Occult Recipebook

Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and caldron bubble.

INTRO

Occult gameplay is up there with one of my favourite ways to play. Food is a part of our Sims lives, and should also be for occults so that they can cook up their preferred foods.

This Occult Recipebook is a collection of custom recipes (food and drink) for Occult Sims in the Sims 4.

I have started off this occult culinary journey with: ✨SPELLCASTERS✨

I have plans to later create foods for each occult life state, so I will keep adding to the recipe book.

“Spellcasters” as a life state can be played in so many different ways: they can range from gnarly evil witches who practice black magic and eat bird entrails, to happy little fairies who live in cottages surrounded by woods and flowers! I have tried to include a little bit of everything in the recipes I have created. These foods are a mix of fairy, fantasy, green garden witch, apothecary, or black-magic sorcerer etc. 

They effect Spellcasters and/or human Sims in many weird and wonderful ways.

E.g. Nettle Tea which helps teenagers suffering with acne, Milk Thistle Biscuits which leave the consumer with prickly thistles in their tongue, and Eye of Newt Soup which most Sims will find disgusting but which Spellcasters will happily slurp up.

10 Random Facts About Me

First off, thank you @venriliz for tagging me, I literally do not know what to say, but I'll try to come up with 10.

No 1. I was born November 17, but was supposed to be born on November 29th. I turned in a way that meant I would have come out feet first. No 2. I identify as non-binary, but I use She/He/They pronouns. Sid isn't my legal name, nor do I plan on legally changing it anytime soon, but I just identify with Sid more than my real name (I also just don't want my real name anywhere online) No 3. I have a ceramics and jewellery degree, only honors tho because the thought of staying another couple of years in schooling made me wanna gouge my eyeballs out. No 4. Much like Ven, I do not want children. I might change my mind in the future, but right now, no. I can barely take care of myself, why on earth would I bring a poor human who would also rely on me onto this planet.

No 5. Used to be Christian (was christaned and everything), but that was mainly because my mum's religious. Just started to not believe in it fully, but I also don't fully disagree with it. So that was just a winded way of saying I'm agnostic. No 6. My first Sim's game wasn't a mainline series, but was actually My Sims, for the Wii! (the worst version, PC is better). I played a few of the other games in the series, but nothing (NOTHING!) beats My SIms Agents. (EA, bring back My Sims, or port it to a console, I'm BEGGING! No 7. Since I post a lot more about Fashion Dreamer than Sims (1 post, 1 sims post), I have been playing the Syn Sophia games (the Style Boutiques games at least) since the original one on DS. (Syn Sophia, if you're able, post those games to the switch too! Or remake the first one!) I first owned a totally legal, not at all pirated, copy of it that totally didn't stop me from going past a certain point, hahaha🏴‍☠️ No 8. Outside of the Sims and Fashion Dreamer, games I enjoy playing are Ace Attorney, Persona, Detective Grimoire, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, and whatever indie game I can get my grubby little hands on. No 9. My user name was actually inspired by @/early-gape (I have had so many iterations of this user name of this god forsaken hell site/app), but I made it rat. Used to have a side blog called distressed-posum, cannot for the life of me remember what I reblogged there, but I'm fairly certain it was fanfic related. No 10. I'm Welsh! ...Nothing else to add really, just that I'm Welsh.

So some of those facts were a bit of a reach, but we're here, and it's over, I can go to bed (code for stay up until 12 watching funny videos on my phone.)

Obsidian.MD - 3 Vaults

As I've previously mentioned, I have split the melting pot of my Notion into 3-4 Vaults. These are my Book of Secrets, Dvalpersy, Gaming Vaults (Sims, Starbound).

Book of Secrets

This is the vault that I spend almost the most time in, besides the next one. I am currently having to tidy it up because the Notion Import was really messy. I am condensing the many pages that were built out of the Notion system of tables&databases creating pages upon pages into singular pages, or in some cases, just deleting them.

This is slowly creating a change in my Graph where it is becoming a bit more readable and easier to hover over the dots. It's also taking less stress off of the Local Graphs. Things I want to do include this:

Refine Notes Snippets from Past/2019-2023

Make Book pages uniform, scrape data from old posts to help compile clearer Book pages.

