Yay, we made it into the rotation, too ;-) My fav townies are going to live in two “fake” dorms, seperated by school.

Morgyn Ember - Erratic, Child of the Islands, Bookworm / Sage, Jester - Distinguished History + Writing elective - Study effort: High They just liked the name of the elective course: “Fiction or Reality”. And they’re not really from Sulani, I slapped the trait on for the summoning ability it unlocks.

Venessa Jeong - Ambitious, Neal, Cheerful / Artist, Greedy / comes with 1 Fame Star - Drama + Wellness Elective - Study effort: Medium

Amber Bernstein - Cheerful, Goofball, Childish / Innocent, Jester - Drama + Guitar elective - Study effort: Medium

Armand Diaggro - Snob, Cat Lover, Romantic / Greedy, Lover - Distinguished Economy + Veterinarian elective I thought it was Animal Training. But in any case he can’t go wrong with a little basic home remedy knowledge. - Study effort: High

Julia Wright - Bro, Insider, Non-commital / Innocent, Everyman - Physics + Logic Elective, already on academic probation when made playable - Study effort: Low

As you can see I enabled WW’s personality archetypes, after finally finding out how to edit them (because more often than not at least one was always guessed wrong). Now there’s a shit ton of sims to edit in the main save.

Rudie the cutie. What’s for dinner?

Sumo never does that! But then again, my experience with dogs is limited. Aside from Sumo (and now Rudi) the only dog I played for a significant time was Regina, a guard dog who didn’t have access to the kitchen. And Puppy!Sumo, of course, back in Strangerville, but he was tiny.

Anyway, Rudi is a whole new experience. He hardly ever stands still, like a dog-shaped kolibri. He also never wails to get taken for walks - I think he couldn’t handle getting slowed down that much and would suffer a nervous breakdown.

Danny: They told me dorm life would be crazy, but no words of warning could have prepared me for finding a live guppy in the laundry.

The fish’s quality was “Outstanding”, so I figured she’d sill be rescueable. She doesn’t have a name yet.

And thus a hostage exchange was arranged. Nobody called it that openly, but that was what it boiled down to.

The Landgraab Firm would allow their eldest to attend Villareal-sponsored Britechester Institute, while in turn the Villareal Firm would greenlight two of their retainers to attend Landgraab-sponsored Foxbury Academy. Both colleges were, of course, recruiting grounds for their respective mobster benefactors.

The unlikely trio would live together in the apartment at Spice Market, monitored more or less subtly by operatives of both mobs. And who knew? If the arrangement (and the freshmen) lived through orientation week, maybe something lasting would come out of it.

This household was played normally, resulting in one C- with the rest all A+s. I then put studying restrictions on the next group to get some more grade variety.

- Impressions from Orientation Week -

Tbh it was almost like high school: lots of partying, a little learning, fewer rules now that they were no longer living at home... fewer furniture, too, come to think of it. A new crowd to cow, perhaps, but even so, the Renegades’ reputation as well as word of the boss they were working for had traveled * with them.

Therefore perhaps the only real difference between college and the gang’s teenage days was that Jacques had assigned the kids-no-longer none of the usual little “jobs” for the time being.

*... This is perhaps a good time to mention that unless explicitely stated otherwise, each Sims 4 world is just a neighborhood of Windenburg, which in this AU has about 500,000 - 700,000 residents (so, comparable to Fankfurt/Main, Essen or Leipzig).

Meanwhile the four remaining Renegades moved into a house in Windenburg’s countryside.

This group was played with study restrictions (no editing papers/presentations, no extra effort in class, no homework/skilling except for key signature skills).

Aaaaand right in time, just after the first semester’s results were in, Jacques Villareal came knocking at the Britechester dorm. He really doesn’t waste the smallest opportunity to recruit!

Jacques showed interest in Jordan and Armand (although the latter is a Foxbury student who was only on site for the party).

So, Lily, what exactly are you freaking out about? The skeleton or Rudi?

Jordan: “Ouch! Ouch! Hey, I’m on YOUR side, you blindfish of a dragon! Britechester student here!”

Mascot (deep and menacingly): “But you came with THEM. The enemy.”

Jordan: “Well, yes, they are my friends. From before college.”

Mascot (again deep and solemn this time): “This, little freshman, is where WAR turns UGLY!”

The Britechester Spirits Corps members are actually nice guys and gals, even in the presence of Foxbury kids. I get the impression the school rivalry is more of a stage show than a real thing.

At the first weekend Mia visited her parents and younger siblings...

Karlie: “Are you sure about chasing an academic degree, sweetie? You scored a D- in your first test! Only the outstanding drawing from your elective saved you from academic probation.”

Jaylen: “So you’re saying she’s doing pretty much the same she did in high school? Seems to still work, if you ask me!”

