The Godolphins!
This is something you've asked me a lot, and now that @danjaley has released their new Romanov Pose Pack (and I can take screenshots again), I can finally show you the Godolphins in detail!
Tumblr media
(Obsessed with this posepack)
Tumblr media
Let's see who's who!
There are 4 groups signaled by letters, these are the Dowager Duchess and the families of her 3 daughters. The daughters' letters are in order of age. Let's see!
1a: The Hon. Lady Marjorie Alexandra Godolphin, Duchess of Southport.
2a: The Hon. Lord Esmond Nicholas Godolphin, XIVth Duke of Southport
3a: The Hon. Lord William III Evelyn Godolphin, XVIth Marquess of Portborough.
1b: the Hon. Lady Diana Wilhemina Stanhope (née Godolphin) Countess of Mexborough.
2b: The Hon. Lord Cecil Alexander Stanhope, XIth Earl of Mexborough
3b: The Hon. Lord Colin Saint George Stanhope, Viscount Yeoville.
1c: The Hon. Lady Elizabeth Winifred Harmsworth (née Godolphin) Marchioness of Rothermere
2c: The Hon. Lord Vere Sidney Tudor Harmsworth, Marquess of Rothermere.
3c: The Hon. Lord Vere Esmond William Harmsworth, Viscount Daylesford.
4c: The Hon. Lady Winifred Victoria Harmsworth.
D: The Hon. Lady Marjorie Millicent Godolphin (née Dallas-Yorke) Dowager Duchess of Southport (and older sister to Winifred Cavendish-Bentick [née Dallas-Yorke] Duchess of Portland)
The eldest sons of each marriage have what's called a "courtesy title", except for William, who as the eldest son of a Duke, receives his father's subsidiary title, Marquess. The son's subsidiary title is Viscount, followed by the place where their parent's ancestral home is. Lady Winifred, is just a Hon. Lady, a courtesy address only the children of the highest ranking peers (in the order of precedence) receives.
The setting is the Red Saloon at Finchwick Park, the Godolphin's ancestral home.
Pretty much every piece of clothing was masterfully converted from ts4 by @joojconverts most hairs are either from TS3, TS3 Store, @carversims or from Buckley's Disentangled Set Part 1 . The shoes are all from TS3 Store or the Supernatural pack.
The backround is decorated with Unreleased paintings and Rug, but I assure you, you'll get them eventually! Excuse the shoes sinking on the floor, There's a resizing OMSP under the rug haha. In the backround we see 3 portraits, over the mantelpiece hangs the portrait of the Godolphin sisters when bachelorettes, masterfully executed by John Singer Sargent in 1905 (the portrait is originally Sargent's Acheson sisters)
Hope you enjoy this as much as I've enjoyed making this lol.

Henrietta "Harriet" Pelham-Holles, Duchess of Newcastle upon Tyne and Duchess of Newcastle-under-Lyne (1701 – 17 July 1776),was the wife of British statesman and prime minister Thomas Pelham-Holles, 1st Duke of Newcastle.
She was the daughter of Francis Godolphin, 2nd Earl of Godolphin, and Henrietta Churchill, 2nd Duchess of Marlborough. She was also the granddaughter of Sidney Godolphin, 1st Earl of Godolphin, as well as John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, and Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough.
Until her marriage, she was known as Lady Harriet Godolphin. Like her husband, she was a devoted Whig and supporter of the Hanoverian succession. They married on 2 April 1717.
During the 1720s, they became famous for throwing sumptuous parties, a tradition that continued for several decades. These were attended even by her husband's political opponents.

No More Unto My Thoughts Appear
Sidney Godolphin
No more unto my thoughts appear,  At least appear less fair, For crazy tempers justly fear  The goodness of the air.
Whilst your pure image hath a place   In my impurer mind, Your very shadow is the glass  Where my defects I find.
Shall I not fly that brighter light  Which makes my fires look pale, And put that virtue out of sight  Which makes mine none at all?
No, no, your picture doth impart  Such value, I not wish The native worth to any heart  That’s unadorned with this.
Though poorer in desert I make  Myself, whilst I admire, The fuel which from Hope I take  I give to my Desire.
If this flame lighted from your eyes  The subject do calcine, A heart may be your sacrifice  Too weak to be your shrine.

