

'biceps or thighs?!' atsumu miya x f!reader
°°°°°
"Truth or dare! First one to chicken out will buy each of us a icecream!"
You cringe hearing what your friend suggested. You and your friends are currently sitting down inside the gym, with your bags toss on the side.
"Let's use Saya-chan's waterbottle to spin and see who it lands!"
"Can I back out?" You raise your hand and all of them glared at you, making you groan "Nah-uh! Or if you want, then you'll have to buy us icecream!" Haruka, the one who propose the game, grin at you and all you could do is click your tongue and settle on the side of Rita.
There are only four of you and your silently, screaming, inside your head for the waterbottle not to land on you. It landed first to Haruka and you breath out a sigh of relief
"Ha! Truth or dare!" Rita exclaim and you snickered seeing the betrayed look of Haruka
"The fuck... fine! Dare!"
Hearing this, Saya leans in towards Rita and whispered something and two girls began to laugh
"I dare you to clean the whole gym after this game!"
If there's one thing that Haruka is good at, it's skipping her turn on cleaning duty.
"You two- you gang up on me! Not fair!" Haruka cross her arms and Rita just shook her head in disapproval
"Remember Haru~ you're gonna buy us icecream if you don't do it•~"
You think that by now maybe Haruka regretted making that kind of penalty
"Ugh whatever! I'm gonna spin it!" Haruka exclaim and twist the bottle and when she let go, it's spinning very fast and you're staring at it intently.
"Please let it not be me!" You said out loud and when it halted, it stopped at Rita and you can't help but scream in joy
"Hahahahaha!!! Rita! Truth or dare!"
"Hng- truth!"
Haruka's lips curve into a smirk, she moves closer to Rita and slump her arms on her shoulders and wiggled her eyebrows
"Who do you like in our men's voleyball team?"
You and Saya couldn't help but tease Rita at the same time, it is about time she should be honest to herself. She mumbled something but all of you didn't hear it so Haruka tease her even more
"I said it's Suna Rintaro!"
The three of you were slightly taken back as she scream the man of her dreams, it took you all 10 seconds to recover before you are all lightly poking her sides and teasing her.
"Suna, huh?"
"I mean, I've seen him look at your way whenever we watch any of their matches."
"Ahh get off!! I'm spinning!!"
Rita reach for the bottle and spins it, just right after you sat back down the bottle came into halt and it's lid is facing your way. You gulp hard and your friends are hot on your trail
"Truth or dare!"
They all said or scream in unison but you can clearly hear how they emphasize the word 'truth'
"Cal- What are you guys doing here? Shouldn't you be in class?"
Since your back is facing the entrance of the gym you couldn't see who came in but you can already make up who just said that and who's with them
"Kita-senpai! We have no class and our P.E subject just ended. We figured out that to just stay here!"
Saya beam and you giggled seeing Haruka's cheeks slowly turning pink. Well, she got a huge crush on the captain of your school's voleyball team.
"I see, but why are you all huddled up on the corner?"
"Oh we're just playing truth or dare."
"Really?! We wanna join!"
You heard the squeaky sounds made by their shoes as they ran up to where you are, Saya who saw how frozen the two of her friends. She laugh to herself.
"Actually, it's her turn!" Saya pointed at you, Rita and Haruka is quick to regain their composure
"Yeah! Truth or dare!"
"Truth!"
You heard your friends scream and the three of them huddled together and kept on whispering. You can also feel the presence of the one man who can make your heart wanna break-free from your chest.
"Alright!! Answer us with nothing but the truth!"
You nod and gulp nervously, you see how they all glance at each other before nodding and snickering to themselves, you have a bad feeling.
"Atsumu-san's thighs or biceps?!"
Your jaw drop and you can feel the heat coming up to your cheeks, you quickly got up to your feet and was about to tackle them but they were faster and avoided your wrath
"I'll kill you three!!"
Despite with your threats, the three of them just laugh
"Answer us!"
Now, it's not only them but the other members of the voleyball team joins in too. Great, your afternoon is nothing but a embarassing memory.
Amidst of your distress, you felt a pair of arms snake it's way to your waist and hugging you from the back, you can hear the whistling and 'ooooh' of your friends
"Why don't you answer it, babe? I'm also curious."
Right, sometimes it slides off your mind that you are dating one of the popular members of your team.
"If you don't answer, you'll have to buy all of us a icecream!"
"Why do I have to buy for the team too?! Kita-san!"
You look at their captain but his just smiling and waiting for your answer
"I'll start tickling you if you don't answer"
Atsumu threaten and his hands are already holding your hips firmly
"Thighs!!! I like your thighs!!"
•••••••••
"My thighs are free of use to you~ so come and lay down!"
He pat it and your face got red immediately and throw the pillow you were holding at him
"It's been 6 years! I'm over of your thighs now!"
You defended yourself, ever since that embarassing confession you did during your highschool days, there was not a single day that Atsumu didn't tease you for it. He didn't let it go even after you guys decided to move in togetherafter college.
"I thought you're over it?"
"Shut up."
Atsumu laughs which you shut him up by using your right hand to cover his mouth. You can't say no if he invites you like that to lay your head on his thighs.
You felt him grab your hand so you open your eyes and saw he kiss the ring, the one he used when he propose to you.
"I love you" he said and you smile warmly at him
"I love you too.... and your thighs."
°°°°°°°
bonus part☆
You ask him once if he could wrap his thighs around your head and he looked at you with weird expression but eventually you got him to do it.

Deck the Halls (and not your partner) - part 8
from here on out this series is just going to be Lockwood and reader bonding and being annoyingly good together while coming up with steadily more ridiculous ways to piss off the bitchy cousin bc she's trying to get revenge
with that said lockwood does have a brief sad moment :(
Word count: 7.1k
Warnings: swearing, references to sex (both mild and slightly less mild), sleepy lockwood, he can't talk properly when sleepy, the whole morning thing is just what I want to happen in my own life tbh, Steph (the Bitch), lockwood remembers his childhood (might make you sad), brief mentions of murder?? hypothetical murder though (that will make sense I promise), a really intense snowball fight, (can you tell I'm an archaeology student from the way I describe building forts and mud huts?), lockwood gives all the teams in the snowball fight names and they are very basic but I love them
Tumblr media
That night when Y/n and Anthony went to bed, they stood staring awkwardly at the bed for five minutes.
"Well that armchair can't be comfortable," Y/n said, glancing sceptically at it. She wasn't sure where Anthony had slept the night before after their argument, or even if he'd slept at all, but she didn't feel right about taking the whole bed for herself anymore now that their situation had changed.
She would do it if he insisted, of course, but there would be a very tiny part of her brain telling her to be the better person. It was unlikely that she'd listen to it.
"I got used to it, and I've slept in worse places. You take the bed again. The bath surely couldn't have been nice to sleep in."
"It was actually a lot more comfortable than you'd think." They kept on looking at the bed, both in their pyjamas (Y/n had stolen one of Anthony's t-shirts already, and when she'd first walked out of the bathroom in it he'd kissed her for a good few minutes in a way that left them both breathless). "Maybe... maybe we could share? I don't know if that's too soon or anything but honestly if we've been supposedly dating since April then I think we're way past that."
"If you're happy with it then I am, darling."
"Alright. I'm having this side though." A couple of minutes later the two of them were under the covers and settled in, and Y/n reached over to turn off her bedside lamp. The room was immediately shrouded in darkness, and suddenly it felt a lot colder than before, despite the fact she was buried under the duvet. "Ant?"
"Yeah?"
"... Can I move a bit closer to you? I'm cold." She didn't get a verbal response, instead receiving the sounds of the sheets crumpling and a body shifting, and a few seconds later Anthony's warmth was surrounding her as he took her into his arms and laid her on top of him. She tangled their legs together and wrapped an arm around his torso, and he brought both of his arms around her to secure her in place.
"Is that better?" he asked, and from where her head was resting on his chest she nodded.
"Much better. Thank you."
Her breathing evened out not long after, and she fell asleep to the slightly faster than usual beating of Anthony's heart.
~~~
When morning came (or rather when the sun finally rose over the horizon, since it was just after 8 AM), Y/n woke up and tried to turn over to stretch, but found that her movements were restricted by a weight on her side.
An investigation of what was happening lead to the discovery that Anthony was now lying on top of her instead of the other way around like they had been when they went to sleep, and that was why she couldn't turn over. She went to shift him off of her, but as she went to move him she caught a glimpse of his face and realised that he looked so peaceful asleep she might just let him stay that way. He barely got enough sleep as it was, so why cut it short when he was finally getting some rest? God knew he needed it with how hard he worked to keep the company going, although that had been much easier in the past year as they had gained more popularity among the people of England (their name had been spread far and wide by happy clients).
He wasn't entirely on top of her, more lying on his stomach next to her while he rested his head on her shoulder and spread his arm out over her middle, but the weight was enough that movement was restricted. A light knock sounded from the door, making Y/n look away from her new boyfriend's face to see who it was. For some reason fear gripped her as the handle turned, but when the door opened a few seconds later to reveal her father she let out a sigh of relief. She had been worried that Stephanie was starting her research into how she was going to get her revenge already, but Y/n's cousin was almost certainly still asleep at this hour.
"Just got some tea," he whispered after Y/n put her finger to her lips, pointing down at the still-sleeping Anthony. "Where should I put it? Just here? Alright, there you go. I think we're all just going to lie in bed for as long as we think we can get away with, so don't worry about coming downstairs yet if you don't want to."
"Thanks, Dad." He crept back out the room, wincing slightly when the door hinges protested as he pulled it shut, and then he was padding down the hallway back to his own room. Soft sounds from just below her head made Y/n look down at Anthony, who had apparently been woken by the door closing. He rubbed at his eyes, blinking furiously as he attempted to properly shake himself awake, and pushed himself up a little to sleepily smile down at her.
"Morning, darling," he murmured, dropping his head to press a small kiss to her lips. "D'ya sleep alright?"
"Mmhm. Did you?" Anthony only nodded in response, eyes drifting shut every few seconds as he tried to stay conscious long enough to hold a conversation with her.
"You can go back to sleep if you want, although Dad just brought tea in if you want it."
"Ooh, that would be brilliant. D'ya want me to pour it?" Y/n stifled a giggle at his slightly slurred speech, and starting to move into a sitting position.
"Don't worry, Ant. I've got it." She poured out the water, making sure to add the honey and sugar to his at the right times, then carefully handed over the mug. "Have you got a proper hold on it? Because if you spill tea in bed then I might have to kill you."
"I can't spill tea? But how else are you meant to know that George and Flo have definitely fuc-" he was cut off when Y/n hurriedly reached out to steady his mug, the liquid inside nearly sloshing over the edge as he had been leaning in in a conspiratorial manner, forgetting he was holding a large cup of steaming hot liquid in one hand.
"Anthony! Watch what you're doing!"
"Sorry," he said, faint blush coming on to his cheeks as she scolded him. "Was jus' trying to make a joke. Although what I said about Flo and George wasn't a joke." He made a point to look her in the eyes with as much seriousness he could muster, as though it were of the utmost importance that she knew all about her colleague's sex life.
"Alright, thank you for that," she responded, making sure her tone was gentle, and when he smiled dopily she felt her heart skip a beat or two.
How the hell is he so pretty?
"You're pretty too, darling." His smile had turned smug, and she realised with a start that she'd said her previous thought out loud. Her face started heating up, and Anthony did a good job of hiding his laughter were it not for the amusement dancing in his eyes as he sipped his tea.
"Shut up," she mumbled, wanting to jab him in the side but not trusting his capabilities of holding his tea steady this early in the morning.
~~~
"Good morning, lovebirds!" Will chirped when Y/n and Anthony walked into the kitchen, and he sent a smirk their way from where he stood at the hob frying eggs. "Sleep alright?" He seemed to be asking something else though from the way his eyebrows were moving.
"Is... he okay?" he whispered instead, leaning down slightly to reach Y/n's ear.
"I talked to him in the library yesterday. After... you know."
"Ah. Right." After they had argued and then made up and then made out. "Does that mean he's up to date then?"
"Yep."
So Will knew about all of that. This could be interesting.
"They must have slept fine," Ben started, pulling out the toast that had popped and putting in more slices. "Y/n looked like she'd only just woken up when I went in with tea, and Anthony was fast asleep."
Anthony felt a blush rise up his neck and cover his face at the realisation that Ben had seen him draped over his eldest daughter, but the fond smile that appeared on Y/n's face made it worthwhile. She was wearing one of his jumpers again (she had really leaned into the habits of being his girlfriend already, which meant that many of his t-shirts and jumpers were suspiciously not in the drawers he had originally put them in), and was cosying up to his side as he leaned back against the kitchen island.
Y/n looked like she was about to say something, but at the exact moment she opened her mouth another voice was already filling the room.
"Morning everybody! How are we all today? Isn't the snow just gorgeous?"
Emma grimaced slightly before she turned around, sharing a glance with Anthony before greeting her niece. "It is, Stephanie. I take it you slept alright?"
"Oh yes, thank you!" She was weirdly chipper for somebody who had been acting like a raving lunatic the night before, and Anthony couldn't help but feel unease creep up his spine at her wide grin.
What was she up to?
"Hello, you two! Are you looking forward to going out in the snow later? I shall have to drag you out, Y/n/n, since you hate going outside!" Anthony frowned. Y/n wasn't the biggest fan of the outdoors, but whenever they gained even the slightest amount of snow she was out of the house in a flash, laughing and spinning around the street while it fell. Anthony had always accompanied her, giving the excuse that he wanted to be nearby if she tripped and fell so he could laugh (to which Lucy, George, and Holly had looked at him dubiously).
But really it was because it had been so long since he had seen anyone so carefree.
He had loved the snow as a little kid, running around trying to catch the snowflakes on his tongue, building snowmen, making snow angels, having snowball fights with his family.
Then he had been on his own, and suddenly the snow was no longer a source of warmth for him. He had looked at the roads paved in white and felt as cold as the outside air, good memories being brought up and tainted the longer he stared at it.
He could see where he had set up a fort in defence against his father and sister's attack, crouching behind the wall with his mother while they laughed so hard their sides hurt.
He could see where the four of them had laid down in the thick snow, spreading out their arms and legs and sweeping them back and forth, back and forth. Jess had deliberately laid down close to him so they could hit each other playfully.
He could see where he and Jess had made their snowman (although they called it a snow ghost), carefully picking through the undergrowth to find the perfect stones that were just right for the features.
He could see all of that when he saw snow, and eventually he had stopped looking.
But then Y/n had come along, bright and burning, and when she had experienced her first snowfall at 35 Portland Row she had shrieked with joy. Within moments she had shrugged on her thick coat and boots, hat haphazardly shoved on her head and gloves neglected as she shot out the front door, and the other members of the agency were left behind to wonder what on earth was happening.
The other three were quick to follow, leaving Lockwood inside to watch from behind the glass barrier, and for the first time in years he looked outside and saw the snow.
He also saw Y/n fall on her ass incredibly dramatically, and immediately good memories were being created again.
It took him another year to actually go outside in the snow again, and by this point he was deeply entrenched in the hating game that he had with Y/n that he used his excuse of wanting to see her fall over.
