STRANGERVILLE: A COLLECTION OF CLOTHING ITEMS FROM THE SIMS 4 PACK, CONVERTED TO THE SIMS 2 + BONUS [download - 🌵]

welcome to the nonsensical-pixels blog: inconsistent previews since est. 2022!

have you ever gotten frustrated by the lack of desert-appropriate clothing out there? maybe you just want your sims to wear anything other than long knitted cardigans in hot weather. or hey, maybe you just like the vibes that come with the strangerville game pack and want them for ts2. well look no further, my strangerville collection is here!

started working on this set at the start of the month, while i was still playing strangertown (rip) but left it to cool for awhile while i went off to play some other custom 'hoods. well, until i started playing natosi by @oceansmotion recently and was in desperate need of more desert clothing, so i decided to resurrect this old project!

there are 6 clothing items included: 2 for adult females, 2 for adult males, and 2 for unisex kids! 🥳 age conversions are welcome!

i know that the original ts4 game pack isn't everyone's cup of tea--personally, it was my favourite--but the clothing sure looks great for ts2! again... at least in my opinion. i hope your desert-dwelling sims enjoy these new cas items--and the 'lil bonus i included!

oh, and because i struggled a lot finding a good backdrop for my previews... have a bonus download! i cloned & edited one of honeywell's easy peasy backdrops to remove the props, and changed up the uv map slightly. then i made random sims 4 themed desert recolors using night cafe! there are 4 swatches in total.

credits go to honeywell for the original mesh & night cafe for the backdrop swatches!

Today's collection comes with 7 CAS meshes (a total of 11 including 2 BB objects that I won't cover) . Get ready lmao,

Flannel Shirt: 36,504

How does this compare to Maxis clothes?

Alright, for the boots with legwarmers, the highest poly count i saw for boots was 1,478. If we round up 109.8k to 110k and use the average of 900 for maxis boots we have a ratio of 110: 1.

Flannel Shirt: I'll be using yesterday's top reference (of 4.2k) and rounding the shirt to 37k. This gives us a ratio of 185: 21 or 8.81~: 1 if you want smaller numbers.

Nails: the highest was 1040, so if we round 21.1k to 21.2k and the nails to 1.0k, we get a ratio of 106: 5

Necklaces: highest I saw was 3688 (no scarf or chokers included) so well round that to 3.7k and keep the other at 19.3k giving us a ratio of 193: 37 or 5.22~: 1 if you want smaller numbers.

Rings: we'll round them to 17.7k and the highest maxis ones I found were 364 (we'll round to 360). This gives us a ratio of 295: 6 or 49.1˙66: 1 in smaller numbers.

Skirt: We will round down to 64k and the highest (short) skirt I found was 1674 which we'll round down to 1600 giving us a ratio of 40: 1.

Sunglasses: we'll round it to 8.4k the maxis sunglasses that look closest to it are 804 (so we round to 800). This will give us a ratio of 21: 2 or 10.5: 1.

Tank: lets round to 42.2k. Most similar maxis tank was 3.2k. This is a ratio of 211: 16 or 13.2~: 1 for smaller numbers

Rating: 0/10 [honestly can I give it a negative 5?]

2. MESH VISUALS

Covers questions like "Does this CC look as it does in its AD?" and "Is there any clipping?"

Problems 1 & 2:

surprisingly, the clipping issues were minor, for problem two maybe weight tweak needed and the first lower poly would suffice as the lovely @saruin informed me could happen with high poly clothes.

Next... is the textures themselves.

(klubb to the left | AxA to the right) Need I say more? the texture is abysmal.

(klubb left | saruin right) Yeah, nails are small but theres better detailed ones for waaay less poly. The only reason i won't complain too hard is because nails lack an actual UV spot.

Lastly, (no pics) the tank top itself I actually enjoy texture wise. Same for the necklace and shoes, but the skirt and flannel top are definitely not the greatest. The colors themselves are relatively pleasant to the eyes.

Rating: 6/10

3. WEIGHTS

Again, this pretty much overlaps with the previous section (maybe ill merge them lmao) and aside from the flannel shirt already addressed the rest of the cc didn't have any issues.

Rating: 9/10

4. UV TEXTURE (mapping)

This section is meant to answer the question,

"Will any conflict with other parts such as shoes, hats, etc?"

