With so many maids getting pregnant and moving in with sims, the game needed to spawn a new maid, and thus Houston was born.
I love him already.

Sneakin' with the Deacon
Ugh. This photoshoot is just not...giving.
It's not what I want.
It's not from the scene itself and so far trying to stage these chapter headers is just not working. Likely because, as I keep saying, I no longer know what I'm doing. Just feels...awkward.
Didn't like this after-the-fact alternative either. Had to stick with the original, which is from the scene itself, like Saturday's - the one I never wavered on.
Looks like I'm going to have to further subdivide, with Saturday in two parts, so I'll need another header. But, clearly, I'll be pilfering a pic from my extras , like always. No half-assed staging. More organic, less awkward.

The household was thriving. Hugh brought in $50,000 from his job as a one-time bonus. Now flush with cash, the Bellums paid off the cabin in full.

Going to remake Widespot from Sims 2 in Sims 4 as that's all I have on my computer right now. I play slow, so it'll take me a week or two for each family to be set up and have their house built. I plan to use the original Widespot as a basis and add some Sims 4 twists from the packs I have. For starters, I don't have Stragetown, so Penny and Woody can't be aliens. But I do have mermaids. So they will be mermaids. The Land family is all about living with the land, so they will have cows and chickens from the cottage living pack. I'm going to try to limit each family to base game and one pack. Then once I start playing them I can add other packs in. I wish I had get famous for the Hart family, but that's another one I don't have. I'll have to figure out what fits them best as I add everyone in town. For the world I plan to use New Crest as its already empty. They'll be able to meet Sims from other towns and move away as they age. I'm really looking forward to it.
Edit: Didn't realize aliens were from Get to Work, not Stragetown. But now I know. Thanks! 😀

Watching Breaking Bad and now can’t unsee Rich Mann from Widespot as Walter White. It doesn’t fully make sense but both do have a crime career and a son named Junior is what I’m saying.

I actually said in a comment to someone else more or less what I was going to say when I took these pics drifting around in tab mode from the Beech lot a few days ago, which is that I am not in any sense an aesthetic simmer.
I crop but don't otherwise edit my pictures. (Except to fix or splice in some details, like the missing bodyhair I mentioned a while back- I tried to restage but I no longer know what I'm doing, it was just easier to futz about in GIMP even though I'm not a visual artsy type so what looks satisfactory to me might be jarring to someone with a more discerning eye - oh, and some views through the windows have changed so I did my best to alter those as well where it bothered me too much. Turned out well enough for me to be willing to use them in the story and not expect anyone to notice, but who knows?) My point was that I've always insisted on the story shots actually looking like the game that I played.
Now that Reshade is available for TS2, that does offer new possibilities, but I don't know. I actually kinda hate the more realistic depth of field. I spent all that time set designing my world, I want to see it clearly! Lol. And, importantly, for my stories, the camera is not aligned (or allied) with a viewpoint character, it's more aligned with an omniscient-ish narratorial perspective and so sees things more clearly than the sims themselves. Also, some of those background details become plot specific. Like the shots of Mary dragging a cart around the hood deco, far from any lot. Not sure they'd even be possible or how the camera is affected in tab mode with Reshade. Still, apart from the DOF selling point that I don't actually want, some of those presets I've seen are awfully pretty...
(view from the opposite side during normal daylight hours, not quite as ❤️ but still good enough for me)
Oh, yeah, the point, again. So I have no fixed aesthetic, but my point was that I still really love the way my hoods look. Probably not exactly "pretty" to anyone else, but I love them! Pre-developed/Undeveloped Widespot in particular these days. ("Developed." It's still got quite a long way to go even in its more contemporary phase). None of the tall grass in these shots nor most of the trees will be there when I get back to Present-day Widespot (well, actually 2015 is where I left them. Yikes.) But I converted them so at least I got some use out of them.
I know, I know, I've shown this one before. And, actually, it was edited. Brightened or I think I used a curve preset in GIMP to be able to see the text because all the little Whos and Who's Whos in Widespot keep shouting at me. And I did finally hear a who and load up the hood after all these years. Progress!
So, We Here.

You May Now Goose the Groom
(And while I'm at it, here's another shot of cc unlikely to be spotted. I have one shot clearly framed just to show it off but it might still get cut.)
Beulah's hilarious. She surely did give Homer a good grab right before she said cheese for the camera! It was all right and proper. The vows had been said...they were on their way! No family or friends to bear witness, of course. They weren't even in their hometown. But...they were together and together they had a future.
Now, it might look like they're dressed from an even farther back past than this was, but Beulah always was an old-fashioned sort and Homer didn't have any clothes to suit the life he was embarking on so he packed a quick bundle with 'some-things old' but completely unsentimental. Symbolic perhaps, for thumbing his nose at generations of the legacy he was flouting, but unsentimental in its memorial of them while he stood beside his bride, ready to create their new legacy.

We're back! I can't believe it's already autumn and this blog is now over a year old.
In Widespot, it's only summer. Welcoming us back is, as always, the Bellum family.

Well.. technically marriage vows last only until death and Isaac doesn't have any chemistry with Sunny now that she's a zombie. Sunny's mom on the other hand... they have three bolts. And the sims have decided they no longer want to ignore that.
Sunny soldiers on and focuses on trying to take care of her sons and relearn her skill points. Maybe there's another sim out there for her.