He didn't admit to himself for a while that the real reason he was in the cold with her was to make sure that she didn't fall over too hard, or get knocked over by a car that hadn't realised anyone would be on the road (really, why couldn't she have gone in the back garden?), or even because being outside when she was this happy was making him forget that he couldn't feel various parts of his body due to the biting air.
So hearing Steph say that she was going to have to drag Y/n, the girl who loved snow, outside into the snow, didn't make sense to Anthony. He glanced at Y/n where she was stood at his side and realised that she had told her family she didn't enjoy the snow, because there was nothing on her face that said she was confused like he was.
He really hoped they could leave this place soon, because while Y/n's parents and siblings were wonderful, her aunt (who had been sat in the corner sneering at the couple) and her cousin were not. The constant remarks about Y/n's body, how she acted, how she ate, her job, her life, what she enjoyed doing and what she didn't, it can't have been healthy for her to grow up with those comments, and apparently Y/n had been lying to them about herself to get some of it to stop. Anthony suddenly felt even more awful for the things that he had said over the years, and he dropped his head to meet the top of Y/n's to press a kiss there. She looked up in surprise, a question on her face, and he only shook his head and laced their hands together.
He wasn't going to hurt her again, not now that he had a chance with her. And if anyone else hurt her? Well, he would just have to ask which one of them was picking up the shovel, and who was taking the body bag.
~~~
After breakfast everybody wrapped up as warmly as they could and headed out into the snow. It really was insane how much snow they had had, given it was England and they were unused to the sort of snow they saw described in other parts of the world. Anthony had grabbed Y/n's hand after Stephanie tried to get there first, and when she had tried again to be the one accompanying Y/n outside he pulled her out the front door where John and Sam had started clearing a path.
"Ant, slow down! You're gonna pull my arm out of its socket!"
"You'll be fine. I'll give you CPR."
"Ant, you can't give me CPR to fix my arm not being attached to my body anymore."
"Oh. Well I might as well do it anyway, just in case it does help." He was tugged backwards when Y/n came to a stop behind him, and turning around he realised they had travelled quite far from the house.
"Anthony."
"Yes, my darling?"
"Do you just want to give me CPR because it gives you an excuse to kiss me?" He tried not to blush too hard at how quickly she had figured out his ulterior motive, but recovered just as fast with a smug smile.
"I don't need an excuse, darling. I just need to know you consent." She pushed forward, hand still linked with his, and planted a kiss on his mouth.
"Unless I physically assault you, Anthony, then consider me always consenting to you kissing me."
"Perfect."
He kissed her again, trying not to smile too much since it stopped them from kissing more, and wrapped both arms around her waist. She was smiling too, her cold nose pressing into his, and she let out a joyful shriek when he suddenly bent slightly and picked her up off the ground, twirling her while not ever taking his lips off of hers. When he finally put her down again he sighed in content, resting his forehead against hers and just revelling in the knowledge that they had worked through it all, and he was happy.
Then a snowball hit them square in the face, and he was spluttering while Y/n looked for the source.
"That's enough kissing, love birds! You can do that later!"
"Will." Y/n's eyes narrowed and the smile on her face was downright wolfish, and Anthony desperately hoped that she considered him a team mate or he was going to get pulverised.
"Darling, can I just ask, is it the two of us against your brother?"
"It's the two of us against them all, Ant." He knew she meant all of her family, but he couldn't help but think that she meant that it was the two of them together against the world, too. "Oh! You've never had a snowball fight with us before, have you? Basically instead of a kill-or-be-killed scenario, we combine it with capture the flag. Nana Jean has a collection of items that she gives each team, and you have two hours to build a fort and any defences you want. Then when Nana Jean says go, you've gotta get all the items in your fort, and then get all the way to Nana Jean on the front porch. It's very important that you get all the items in the fort first, because otherwise you get accused of cheating and get disqualified. Ultimately, though, nobody can trust anybody, but everyone always tries to get Steph and Linda because nobody likes them."
"So... if we can't trust anyone...?" He left the rest of his question in the air, but luckily she knew what he meant.
"Don't worry, I'll pair with you. Normally I'm with Olivia, 'cause we're meant to be in pairs, but my brothers never care about that rule. Mum'll throw at anyone, and so will Dad, my grandparents are on the porch watching from their chairs, so they'll get some good photos I imagine, Olivia is far too busy trying to look good all the time, and we need to duck!" She grabbed the front of his coat and yanked him towards the ground just as a large chunk of snow sailed through the air where their heads had just been. "Right. We need to start making some sort of defence, which shouldn't be too difficult because of how much snow there is, and then we need to start making weapons, because Nana Jean has obviously just started the timer for two hours building. Sabotage is also allowed during this time." It was both terrifying and weirdly attractive how quickly she was getting into the spirit of an all-out snow war, and within seconds Anthony found himself being put to work building walls.
He had done a similar thing with his family.
London never really had that much snow on the ground at any one time because of all the people and cars that needed to move around, and since agents still had to go out at night the roads and pathways were mostly clear to prevent any unnecessary deaths or accidents. One year, though, there had been too much snow for people to shift enough of it in one day ready for the night, and weather officials had said that temperatures would be rising anyway and the snow would melt in a couple of days. Anthony's parents had woken him early (back when he slept without an issue) and pointed out his window at the snow, and he had been so excited he had gone and jumped on Jess' bed, not caring when she swatted at him with a pillow. The four of them had then spent the day building forts in the back garden and getting their defences ready, and he and his mother had tried planning their walls strategically for the best possible advantage.
"You can't just put it all on top like that, you need to build it a bit like an igloo, or a mud hut. And make sure you've got the proper dense snow, not this superficial flaky stuff. Add some sticks and rocks and things for a bit of integrity, and pack the snow around it. That's it!"
His parents had taken fort building seriously, no matter what the material they were using was. Pillow forts were always complex too, but when finished Anthony had a castle to be king of.
"What are you doing?" Y/n asked, pulling him out of his memories. He'd been crouched down behind a bench that was in their front garden, clumping bits of undergrowth together and starting to build up the walls.
"You need to add sticks and rocks and things for integrity," he said, like it was the simplest thing in the world.
"Oh. That makes sense I guess. Can you-" she stopped herself for a moment to hurl a hastily made snowball at someone, and Anthony made a mental note to get her to teach George how to throw when he heard a yelp from somewhere in the garden and a cheer from Y/n. "Sorry, needed to get John. Can you like, show me what you're doing? Then we can both do it and get these walls up faster. I really think it's unfair that Will, John and Sam always team up because they all play fucking rugby, so their walls are basically done already."
"True, but we fight ghosts, darling. We know better than anyone how to win a fight, because if we lose, we quite literally die. Here, take some of this," he said, placing some of the stones he had found in her outstretched hands. "Stack them up a little bit, like I've done, yeah, that's good. Then take a whole load of snow and pack it around. It makes it a lot stronger."
"Where did you even learn how to do this? You literally never join in when we have snowball fights back home." His hands slipped when he realised that she had called Portland Row home, but he quickly recovered.
"My mother."
"Oh. Ant, I'm-"
"Don't. Don't say you're sorry. It's... it's nice, actually. Remembering her. Sad, because she's gone, but nice." He could feel Y/n watching him and he cleared his throat. "I don't know if you were in London when we had that last big snowstorm, but there was about this much of it. My parents took me and Jess outside all day and we built forts in the back garden, and then had a snowball fight. It was me and Mum against Jess and Dad. We won, of course. Mum had a really good throwing arm and Jess was complaining about the cold." He smiled at the memory of his sister's squeals when he had snuck up behind her and stuck snow down the back of her coat, running away with a gleeful laugh. An idea struck him then, and he sat up a little. "I've just had a brilliant idea on how we can piss off Steph," he said, and Y/n mirrored the shark-like smile he had on his face.
~~~
Around an hour later, pretty much everybody's forts were complete.
Will, John and Sam had taken Tom into their team (to which Y/n had complained further, since it was meant to be a pairs team situation) and their fort was huge, with walls that took up an entire corner of the garden. Steph and Linda had a pathetic looking fort since neither of them wanted cold hands or to touch the snow, but it was good enough to provide a small amount of protection for now. Emma and Ben's fort was surprisingly decent, and they had added a little turret on one side just for fun.
Then there was Anthony and Y/n's.
"What is that meant to be?" Sam shouted at them, his tone mocking. Taunts were always called out at this stage, Y/n had told Anthony, since everybody had made their defences and weapons and now they were just waiting on Nana Jean to say when they could start. "It looks like a mud hut!" John yelled, clearly thinking that they would be an easy target.
"Good," Anthony muttered, smile decorating his face. "Mud huts are weirdly strong if you build them right."
"You are so random," Y/n said, but she was looking at him with stars in her eyes. "George I would have expected this kind of knowledge, but you? Never would have guessed you knew this much about mud huts."
"My parents studied them, Y/n/n. Of course I know this much about mud huts."
"So random," she whispered under her breath, looking back out at the playing field. Each of the four teams had taken a corner (Olivia had chosen to side with her parents after they threatened to take away her tv privileges if she didn't join in), and Anthony and Y/n were in the opposite corner to The Brothers Grim (he had named them that in his head). The Bitches (Steph and Linda) were on their right, and The In-Laws (Emma, Ben, and Olivia) were on their left. That meant that they, The Love Birds, were most likely going to get attacked last. Everybody was going to be aiming for The Brothers Grim or The Bitches, since they were the strongest team and the most horrible team respectively, and Anthony and Y/n had come up with a plan.
"Are the names really necessary though?"
"What do you mean?!" He did his best to look appalled. "Of course the names are necessary, darling! How else are we meant to quickly and effectively communicate which fort we're going for?!"
"You're ridiculous, Anthony Lockwood."
"We've covered this already, Y/n L/n. I'm very aware of how ridiculous I am."
"I mean, what kind of person pretends they're a whale when drinking orange juice?"
"Yeah, but that only works if you have the orange juice with the bits in it, because then you can filter it through your teeth and-" She had cut him off with a kiss again, and while he had been in the middle of a very important explanation, he didn't mind that this was how he was being cut off. "You really need to stop interrupting me like that, darling," he said after she pulled back, but he didn't mean it. She knew that he didn't mean it either, because she was smiling softly up at him in the brief silence that they had before the fight started.
"Go over the plan one more time?" she asked.
"Sure."
~~~
Nana Jean had taken her place on the front steps, wrapped up in about ten blankets as she sat on her chair next to Gramps.
Y/n was tense, a pit of nerves forming in her stomach as she crouched next to Anthony. Their plan was supposedly foolproof, but they only had her knowledge of previous snowball fights with her family to discern what the other teams would try and do, and they could always have new tactics. The one thing they could rely on, however, was everybody attacking Steph and Linda first.
Each team had been randomly allocated an item from Nana Jean's collection, and had placed it in their fort. Their job then was to protect it at all costs, and not let it reach any of the other forts. Once in a fort, provided the thief didn't have all four items, they could be taken back along with any other items in the fort.
The Brothers Grim seemed to have the advantage, what with their huge walls and numbers, but Anthony and Y/n had spent most of their lives fighting far more threatening opponents in far more dire situations, and so this would be a breeze. With her knowledge of how her family fought (extremely dirty) and Anthony's weird knack for planning intricate extractions of items, they were sure to win.
They would even end up with time to spare to get under Steph's skin.
"Ready?" Nana Jean called out, receiving multiple affirmations in reply. "Three!"
Anthony shifted beside her, and she got ready to move.
"Two!"
The pit of nerves was filled to the brim, spilling over and making her limbs shake.
"One!"
Anthony's face was set in determination, and his eyes were flicking over the playing field as he waited. She was sure that she was doing the same.
"GO!"
Immediately action brought the front garden to life, with people running everywhere and snowballs flying to and fro, mostly missing but occasionally finding their marks. Anthony had already shot off while Y/n stayed behind with their item: Nana Jean's scarf that was too old and tattered for her to actually be kept warm by it anymore. She knew that Will would try and sneak around the back, and John would be left at their fort since he had the best aim and strongest throw. Sam would be the decoy, and Tom was just running around hitting everyone. Steph and Linda were getting annihilated, crouching down and shrieking loudly when snowballs from all directions took the top of their fort walls off. They had used the soft flaky snow instead of the proper solid stuff, and as such their fort wasn't much protection. That's what Anthony had said, anyway, and she decided that he knew what he was talking about. Y/n spotted her mother attempting to creep up behind her, and she chucked a snowball right at her face. It missed, hitting her shoulder instead, but it was enough of a threat that her mother backed off for now.
Anthony had disappeared somehow, and while she searched for a while she couldn't spot his skinny beanpole frame anywhere. That was probably a good thing, she thought, because if she couldn't find him, then their first target definitely couldn't.
Olivia made for Y/n then, battle cry piercing the air, but before Y/n could even take aim her sister was taken down by someone else's snowball, quickly followed by a "YES! HA HA!" that told her it was Tom. She looked through the gap in the bench that Anthony had left while building their fort, and saw her youngest brother doing a victory lap of the field, getting hit by snowballs but carrying on anyway.
"Got it," Anthony said, making her jump and nearly hit him. "Woah! It's me!"
She did hit him then, hissing her response. "You scared the shit out of me!"
"Sorry, darling, sorry. Got it though!" He smiled triumphantly, looking very proud of himself as he lifted up the woollen hat that had been the item belonging to The Brothers Grim.
"Excellent!" She planted a kiss on his frozen lips and he grinned even more widely as he put the hat down. "Did they see you?"
"Nope. I told you earlier, I'm like a ghost myself." He had said something to that effect earlier on, but she hadn't really been paying much attention because she was too busy thinking how gorgeous he was when he got excited. He was like a puppy, and she could practically see his tail wagging while he looked at her with those brown eyes.
"Yeah, you certainly look like one right now," she snorted. "I'm pretty sure you're the same colour as the snow."
"Oi, my ghostly complexion is going to win us this thing, alright? Anyway, it's your turn to go out. Here." He handed her the large rock that they had found, and kissed her on the cheek. "Go get 'em," he winked, and then she was off, leaving him to guard their fort while she made for her parents.
Unfortunately they saw her coming immediately, but purely because Tom was still running around like a headless chicken and had screamed "Y/N'S COMING! Y/N'S COMING!"
"Dammit, Tom," she muttered, frown on her face. She had hidden the rock in her coat pocket since it was the right size (She and Anthony had made sure they would fit properly), but she still had to get the large gloves from their fort. The stone didn't matter now, because they had seen her, so all she needed to do was snatch their item and get back without being brought down. Luckily the gloves were tied together, which meant she only needed to grab one and she could be off again. Her parents were already tiring, she could tell, but years of being an agent and building up the stamina needed to run away from Visitors all night meant that Y/n was only just getting started. She dodged the snowballs that were thrown her way, and slid behind The In-Laws' walls, taking part of it with her. "I'll take those, thanks!" she said, picking up the gloves and immediately running off again, trying to ignore the snow she could feel melting down her spine. "Here," she huffed when she got back to her own fort, nearly knocking Anthony over.
