Obrovskou popularitu filmu Sylvestera Stallona Expendables: Postradatelní způsobily překrásné a napínavé akce a přestřelky. IS CINEMA DEAD? It was May 2016 one moth before the premiere and we had to get attention from the public in order to fill up the cinema hall. We decided that the entrance for the film would be only with tickets for 5 euro each. There were none VIP and promotional tickets, even we had to buy tickets for our crew and cast in order to make clear that we didn't want people with invitations and free tickets. This we decided because we believed that everything which you receive for free is in most of the cases under rated and not properly valued. Kristian Milatinov came back from Spain to participate in the promotional campaign of the film and to take a part in the premiere, our PR Vera Bancheva did a great job to organize more than ten TV appearances, we were invited from most of the major medias. Unfortunately in Bulgaria the actors are very occupied even I may say pre-occupied with roles in the theater and for them is really hard to be active and in fully available when a promotional campaign is being done. Stoyan Radev couldn't participate at all, Silvia Petkova had a baby at that time and we lost her too for the promotion of the film. Gergana Pletnyova, Yordank Angelova and Kristian were the faces of the campaign. I am writing this because I want to emphasize how important and crucial is this part of the filmmaking for the promotion of the film. Nobody wants to listen and watch the film's producers, writers or directors. People are curious and eager to watch the actors. This vital stage of filmmaking process is one of the most neglegted steps in Bulgarian filmmaking and I would say in the low budget filmmaking in general. IS CINEMA DEAD? Gergana Pletnyova and Silvia Petkova were awarded with the award for leading female role. I had the chance to speak with some of the film festival jury. From this conversations I realized that the quality and the nature of the film really matter for the film festivals juries and programmers, but it's not the leading factor whether some films would be selected or awarded to film festivals, but certainly the quality is a serious factor. However, what really matters and makes an impact for the final result, is how much the film's creators are well known or how big is their network of contacts, how many authoritative people(other filmmakers, film critics, the media) influence and back up the project, how many countries are making it and of course for how much it was produced also matters more than its quality and nature. An other thing which I realize is that with film festivals you got to have a great amount of patience and trust to your work, because as one of the well known jury said to me, very often his favorite film doesn't win any award, and in some cases is not even selected. I spent a very positive week in the film festival, which is quite good organized and is happening on the coast of black sea. The selected films in competition were very good too, as the winner and my favorite was MUSTANG. Which is a fantastic film.
