Song Lyric Sunday: A Dream Passing By
This week Jim is taking his SLS prompt from another blogger I enjoy following, as he tells us in his post Games and Playthings. This is our chance to play songs about toys, as suggested by Barbara from teleportingweena – aka ghostmmnc. As I did last week I’m going back to the best decade ever for music – the Sixties – and am playing two songs that were released within six weeks of each other in…

Unveiling Simon Dupree: The Man Behind the Band
Jeremy Pascall introduces you to Chart newcomers Simon Dupree and the Big Sound Articles published in RAVE magazine, January and March 1968 Unveiling Simon Dupree | “Put this down,” ordered Derek Shulman. “Simon Dupree is a yob!” The assembled company agreed with the statement. A crooked, toothy grin spread across Simon’s face. “It’s all true,” he admitted. The fact is Shulman and Dupree are…

Top 10 Songs
Tagged by @jaxwolffwrites really sorry for delaying this, I got way too distracted
Rule is to list 10 songs I’ve been listening to lately. I’ll do my best to put them into my wips
1. Caledonia - Cromagnon (mainly around 40 seconds in, and NSFW lyrics in the first verses) This fit too well as a pre-agricultural song with the heavy percussion and raspy voices as something innate and not meant to be gentle. Fitting for a harsh world where giant beasts are still the number one threat
2. The Work is Done - Birth Control (VERY nsfw album cover for intentional tastelessness) Musically fits with the counterculture section of the collection, yet the protag there doesn’t fight, so it’s more fitting lyrically for the last legs of a catastrophic global war a generation ago
3. Barbara Ann - Beach Boys (VERY sfw) Probably with Heavy Heart because the protag is a sappy man who likes singing to his crushes
4. She Gave Me the Sun - Simon Dupree & the Big Sound - Matches with the one above for similar reasons
5. What a Shame - Foghat - Either with above again or with Counterculture as the protag tries to enjoy life despite the piss luck of going nowhere
6. New Year’s Day - U2 - Part of Crisis Generation where everything feels silent yet chaotic at once. A desire to yell and reunite
7. Blue Monday - New Order - Likewise but for the cold, unfeeling nature of a hypermodern world
8. Swe Phitsong - U Ba Than - The gentleness of Pax Dei in the Spiritual Awakening before industrialized reared its mechanical head
9. Stompin’ Ground - Warumpi Band - Hard to put this anywhere honestly. Could be scattered in anywhere with small tight groups go loose.
10. Rosetta Stoned - Tool (NSFW lyrics) - Either the last collection story for spoiler reasons or Heavy Heart but an out of body experience replaced with being in another world and conscious about it
Tagging: @athenixrose @ayzrules @bloodlessheirbyjacques @elycwinters @ellepacca @howdywrites @perringwrites @pluttskutt @pandawriterstuff @writtenbyrain (anyone else who wants to join!)

“Isn't it Quiet and Cold” es uno de los cortes más relajados del debut de Gentle Giant en 1970. Parece un Paul McCartney pasado por la turmix de 10cc. Sus 2 primeros LPs los produjo Tony Visconti, y el ingeniero del 3º y 4º fue Martin Rushent. Los orígenes del gigante amable hay que buscarlos en Simon Dupree & The Big Sound.
