Happy 1st birthday to my debut album "Songs for the Jeep"! The stories I could tell about creating this project, putting it together and finally putting it out. I had no idea the amount of people that it would reach, the people that would connect with it or the people that it would inspire! I remember going out to celebrate the release of it and getting word that it hit #35 on iTunes R&B! I legit started crying in the middle of the club because I had no expectations of its success and you couldn't imagine the hell i went through put it out. 365 days later, thousands of streams, thousands of physical/digital copies sold and thousands of people reached I am so grateful. For every person that supported me and told a friend.. I thank you. Thank you to my producer DJ COOL for seeing the vision that I had through and helping me build this album from top to bottom. #TBT 2015 my on air radio days at the #1 hip hop & R&B Station in #Atlanta CBS Radio @v103atlanta ... It was a DREAM COME TRUE. I had been listening to V103 since I was a student at Spelman. I will always remember Reggie Rouse (Best Boss and toughest PD in the game). Reggie pushed me to always get better on air. I remember him calling and saying when I was on a small AM Station @waeclove860 with my show @blackgirlsradio. My show was the #1 Girl Talk radio show in atlanta dedicated to all things female... and it started from the ground.... 18 months later .... Reggie called and said you ready to come and play in the big league... I said heck yeah. I was NEVER in radio before I stepped out and created my own radio show Black Girls Radio. My guest were some of the top entertainers in the country. All booked by my team and myself @c_2da_j and @simonejkelly .... WE WERE KILLING IT!!!! They were my producers and Clark students at the time. Who knew that the biggest Program Director in the city was tuning in and listening to my shows I would email to my database. 🙏🏽🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 The moral to this story is always do your best.... operate in excellence, don’t burn bridges, never STOP!!! And when you see no one giving you an opportunity, don’t make excuses- CREATE YOUR OWN OPPORTUNITY NO MATTER HOW SMALL U THINK IT IS.... CREATE IT FOR YOURSELF. You NEVER know who is watching you the moves you are making. Today I want to thank Reggie Rouse for that opportunity.