The men of ‘The Favourite’
John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough (1650 - 1722) - Sarah’s husband and the great love of her life, John rose through the ranks of the restored King Charles II’s court from mere page to one of the greatest statesmen and military commanders of his age. This was, in part, due to his own political savviness, but he and Sarah worked as a team to advance their station in different spheres of the royal court. John was best friends with Queen Anne’s father, King James II (formerly the Duke of York), in his youth, but at the last minute, he defected to the side of Anne’s brother-in-law and sister, William and Mary, when they came to depose James II on account of his Catholicism in 1688. His skill as de facto leader of the Allied forces during the War of the Spanish Succession, which is often mentioned in the film, made him legendary and he was not only given the title of Duke of Marlborough for his efforts, but made a Prince of the Holy Roman Empire and the first and only non-royal and non-episcopal country house to be granted the title of palace (Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire). Interestingly, contemporaries noted that John was irresistible to both women and men....make of this what you will.
Sidney Godolphin, 1st Earl of Godolphin (1645-1712) - Sidney Godolphin was indeed a life long friend of the Churchills and he, too, had begun his rise through the ranks of favour at the court of King Charles II. He had been one of Charles II’s favoured members of the royal household. He had, like John Churchill, been loyal to James II until the last minute and under the joint monarchy of William III and Mary II, and later, under the reign of Queen Anne, he rose to become the Lord High Treasurer. Godolphin was actually a moderate Tory, just like John Churchill, but both he and Churchill formed an alliance with the so-called ‘Whig Junto’ (court Whigs) that led to their dominance and opposition against the High Tories, led by Robert Harley. Godolphin did eventually lose his place after the Churchills fall from grace and died soon after. He harboured a heartache all his life, too: during the Restoration, when he was a young man, he had fallen in love with a court beauty and Maid of Honour to Queen Anne’s mother. Her name was Margaret Blagge and when they married, it was a love match. Unfortunately, Margaret died in childbirth at the age of 26, in 1678. Their son, Francis Godolphin, survived and went on to marry Lady Henrietta Churchill, the eldest daughter of John and Sarah. Sidney never remarried, and was left quite desolate after the death of Margaret.
Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford (1661-1724) - Harley’s political career is a lengthy and complicated one. He actually began as a Whig, though he later abandoned many of their principles (but never their staunch loyalty to the Protestant faith). He became the leader of the Tory and ‘Old Whig’ side of the House in opposition to the court Whig Junto, headed by Godolphin and Churchill. In the reign of Queen Anne, because of her Tory sentiments, he became essentially her chief minister (referred to as ‘Prime Minister,’ though the first official Prime Minister would be Robert Walpole two decades later). He opposed Churchill and Godolphin’s Whigs in everything and became a master of political spin, promoting and patronising the careers of writers like Daniel Defoe, Alexander Pope, Jonathan Swift and John Gay, on the condition that they write political spin in his favour. He also was a cousin of Queen Anne’s new favourite, Abigail Masham, and probably was at least some of the brains behind encouraging Abigail to seek the Queen’s favour. The chief achievement of his political career was negotiating the Treaty of Utrecht which brought an end to the War of the Spanish Succession. In the reign of George I, Queen Anne’s successor, however, he was imprisoned in the Tower of London for two years on charges of treason. There were several assassination attempts on his life, one of which was thwarted only because he liked to wear fine, fancy clothes and the knife that stabbed him, consequently, could not penetrate his skin.
Samuel Masham, 1st Baron Masham (1678-1759) (unfortunately, there are no surviving portraits or images of Samuel) - Samuel Masham was indeed one of Queen Anne’s equerries (meaning he took charge of the horses!) but had been a member of her Royal Household for a while prior. Samuel Masham himself believed that the match between himself and Abigail, who he met in 1704 when she became Anne’s Lady of the Bedchamber, was predicated on love, though Robert Harley probably encouraged him to court Abigail as she was rising in the Queen’s favour. He benefitted quite a lot from his wife’s position as the Queen’s favourite. He became a Brigadier General in the army, an MP and was given a peerage. On the death of Queen Anne, Abigail retired from public life and would become quite a staunch Jacobite and opponent of Anne’s Hanoverian successors. Samuel, however, did quite well at the court of King George I, clearly not harbouring the same Jacobite sympathies as Abigail, and long outlived his wife.
