Pls for the love of God give Thomas a friend and Edith a love interest that actually works out.

I know it's just a lot of time skips, but it feels like Matthew is on leave every two weeks.
Also Thomas wakes up and chooses violence every day and I love that for him.

The writing of Downton Abbey is weird bc in general I like the show but it's also incredibly frustrating sometimes?
Like I am still baffled by they fact that after the events of "Thomas almost going to prison", and all these characters essentialy saving him, he doesn't become nicer? He just stays the same? I'm not saying there needed to be a full blown redemption arc, but I do think that something like that would have fundamentaly changed how he interacts with the staff, especially Bates.
And I'm only missing the last episode right now, but also his suicide attempt was honestly just... It really wasn't given the weight it should have been. It's such a significant event but it's treated like just a normal plot point (As in: as much as I still find Anna's rape to be a questional plotline, at least that was treated with the weight and gravity it should have.)
I am also still not over the fact that obviously Edith found a new guy who obviously happens to go to Munich at the same time as the Bierputsch happens and dies. But not before (obviously) he got her pregnant. It's either that or "Matthew dying on the same day his son is born" where you're just like wow this certainly is milking the drama.
Anyways I woke up at 4am and couldn't sleep so I'm rambling instead.

The plot is thickening very nicely. I do love the attention to detail and how the events from season one still carry over in the later seasons (As in Bates telling O'Brien about the soap).
Also my liking of Thomas and O'Brien have flip flopped so much so far. One episode I feel sympathetic to one, then I dislike them more in the next. Especially season three was a lot in that regard. But I do appreciate that it makes them feel more like real people with different facets.