"Oh, perfect! You alright to stay here while I get the last one? Or did you wanna pause for a moment? I don't think The Brothers Grim have noticed their item is missing yet, but your parents are definitely going to start making their move on us soon."
"Just gimme a moment to catch my breath, and I'll be good to go." She had collapsed into his side, clutching her stomach and trying to control her breathing, and he wrapped his arms around her briefly.
"As much as I would love to stay like this all day, darling, I do also need to throw snow at your family because they're coming this way."
"Oh, yeah. Go for it," she replied, sitting up again. Anthony picked up a snowball in each hand and chucked them over their walls, and although Y/n couldn't see who it was she did hear an "oof!" a few seconds later. "I've still got the rock from The In-Laws attempt in my pocket, so I can go and get The Bitches' item if you wanna keep throwing? You're better at it than me 'cause I can only use one arm. The other one is shit at throwing."
"You sure?" he asked, picking up another snowball. She nodded. "Alright. You know what you're doing, yeah?"
"Yep. I'll see you in five, Schmoopie."
"Why are you calling me Schmoopie? That's my name for you!" he called after her, playful frown on his face. Her only response was laughter, which she quickly stifled as she hid behind the thick oak tree closest to Steph and Linda's fort. Their item was a snowshoe, although where Nana Jean had even found one of those was a mystery. The rock she had in her pocket wasn't really big enough, but if she covered it in a bit of snow then it would be good enough to fool them. Anthony's intricate extraction plan for getting all the items had been to use decoys after sneaking up on each fort, and so far their first target, The Brothers Grim, hadn't even noticed. They were too busy fighting off Olivia, who had turned slightly feral over the course of the fight, and Tom, who had apparently decided that no team was better than the team he had created for himself, and was throwing snow at everyone including himself. Y/n crept forward slightly to assess how long she had before either her cousin or her aunt turned around, but then snow started hitting their nearly-destroyed fort again and she knew that Anthony was working on the distraction for her. Tom started attacking Steph and Linda again too, and while her Dad had joined Olivia in attempting to break down the walls of The Brothers Grim's fort, their attack was weakening.
She needed to move fast.
Y/n made her move then, bending down to grab some snow in one hand, and readying the rock in her other, and headed in the direction of Steph and Linda's backs. They were too busy trying to remake their walls, which meant they had left their snowshoe unguarded behind them. She dropped the rock in the snow, then picked up the snowshoe, and in the next five seconds had shoved the snow in her other hand down the back of Steph's jacket and sprinted away. Her cousin's screams followed her the short distance back to her fort, and Anthony didn't need to ask how it had gone when he heard them. "All four items, safe and sound. Now we've just got to get to Nana Jean without them getting taken off us."
That was the hardest part, since Nana Jean was sat on the front porch nearly completely opposite them. They would have to cross the entire playing field and pass The Brothers Grim fort to get to her.
"Alright. You take these. You can't put them in your pockets, which is annoying, but otherwise we'll be disqualified for cheating. You ready?" she asked Anthony after loading his arms with the items. He nodded, fiery determination in his eyes.
"I'm ready. Remember the weak spots in their walls, yeah?"
"Yep." She had memorised the points that Anthony had pointed out to her earlier, and thanked his parents for showing him how to build excellent forts.
"Okay. Three, two, one, go!" They stood up from behind their walls and started running, Anthony's long legs carrying him across the field while Y/n periodically stooped to grab more snow and compact it into a good enough shape that she could throw it far. He nearly made it, and then Will appeared out of nowhere to take him down. Anthony twirled out the way (always the fancy one), and Will missed catching him by a hair's breadth, but now there was more of a distance between Anthony and Nana Jean.
"THEY'RE GONNA WIN!!!" Tom shouted, and suddenly all of Y/n's family members were closing in on her and Anthony with snowballs in their hands.
"RUN!" she screamed, begging her legs to respond. They were slightly numb from the cold now.
"WHAT DO YOU THINK I'M DOING?!"
Nana Jean had her arms outstretched from where she sat on the porch, and Y/n was momentarily blinded by the flash of her Gramps' camera just inside the window. She threw what snow she could at both people and forts, picking out the points where Anthony had said were weakest and aiming, and sure enough within moments part of The Brothers Grim's fort had collapsed, and the brothers themselves were crying out in anger.
Time passed slowly and in a blur, and before she knew it Anthony was up the steps and shoving the items into Nana Jean's arms and collapsing at her feet, then letting out a small cry of pain when Y/n landed on top of him. "Did we do it?" she asked, expression wild as she tried to catch her breath. Anthony didn't say anything, his face not revealing anything.
Then he cracked a smile, and it was like the sun had come out. "We did it!"
"You did it, love," Nana Jean said from above them, looking fondly down at her granddaughter where she was lying on the floor.
Y/n immediately pushed herself up (that made Anthony make another "oof" since she had braced her full weight on his chest) and turned around, pointing at all her gathered family members who were stood looking sorry for themselves (apart from Tom, he was still running around and throwing himself in the snow) and shouting "HA! WE WIN, SUCKERS!"
~~~
"Thanks," Y/n said, gladly accepting the mug of tea that Anthony handed her. He smiled down at her, one of those soft secret smiles that he kept for the people he loved, and sat next to her on their loveseat.
She wasn't sure when she'd started calling it their loveseat, but that was what it was, she supposed. Nobody else sat on it apart from them, and now they were cosying up like they always did. She had slung her legs over his and made sure not to spill her tea while he adjusted.
"That's nice and warm," he said, holding it under his face to heat up his frozen features. Y/n hummed her agreement, sipping on her own tea.
Everyone was snacking on random bits of food from the still-extensive collection (despite how much had been eaten at the party), and Anthony had brought over a bowl of bits for the two of them to share. Despite the slight chill that still sat in her bones, she was warm, and as she watched Anthony converse with her Gramps she realised that it was him making her warm.
Not his body heat, although he was surprisingly warm for somebody who had been running around in the snow all day, but rather the feelings he was stirring up in her. He made her feel warm just by interacting with her family, just by allowing her Gramps to tell him jokes that the rest of them had all heard a million times, just by even being here with her. He hadn't needed to come with her, and in fact he had argued against it and compromised, saying if she couldn't find anyone then he would do it and be unhappy, and yet he had done it anyway with a smile on his face. She'd genuinely believed that he wouldn't come with her, or would go back on his word because he thought it would be funny to watch her suffer.
But he was here, cuddled up on a loveseat with her in her family's house, talking to her Gramps about trains or something (she suspected it was more her Gramps was talking at Anthony), and he was hers.
Steph hadn't stopped watching them like a hawk since the snowball fight, but Y/n couldn't find it in her to care because she was with Anthony, and they had achieved a sliver of revenge themselves earlier. Her cousin was rightfully pissed about having a bunch of snow chucked down her back, but then again she had spent her whole life making Y/n miserable so really she deserved it.
He was her home, she realised. Not this house, not even Portland Row, despite the fact that she regularly called it that. No, neither of those places were her home.
Anthony Lockwood was.

do you have any destiel horrorfic recs?? (prefferably longfics with little to no smut but i can skip smut scenes)
also i love ur account ive found some of my favs on here/gen <33
Here are a few that came to mind (most with very skippable smut):
A Complete Kingdom by komodobits (Explicit, 85k words)
The sea; it swallows me. It comes up to my knees and it swallows me. The boys owe Jody a few dozen favours, and so when her niece goes missing near an old fishing village on the coast of Maine, Dean, Sam, and a newly human Castiel agree to take the case on. They settle into an old abandoned lighthouse-keepers' cottage, and slowly the tide comes in. (post-s8)
Between Love and Agony by Duckyboos (Explicit, 53k words)
Dean Winchester is in love. Like, bonafide heart eyes and deep sighs, hung-the-moon love. There's just one problem: the lucky guy is his husband's identical twin, Castiel. The two of them have been having a kinky affair for years, burrowing under each other’s skin and setting up camp. Which is why, after Castiel goes missing, Dean’s about ready to tear the world apart looking for him. When Castiel eventually returns to him, he’s been through literal hell, managing to drag himself out, bloody and raw, for Dean. Together, they discover a way to make Castiel whole again — though the price will be gruesome… and there will certainly be hell to pay.
empty places by dothraki_shieldmaiden (Mature, 71k words)
There’s something outside the house. Something is moving outside the house, moving inside the house. Maybe moving inside him. Something is outside the house, and it wants in. After tragedy derails his life, Castiel Novak needs to escape. He flees to Lawrence, Kansas, where he answers Dean Winchester’s ad for a roommate. There, he tries to mend the shattered pieces of his life. But as he starts to become closer with Dean, Castiel finds that escape isn’t so easy. The past doesn’t want to be left behind, and there’s something inside the house. Something hungry. And it won’t be appeased until it has him.
Every Part of the Animal by Askance (doomcountry), komodobits (Mature, 47k words)
It’s their first case after the Trials, after Heaven has collapsed: playing back-up to another team of hunters taking out some werewolves in the mountains. It's a routine job, an easy job - at least until the radio goes silent. Sam, Dean, and Cas follow after, but the caves into which the hunters have vanished wind deeper and darker than they could have expected, and something is wrong. Cas can feel it. The Winchesters may not believe what he’s hearing, but there's something down here with them—and it's not the people they came here to find, and it's not the werewolves they've been tracking. It's something else, something older, something violent, and it knows they're here.
Full Fathom Five Thy Father Lies by Ariasune (Teen and Up, 13k words)
"Look, Charlie thinks the Men of Letters have something that can help you actually, you know, find this monster.” “Good,” Dean licks at his thumb to get the last of the chicken salt clean. “Cause right now it seems like we’ve got a monster that’s some 20, 000 leagues under the sea…” He stops. “This isn’t some 20, 000 leagues shit is it?” “It’s a submarine, actually.” Fuck, that sounds like a yes.
Good Bones by emmbrancsxx0 (Mature, 39k words)
An apple pie, white picket fence American Nightmare. Dean and Cas, married and semi-retired from hunting, move into their first house together in a sleepy, secluded town. After a few run ins with the ghost that haunts the place, they must come face-to-face with the house's grisly past.
like a thief in the night by kingdumbass (Mature, 28k words)
Plagued by nightmares since the death of his mother as a small child, Dean Winchester is no stranger to grief. After the sudden death of his brother and the unexplainable disappearance of Sam’s fiancee Jessica leave Dean reeling, the former detective turns towards alcohol to cope with the loss, but when the news of another missing peron’s case all the way out in Pontiac, Illinois jogs Dean’s memory of an old unsolved case with possible connections to the mysterious note his brother left behind, he feels compelled to pick up where he left off. Though once he rolls into town, he encounters more questions than answers. Namely: what’s real and what’s delusion? And how is the creature from his nightmares tormenting the residents of this small, suburban town?
On the Cutting Room Floor by callsigntango (Mature, 23k words)
In an Arachne hunt gone wrong, Dean "wakes up" in an AU style world as what he'd gone undercover as for the hunt: a journalist. But when he shows up to cover what should be a routine story on a suspicious death in Kansas, the world around him starts to unravel in horrific, painful ways. The appearance of a man claiming to be an Angel sends Dean into a tailspin -- but just as something about Cas begins to spark very real memories in Dean, Cas seems to be losing his own grip on what's real and what isn't. And as they struggle to free themselves from this distorted web of reality, something sinister is lurking just beyond their reach.
The Elevator Game by bexgowen, xfancyfranart (Explicit, 88k words)
The game is simple. Get in an elevator, and follow the rules. If you follow them correctly, the elevator will rise and when the doors open, they will open onto a world that is not your own.
the gardener by captcas (Explicit, 17k words)
Dean loves the gardens at 918 Westview Lane. And if that has something to do with the gardener there that just so happens to be easy on the eyes? Sue ‘em. Too bad he hasn’t had the guts to actually talk to the guy. Cas doesn’t take too kindly to people who disrespect the objects of his affection but he does love gardening. AKA the one where Castiel gives us all a lesson in ultra-specialized begonia fertilizer
the inexhaustible silence of houses by Askance (doomcountry) (Teen and Up, 31k words)
Almost two years after the world doesn't end, Castiel falls from grace—and loses his voice in the process. It is the impetus for confession and change; before long, he is settling into a loving relationship with Dean, the Winchesters are tired, and hunting for a place to land has taken precedence to hunting anything else. Dean and Castiel fall in love with the strange little house on the end of Swallowtail Drive, and for a little while life is as it should be—sweet, affectionate, and beginning afresh. But more and more Castiel sees and hears things in the house that beg the question of whether or not a place itself can be alive. The walls and rooms seem to shift and grow and breathe, and one night, Dean comes home from a hunt changed in a way that Castiel cannot explain. In the months that follow, their domestic bliss takes turns for the dark and sour, and the confusion of their circumstances will ultimately test everything Castiel knows about the man he loves, and everything he believes to be true.
These Violent Delights by SomethingBlue42, xfancyfranart (Explicit, 43k words)
Dean Winchester, war vet and functioning alcoholic with a life that’s going nowhere, takes a job at Baltimore Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Dean had never heard of Dr. Castiel Novak notorious serial killer and cannibal given he’d been dodging bullets and performing field triage during Novak’s sensational trial. Seasoned orderly Rufus lays out the rules: Do not touch the glass. Do not approach the glass. You pass him nothing but soft paper - no pencils, no pens. Use the sliding food carrier only, no exceptions. If he attempts to pass you anything, do not accept it. And most importantly: don't tell him anything personal. But Dean was never much for following the rules and Castiel has a way of making Dean feel like he isn’t the grade-a loser his hot-shot FBI agent brother thinks he is. Then, a senator’s daughter goes missing, setting forth a chain of events that put Dean on a path that forces him to choose where his loyalties lie and just how far he’s willing to walk into the dark.
There's also our horror tag which you can check for more fics like these.
Additionally, there's the DeanCasHorrorFest filled with amazing destiel art and fic that might interest you.

Doctor Who: Big Finish, Alex Kingston Team for New River Song Stories
Alex Kingston will return as River Song for a new round of Big Finish's Doctor Who audio dramas set AFTER "Silence in the Library."
Now that Steven Moffat is back writing for Doctor Who, fans are speculating about whether River Song will be back. Alex Kingston certainly hasn't made it a secret that she would love to play the character again. But River Song never really went away. She's been headlining a River Song series in audio dramas from Big Finish for years since she had her final story on Doctor Who. Now she will star in The Death and Life of River Song, a brand-new series of full-cast audio dramas coming soon from Big Finish Productions. It's like a whole new season of River Song adventures – and the latest.
In case you didn't know, River Song is an archaeologist from the 52nd century, born and raised to be an assassin, destined to marry her intended target, and to have many of her own adventures too – Professor River Song's very messy timeline began (or maybe ended) when she first appeared in the 2008 Doctor Who TV episode Silence in the Library. Since then, Kingston has reprised the role in her own series of Doctor Who audio spinoffs, including The Diary of River Song, which ran from 2015 to 2023. Now, in August 2024, she will return in a brand-new series, The Death and Life of River Song.
The first box set in the series, Last Words, is written by Robert Valentine. It begins with River, after settling down to an afterlife in the Library's computer core, finding herself waking up in Earth's future, her consciousness having been temporarily transferred to a new body.