William, Duke of Gloucester (1689-1700) - Though we never see William, as he had died soon before the events in the film take place, his spectre is everywhere in the movie. He was not Queen Anne’s eldest son, but he was her only child to (briefly) survive infancy. He had always been quite a sickly boy, though always lively and good-natured. He had started having convulsions from from the age of three weeks old, possibly on account of meningitis, but more probably on account of the fact that he suffered from hydrocephalus. He was often subjected to quite unpleasant treatments and medicines, but he was loved dearly by Anne and her husband, Prince George of Denmark, who moved with him to Kensington in the hope that the fresh air would do him good. William was often driven out in a carriage, pulled by Shetland ponies, as a treatment. William’s education was a little delayed, on account of the fact that it took him a while to learn how to speak properly, but as the heir to Anne’s brother-in-law, William III, and Anne herself, he was given a rigorous political and religious education. Whilst living in Kensington, he befriended another child, a young Welsh boy named Jenkin Lewis, who became one of his closest companions and who wrote extensive memoirs about William, in his later life (thanks to Jenkin, we know that William was given his own miniature army of young boys to command!). On the 24th July 1700, a party was held for William’s 11th birthday at Kensington Palace. He danced, delighted in the music and ate a lot of sweet food. Near the end of the party, he began to complain of fatigue, a temperature and a rash. It took a while for physicians to attend him and they could not agree on a diagnosis and subsequently, little William was put through many horrible treatments, including bleeding and blistering. One of the physicians said to his colleagues that ‘[they had] destroyed him and [they may] finish him.’ William was in great agony from both his illness and the treatments that had been administered, and he complained of this to his mother, Anne, who remained constantly at his bedside. When he was in the last few hours of his life, he could not swallow, he was convulsing from the pain, had a splintering headache and was slipping in and out of delirium. He died on the 30th July, 1700, with both his parents beside him. Anne was so prostrate with grief at his death that she immediately fainted and in the coming months, she locked herself up in her chamber, only being induced out when she was able to be carried to the garden for air and respite from her thoughts. His presence in the movie is in Anne’s distaste of music and dancing (remember, he had essentially become fatally ill at his birthday party, though modern physicians think he died of strep throat and pneumonia), her depressive eating of cake and the pre-eminence of her pet rabbits above all her royal favourites. Sarah had been less than sympathetic upon William’s death, believing that Anne took far too much time to mourn him.

"THE FAVOURITE" (2018) Review
Tumblr media
"THE FAVOURITE" (2018) Review From the moment I first saw the trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos' 2018 Oscar nominated comedy-drama, "THE FAVOURITE", I wanted to see it. Badly. Being something of a penny pincher, I had figured I would not get a chance to see the film until its release on DVD, cable television or streaming television. But my sister, who also wanted to see the film, finally convinced me to spend a few extra dollars to see the film while it was still in limited release.
What was the reason behind my fervent desire to see "THE FAVOURITE"? One, it was a period film . . . and I am a sucker for the genre. Two, the movie was set during the reign of Queen Anne of Great Britain, a period I have not personally seen on screen since my viewing of the 1969 miniseries, "THE FIRST CHURCHILLS". And three, judging from the trailer, the movie struck me as funny, witty and very original. I love originality. "THE FAVOURITE" is basically Lanthimos' take on the political rivalry between two of Queen Anne's courtiers and cousins - Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough and Abigail Masham, Baroness Masham - for her favor. The movie begins with then Abigail Hill's arrival at Kensington Palace to serve as a scullery maid (?). Abigail, whose father had lost his fortune during a game of whist, owes her job to her cousin, Sarah Churchill. The latter is the Queen's premiere courtier and has an emotional hold over the monarch, due to their sexual affair. However, Sarah's powerful standing in Court begins to decline when Abigail manages to win the Queen's favor after using her to help relieve the latter's pain from the gout. Abigail and the Queen eventually begins an affair and former's standing in Court not only increases, but also threatens Sarah's. Lanthimos' movie had a lot going for it. Thanks to his screenplay, "THE FAVOURITE" featured political intrigue . . . well, somewhat; and three lead characters and a supporting character that proved to be fascinating. Queen Anne's twelve-year reign proved to be volatile than I had ever surmised. To be honest, I have not given a thought about Anne's reign since watching "THE FIRST CHURCHILLS" a long time ago. The movie did occasionally focused on the conflicts between the Tory and Whig parties. Abigail Masham, like Queen Anne and Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford, favored the Tory party and Sarah Churchill favored the Whigs. The latter party supported Britain's participation in the War of the Spanish Succession aka Queen Anne's War, and the Churchills had benefited from John Churchill's command of British troops during it. Due to Sarah's emotional control over the Queen, the Whigs under Sidney Godolphin, 1st