Expand Grimoire "leaves" so that branches can be built with connections to Books & other topics.

Templates! I want to go through all my journaling and look at the data I seem to most often focus on, and create Templates for each of these, and use Templater Plugin to automate the Note Placement based on Template Used.

But, I have managed to create and refine my Personal Timeline using the plugin April's Automatic Timelines. This plugin has made it very easy to create one massive giant timeline of all the major "plot points" of my life, and then to go in and also create smaller more nuanced timelines of relationships, patterns in jobs and such. It's easy to get lost in this plugin and in my own personal history. It was a bit wonky at first, but after fixing the Date Format, it worked fine!

Dvalpersy

This is where I may spend more time, to be honest, because this is my Writing Vault for the world I am building. There are far more plugins on this vault, it has its own custom 21-month Calendar with 723 Days, and April's Automatic Timelines also help keep all the events that add to the WorldBuilding Lore organized. I have some main folders, History & Lore, Population, World, and Writings.

I am currently emailing back and forth to figure out why the Longform plugin isn't formatting it's Index for me correctly, I really don't understand what's going on there, but all the other plugins I use seem to be working completely fine!

I use a lot of Canvases in this Vault, which is very neat, but some people chose to use Excalidraw. I've been thinking about it because aesthetically it looks rad as hell.

I have built a considerable amount of templates here that I will probably be borrowing from in order to help create templates for my BoS Vault.

Gaming Vaults

I used to use Notion to keep my Rules & Excel or Google to keep the data on my Sims, but I am attempting to do that in one app here with Obsidian. Granted, I haven't used it much for Sims. What I did end up using it for was Starbound.

It all started with creating my Captain's Page, and then each planet she visited began getting a page and small stories began to build, and soon it was almost like a strange wikipedia of her adventures. It has me wanting to completely scrub out my Starbound data and start fresh, because multiple characters/captains could each have a separate page and their adventures could almost never touch-- unless, by chance, they did find the same planet. And the Universe, that stays the same on your PC with Starbound, or so I read, so this actually has me quite fascinated with the capabilities.

The plugins on these tend to be really basic, and usually I lean on the ITS theme for these Vaults as well.

Woodland Cake 🧚🍄

This year, I wanted to go in a bit of a different direction and delve into the wondrous and magical (rather than the ghoulish and scary!). Here is a manifestation of my longing for a fairy occult to be introduced...

This cake depicts the enchanted diorama of a magical woodland scene.

However... if you look closely, you might see some real fairies flitting about this wonderful little world! Thumbalina in particular likes to sit on the head of toadstools and sew little skirts out of soft dandelion leaves.

Are there any sims 4 modders following me?

Hi everyone,

I have been pondering getting into modding for the sims 4 for a while now. I have attempted making some basic ones by following some tutorials and guides but I'm afraid I am a bit dense, and I've never actually gotten around to it. It seems like I need a more 1-on-1 treatment, personal tutoring; someone that I can ask questions to when I get stuck on a step or can't make something work. I have a lot of cool ideas -in my humble opinion- and I am really passionate about the prospect of adding more depth to the gameplay.

Can anyone help me? Even if you are not a modder, please spread the word that a random dude needs help with making mods. I'll drop one of my ideas to demonstrate what kind of stuff I'm eager to make;

Book of Shadows / Grimoire object for Spellcasters

I want to make a custom "book of shadows" or "grimoire" object that'd function like Parenthood journal, basically sims could write in them, but with new custom interactions for "spellcrafting". Recording rituals, dreams and visions, writing poems and witchy stuff, you know... The journal could also be used for practicing magic rites, which would unlock certain spells and alchemy recipes & could be passed down by the owner to someone else, who would only have the ability to "study magic" to learn those recipes and copy them to their own grimoire.

My modding capabilities are limited to creating graphics as of now, I have NO freaking clue about how to copy object tunings or tweak codes to write these custom interactions; but as I meantioned above, I am -very- passionate. If I can manage making this mod somehow, I promise I will come up with even better ideas and add more depth to your gameplay over time. <3