Alex Kingston said that River's stories at Big Finish have moved beyond her death in Doctor Who: "We have gone post-Library! We've done another episode in the past where I was within the database, which I loved, and I thought that's the only way you could go forward with River, given her situation. So, I was actually really surprised when this box set came my way and that we are now so far advanced in the history of Earth that she is able to be brought out as data and put into a cloned body. So very, very clever!"
Producer David Richardson added: "When every single day during the recording, your leading actress says "This script is brilliant," you know you're onto a good thing. Even better, at the end of the last day, Alex popped the script in her bag and announced that she loved Last Words so much she was taking it home to keep and treasure."
The Death and Life of River Song: Last Words is now available for pre-order exclusively here, either as a collector's edition four-CD box set for £29.99 or as a digital download for £22.99 per volume. Big Finish listeners can also pre-order a bundle with Last Words as well as Volumes 2 and 3 of The Death and Life of River Song, which are both due for release in 2025, for just £80 (collector's edition CDs + downloads) or £66 (downloads only). hello! can I request something about manager meeting with sae/national team and others members of NEO egoists league (like Kaiser, Noa, Oliver, Sendo, Chris Prince, Snuffy etc)? maybe some moments about coaches teasing boys about their little (actually not little) crush on manager? or some protective/jealouse moments? or some moments where new members warm up for manager too and slowly become her simps too? everything you want and can imagine!
Author: Hi!! I hope u like this one and that it somehow fit what you meant. I did 2/3 requests, I am keeping the last one for a scenario I will write later on. It's too long to fit here😵‍💫 hope u like this and thank u for the request🩷🩷
Warnings ⚠️: none in particular. Reader uses she/her and there might be manga spoilers. Requests are open

"Rin...could you like move it?" (Y/n) wondered as she tried to move past the boy, but he would just follow her steps and block her from moving any further.
"Give me those boxes! I will bring it to the team. I heard the national team is pretty aggressive." Rin said, trying to grab the box from (Y/n), but she moved away.
"Ego-san told me to bring it to the coach of the team. Rin, you are being rediculous and should go back to training. You will get punished." (Y/n) argued as she moved away, the boy kept on nervously looking around, as if he was praying that someone wouldn't come. Growing worried, the girl's glare softened and she looked at Rin more calmly now.
"What's wrong? You seem to be on edge ever since the national team arrived. Did your brother say something?"
"You know Sae?" Rin asked, alarmed by (Y/n) mentioning him.
'Did they meet? Did he somehow get a hold of her social media?!'
"Well from the news and you told me once you don't have the best of relationship with him." (Y/n) explained simply.
"So you don't know him more than that? Like on a personal level?" Rin asked cautiously, confusing (Y/n) even more.
"No? You do realize your brother has been in Spain the whole time and I am in Japan. Are you sure you don't need to visit a doctor, Rin?" The boy let out a sigh as (Y/n) used the opportunity and walked past him towards the quarters the U-20 team was settled in.
"Wait!" Rin ran after her as (Y/n) sighed, annoyed with his behavior.
'It isn't even noon yet...'
"So these are the papers I will sign? Did Teieri-san or Ego-san say till when?" The coach of the national team asked (Y/n), who nodded her head.
"They will need the papers back by tonight. Please keep the copies just in case, also I was instructed to explain how the computer system works here..."
Rin tuned out their talking and kept look around the hall nervously, hoping that she will be done soon.
'Please hurry up... if (Y/n) even throws one look at Sae, I know I am done for. All the girls like him, so why would it be different this time.' Rin sighed as he watched the girl write down the instructions.
'She always looks cute while explaining things to someone... My manager-'
"Yo, Sae! Isn't that your little brother?" A voice came from behind the now frozen boy.
'Crap!'
"Rin? What are you doing here?" Sae asked calmly as he and Sendo approached the younger Itoshi. Rolling his eyes, Rin calmed down and turned around to face the duo.
"Hi big brother, I am just here... delivering papers to your coach."
"You are delivering papers? Shouldn't you be training?" Sae wondered.
"Yeah, otherwise you won't be able to catch up to your brother or me." Sendo added.
"What a tragedy-"
"Alrigh Rin, we are done here! Ready to go?" The boy bit back a few curse words as he heard (Y/n) approach them. The older Itoshi and Sendo turned their attention back on (Y/n).
"Yeah, let's go. I am sure Ego-san will need you for something." Rin said as he grabbed her sleeve, but he was of course stopped by none other than Sendo.
"Hey wait! Don't you want to introduce us, Rin? Who is this cutey?"
The two stopped in their tracks and turned to look at the grinning boy, while Sae kept staring at her without saying a single word.
"Sure..." Rin said bitterly.
"Sweet! The name is Sendo Shuto, and yours?"
"(L/n) (Y/n)... nice to meet you." The girl said cautiously, a little bit unnerved by his smirk.
"Great! Can we go now-" Rin was again interrupt, but this time by his brother.
"Itoshi Sae, from the looks of it you are the manager of my little brother's team." Sae said, pointing at the badge. (Y/n) nodded her head, feeling a little bit more at ease with Sae than Sendo, but still kept her guard up.
"Yep! It's nice to meet Rin's brother. I heard a lot of you from the news and such."
Rin perked up at the way she had addressed Sae, since not a lot of people would call him Rin's brother, it was always the other way around. Sae noticed that too, and the way she was so nonchalant with him was off putting too. A lot of girls wished to be in your position.
"Did you hear of me too? I am our nation's star ace striker after all."
(Y/n) kept quiet as the gears in her head started turning a little, hoping that the name might come to her head. Meanwhile Rin was basking at the fact that this time, this one time Sae won't take something from him.
'Finally, she doesn't see him as the mighty Itoshi Sae, but as Rin's older brother. That felt good to hear.'
Sae meanwhile kept quiet, observing the girl and then his brother, who was sending him a victorious smirk.
"Sorry, never heard of you." (Y/n) spoke up, causing Sendo to deflate a little.
"Bit I trust you if you say that you are the star striker. Anyways, it was nice meeting you all, but Rin and I have to go. Good luck with the practice."
Just as (Y/n) said that, the younger Itoshi grabbed her wrist and tugged her away.
"Everyone is Blue Lock is a freak. How can it be that she never heard of me?" Sendo frowned as he looked at (Y/n)'s form before she disappeared.
"Let's go, Sae."
The said boy nodded his head quietly, new forms of interest and curiosity forming inside of him.
'What a weird girl... I wonder if she has any social media. Can't believe she called me Rin's older brother just like that.'
Meanwhile Rin was over the moon, happy that he didn't lose (Y/n) to his brother or his teammate. Honestly, he felt like proposing to her the moment she humbled both his brother and Sendo.
'What a day... a great day.' Rin sighed with one of his rare smiles.
"Are you alright, Rin? You seem a lot more cheerful now than 10 minutes ago." (Y/n) questioned.
"Yes! Never felt better, actually." The boy said quickly.
"There they are! Kunigami, Isagi look!" The two boys turned to look at the direction (Y/n) was pointing.
"I hope they aren't too nervous... I remember how you two were nearly jumping in excitement during your first official Bastard München match." (Y/n) laughed, remembering that day fondly as the two boys blushed in embarrassment.
"Well, this is a huge thing. And the stadium is full of Ubers fans cheering them on, too." Kunigami said, leaning against the railing as he stood to (Y/n)'s left side.
"I am glad we got these VIP tickets tho, it's less crowded." Isagi agreed from (Y/n)'s right side.
"Well being part of the Bastard München team is quite the privilege. I hope Noel-san will let us go watch the Manshine match too. Nagi said they will be playing against a big club from England." (Y/n) said absent-mindedly as Baro, Aryu and Niko ran to here they were.
"(Y/n), you made it... and you two too. I honestly thought you guys will be busy training." Niko said, sounding a little bitter that she was with Isagi and Kunigami. It just kept reminding him that she picked working with them over him.
"And miss our friends play? Never." Kunigami said with a smirk.
"Besides, today is our day off." Idmsagi shrugged.
"You guys look amazing! I hope you all aren't too nervous, in a crowd like this anything can be overwhelming!" (Y/n) said as Aryu sighed at her caring words.
"Nothing to worry about. With our skills, this game will be over pretty soon. I get even better." Baro said proudly, staring directly at (Y/n), who nodded her head.
"I am sure you all will do amazing! I can't wait till it starts! The uniforms look good on you guys too."
The last part caused the trio to blush as they nervously thanked her.
'She is just as sweet as I remember. I hope that German water won't ruin her hair though, my manager should never have an ugly hairday.' Aryu thought as he thanked (Y/n) for the compliment.
"Th-thanks... you look good too." Niko said nervously back, eyeing the girl a little.
'So cute! I really envy the Bastard München team for being able to see her like this everyday...'
"Well, don't pay too much attention to the uniforms. You will not be able to keep up with my attacks and scores." Baro said to the girl.
"I will keep that in mind, king." (Y/n) teased, not knowing how flustered the nickname coming from her made Baro feel.
'My queen is just the best.'
"Ahh they are at it again." Snuffy chuckled as him and Lorenzo watched the trio talk with the other Blue Lock members.
"They are close friends, I am guessing." Lorenzo stated with a raised eyebrow.
"They are more simps than anything. It was fun to watch them react to Oliver pestering the girl for a date." Snuffy laughed, remembering Baro kicking the football right into the said boy's head during practice once.
"She didn't agree to date him? That's a first."
"No, she said he was too extreme and obnoxious for her taste." The duo chuckled as they let the three Ubers players have some more fun chatting before the game starts.

☢️💀☢️💀☢️💀☢️💀☢️💀
It'd been four years since he took up this kind of work. Three since he'd joined up with the old man.
It was his idea, really, to form their little "Task Force" and roam the Wasteland, performing jobs here or there for settlements, providing temporary security and escort details for caravans...
But Simon "Ghost" Riley had a thought. Several, actually. But they all muddled together after a while, especially around his "team".
Their whole team, a rag-tag group of "soldiers" from all the way in the Mojave to managing, by sheer dumb luck to come ashore with their families from another goddamn country.
Ghost's family was one such case; they'd apparently immigrated 75 years after the Great War from someplace called London. He didn't care much about it, or his family, given how shit a hand he'd been dealt.
His father, the abusive sadistic bastard that he was, had fucked up his younger brother so badly that he himself turned to chems and booze, almost killing himself in the process.
Ghost had rejected that path, convinced his mother to leave his father, and they took his recovering brother and moved into a new shack he and a few of the other residents of their small farming settlement had built and they settled in there. Ghost took up a job in the local militia, defending their homes and settlements; and he became a terrifyingly good shot.
His little brother got clean, stayed sober, and married the girl from a neighboring farm. She was a good match for him and they both loved each other immensely. And it was to their small unit's great joy when they mentioned they were going to have a baby.
A baby boy. Joseph. Their mother was thrilled.
But it all came crashing down, eventually.
Thanks to the old rat bastard.
Raiders slipped right through their defenses during the changing of the watch, in the dead of night when the farmers were all tucked inside their homes.
They'd taken Ghost's farm first, nabbed him on the way down the dirt path to their shack and drug him to their camp, locked him in an old shipping crate.
He didn't know how long he'd been there, or how long he had been tortured... all he knew was that when he finally got free, their settlement was almost razed to the ground, the majority of the militia dead, women taken for sport.
And his family?
Dead. Well. His mother, brother, and sister-in-law anyways. There was still hope for little Joseph.
When he'd gotten to the meeting hall (or what was left of it) he found his father bound and beaten by the settlers, so tweaked out on jet and psycho he didn't even feel any of the pain.
He'd ratted them all out for some fucking chems, like the narcissistic, sociopathic junkie he was.
Ghost had suited up in the best scrap armor they had, bagged provisions, packed loaded weapons and plenty of homemade throwing knives, and set off to find Joseph and the others that had been taken as slaves.
He didn't even look back when he heard the gunshot from inside the hall.
He tracked them for days, maybe longer. He wasn't sure. All he felt was an all-consuming drive to get his nephew back, to save his former neighbors.
But he was too late. He found Joseph's crumpled little body beneath that of a partially nude woman, one he faintly recognized from the settlement, but not enough to recall her name as the haze settled in over his skin.
All he saw was red. Red, like the blood covering that poor, tiny, fragile body.
He moved in the dead of night, creeping like a spectre as he executed every raider and slaver he came across. He shot some, stabbed or slit the throats of others. One he left with his voice box slashed, another with their liver hanging out, both still alive as they bled to death in their dingy tents.
It took him less than an hour. A bunch of jet-addicted starved fools was nothing against Simon Riley and the black rage that swallowed him up.
He'd killed them all.
He led the surviving captives back to their settlement, along with the dead they could recognize, and then burned the camp.
Ghost cradled Joseph against him, swaddled tight in a ratty, blood-stained blanket.
The whole trek home, all his mind would think about was how tiny Joseph was. How he'd carried him like this multiple times back to his own bed after he'd curled up at their fireplace with their pet dog. How he carried him as a baby, and a toddler...
And now, he had to bury him alongside his parents and grandmother, and their beloved pet.
Simon Riley wasn't... he wasn't dead. But he wasn't alive either.
He was like a walking corpse.
A Ghost.
And his name became apt when he'd assumed that moniker (mostly due in part to the skull balaclavas he'd wear. The most intimidating one being the one with the actual skull attached to it...).
He moved like a Ghost, wandering aimlessly, performing jobs.
Then, he met the old man.
John Price, former NCR ranger, before he decided to retire early and leave. Well, more like he went AWOL.
Price was convincing in bringing Ghost into his makeshift military outfit.
There was Alex Keller, a former Great Khan that Price had picked up after his splinter tribe had been killed by his own former allies, the New California Republic.
Then there was Kyle "Gaz" Garrick, a Brotherhood of Steel scribe who became a soldier over a mission that went FUBAR, and left his chapter to travel with Price and his growing "unit".
Johnny "Soap" MacTavish, a rather peculiar man with a fondness for explosives who somehow managed to get close enough to Ghost to actually be considered a friend. He had been a Gunner, but left them shortly after he realized that he wanted to do good, not just work for caps.
And finally, there was Kate Laswell. Part of a small surviving group of something called the "Enclave" Price had explained what their group was at some point, but none of them particularly cared.
For the first time in what felt like a lifetime Ghost was... Content. He had a purpose, no longer wandering aimlessly, part of a unit. A task force. "Task Force 141" Price named it. Apparently it was a nod to the unit he originally was assigned to as a young recruit for the NCR.
Very few of them focused on their past lives, they'd lost so much in their travels, in the shit order they'd been born in. There was no reason to think about all that, now.
After all, past is the past, is it not?
Not entirely, as Ghost came to find out.
Once they'd gotten through the remains of what used to be "New York City" back before the Great War (now it's simply called New Necropolis, given it's dessicated state, and it was strung tight with "death zones".
It wasn't until they moved a bit East that Ghost suggested they set up a permanent base of ops.
He suggested Boston, Massachusetts. It seemed like a good idea, supposedly riddled with Vaults they could repurpose, military checkpoints they could loot for scavenged gear...
