Question for the girl punk novel:
I’ve got a band of shapeshifting demons who can duplicate themselves to form completely new bands. They’re called The Resurrectionists for Obvious Plot Reasons not necessarily relevant to the matter at hand, but still important to their overall character arc... I’m throwing them into a Warped tour with Heaven’s Tiny Daggers and The Crossroad Burials and then they’re showing up again with the other two bands to hole up in a haunted mansion to write a new album.
While my bands aren’t perfect duplicates of existing emo bands, I do take heavy influences to shape them. Ie: there’s bits of both My Chemical Romance and Paramore in HTD and TCB. I wanna make sure the whole Golden Age of Emo trifecta is represented in this novel, so would it be better to make The Resurrectionists a Fall Out Boy/ Panic! At the Disco hybrid, or pick one and have another band represent the third band? I’ve got ideas for the Panic! band but absolutely none for Fall Out Boy, but an FOB angle would be the obvious choice for Warped tour and the Summer of Like-level drama going on in that plot arc. I also don’t wanna be too obvious about lifting certain well-known things from bandom, but make it subtle enough that fans would be able to recognize it for what it is...
I have to continually remind myself that this novel is meant to embody the essence of 2005-2007 emo culture, and it would make sense to have three bands representing...but how?🤔
EDIT: Thus far, there’s only one member of the band, even though I know there are others, but they feel like the face of the band, and that... might answer my question?