No conflict: flannel shirt, tank top, glasses, rings (you just cant use others from the same hand).

Minor conflict: shoes may conflict with certain bottoms, skirt may conflict with certain tops, necklace may conflict with nose rings, and whatever biceps cover lmao.

Major conflicts: nails, high chance of conflicting with tops.

Rating: 4/10

reason: it's annoying af to know their OWN skirt and shoes somewhat overlap each other and would have easily avoided it if they simply moved the textures a little lower/higher into their proper sections.

5. UNIVERSABILITY

This section covers questions like:

"Does this work for large muscular and/or fat sims?" "Does it work if my sims are the lowest body mass?"

The necklace does not properly morph with max fat/muscle, but the tank, shoes, skirt, flannel do.

BUT i have come to realize there are bigger weight issues at the armpit area of the flannel upon checking the outfits on multiple sims. Ying's stupid ass hair blocked some of the clipping lmao. So weights is now 5/10 instead of 9/10

Rating: 8/10

What follows is not the way preview posts are generally done, I know, but I’m not really a cc creator. Think of it more as a themed teaser post with the option to download some of the stuff if you so desire.

LBB

Nolo contendere. Good, free advice to all comers. So went the smack talk (supplied by his ex-paralegal sister-in-law.) At the height of his powers, the only real challenge for Carlos Contender was himself.

Of course, all the greats must topple...eventually.

Added fat morph to LBB for...reasons. Doesn’t exactly match generic morph because I wanted it to look like someone who doesn’t realise he’s not quite as fit as he once was squeezing into the old trunks.

AM (Maxis)

Thought we’d seen the last of Harry Barnes...but I could not bring myself to just pluck out a random sim with no other relevance. So, before he was the Chestertons’ chauffeur, Harry Barnes was an up-and-coming prizefighter who had won and then lost James (Stella’s father) a fair bit of cash. But never let it be said that James Chesterton holds a grudge. When Harry’s rising star crashed and burned, James gave him a job...driving his kids around.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT (as the past inches toward present and future potential)

AF (adult female and all teens only Maxis Shape)

It wasn’t until I decided to go ahead and do the women that I realised separates would work best. And in the process I got a notion to use my Fight The Power sequence, but being my first dance anim it was absolute crap. So I started over from scratch until *ding-dong* I remembered that I still don’t actually need it right now. So this is as far as I got but I’m much more hopeful for the end product by the time I get back to Desiderata.

Also co-opted this outfit by SweetAmberkins and put ‘em on the needlecream boots. Only these 6 of their original 16 colours, though, because they matched pre-existing boot textures. And here you can see the rest of my accessory gloves’ colours.

Gavin and Vi were the natural choice for my teen pugilists.

Which meant Ginger and Rick got dragged in and put to use modelling fat morphs.

Michelle’s policy does not, so for the top mesh derived from this dance outfit from both FT and AL, I’ve only included the two maxis colours. (All other tops shown just for characterisation purposes.)

And, finally, the boxing gloves are derived from a TS3 object. All male full-body outfits come with and without the gloves meshed on - no chance of hands poking through. Only black and red, alternating on the 4 maxis trunks colours.

The accessory gloves work for all genders, Teen through Elder. The mesh has a natural curve and bone weights to curl more with balled fists - so it looks crazy in Bodyshop & CAS, but the fist overlays on DeeDee’s posebox work well for keeping all digits unseen in play.

Comes in the light maxis red and also blue, yellow, green, & black.

TS4 CAS mixed collection

Once upon a time SSNL opened S4S and couldn't stop to make little simple creations, until it was enough for whole collection...))) Every item was uploaded separately.

Do you miss the BLACK color of CAS content so much how I do?? I never understand why EA don’t make it... So I do this on my own. I have found these boots in hidden contents in S4S and thought: not bad, need only little bit of recover... I changed the color and the texture. Now they are available for all the family :)

NOTES / KNOWN ISSUES:

Most of the items are shinny in CAS, but look fine in game.

Both tops have some shadows along the exterior seams in CAS, but aren’t visible in game.

The female top may look weird on big-breasted sims in the mentioned area because of how low-poly it is.

The original male top mesh had the straps painted-on, but for TS3 I extended the mesh.

The female jeans - best to use pale colors on the pre-patterned presets.

Some textures have been replaced to better fit TS3.