Price surprisingly agreed to send him alone, like he asked. Ghost didn't want to risk the other members of his "family" on a possibility he may be wrong.
But... Ghost was rarely wrong these days.
Especially about the past staying in the past...
☢️💀☢️💀☢️💀☢️💀☢️💀
He'd managed to trek to a ruined neighborhood surrounded by creeks and a river, by the looks of it, emptying out into a large lake with several other tributaries connecting.
Sanctuary Hills, the old, overgrown sign told him it was. Yeah, maybe 200 years ago, it was a sanctuary. But then again, maybe it could be again. A lot of the houses were still intact. Plenty of scrap metal, wood, etcetera.
Put up some reinforcements on the remaining structures by cannibalizing parts from the ruined structures, build some fences, plant a few crops for provisions, stockpile weapons in the cellar behind that one house...
What he hadn't anticipated on was a Pre-War Mr Handy, still futilely standing watch over his previous owner's house.
He took offense when Ghost set up his sleeping bag in the yellow house across from his master's, citing that it was "impolite" to assume the house was uninhabited.
Judging by the dusty skeletons lying in the back bedroom, yeah. It was uninhabited, save for the radroaches and bloatflies that took a liking to the "idyllic" neighborhood.
That damned robot harped non-stop, although the water it purified for him was something he was grateful for, his yammering certainly got on his nerves.
"Oh, you should have met Sir, he was a soldier too, you know! A rather polite chap, loved the Missus and their baby boy! Oh, how I miss them." The robot sighed, sounding almost wistful.
Could robots feel emotions? He'd yet to meet one that did.
But then again how long had this robot been alone, exactly?
Apparently, he remembered when the bombs were dropped. So, a very very long time. Ghost tried telling him his masters were probably dead by now, even in the safety of their "Vault" he couldn't get into. It's been 200 years.
"Look, bot..." Ghost sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose through his mask, setting his hammer down on the table.
He'd been trying to fix up the yellow house for a few weeks. He'd managed some work, namely the roof and larger holes, obviously. Codsworth had even been kind enough to help with the cutting and the welding, just glad to be of service to someone who didn't shoot at him.
"I'm a little busy, here. So if you want to get nostalgic, save it for when I--"
His eyes went wide and he went deathly silent when he heard some kind of alarm blaring across the hills. Very faint, but it was a completely alien sound from the ones he memorized from the area.
He'd grabbed his pistol, and immediately started for the trail leading to Vault 111.
Which... is where he met you.
Dressed only in your blue vault suit, with a Pip-Boy secured to your wrist, you stumbled down, blinded by the sunlight and delirious from being down there for... well.
You'd collapsed against him and Ghost grunted, deciding to carry you over his shoulders back down to Sanctuary.
He noticed a glare in the distance, like the glint from a pair of binoculars, but he paid it no mind.
The moment Codsworth had laid eyes on you, the robot would not. Shut. Up.
He kept chattering on, almost blubbering, actually.
"Oh! Oh, it's the Missus!" He'd declared, obviously confusing you for his owner, long dead...
"Oh, but where is Sir and young Shaun! Oh, why is she alone! Where are the others?" Codsworth lamented dramatically.
Ghost waved him off, checking your vitals and looking at you for any injuries.
You had none. In fact, you were perfect. Your skin was clean, spotless and pristine, unmarred by radiation or scars.
He'd been silently looking over you when you awoke in the dead of night, Codsworth busy purifying excess amounts of water, apparently finding an intact bathtub to fill, so you could have one when you awoke. Or for cooking, or drinking... he didn't really care.
He was so lost in his curiosity of the one thing he'd never seen before: you. A Vault-Dweller, that he didn't register your eyes opening, long, clean lashes fluttering as you blinked, adjusting to the dimly lit room, only illuminated by a single oil lamp.
He'd set up his spare sleeping bag for you to use, while you were unconscious.
He was honestly taken by surprise when you screamed at him; scrambling back in the opposite direction.
Oh. Right.
The mask.
Yeah, it made sense why you were freaked out. Not a lot of Vault-Dwellers were probably rocking skull masks as the latest fall fashion craze...
"Listen." He'd growled out, fixing you with a soft, yet stern glare. Ghost was not without his mercy, and he understood that this new world must have been terrifying for you.
"My name's Ghost. Not gonna hurt ya. What's your name?" He said, sticking his hands up in a non-threatening manner.
When you'd uttered your name, his eyes widened visibly. It was the same name that Codsworth had said. Could be a coincidence.
That is... Until you told him about being frozen. For 200 years.
"I... I woke up, when..." You said, your voice breaking apart to cough, your mouth unreasonably dry.
Ghost had moved to kneel in front of you, handing you his old, dented canteen to drink down in a few gulps before wiping your face with the back of your hand.
"Oh god." You cried softly. "They killed him! They took my baby!"
Ghost's ears instantly perked up, and his own past flashed in the back of his mind before he pushed it aside.
"Who did?" He pressed.
"I don't know. Some... Some guy. A guy with a scar, and a gun, he... There was a woman in a radiation suit, then the man... Nate, he..." Your voice broke off in a choked sob.
He felt pity and sympathy for you after you'd given him bits of information.
And when Codsworth came doddering in to investigate your screams, Ghost knew you were legit.
You were his owner.
And you'd been frozen for 200 years inside an ice box; your family ripped away from you by some cruel force.
After a tearful reunion and the viewing of a highly emotional holotape, Ghost watched as you silently walked back into what used to be your home.
He gave you your privacy to acclimate (kind of) into your new "life", until he decided that some things needed to be said. You couldn't be emotional in the wasteland, that got people killed.
It could get you killed.
So Ghost decided to follow after you, where he found you on your knees in front of your baby son, Shaun's, crib, clinging to a slightly rotted rocketship that was once connected to the mobile that dangled above.
You clutched it to your heart as you sobbed quietly at the horror of it all.
What had the world become? How could you, a former lawyer, survive this?
Ghost cleared his throat and straightened his posture in the doorway, looking at you in the dark. The moon was full, casting dim cool shadows through the holes in the structure.
"I know this 's hard for you." His gravelly voice dragged out with each slow, deliberate step he took towards you.
He had to take it slow, like you were a wounded animal.
'Hnh. Not that far off, actually.' He thought.
"But you got'ta understand. You need to learn how to survive here, now. If you don't, you're as good as dead."
"What's the point?!" You snap, standing to your feet and tossing the plastic rocket at him.
It bounced harmlessly off his barreled chest and clattered to the floor.
"I don't have my son, I don't have my husband, I don't have my family!" You said through fresh, hot tears as your anger and grief rose to the surface.
And just like that, the flames died, and you flickered out, deflating into more quiet cries as you stood, defeated.
"I have nothing."
"Not true." Ghost said, shaking his head. He jabbed his thumb over his shoulder. "You got a bot out there that's been making water for you for bloody hours, now just so you can take a bath. He's still here, and he's been waiting for you all this time."
You looked at him, eyes glassy and oh-so hurt, but you let him continue.
"And you have your little boy. Somebody stole him." His eyes flashed in the darkness of the room, a glint only illuminated by the moon's light, taking more steps to you until he was face-to-face with you, looking down at you.
God, this man was terrifying.
"And you're going to get him back."
"What...? But--but how? I'm just... me! I was a lawyer, for God's sake!" You blathered.
"First thing's first: you learn to survive." Ghost told you bluntly. "Then..."
He reached into the holster on his chest and slapped a pistol into your hands, the weight almost as hefty as the one you felt settle onto your shoulders, and into your heart.
"You learn to defend yourself. You need to learn to shoot."
He turned to walk away, gesturing for you to follow with a jerk of his head.
"C'mon, then. Let's get to it." He grunted.
"Right now?" You stumbled as you followed him out into the ruined street. "It's past midnight!"
"No time like the present."
You couldn't tell, but you were certain this man was smirking at you behind his mask.
"Hey... what's your name?" You asked him as he began to line up old cans and bottles against a rusted car.
"Name's Ghost, like I said. Now, lift the gun and aim down sights. Don't pull the trigger. Squeeze it."
"What does that even mean?" You asked, taking aim as he stood beside you, still as a statue.
'Still as death.' You thought sardonically.
He grunted again, his voice coming out an annoyed growl:
"If you want to survive, you'll learn what it means. Now, keep both eyes open..."

SO I was thinking about potential reverse 1999 AU and this is what I came up with
The masked timekeeper au
So like after the breakaway incident the SPDM announced the death of everyone including vertin so now everyone except constantine, ms Z, maybe tooth fairy, thinks vertin died along with the other kids it definitely says that on her file a picture of smoltin with big red letters that says deceased but she’s been actually alive the whole time, now a few months later the foundation is introduced to the timekeeper a mysterious person with a mask that is immune to the storm, and they came literally from nowhere, they have a separate file that started at the age of 12. The timekeeper was an anomaly to the entire foundation who didn’t seem like a human or a arcanist. She has a mask to hide her identity and change her voice to make it harder to connect the dots.
4 years later sonetto now a graduate was assigned as the assistant to the elusive but charismatic timekeeper. It’s a very awkward meeting because vertin has to hide her identity and sonetto either thinks that the timekeeper was awkward or doesn’t like her because of having to work with other people (this is after meeting regulus like the original timeline)
But Vertin actually revealed herself to regulus, then druvis and sotheby so there was more trust among the team but she made them promise not to tell anyone especially not sonetto.
They asked her why but she doesn’t say but the reason is she wants to protect her from constantine and the foundation since that’s probably how she was kept in line was to threaten her remaining “friends?” that somehow included sonetto.
THE POTENTIAL ANGST,
VERTIN HAVING TO HIDE HER IDENTITY FROM SONETTO
THE AMOUNT OF IDENTITY CRISIS THAT SHE PROBABLY HAS
VERTIN ACTING PROTECTIVE BUT SONETTO DOESN’T KNOW WHY
AGHH!!!
I was inspired by this and started writing this thing and it just kept going and going...
IM SUPPOSED TO BE STUDYING
but this idea fit into this thing in my drabble graveyard and revived it! I wanted to explore how Sonetto and Vertins love/hate relationship worked when they were kids and this sort gave me an avenue.
I have so many half-written things it's not funny.
For example, Carbuncle-Scheinder is over 10 chapters and going. I do one-shots for a reason! My brain does not settle, it keeps running until it dies.
I have as many snippets floating around my docs as I do actual notes for class (separate accounts of course). It's unhinged. I could post the part I have so far for the mask au, but it's...rough. very rough. But maybe rough is better than gathering dust where no one can see it because who knows when I'll actually finish it

hi i love your works, they are amazing! if you don't mind could you write a one shot with Baji x reader, where they are 12-13(maybe before boys formed toman or just formed), she can be his friend, classmate, tutor, neighbour, Emma's friend, whatever your prefer, and Baji is so in love with her that everybody can see it and reader also knows it and his friends tease him A LOT. and maybe you can write how he confessed his love and his friends helped him(while they are still 12-13)
HI! thanks for the request, hope you have a good day ❤️‍🩹 and thx for the support!
𝐌𝐘 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓
— I know it too, Baji
You really disliked Keisuke at first. When Mikey had told you that another child would be joining your group, you had been happy; only later did you realize that the child who had to join was the same one who had ripped your uniform on the first day of school. You came home crying about it, and then he disappeared. You knew he was at the same school and year as you, but in fact you hadn't found him anywhere. You had been friends with Mikey since birth, your mothers were great friends, so seeing that arrogant child join your group had bothered you enormously
Only a few months after you started laughing at his jokes. Instead, it had taken you a whole year before you accepted him playing on the same team when you played soccer at the Sano house. In short, you had gone extremely easy on him because you found him extremely annoying
But as we know, girls always have an edge over boys. From the beginning, it became clear that Keisuke was seeking your attention, amused by your aloof demeanor. He probably didn't even remember ripping your uniform when you were 6 years old. In the end, however, it must be said that you became inseparable: you put aside your pride for something that was actually stupid and after a year or so you decided that being his friend wouldn't be so bad
It had been years since you had first spoken to each other. You were now 13 years old, Keisuke had failed his first year of middle school and you had passed. However, he worried relatively little about it given that Toman, a gang built with his best friends, had been born a few months ago. You weren't part of that gang, but you spent pretty much all your time with them
"Overtake Mitsuya, show him how fast you can go!" you say sitting behind him, while you are on his motorbike. It was a beautiful sunny day and together with Mitsuya and Mikey you had decided to go to the beach. The others should have come too, but due to various commitments only the 4 of you had gone. Baji nods laughing, and speeds past Mitsuya's bike, arriving at Mikey's side "Stop being so boastful!" shouts Mitsuya "Say it hurt, loser" you say laughing "It's just dangerous to go that fast with a girl nearby... Baji puts too much trust in your balance" says Mitsuya, making Mikey, who is further ahead, laugh too
"Shut up! You know I'm always careful when I have a passenger" Baji says as he gives more gas, arriving next to Mikey "Or you just want to make yourself look cool in front of Y/n" Manjiro adds, and Mitsuya nods
“I'll kill you, you pieces of shit" Baji shouts, making you laugh. The thing is, you knew Mikey was right too, as more than a few times Keisuke had tried to make himself cooler than the others in front of you. You suspected he liked you and by asking Mikey, he had confirmed it, however you weren't 100% sure. Many times they, like Draken or Kazutora, teased him by saying that he had a more particular behavior with you, however you dismissed the situation by saying that you were simply very good friends
"Be careful Mikey! He might get mean if you say something too much in front of his girlfriend" says Mitsuya, receiving yet another insult towards Baji. This goes on for a while until you get to the beach, where you find a quiet place to sit
The four of you settled down, Mikey along with Baji ran into the water without putting on sunscreen, and you stayed with Mitsuya "They'll both get burned" you say sighing, putting on your sunglasses "Probably" Mitsuya says settling under the umbrella
Spend a quarter of an hour in silence. Mitsuya focused on a fashion magazine and you looking at your two friends in the water: Keisuke often waves at you from afar, receiving splashes from Mikey. You giggle, but find Mitsuya also observing the two boys "He has a thing for you, you know that right?" Mitsuya says "I know... but I don't understand half of his behavior" you say "What do you mean?" Mitsuya asks putting down the magazine, sitting down next to you
"You know... I've never understood his behavior. Since I was little he has visibly treated me differently than his other friends, he almost seems more protective, or maybe he would like to make himself look cooler in my eyes... but I don't think he feels anything. If he tried something would have already been declared, you know well that it would be difficult to keep something so important inside" you say, sighing. The situation had been going on for years now, and you had lost hope a little. Mitsuya remains silent, then suddenly starts laughing "Huh? What are you laughing at?" you ask slightly embarrassed "Oh nothing, sorry, nothing..." he says wiping away the tears born from laughing. He turns back to his magazine and you, sighing, let go of his behavior
From afar, however, you no longer see the two boys. You look better and find them sitting on a rock: Baji is telling something with great enthusiasm, and Mikey bursts out laughing after a while. You see in the two of them the same thing that happened to you and Mitsuya just now, but due to the distance you don't understand what they are talking about
When Mikey sees you looking at them, he yells something while waving at you, getting some insults from Baji. You don't hear what they say this time either, yet it seems as if Baji doesn't want Manjiro to say hello to you
Half an hour later the two boys return and you decide to have lunch. Lunch goes by peacefully with a few laughs and Mikey teasing Baji for deciding to sit next to you, but you don't even notice. You're more focused on thinking why Mitsuya laughed earlier
“Y/n!” Mitsuya shouts, bringing you back to reality "Huh? Sorry, I was thinking about something else..." you say sighing, taking a bite of your sandwich "Don't apologize to me, but Baji has been calling you for half an hour and you still hasn't heard" Mitsuya says laughing, while Mikey makes a very strange face "Huh? Why do you say that?" you say confused, and only now you notice that Baji is no longer sitting next to you, but is back on the nearby rock "Forget it, go over there" Mikey says taking the sandwich from your hand, to eat the rest. You glare at Manjiro, but get up and head towards the rock
It takes you a little while to get near Baji. The boy is sitting with his back turned, and as soon as you sit next to him he doesn't dare look at you "What's happening? Mitsuya told me you were looking for me" you say crossing your legs on the rough stone. Keisuke looks so flustered and you wonder if he's getting food poisoning from the sandwich he just ate "What was in your sandwich?" you ask, finally making him turn around; he seems so confused by your words
"Huh? It was a normal sandwich... why?" he asks confused, and you notice a light blush on his cheeks "You look sick, are you sure you're okay?" you ask “LET THIS GO!” he shouts, making you jump. An awkward silence falls between you
"Look... do you like someone?" he asks in an insecure way, and you look at him surprised for a moment "Um... more or less. It's difficult to explain" you say thus hiding the fact that your relationship right now was complicated "To you?" you ask “I like someone I've known for a while” he says looking down. When he says that it feels like a small boulder falling on you, but you hide it; deep down, you thought it was Emma the girl he was talking about "If you've known this person for a long time you should come out"
"You're right. I like you" he says with a speed that makes it hard to realize what he said "HUH?" you state, turning around quickly, finding him with his face hidden in his hands "You understood what I said, don't act stupid!" he shouts, keeping his face hidden. Feel your heart beating so hard it can leap out of your chest. You look at Keisuke and automatically think that Mitsuya's and Mikey's reactions were like that because they knew what he wanted to do. Your cheeks turn red, and you feel warmer than you might already feel at the seaside
"...I think I do too. And then... I know it too, Baji. I simply thought you had grown fond of me in a brotherly way" you say looking ahead of you, with the beauty of the infinite sea. You see Baji surprised by your words, but a smile comes to his face "Is that a yes?" he asks "It's a yes, Keisuke" you say, feeling embarrassed like you've never felt before, but in a good way
You see the boy quickly stand up, running behind him where, you hadn't noticed, Mitsuya and Mikey were "SHE SAID YES!" he yells coming over to his friends, making you laugh as you remain seated. Only now do you realize how much Keisuke was just afraid to declare himself

                        »»————- ♡ ————-««
Barry couldn’t stop smiling to himself as he led Alex through the masses of people that were leaving their workplaces. He had met his soulmate, he had actually met her and he had been the first one as well out of everyone. He knew that they were all on the same team, that being Kevin’s, but he couldn’t help but feel a bit special since he had found the one destined for them.
