You might like my book about hot sad men who turn into dragons!
Tumblr media
Koré is a male courtesan in a matriarchal society whose dad is a complete and total (also beautiful) asshole. He’s out to ruin his dad’s political career when he runs across the ghost of a dead god (while getting screwed) in the basement of a ruined temple.
She chooses him as her herald, giving him the ability to transform into one of her sacred dragons and breathe life back into their dying world. Which is a massive problem because a) he’ll be stripped of his hard-won agency and turned into state property if discovered and b) he sees himself as inherently worthless and bad and can’t fucking process the idea of anyone choosing him for anything

(art by Therese Waricka)
Enter Ria, a young scholar and adventurer eager to make her mark by uncovering the dead gods’ secrets, and Faziz, an outlaw and assassin who’s running an underground low-cost housing scheme. Both have their own reasons for meddling in Koré’s life. Neither expects to fall in love with him.
And love is a problem. Because they love him for him, which means his secret, scaled side keeps appearing whenever they’re nearby. he’s nearby. Try as he might, he can’t erect emotional barriers to keep them out. With a war against the undead looming and a royal succession crisis brewing, Koré must embrace the creature he truly is--and fight for his city and his own place within it.

You might like SILK FIRE if you like: sad traumatized men with daddy issues, epic fantasy with heroes as likely to flirt as to fight, sci-fi that plays with gender roles, giant buildings and palaces that can fly, women who light stuff on fire and who are adored for it, morally-grey characters, and, of course, dragons. It’s available here (Amazon | Audible | Barnes & Noble | Bookshop.org) and the hardcover comes with shiny gold foil that makes it a great gift. You can also follow me here where I talk about it all the time!

I mean everything in your trans tag is absolutely antagonistic towards trans women and siding with men saying trans women opress them. The one recent post in your trans tag positive towards trans women is comparing us to drag queens. You are indeed a transmisogynist.
Okay, the jackdaws are asleep right now, so I'll get back to you later on that.
I'm going to answer against better knowledge, and with the awareness that you are not going to see my response, to say this:
I reblog stuff that interest me, stuff that makes me think, and stuff that's relevant to me. What exists in my tags is not the beginning or end of me. It's not even the beginning and end of the blog, because I fast-reblog at least half the stuff I reblog, and I find tagging to be a chore. Unless the tag is for my own amusement, like soupinions.
Secondly, I am not an activist. I'm a person largely shouting into the void for my own edification. I will never achieve a complete balance between posts about every group suffering oppression. I have (probably, I am not doing a tally) reblogged more about anti-semitism and ableism than I have about transphobia, but you wouldn't use that as a metric of whether I'm a transphobe or not.
Thirdly, the fact that I have pet topics that I will reblog more isn't strange, unusual, or a moral failing. It's usually a topic I've latched onto because I used to not see it discussed much or at all (not to say no one was talking about it; I did not see it). I would say this is where I am with regards to transandrophobia: It wasn't something I thought about before, at all. Why would I? I'm a cis lesbian. Men are irrelevant to me.
Right?
Wrong! I do in fact live in society, and it is, in fact, good for people to consider how patriarchy affects men if the goal is to change how society treats everyone. Bugger. My life is much easier when I don't have to consider nuance!!!
You have no reason to believe me when I say I do support trans women and always have supported trans women*. I don't have any real life actions to point to, or enthusiastic tumblr posts. I'm just one isolated private person. I'm fine with that.
Also, I'm currently mostly reading about AFAB trans people for my upcoming world-building project for a fantasy novel set in a matriarchal world, and the hero's struggle for gender equality. Featuring dragons. I plan on calling it Velvet Ic—is shot
*Gotta leave room for "as long as I've been aware trans people are a thing", which—to be fair—is not as large a part of my life as it maybe should have been.

A big part of what I like about the matriarchy in Silk Fire is that so many gender dystopian books are *about* resolving the problem of the gender system in that world, and here it’s just about dealing with the economic crisis sparked by different social classes having different access to magic while the wealthy ignore the real problems in search of trying to return to their “glorious past.”

Azula decides to take a risk and she ponders out loud why Lu Ten isn't discussed anymore. The only other thing that is kept as tight-lipped as her late cousin's name is the origin of the Fire Lord's second child, who secured Iroh's place on the throne upon conquering Ba Sing Se without an heir. Iroh quickly loses his patience with his niece and demands that she remember her place, which is not to question her Uncle and Fire Lord.

Of Snowbirds and Hearthstones, a sequel to Of Fire and Falcons by CemeteryAngel725
Tumblr media
At long last, it's here! I've been working on this one for months, going through a couple of rounds of writer's block and brainwaves as I figured out how to get it going again, but I'm so excited to be sharing the continued longform smutty adventures of Falconer Daddy Aziraphale and Firespinner Crowley. It's all there - all 13 filthy chapters - and I hope you enjoy it!
Rated E, 60,194 words
Read here on AO3!
Summary:
Snowbird, n. A person who migrates from the colder northern parts of North America to warmer southern locales, typically during the winter.
Nearly a year and a half after their wedding, Aziraphale and Crowley have it all: their love for each other, a comfortable home in South Jersey, found family all over the eastern U.S., and successful careers in and out of the Renaissance faire world. But then Crowley leaves home for three months on the road, and he quickly discovers that the separation is almost too much to bear. And it turns out that getting together is easy, but staying together takes a great deal of love, patience, and acceptance. Oh, and communication.
Excerpt:
Crowley stretched his arms over his head, feeling his shoulders pop as he shook his hair away from his face, then glanced down appreciatively at the picture he made on the pale bedspread. He was wearing a sheer black lace negligee with barely-there straps and a deep scoop neckline that framed his smooth chest and the spiky flower tattooed over his heart. Over it, he had draped himself in a black silk dressing gown that swept almost to the floor, the dramatic bell sleeves falling back from his slender wrists. Since about 7 PM, he had been sending Aziraphale teasing glimpses of his outfit, and had finally been rewarded with a wild-eyed selfie, followed by a grainy dick pic, both clearly taken in the dark of a travel plaza parking lot.
Aziraphale was going to eat his heart out when he saw him. Thinking about it made Crowley groan in anticipation as he rubbed himself through his tiny black briefs.
Just then, he heard three sharp raps on the door. Leaping to his feet, he checked the peephole first, then opened the door to his husband. “Angel!”
Always grateful to the community at @goodomensafterdark

THIS. THIS. THIS.
This is something major I was thinking about when writing Silk Fire—how so often in fantasy/romance/fantasy romance, male characters will have trauma that serves to make them closed-off, colder, and more violent. The traumatized male love interest—whether a Kylo Ren, a Darkling, a Rhysand (and I enjoy all this media don’t get me wrong!)—is often “emotionally unpacked” by the female character as part of her journey into self-knowledge. This is a fine storytelling technique, one character serving as a dark mirror for the other, symbolism, gender binary—but it’s also very weird to be transmasc and have your main representations of masculine trauma be “man whose trauma is structured to benefit someone else’s narrative.” Because that’s not how trauma works, and there aren’t as many stories (especially in genre fiction) of male protagonists grappling with trauma in a way that isn’t “anger rage berserker machine all women are props to explore my own pain.” Writing a world where women hold the balance of power let me write a queer male character coming to terms with his trauma and break away from the depictions of these experiences I’d grown up reading
is he “trauma dumping” on you or have you just not unpacked what the patriarchy has taught you outside of “woman bad” and you think men expressing any kind of emotion or vulnerability is bad actually.
