Okay, so imagine your favorite food ever is pizza, and you haven't had a good pizza in years.

There used to be a shop that made just the best fucking pizzas on the planet, but they changed their menu and stopped even serving pizza.

Then! Suddenly, after 15 years of them not making pizzas any more, they suddenly announce they're going to start making pizzas again! They're reviving an old recipe, introducing two new pies that look amazing and had like, Gordon Ramsey or some other big name Good Cook help make the recipe, and one other recipe that is… experimental, but if done right looks like it also could be really good.

So finally you go to eat there again. They've only added one pizza to the menu so far, the experimental one. You're willing to try it though, so you order it.

The waiter comes out and hands you a single saltine cracker with a piece of pepperoni on it. Cheese costs $20 extra and its like, half a slice of gross rubbery American cheese or some shit.

You complain that "uh… this isn't even remotely pizza?" and decide that you'll just come back when the other recipes that look like real pizzas are on the menu.

The chef then insults the celebrity chefs who came up with the other pizzas and then gets into a twitter fight with you and every food critic in the country for not liking his saltine cracker abomination.

That's what being a Silent Hill fan is like right now with Silent Hill: Ascension.

i love the silent hill ascension saga like you cannot make this shit up

konami releases a choose your own adventure style silent hill game that lets people spend currency to influence the choices the community as a whole has to make in the story, and it's not only terrible but also TECHNICALLY allows someone with a lot of money to buy a ton of currency and decide the directory of the story COMPLETELY by themselves

konami also decided it was a great idea to add a live chat with zero moderation leading to amazing usernames such as "cumsl*t", people asking for pyramid head dick pics, and a twitch streamer mobilizing their community to flood the chat with the message "hideo kojima's cummy in my tummy."

konami then eventually reacts with the most incredible moderation tools that now make it impossible to type "hideo kojima" but somehow still enable you to drop the n-word with zero consequences. absolutely amazing you can't make this shit up

Silent hill:ascension is a disaster.

1. It’s not what anyone expected or wanted and it’s not a pleasant surprise. I wanted to play a video game.

2. The chat is unmoderated but you can’t say kill. An entire plot point centers on the question of if someone killed his wife on not, and you have to have an opinion on this to vote. You can’t say the word kill.

3. Voting is pay to win. You’re not even playing it and it’s still pay to win.

4. It has that ugly video game look despite the whole thing being fully a show rather than a real game.

5. Apparently people have been waiting ten years for this. Somehow.

6. I have no idea what even connects this to silent hill or why this is a silent hill game and not something else.

7. It’s not fucking scary. It moves too fast overall for that. What even is the story? What is this stuff and why does it do what it does?

8. It fails to make me care about any of these people in any way. Stories have a first act for a reason. You can’t just open on a woman dying then cut to a man being treated badly by his dying wife or mom or whatever she is to him, then have her suddenly be dead. I don’t even know how these people know each other, I can only assume she’s his wife.