But no matter how happy he was, Barry still felt a bit of sadness because even he could see that there was something hurting Alex, something that was stopping her from feeling the same joy he had in his heart. He had always known that he’d have to be prepared to be rejected by their soulmate purely because of his condition, but he never expected to be met with sadness before he had even had the chance to introduce himself. He wasn’t sure what had happened to her, but he knew that, if she allowed him to, he’d want to make sure that sadness would be replaced with a smile.
Alex found herself in front of a small café that was only a five minute walk away from the therapist’s office. It looked quite quiet inside, despite the busy traffic outside, which she was very grateful for. Nodding a thank you to Barry for holding the door open for her, she stepped in and looked around - there were only a few patrons there and plenty of empty tables were free for them to have what she suspected was going to be one of the most difficult conversations in her life.
“What do you want to drink, Alex?”
She heard Barry ask and she immediately looked up at the chalkboard menu on the wall, her head swimming with options. She tried to open her mouth and  reply with anything, but no voice came out. She was still unable to fully speak and her cheeks flushed, ashamed of her own anxiety getting the best of her.
But Barry just smiled reassuringly and gently placed his hands on her shoulder, right on top of his mark. He may not know or understand what’s going on in her mind, but he could tell that at that very moment, he needed to just offer that extra bit of support so he looked up at the menu and offered,
“How about we just get a teapot to share? Is Earl Grey okay?”
Alex was shocked to hear him speaking up with a choice, taking a lot of pressure off her shoulders. She nodded, this option was fine with her and the smile she received in return made her feel a bit more at ease as well.
After Barry had ordered and picked up their teapot from the barista, he led her to one of the more secluded areas to sit down. She had picked up the cups for the both of them before following him, happy that he had chosen a private space for them. She may not fully know what was to come but she had a gut feeling that it would not be a simple ‘how’s the weather today’ type of a conversation. There was a silence between them as they settled in at the table for two, neither of them wanting to scare the other off it seemed. Once sat and both of their breathing had calmed, Barry finally looked at her properly and spoke up with his voice being gentle and soft, something that didn’t fully suit his massive frame.
“So, as I mentioned before, I do have a couple of marks on me. Now… before I continue, I just want you to know that I won’t force anything that you don’t want, Doll, so please just speak your mind on what I’m about to explain to you.”
He paused for a moment and looked across the table at Alex, the fear of just outright rejection slowly building up in his chest. She remained as silent as she had been, there wasn’t any indication that she would bolt again so he continued,
“There’s no smooth way to say this because I can’t really sugarcoat any part of it too much so here goes nothing… The reason why I visit doctor Fletcher is because I have DID.”
“DID?”
“Dissociative identity disorder. Have you heard of it maybe?”
Barry was praying to whoever was listening that she wouldn’t run, and that she would have heard at least something about his condition. He really didn’t want to explain the details of what it is and how it came to be, it wasn’t really a conversation to have over tea in his opinion. Luckily Alex nodded and whispered softly,
“I read about it a little when I looked Doctor Fletcher up.”
Barry gave her a kind smile and his heart was breaking just a little at how delicate she sounded. He didn’t know if it was the soul bond between the two of them but he felt an immense drive to make sure that nothing would spook Alex. He just had to make sure that none of her words would get lost between them, he’d always make sure her voice was heard at least by him. He was also relieved that she had some knowledge on his condition since this would save him from explaining everything from scratch.
Barry poured some tea for the both of them and started to explain a bit more in the meantime,
“Now this is all speculation from doc’s side but she seems to be under the impression that there is a possibility that all of us in Kevin’s body might actually share a soulmate. We all seem to have a mark correlated to us, however it is just statistically unlikely that we haven’t even met a single one of our soulmates yet so… She seems to think it’s actually just one person. In our little situation, she thinks it’s you who’s the soulmate to all of us. Now-”
“How many?”
Alex had cut him off before he could continue and he looked at her for a moment, unsure if he should answer truthfully, scared it might frighten her too much. Barry sighed, knowing it would cause more harm to lie so he replied,
“24 in total. Kevin is the host, the OG so to speak. The others, me included, came later on and so did the extra marks.”
There was a moment of silence, tense of the unknown. Alex’s mind was going a thousand miles per hour as she tried to grasp the situation at hand. She had met one of her soulmates but it then turned out that it is most likely all of them. She thought that she would be happy but it was all so overwhelming for her to even fully accept. She took a deep breath before she spoke her mind,
“There are 24 marks on me as well, Barry. So I think that Doctor Fletcher might be right. It’s a lot to take in though, I honestly do not know what to say or do or if I should be happy or sad or…”
Her words got caught in her throat and she clamped up once again, unable to verbalize her trail of thoughts fully. Her eyes started darting from Barry to the outside to her mug and to her hands, not sure if she should run or stay. There were so many thoughts and images flashing through her brain that it all just blurred together in a consistent state of movement and screaming.
Without thinking too much about it, Alex pulled out a piece of paper from her bag along with a pen and jolted down her name and phone number before she grabbed everything and bolted out of the door without uttering a single syllable. She needed to get out, away from the man who would be responsible for every single one of her marks over time. She just couldn’t look at him because deep down, without her even fully realizing it, her heart was slowly starting to beat only for them.
Back at the coffee shop, Barry was dumbfounded, still sitting at the table. This had been the second time that day his soulmate had fled from him but he knew it would cause a lot of harm if he were to go after her this time. He picked up the piece of paper and very carefully put it in his wallet to make sure he wouldn’t lose it. He finished his cup and looked out of the window, trying to soothe the ache in his chest from the very slight rejection he was feeling from the escape of his soulmate. His efforts were in vain however because from somewhere, he could hear Hedwig innocently asking,
“Is she scared of me et cetera?”

Koi no Yokan 5: find reasons to say yes (Nishinoya Yuu x Reader)
First - Prev - Next - M.list - Ao3
Tumblr media
Summary: The Karasuno High School volleyball club works towards finals. You spend this time deciding how you feel about your new clubmates.
Warnings: blanket series warnings (general background family stuff)
Word count: ~4000
Tumblr media
Yachi yelps whenever you address her unexpectedly. And she's never expecting it, so she always yelps. It's cute in a skittish, scared-bunny sort of way.
This particular instance makes you laugh. "Did I do something to make you scared of me, or…?"
"N-no! What did you, um—what did you need?"
It's the first day that Hinata and Kageyama haven't come for Yachi since you got roped into this manager thing. Variously they have and haven't dragged you into studying, too, depending on the day. You guess Yachi's just more approachable, maybe, or maybe it's that Hinata is more drawn to someone who can match his energy. On the other hand, Kageyama seems to just be along for the ride more than anything, which you get. You gel with him a little better, at least. Yachi, though, you really do want to get to know, so you let your short-sightedness drag you into starting a conversation you haven't fully prepared for.
You toy with your hair idly. You're really not sure how to approach this. When was the last time you even tried? "Did you have a good weekend? I mean, I know we saw each other yesterday, but—you know. Did you?"
She visibly relaxes. You'd like to think your own pervasive awkwardness is putting her at ease. "Mm! Hinata and Kageyama-kun came over to study after practice."
"Oh, good! How're they coming along?"
"They're nervous, I think, but they've been working really hard!"
"Really? That's great!" Uh, fuck—you scramble for something else to say. "Nishinoya-senpai and Tanaka-senpai are working hard, too. I went to Nishinoya-senpai's to help them out Saturday, too."
"A-aren't they kinda scary?"
You wave a dismissive hand. "Not at all. They're kinda goofy, honestly."
"I think everyone's a little scary, still…" she sighs. "It's hard not to, you know?"
"Yeah, I get that. But trust me, they're just excitable." Okay, okay. That's good. You're getting somewhere. "Any ideas on the whole manager thing?"
She brightens, flashes a smile. "Yeah, actually! I talked to Hinata a little before he left and I think I've settled on my answer."
"That sounds like good news! Let's hear it."
"Well… two things, really. I borrowed Hinata and Kageyama-kun yesterday for this, but… I'm gonna join. I've been actually working on maybe making some donation posters? I, um, overheard Sensei talking to the coach the other day and it sounds like the club is kinda hurting for money so we can get buses and stuff…"
Shit. She's so much more put together than you are. You're gonna have to step it up if it's gonna matter that you're here at all. "Woah. That's really cool that you're doing that!" You hope your voice doesn't come out too strained.
"What about you, [surname]-chan?"
A nervous laugh. "Well, I haven't thought of doing anything cool to help the team yet, but I am starting to think maybe this whole exam deal was just a pretense to convince us to get on board. Nishinoya-senpai and Tanaka-senpai got me on Saturday, too."
"Wait, that's great! We'll be managing together, then. With Shimizu-senpai, too, of course!" Another sweet little smile.
You are somewhere between "protect this girl with your life" and "do everything possible to make sure this girl does not outshine you".
…this might be what it's like to have a sister.
"Yeah! I haven't given my application to Shimizu-senpai yet. You?"
"Nope! Honestly, I was a bit nervous to go looking for her by myself… there's no practice until after exams now, right?"
"Right. Pretty sure that's having the opposite effect, if these boys are anything to go by. I think Hinata might explode if he doesn't get enough exercise."
She laughs. "Yeah, I sort of get that impression. Do you wanna come with me to track down Shimizu-senpai so we can turn in our applications while we've got time?"
You agree easily enough, and so the two of you make your way to the first floor, where the third years have their classes. Admittedly, you have no idea where to begin looking for Shimizu beyond that. It takes most of the rest of lunch to find her, eventually spotting her in a random classroom. Really, it's the other volleyball club members you notice--the third years apparently eat lunches together from time to time, if not all the time. Asahi is much easier to spot than Shimizu is when you're skimming a room for any sight of her.
It's Sugawara that spots the two of you peeking into the room. He smiles at Shimizu, nods to the two of you. She's quick to greet you both at the classroom door.
"[name]-chan, Hitoka-chan! Did you need something?"
"Sorry to bother you, Senpai." You smile, dial up the charm. "We both wanted to talk to you about the volleyball club?"
"Oh?" Her eyes slide between you and Yachi with interest. "What is it?"
You nod to Yachi. She holds out her club application in two shaking hands. You hold out your own, a touch more casually. Not that it's hard to come off as casual standing next to Yachi. "W-we both decided to join, if that's alright!"
"Really!? That's great!" She takes both from you, eyes lighting up.
Man. No wonder Nishinoya and Tanaka are obsessed with her. She's got this like, gentle smile and shit.
"I'll get everything handled with the membership committee. Since there's no practice until after exams, that gives us more than enough time to get your jackets ordered. You included your jacket sizes in the applications, right?"
"Y-yes!" Yachi says.
You pat her shoulder reassuringly. "Breathe, Yachi-san."
"B-but we're on the third year's floor," she whispers back. "What if we're not supposed to be here?"
"It's fine. Whatever big scary thing happens, I got you."
"O-okay..."
"Thank you both so much. I'll get everything handled, you two just focus on exams, alright? You've both been helping the others study, too, right? How's that going?"
You share twin smiles with Yachi. "Good!" she chirps. "We both helped them over the weekend. [surname]-chan says that Nishinoya-san and Tanaka-san are doing well, and Hinata and Kageyama-kun were working really hard when I was with them."
"That's good. Those four are an important part of the team, so it'll be difficult if they don't get to come to the away games. Speaking of—if you both come find me after school today, we'll need to get you both to bring in permission slips for that."
Oh.
You're so fucked.
~
Okay, cool, fine, no big deal. You have a blank permission slip and a father who's never home to sign it. This is doable. This is a clear issue, and a clear issue is something that can be solved.
You walk home separately of Yachi—after you'd offered to help put up the posters when they're ready, she ran into friends and you don't want to intrude, so you take your blank permission slip and meander out of the school. You guess you'll scratch out some time to study, to freeze some meals, to… something.
Fuck. You really wish practices weren't on hold for exams.
It's not long after you've made your way out of the gate that that swoopy feeling of your feet no longer touching the ground hits you. You shriek at the arms around your waist, wriggle in the hold of your captor—
—your captor, who sets you down with his trademark blinding grin. "Hi," Nishinoya says. "That was a good noise!"