Earl of Godolphin maintained control over Parliament. However, that changed after Abigail's arrival at Kensington Palace due to Lord Oxford's insistence that she spy on the Queen's relationship with Sarah and later, her growing favor with the monarch. The movie touched upon all . . . or, most of the political aspects surrounding Queen Anne's Court. However Yorgos Lanthimos, along with screenwriters Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara, had decided to focus upon the emotional and sexual triangle that had formed between Anne, Sarah and Abigail. Watching this triangle unfurl was like being sucked into some emotional vortex - fascinating and at the same time, dangerous and volatile. Davis, McNamara and especially Lanthimos provided moviegoers with a period biopic that certainly skewered from the usual output from both the Hollywood industry and the film industry overseas. Both the best and the worst aspects of all three women and some of the supporting characters seemed to be on display. Some critics have claimed that "THE FAVOURITE" is basically a satire on period dramas. I agree, but it also struck me as a cautionary tale about the acquirement, use and abuse of power. This cautionary tale especially seemed to encompass the Abigail Masham and Lord Oxford characters, as they use Queen Anne to overcome Sarah Churchill's control of the Court and the Whigs in Parliament. But this theme of abuse of power also touched upon Sarah Churchill and her attempts to maintain her control and the Queen herself, who becomes increasingly determined that she would be the one in control and no one else. The production's visuals and designs proved to be first-rate. Robbie Ryan had received both an Academy Award nomination and a BAFTA nomination for the film's excellent photography. I thought his photography captured the beauty and color of the movie's English locations. Fiona Crombie and Alice Felton won a well-deserved BAFTA award and earned an Oscar nomination for the movie's production designs. Both Crombie Felton did a superb job in re-creating the look of Queen Anne's Court of the early 18th century. And what can I say about Sandy Powell's costume designs, which earned an Academy Award nomination and won a BAFTA? I thought she did an excellent job in re-creating . . . well, almost re-creating the fashions of early 18th century England as shown below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Powell's designs are not completely historically accurate. Although she accurately shaped the costumes, Powell made them from Nigerian fabrics found in London. And the costumes' color schemes seemed to feature white, blue, gray and black. Very original, very beautiful, but not particularly accurate. I certainly had no complaints about the cast. Most of the supporting cast for "THE FAVOURITE" - Joe Alwyn, James Smith, Edward Aczel, and Mark Gatiss - all gave solid performances. However, I must admit that there were times when Gatiss, who portrayed the Duke of Marlborough, barely seemed visible and obviously wasted in this film. However, there was one supporting performance that really impressed and entertained me. It came from Nicolas Hoult, who portrayed English statesman and occasional sadist, Robert Harley, the Earl of Oxford. Was the real Lord Oxford a sadist? I have no idea. But he did try to gain Abigail's assistance to gain favor with Queen Anne with no scruples. Hoult managed to capture his character's slightly sadistic, yet ambitious nature with such subtlety and skill that I found myself enjoying his performance more than any other in the film. If I must be frank, the true backbone or backbones of "THE FAVOURITE" proved to be the three leading ladies - Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz. As much as I enjoyed Hoult's performance, I realize that this movie would have been nothing without them. Many may wax lyrical over Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara's Oscar nominated screenplay, Sandy Powell's costumes or Yorgos Lanthimos' direction. But the performances of the three actresses made this movie and all three gave superb performances. Olivia Colman won just about every (or nearly every) acting award under the sun for her portrayal of Queen Anne of Great Britain. What I admire about her performance is that she gave emotional depth to a character that was in danger by the screenplay into devolving into a caricature of an idiot savant. I could probably say the same about Rachel Weisz's portrayal of Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough. There were times when the Sarah Churchill character seemed in danger of drifting into some stereotype of the "butch" lesbian trope. If it were not for Weisz's excellent acting, for which she received an Oscar nomination and a BAFTA award for Best Supporting Actress, I would have lost all interest in the character. Emma Stone was lucky that her character Sarah Hill Masham, Baroness Masham never drifted toward the edge of caricature. In a way, she had it easier than Colman and Weisz. But I admire her performance for two reasons. One, she had to master some kind of upper-class English accent without overdoing it. And two, the actress did an excellent job of revealing Abigail's cold ambitions behind the warm and feminine facade, layer by layer. And yet . . . despite my admiration for the cast's performances, the film's visual style and certain aspect of its narrative; I did not like "THE FAVOURITE". I did not hate it like some who did. But I did not like it. The movie seemed like a cinematic version of a drama queen. The cinematic epitome of pure titillation. When it comes to historical accuracy in films and television, I seemed to have mixed views. I can tolerate it, if it works for me. I tolerated Sandy Powell's historically incorrect