Karlie: “I’m saying that if she cannot commit to studying, our kid’s better off in a field where she can excel. Doing a degree by halves will be doing her less good than entering a “lesser” career in which she’ll be actually good.”

Mia: “Uh, mom, you know what, you are right. All I want is to one day have a family like we are. But the thing is, I started viewing Brandon with different eyes recently... And he is very dedicated to his goal.”

Karlie: “Brandon? Brandon Colch? Dedicated?! Are we still talking about the same boy?”

Jaylen: “Yeah, sure. The little geek who’s desperately trying to hide the fact that at the age of nineteen he still wants to build spaceships for a living. Puts in five hours of work to avoid four, usually...”

Karlie: “Is that so? I never noticed... Haha, I guess it really takes one to know one!”

Jaylen: “Hehe, true. Anyway, with Jacques behind him for motivation Brandon’s likely to end up, well, not exactly building spaceships, but becoming a decent engineer.”

Karlie: “Decent...”

Jaylen: “...doesn’t cut it, I know, dear. But look at it this way: Brandon may be a decent-only engineer, but he seems to score as the very best in the relationship department according to our kid.”

Karlie: “Oh, well. If it makes her happy...”

And so it began... or ended... or began to end... Words didn’t matter, not in the face of all the conflicting emotions the Renegades were experiencing.

Like desire, in case of Ulrike and Carlos in Selvadorada. What was it between them, they wondered? They were simply the two oldest members of the gang, in no way did that mean that they had to become a couple! But here they were, doing exactly that...

Meanwhile in Windenburg Wolfgang and Morgan had opened their acceptance letters and found that they had gotten into a distinguished program each (and two more in Wolfie’s case). The problem was that those were Foxbury courses, the academy that had gotten founded by Jacques Villareal’s bitter rival, the Landgraab firm. Even considering to join the Foxbury programs counted as treason in Jacques’ book.

“You always tell our parents that we do not think about our future enough”, Wolfie snapped, albeit from a save distance. “Now we’re doing exactly that, so what’s your gripe, old man?”

“This “future” of yours, Wolfgang Gernot Munch”, the mobster replied, “might be very, very short!”

But even as he cursed after the teenagers, Jacques knew he would not order their deaths. Max would be heartbroken, as would be Mila.

That’s exactly why I tell my operatives to keep dependencies like friendships to a minimum. Why couldn’t I listen to my own advice! the aged mobster mused.

In a warm late summer night the Renegades were sitting in the spacious garden at the Villareal grounds for a party. Cake and Lanterns usually wasn’t their style, but it was Jacques Villareal’s, the same Jacques Villareal’s who was paying their college tuition. So they played along... for now.

Those teens had went from loners and bullying victims to a neighborhood menace groomed for positions in his criminal syndicate by Jacques. As outsiders they had been easy recruits, every last one of them, but in time had revealed talents at various fields. The Renegades could hardly remember a time when they had not been together as a gang and expected that to be no different in the future.

Tomorrow their acceptance letters from Britechester Institute would arrive. With Jacques as your benefactor every letter from Britechester was an acceptance, naturally, the only question being whether the students had qualified for one or more distinguished programs.

Those gathered here are the middle ones, ready to transition to young adults: Yuki, Morgan, Neal, Mia, Brandon and Wolfgang. I’m playing the Villareal twins as a bit younger & still in high school, and the older Renegades, Carlos and Ulrike, are at the moment on an expedition to Selvadorada. They will rejoin the group later.

Wolfgang and Morgan moved in with another freshman who was looking for roommates to cover the bills. Their new apartment had enough space for all three of them and a balcony with a nice view over Windenburg’s Spice Market. But of course that didn’t do much to lessen the weight on their shoulders. Eventually the adolescents opened up about their situation to their agemate:

“You may not believe this, but we’re actually sort of on the run. Jacques Villareal has done a lot for us personally and for our families, and now we betray him by enrolling at Foxbury Academy...”

“Joke’s on you! Because I am in fact the Landgraab heir and have just enrolled at Britechester Institute! I’m a little disowned and a bit of disinherited at the moment because of that.”

Not kidding you, Johnny and his measly 4 Comedy skill points (no other skills at all) made it into the Distinguished Drama program!

It’s lowkey heartbreaking, but now that the older Renegades are at uni, Max needs to refill his gang. Tane and Rohan are new, Brantley and Abbey are younger siblings of former Renegades and Tina is Trent Traveller’s daughter. I decided against adding Lukas Munch, because he’s too sweet for this group. Adventurous, yes, but no criminal energy at all.

At the end of the first week, and fittingly two sim hours before the end of semester results would be in, Jacques dropped by. Naturally he wants to see how the money he put into these kids is doing!

I was edgy, too, although for a different reason than Jacques. While he was expecting excellence, I was hoping my systematic slacking had payed of and produce more varied grades (spoiler: it did).