You steady yourself, hand (and now-crumpled permission slip) held to your chest. "What the hell are you doing?"
"I missed you today! It's weird not having practice."
"So you scare the shit out of me!?"
He laughs. "Sorry, sorry."
"You never really sound sorry when you apologize to me," you grumble.
"To be fair, I did call your name when I saw you. You're the one with your head in the clouds. What're you up to? Any plans with all your newfound free time?"
"Cooking dinner. I have food on the slow cooker I need to get to. And then I'm going to study. You know, that thing we're supposed to be doing with all the extra time from not being allowed to do clubs for a week?"
"Hm, that sounds like something schools made up or something. Boring."
"Uh-huh. You know, I'm not gonna marry you if you fail all your exams."
"But you will if I pass at least one?"
"Are you gonna pass any? Believing that studying is a thing people do isn't even step one. It's like, step zero."
"Study with me, then."
He flashes that charming little smile, and you shove him away. "I can't come over. The last thing I need is to burn my house down because I left dinner on the slow cooker too long and it like, blew up or something."¹¹
"So let me come over. We'll study together, I'll be good and quiet and not interrupt your precious brain training time…"
You sigh. "I'm not exactly prepared to entertain guests."
"You don't have to entertain me!"
"The house is a mess."
"So's my bedroom. You live there, what's the problem with it looking like you live there?"
He keeps easy pace beside you as you walk. "It's rude! You're not supposed to show guests a messy home when they come over."
"But you weren't expecting me. So it's not like it's your fault."
"Why are you so set on coming over to my house, anyway?"
"Curiosity. What's wrong with that?"
"I literally don't even have snacks to give you."
Without another word, he grabs your shoulder and steers you off to the side—straight to Sakanoshita. "I'm so glad you brought that up! I can treat you!"
"I think you're fundamentally misunderstanding the role a host and a guest are supposed to play."
"I'm being a friend. Friends buy each other stuff sometimes. Lemme buy you snacks. I'm horrible at remembering to do breaks and then once I actually take one I end up done for the night."
You stop in your tracks, don't let him drag you inside. "What are you doing right now?"
"Hm?" He tilts his head. "Getting rid of your reasons to say no. Why?"
…oh. That's almost sweet.
"if you're going to insist on this, I can solve the reason for saying 'no' to going over to your house. Let's find a reason to say yes to that instead…?"
He seems to sense your discomfort, the way it seeps into your shoulders but refuses to reach your voice. There's a moment where he just looks at you, blinking, that sort of blank look that a puppy gets before it does the stupidest thing you've ever seen in your life. "Oh! That's easy. Because you want to."
You raise an eyebrow. "Do I?"
"Don't you? We're celebrating since you're joining the team! And you said before that I didn't know enough about you to be in love with you. So I need to get to know you, right? And you should get to know me. There's a yes for letting me buy snacks for you, and a yes for hanging out with me."
"If my end goal were to marry you, maybe."
He pulls you inside, not missing a beat. "I'm not giving up, so it'd be a good idea to start adjusting to the idea now."
You roll your eyes. Smile and wave to Coach Ukai, who's got one foot up on the counter, lit cigarette in hand as you enter. He nods back, raising an eyebrow at the pair of you. "Good day at school, you two?"
"He has too much energy. Please tell the school that their decision to suspend club activities during exam week is going to kill me, personally, Coach," you deadpan. Nishinoya doesn't miss a beat, dragging you towards one of the aisles.
"I'll see what I can do."
Over chips, Nishinoya talks a mile a minute and too loudly, picking up too many bags of chips as he does. "Pick something. I'm buying. What's your solution to not burning your house down?"
"I'm just going to run by my place and make sure nothing is going to burn before coming over."
"I could walk with you?"
"No," you reply, too quickly. You wince a little, try to recover. "I mean, you're grabbing a lot of snacks to carry, and I'll be quick, so…"
He watches you carefully a moment, but simply adds another snack bag of chips to his armful instead of commenting on it.
"And put some of those chips away. We're getting snacks, my dinner is already mostly done and I'm sure your family has food planned."
He pouts. He's gathered a whole armful of chip bags. "You haven't even picked out yours, yet."
"I'm not picking any if you don't put those back and get a reasonable amount of chips."
"Fiiine."
He puts back most of the bags of chips, and you straighten up the display while you mull over two flavors. Once you've settled, you grab one bag.
"Great! You wanna go grab drinks? My hands are a little full."
"Sure, sure, what do you want?"
He tells you what to grab, and you meander off. As he pays, you say: "You know I'm not gonna let you buy things for me all the time, right?"
"Tell me not to, and I won't," he replies, not missing a beat.
You say nothing. On your way out the door, you dip your head to Coach Ukai and let Nishinoya drag you along for what's sure to be a very productive study session.
~
You do actually end up studying. It takes you only a little work to corral Nishinoya into focusing. He sits across from you in his living room, focusing hard on his flashcards with this really intense look. It's laughably easy to tell how well his study session is going; every now and then, you'll notice him grimace in annoyance after flipping a card, or else brighten up a little.
For your part, you work through practice problems diligently, only glancing up every now  and then to observe your upperclassman and make sure he's still working.
It's peaceful. Nice. After a solid half an hour of quiet that you didn't know he was capable of, you stretch, ready to enforce a break, and are interrupted by something fluffy careening into your chest and borderline knocking you over. Aside from the force, it announces itself with the purriest meow you've ever heard, nearly lost—like before, you recall dimly—by your startled yelp.
Nishinoya catches the sight of you—now clutching a fluffy, bob-tailed calico to your chest as it presses its face into yours. "Oh, by the way. I have a cat," he says.
You ignore him entirely. "Oh my gosh, hi baby!"
"This is Soba.¹² She hates strangers, so I can only assume that the fact that she already loves you is a sign that you now have to marry me."
"Not if you don't ask me enough times, I don't—" Soba meows at you, snuggles into your pets with the sweetest little look on her face. Now that she's not scaring the shit out of you, you can properly look her over and zero in on her white-tipped paws. "—she has socks?"
He laughs softly, nodding. "She has socks."
"Amazing. The best cats have socks. Especially toe socks." You shoot him an amused look. "Didn't really take you for a cat guy, though."
"Does being a cat guy earn me bonus points?"
"It gives me an eternal yes to coming over." Soba wriggles out of your arms, only to curl up in your lap. "How are you not constantly covered in cat hair? She's so cuddly!"
"I'm careful and know what a lint roller is," he jokes. "Technically, she's my sister's, but… I mean, she likes me best, so…"
"I think I love her?"
"Marry me, then, and you get partial custody."
"Ask me nine hundred and eighty-four more times and give me unlimited cat access and I'll think about it."
"Deal."
"That aside, how's your studying coming along? I think I heard you swearing under your breath earlier."
He groans. "It's... it's coming along."
"What're you working on? Kanji drills?"
"Yeah... Trying to get everything hammered out before tomorrow. I need exams to be over already..."
"They'll end when they end. I'm so sorry, but you're just gonna have to stick them out. How's your brain doing? I think I smell smoke."
"Without exaggeration, I am going to explode if I do not do something with my body right now."
"See, but this is really unfortunate," you say. "I was gonna ask you to teach me a little volleyball in our break time, but I'm pretty sure moving this baby would be considered a war crime in seventy-three countries, so…"
"You want me to!?" He springs forward, flashcards forgotten. "Really!?"
"Well, your super cool libero skills would be helpful to have on deck so poor Yachi-san's head doesn't get taken off by a stray ball. Unfortunately, until this little cuddle bug leaves, that's not happening."
"…marry me, though?"
"Nine hundred eighty-three. Work hard until the next break and maybe the baby will—"
"Soba! Pspsps."
Soba perks up. Yawns. Crawls right off of you to sniff at Nishinoya's hand. He beams at you. "So, you want me to teach you to receive?"
You smile. Tighten the caps on your and his sodas as a cat prevention measure. "You sure it's a good idea to leave your snacks unattended with the baby around?"
"The baby can't open bag clips," he replies triumphantly, having produced one from seemingly nowhere and clipped both of your chip bags together.
You elect not to mention that any cat is going to have teeth strong enough to rip open the rest of the bag and let him pull you outside without another word.
~
So the rest of the study session is spent like that: long work session involving a purring cat on either your lap or his, fifteen minutes or so of him—badly—trying to explain receiving to you. It's clear he knows what he's doing and what he's talking about, but what isn't so clear is what the hell he means by things like you just gotta bump it like fwah, you know?. Still, you try your best, and breaks turn into passing the ball back and forth—him with ease, you frequently running to pick up a ball you dropped.
"Now you've got it!" Nishinoya cheers after you barely manage to not let the ball hit the ground on one of these sessions. "At this rate, you'll be playing libero for the girls' team before you know it!"
You snort. "Uh, yeah, hard pass."
"Why not? Volleyball's fun, you know."
"I'm sure it is. But A, I suck at it. And B, I'm sort of already in a club. I can't imagine I'd be a very effective player on the team if I'm instead going to all of your practices. And I'd definitely make a bad manager if I'm always going to their practices instead of yours."
"Fine, fine, I concede that it might be a little hard."
"Harder than I'm willing to bother with."
He laughs. You fail another few passes before the break is over, and then you're back inside, back to math and English and kanji and test-taking strategies.
"This is the last one, I think," you say as you settle back in at your seat. "I need to actually eat my dinner at some point, and it's getting late."
"Aw, you don't wanna stay for dinner?" He bats his eyelids at you playfully. You consider hitting him.
"My dinner is already ready, Nishinoya-senpai. No."
You fall back into studying, one last time. You're actually impressed with him—the regular breaks are definitely helping, and making sure they're active has smoothed out his jumpier edges. They were probably a bit more active than he expected, honestly—you're very bad at returning the ball, and he ended up having to dive for most of the ones you actually managed to get back in his general direction. But he's been working hard when he's back at the table, like he's taking this seriously seriously. It's refreshing.
It is with no small horror that you admit to yourself that you could actually get a crush on this guy if he were serious and you let yourself. Luckily, there's a solution to that, one you only have to do half the work for: he stays unserious about you (easy—he isn't serious and never will be) and you don't let yourself develop anything. You're great at not feeling emotions. It's like, your one big talent in life.
So when you bid him goodnight at his doorstep, you smile and wave. He waits in the doorway, reaches out to you before you go. "Wait. [name]-san."
"Mm?"
"For good luck—will you marry me?"
You laugh. Shake your head. "Give it your best, ask another nine hundred and eighty-two times, and I'll think about it, Senpai. But, just so you know, I've seen how hard you've been working, and I don't think you need the luck."
His smile is blinding when you turn to leave.
You turn down the street towards your house, smooth yourself out. The walk is brief, the house empty and quiet like always when you unlock the front door. In contrast to the warmth of his living room, it feels lonelier than ever.
You kick off your shoes, take your dinner to your own living room. Rifle around in your bag for your notebook and instead find a bag of chips—the flavor you'd set aside at the store earlier, deciding to only go with one bag and not burden Nishinoya—with a little note taped to it.
Good luck on your exams!
PS.; you can call me Noya-senpai. it's what my friends call me ;)
Fuck. You really could develop a crush if you're not careful. He's scribbled out his phone number on the note. Despite yourself, you smile and send him a text.
[name] to Noya at 19:48¹³
[name]: by the way, you format a post-script as just P.S. and then the rest of the message
[name]: two dots, no semicolon
Noya: you're welcome
[name]: ...thank you, Noya-senpai
There is a comparatively long pause of about three minutes. You watch his typing bubble pop up, disappear, then pop up again.
Noya: MARRY ME.
[name]: ...981.

Footnotes
11. Y'all are never going to believe this one, but about twenty minutes after I wrote this line, my neighbor's house burned down. Fully gutted. I got some pictures and literally heard it crashing in on itself. No one was hurt, thankfully, and it was not due to being too busy living a coming-of-age romance to keep the crock pot from bursting into flames, but that sure was a sequence of events.
12. Named courtesy of a poll on my tumblr. I choose to believe that people were voting for "grae button" (the results button so I alone could see the results) either to spite me or to force me to figure out an in-fic reason for why the Nishinoya family cat is named "Grae Button". Had there been a tie, I was simply going to add another cat.
13. Military time. Yes yes I'm American. As if it's my fault.

So I don't forget. Here is that Academy Bros AU fic that I wrote years ago. Not proofread. Rough draft. Maybe like 8th draft idk it was years ago. Anyway, here ya go!
and the birth of Academy Bros AU
Depression wasn’t something the Sawyers spoke about. In fact, to them it was something rich white people made up to get drugs from their doctors. So, when Adelina entered high school she had to double down and force herself to get through the day. As far as she knew everyone felt hollow and petrified all the time too. Besides she had her big brother’s shoes to fill, grades to maintain, and a family reputation to uphold. By the time she was 16 she had a three year old niece, Maggie, who she was determined to be there for. As long as she was ‘good’ then she was okay.
While Maggie looked like her mother’s mini clone, it was her father she took after in personality. Stubborn and competitive, and in spite of him she was loyal to a fault. Sawyer blood must have been strong because she seemed to take after her aunt Adelina as well, much to the family’s dismay. Adelina couldn’t keep Maggie from this thanks to her parents not checking the stairwell or around corners before discussing such matters.
“She’s too much like Adelina, it's not right.”
“What’s so wrong with my sister? She’s a free babysitter. We don’t have to leave Maggie with strangers.”
“She’s a stranger to me!”
“Don’t be ridiculous.”
“She’s not right in the head, Berto, your parents have always said-”
“Now wait one minute-”
“Do you really want Maggie around that? She's taking the pills now. Did you know?”
Before Maggie knew it her grandma took over as her primary sitter and she only saw her aunt for the holidays. They said it was because Adelina was so busy with school but Maggie knew better, Adelina was in college since she was born and she was never too busy for her before.
Christmas Eve
“Lina! You’re here!” As soon as she walked through the door and her voice was heard she had a tiny twelve year old in a dirty soccer jersey barreling towards her for a hug.
“Hey, Tink! I missed you, look how big you are! Gonna be taller than me soon.” She compares her height to her niece jokingly. If she grew any taller than Adelina it’d be a miracle.
“I missed you so so much! I have so much to tell you!”
“I bet you do! Let me guess, you...broke the world record for dirtiest child?”
“No, silly! I’m team Captain!”
“Ahh my little super star! I knew you would! Congrats, baby!” She sweeps her up into a great big bear hug.
“Thanks, Lina. I missed you.”
“Aw, my little Tinkerbell, what d’ya say we go sneak some of gram gram’s famous tiramisu to celebrate?”
“Yeah!” Maggie grabs her hand and leads her into the kitchen giggling the whole way. Effectively ruining the sneaking idea.
Maggie always knew she was different. When her parents used to talk about her possible future they always seemed more excited than her. Her Aunt Adelina, the youngest of the Sawyer family until Maggie came along, was ‘different’ too. Maybe that’s why they got along so well or maybe it's because Maggie’s mother was an only child and Adelina was the only extended family she had. Either way the two of them never truly fit into the polished family they were born into.
--
By the time Maggie was entering high school she saw her aunt less and less. In the words of her mother, “she refused to settle down and start a family. She’d rather live in sin with her boyfriend.” This seemed like a ludicrous reason to be angry with her but then again Adelina never did anything her family expected of her. She was even so bold as to decline her parents' dreams for her life and instead chose her own path. Maggie respected her aunt for living so fearlessly, in fact it's why she loved her so much. To her, Adelina was remarkable despite what her parents or grandparents said. She never treated Maggie like some stupid kid. She didn’t just love her niece, Maggie actually felt loved as she is. There was never any pretense with her aunt. She never felt she had to gain her approval or ask for her attention. With Adelina, it was all just given automatically and unconditionally.
So when Maggie’s dad caught her in the school parking lot with Wren, she called her aunt crying into the payphone.
“Hey, Tink! Sweetie, slow down I can barely hear you. What happened?”
“Dad-he-he said I’m gonna burn in hell.”
“Maggie, that’s not true. He’s just-”
“Lina, he kicked me out.”
“He what?”
“He gave me ten minutes to get my things and then he told me to get out of his house.”
“Where are you right now?”
“The bus station. I walked all the way here before I realized I left my wallet. Please tell me you’re still in town?”
“I’m on my way. Stay put, I’ll be there soon.”
She’s only been back to her parents house once. The same day Adelina picked her up at the bus station she drove her straight home. She was convinced her aunt was bringing her back to try to talk to her father into letting her stay. Instead she told Maggie to get the rest of her things, as much as she could pack. Maggie expected to hear her father and aunt yelling but it was eerily quiet. The silence that crept through the house broke her heart further. Her father had nothing to say. Didn’t even bother fighting his sister because he didn’t care about Maggie, not anymore. He just wanted her gone.
When she came down the stairs with her bag she found Adelina staring her father down as he stared out the back window.
“I’m taking her with me, Berto. If you come to your senses you know where we live.” Satisfied with her statement she turned sharply and stormed out the front door leaving Maggie standing in the kitchen doorway looking at her father.
“Dad?” Nothing. He didn’t even react as if he didn’t hear her. She knows he did, he just wants nothing to do with her.
“Please. I love you.” She chokes back a small sob watching him walk out of the room without looking back. She angrily wipes tears off her cheeks and secures her bag over her shoulder and walks out the front door. Adelina was waiting for her on the porch. She pretends she doesn’t hear her sniffling or see her puffy eyes as she takes the bag from her. Adelina wraps her arm around her niece’s shoulders and walks her to the car. As Maggie opens the passenger door her heart sinks again.
This time it's due to her mother who just pulled into the driveway. Maggie barely had time to blink before her mom was practically leaping out of the car and walking straight inside.
“Come on, Tink let’s go.” At the sound of her voice Maggie’s eyes drift to her aunt and then down to her hand on the car door and she gasps. She hadn’t realized she was holding her breath, as if she could control her mother's actions. They both climb into the car and once buckled Adelina pulls away.
“She didn’t even look at me.”
“Do you want to talk-”
“No.” She didn’t mean to snap but just the mention of talking about...any of it. The idea of telling her aunt everything that happened. She’s not ready to relive it all. “Not yet.”
“Whenever you’re ready.”
The only solace Maggie had was the fact that it was almost summer. It didn’t take long for the news to spread through the small town of her disowning. Seeing as how her father all but dragged her away from Wren by her hair in front of half the school.
“You’re home early.”
“Well it's nice to see you too.”
“Don’t be fresh. I thought you’d be at practice.”
“I quit the team.”
“What? When?”
“Today.”
“What, Maggie, why? You love soccer?”
“No, dad loves soccer. He only enrolled me because when I was eight I kicked Travis in the balls.”
“Oh, I forgot about that. What the hell happened to that kid?”
“He’s somewhere happy probably.”
“Okay, Tink. Regardless of how you ended up playing, you love playing! Where is my little Tinkerbell who made captain three years in a row?”
“She’s in the picture frame on her parents mantle. Maybe even in the trash now.”
“Maggie, you can’t let them take something you love away from you.”
“Besides themselves you mean?”
“I’m-sorry that’s not-I know it fucking sucks. I wish I could fix it all, I do. I just don’t want you to give up everything.”
“You have to have something in order to give up something.”
“Please talk to me. Tell me what happened that day. It’s been months you can’t keep it in any more.”
“What do you want me to say? That I’m humiliated? That I feel disgusting? That it was all for nothing?”
“Oh, sweetie. Come here. Look at me.” She holds Maggie’s face in her hands. “If anyone should be humiliated, it's him! You are remarkable and loving and you are gonna do so much good in this world. Do you hear me?”
“Lina, I’m gay.”
“I know, sweetie.”
“That’s the first time I said that.”
“I know.” She wipes away Maggie’s tears with her thumbs and pulls her into a hug. “Your love is not wrong. It's beautiful and real, and you will get to experience it one day the way that you deserve. Uninhibited and unconditional. I promise. Now, let's go have some dinner, yeah?”
Chuckling, “yeah.” Adelina stands up and physically shakes it out eliciting a giggle from her niece.
Later that night after watching Rhoda reruns Maggie decides to tell her everything. She’s accepted the fact that this is her home now. That Adelina is her only family now.
“She’s on the team.”
“Who?”
“Wren. She was on the team with me.”
“Oh. And she’s the one-”
“My dad caught me kissing? Yeah that’s her.”
“So did you quit because she’s telling everyone you’re a bad kisser-” Just then she’s hit in the face with a pillow.
“Shut up! No, I quit because I’m an idiot that misread everything and being around her physically hurts.”
“Ouch. I’ve been there.”
“Yeah right.”
“No, I have! Cross my heart. His name was Monty.”
“That fact alone is embarrassing. I guess I believe you.”
They ended up moving to Colorado at the start of Maggie’s Junior year when Adelina got offered  a nursing job she couldn’t pass up. The fact that it was a fresh start for both of them was a bonus. After accumulating credits at community college Maggie transferred to a University to complete her bachelor's.
“Are you sure?”
“Auntie, for the last time this is what I’m meant to do. I’ve never been more sure of anything.”
“Ugh I know, I know. You’re gonna be amazing! California is just so far away.”
“It's not that far.”
She never got the full story out of Maggie until she was wasted on her 21st. If she was being honest she wishes she never knew. According to Maggie, that day started full of promise. Wren had taken to leaving soft kisses on Maggie’s cheeks every time they said goodbye a few months into the school year. When Wren leaned in to say goodnight Maggie returned the gesture for the first time. Unlike Wren, she kissed the girl on the lips and then the world fell out from under her feet. It felt as if the moment their lips touched her father’s voice erupted from the sky. Before she really knew what was happening his hand was wound tightly around her arm as he dragged her towards his car and forced her inside. Too frightened to speak up, they rode in a tense silence back to the house. She could see his knuckles turn white as he gripped the steering wheel avoiding her eyes. They pulled into the driveway and as he got out he slammed the door and stomped inside. Once out of sight she let out a garbled sob before opening the door and grabbing her bag.
“Dad?” She walked into the kitchen to see his back facing her.
“Ten minutes.”
“What?”
“You have ten minutes to get your things and then I want you out.”
“What? What do you mean? Dad what did I-”
“Don’t you dare! You have the audacity to live under my roof and carry on like that?”
“Daddy, please I don’t understand!”
“You disgust me. You are a disgrace to this family. I will not have my daughter running around being a deviant!”
“I never even did anything!”
“Do not raise your voice to me! I know what I saw! I knew you weren’t right but I never thought it’d come to this. Maggie you are going where I cannot follow. I will not follow! You are burning in hell already my child. I will not stand by and watch. You’re disgusting. Get your things and then get out of my house. You are not my daughter.”
“Dad, please!”
“GO. NOW.”
That was over eight years ago. Now? Now she was about to start at the police academy. With high hopes of moving up in rank she put all her focus and energy into this one thing.
-----
Fresh from his college graduation, James wasted no time before applying for the police academy, much to his family’s chagrin. His mom, though she means well, couldn’t understand why he spent all those years working towards his BA in journalism just to go into law enforcement. Daniella, his baby sister, thought it was a dumb idea but she’s just glad he was relocating to California.
He thought he was in peak physical condition until he started training. He was paired up to spar with a woman who was shorter than his 15 year old sister. He’s not usually one to underestimate and after this 5 foot nothing had his back to the mat for the fourth time he vowed to never do so again. He was impressed, a little turned on and definitely intrigued. He initially thought she was just trying to prove herself to everyone by taking down the tallest guy but he soon realized she was enjoying kicking his ass. The Captain called her Sawyer which could be her name but everyone got last named here so he had to do some digging. He could just ask her but she was intimidating and didn’t seem to give any of the guys the time of day. He figured she had a boyfriend already or wasn’t interested in dating cops. If you asked his sister though he was assuming too much.
“Shut up, Dani.”
“Jimmy, you don’t even know her first name. Have you even spoken to her yet? It's been a month.”
“She always disappears after training.”
“Oh my god suck it up man, you’re an embarrassment.”
That's pretty much how all his calls home ended lately. Even his mom was calling him out. He really needed to stop sharing everything with them, even though they made a good point. He was teamed up with Sawyer again the following week and he realized the captain thought they worked well together. Now was as good a time as any. He found her hanging around chatting with Stevens, another female trainee.
“Hey, Sawyer. Wait up.” When she turns around he notices a look of annoyance cross her face but it's quickly replaced with a dimpled smile. As if the realization of the voice’s owner brought it on. He takes this as a good sign.
“It's Maggie, actually.”
“James Olsen,” he extends his hand, noting her firm handshake.
“I know. What's up?”
“Some of us are going out for drinks and food. Interested? Or do you have to run off as usual?”
“You been stalking me, Olsen?”
She’s smirking but he still feels called out. “I just noticed you’re not really involved, which is cool I get it. Just here for the job and all that but it's more exciting working with friends in my experience.”
“Yeah I guess I’m just used to being solo most of the time.”
“So is that a yes?”
“Yeah sure.”
--
“Come on, smalls. It's Thanksgiving.”
“I told you to stop calling me that. I don’t want to impose on your family holiday.”
“And I told you my mom wants you to come. Also, I’m your best friend. I'm allowed a nickname.”
“You’re not my best friend.”
His hand goes up to rest on his chest, “ I’m hurt.”
“Shut up,” she exclaims, hitting his arm.
“No, who is it? I want to know who is stealing my best friend from me.”
“It's Ferguson.”
“You’re best friends with the jerk that caused my ass kicking? Literally kicked in the ass because of him.”
“No you deserved that all on your own.”
“I was trying to help. He wouldn’t stop harassing you.”
“I don’t need that kind of help. You can’t just out people like that.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t realize that's what I was doing.”
“You still never told me how you knew.”
“Smalls, we go out to bars together. I see who you check out because I’m looking too.”
“Stop calling me that.”
“Too late, my family knows all.”
“You have the biggest mouth! You told them too?”
“I didn’t know! Ow!”
“What did they say?”
“They don’t care. They’re excited to meet you. Dani had a field day when she found out I was crushing on a lesbian.”
“You what?”
---
“Just consider it. I’m telling you, you’ll be thanking me.”
“You say that now but your track record for setting me up on dates is disastrous at best.”
“This time is different!”
“Because she’s your ex-fling's sister? Yeah, that is different. See also, messy.”
“You’re impossible, you know that? Just go on one date with her. I’m telling you Alex is a total catch.”
“Okay, gramps, what makes her a ‘catch’?”
“She’s brilliant and badass. Sexy and soulful and-”
“Then why don’t you date her?”
“Because I have Corrie, remember?”
“Shit! She didn’t dump you yet?”
“You’re hilarious. My little sister made the same joke already.”
“I know. We were making fun of you over skype last week.”
“Anyway! Alex is like family and also gay so I’m not really her type.”
“Just because I’m a lesbian doesn’t automatically make us a good match nor does it make me her type.”
“Technically no, but she thinks you’re gorgeous so…”
“Pfft gorgeous? Yeah, sure.”
“It's true! I showed her a picture of you and-”
“What picture?”
“The one from last Christmas...and others.”
“Jimmy! Christmas pictures are for family only! You know the rules!”
“Why do you care? You don’t even want to date her, remember?”
“I never said that.”
“I knew it! Trust me you won’t regret it.”
“You better hope I don’t.”
--
She hates this. She physically hates everything about what is happening and everyone in the room with her. She rolls her eyes at her aunt's smug face through Dani’s laptop, who has taken it upon herself to dress Maggie for her date with Alex.
“Stop sulking Tink! It’s just a date with a hot girl.”
“You don’t even know what she looks like, Lina.”
“But I do! James showed me her pic and I met her once, briefly. Trust me she’s hot.”
“Ugh will you two stop saying that. It’s unsettling.”
“Whatever. Here, try this on.”
“Dani this isn’t even mine it’s yours.”
“What’s wrong with my clothes?”
“Nothing if I was also 15.”
“Sounds like our Maggie wants to make a good impression on this Alex.”
“You know what Adelina I think you’re right!”
“I hate both of you.”
—-
“Olsen, if this blows up in my face I’m gonna kill you with my bare hands and no one will find the body. Call me when you get this.”
She wouldn’t say she’s freaking out so much as her family forced her on this date. God even mama Olsen gave her a hard time. Why couldn’t they just let her be?
It’s not like Maggie was opposed to the set up. In fact she was kind of excited with all the hype everyone put into building this woman up! Which was also the problem. What if they were over compensating or worse, it’s a pity date. She seriously doubts James talked her up successfully. He’s not the greatest wingman. The thing is she’s never actually had a serious relationship. Her romantic history was littered with hookups and flings and very few actual dates.
“Maggie?”
Oh fuck. She’s here. How did she miss the fact that she was standing right in front of her?
“That’s me!” Olsen was not lying at all. This woman is gorgeous. “And I’m hoping you’re Alex?” Maggie makes a mental note to try and get that smile to appear as much as possible.
“So you and Jimmy work together?”
“Sometimes but he actually works with my sister so we cross paths a lot.”
“Right, he mentioned that. The boy talks so damn much it’s hard to retain it all.” New mental note, make Alex laugh more.
“So how do you know Jimmy? He said you’re his sister but the last names seem suspect.”
“Oh! Yeah we met at the academy and-“
“He was in the police academy? You’re kidding?”
“No he definitely was. Obviously  he didn’t follow through with it but he was decent.”
“I never would have guessed! He’s not very…”
“Authoritative? Yeah no he’s artsy and soft.”
“I see. And what about you? Are you authoritative or soft?”
How the fuck does she answer that?
“Both?”
“I bet.” Why did she say both? Now she has to somehow be both? Pull it together Sawyer, she’s just a woman.
“Anyway, we met in the Academy and the Olsens are very welcoming people, you could say. Mama unofficially adopted me and Lina.”
“Lina?”
“My aunt.”
Definitely not first date conversation but Alex seemed fine when Maggie skated over the subject of her past and family. So the date wasn’t awful. Actually, it was amazing and she’s seeing Alex again next week, but she’s gonna keep that info to herself for the time being. Her family is cocky enough as it is.