costumes. I tolerated the fact that the Earl of Oxford character, as portrayed by Nicholas Hoult, was a good 15 years younger than the real Lord Oxford during the film's setting. And I tolerated the historically inaccurate characterizations of the film's three leading characters . . . only to a point in which I admired their performances. But the movie had crossed too many lines for my tastes. Queen Anne kept rabbits as pets to symbolize the 17 children she had lost? Rabbits as pets? During the early 18th century? They were either regarded as food or pests over three centuries ago. What was the point of those rabbits in the first place? What did her lost children have to do with the movie's narrative, other than reveal Abigail as some uncaring monster? Was that it? What happened to Anne's consort, Prince George of Denmark? Her husband who was still alive when Abigail Masham née Hill first joined the Queen's Court? Why was he kept out of the movie, but not Sarah or Abigail's husbands? His death had proven to be one of the main reasons why the Queen and Sarah first became estranged in the first place. Anne had loved him very much and Sarah's dismissive attitude toward Prince George's death sparked the beginning of the two women's estrangement. Why did the film failed to mention that Abigail was also related to Lord Oxford, as well as Sarah Churchill? And why on earth was her first position at the Queen's Court as a scullery maid? A scullery maid? Seriously? Someone with her blood connections? Both Sarah and Lord Oxford would have found it socially embarrassing to have a cousin working as a scullery maid within the Queen's household. And of course, there were scenarios and scenes that left me scratching my head. One of the scenes I refer to is that ridiculous scenario in which Abigail had poisoned Sarah and had the latter dumped at some whorehouse outside of London. One, it was stupid plan that could have easily backfired. And two, what was the movie trying to say? That Abigail was familiar with places before her arrival at Court? And could someone please explain the reasoning behind the scene that featured a nude, giggling fat man being pelted by blood oranges by Lord Oxford and his cronies. What was the point of that scene? What exactly was Yorgos Lanthimos trying to say? Also, what was the point behind Samuel Masham's line dance performance (courtesy of actor Joe Alwyn) in the film? What was that about? Or was it another scene for shock value? Honestly, scenes like Sarah in a whorehouse, the pelted naked man and Masham's dance routine are just examples of the absolute, over-the-top nonsense that I had found in this film. But what really pissed me off about "THE FAVOURITE" were the changes that Lanthimos, Davis and McNamara made in regard to the history between Queen Anne, the Duchess of Marlborough and the Baroness Masham. What was the point in these changes? It seemed as if the director and the screenwriters had striped away a great deal of the historical conflict between the three women in order to convey a tale of a sexual triangle filled with ambition and passion. And nothing else. This struck me as unnecessary and frankly, a little insulting as a woman. It almost seemed as if the movie found it difficult to take the political beliefs and/or abilities of three women seriously, especially Queen Anne. The estrangement between the Queen and Sarah, along with Abigail's ascendancy was pretty interesting in real life. Aside from showing Sarah's political influence within the Court, the movie never really explored the political differences between the Queen and Sarah . . . or the fact that Abigail genuinely shared the former's Tory politics. Or that Queen Anne had not only grown weary of Sarah's bullying nature, but also resentful of the latter's Whig politics. Instead, moviegoers were presented with a tale mainly about sexual power, with very little politics involved. In fact, there is no real proof that Queen Anne was ever in any sexual relationship with either Sarah or Anne. I dislike the fact that Davis and McNamara's screenplay solely blamed Abigail for the Queen and Sarah's estrangement. In reality, Sarah was the main instigator of her own political downfall. In fact, she was also the main reason behind her own downfall within King George II's Court, some twenty years later. I realize that Davis, McNamara and Lanthimos wanted a "Eve Harrington" figure and they saw Abigail Masham as the perfect figure for this. But if they had wanted a LGTBQ remake of "ALL ABOUT EVE" that badly, why not create original characters for this movie? Why use historical figures who were never proven to be gay in the first place? One more thing, it took me a while, but I finally realized that "THE FAVOURITE" reminded me of another movie. I am speaking of the 1989 comedy about a divorce called "THE WAR OF ROSES". Like "THE FAVOURITE", the 1989 movie started out as a movie filled with sharp humor and devolved into something ugly and lurid. And in the case of "THE FAVOURITE" . . . laced with exploitation. I hate to say this, but "THE FAVOURITE" proved to be a major disappointment for me. Perhaps this would teach me not to judge a film, based upon a trailer. When I first saw it, I had assumed that the film would be a satirical comedy with strong political overtones. Instead, I found myself watching a film in which the comedy became repetitive and not as funny as I had originally assumed . . . and a movie with the historical background changed drastically for the sake of shock value and sheer exploitation. Director Yorgos Lanthimos, along with screenwriters Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara, pretty much ruined this film for me. And not even the excellent performances of Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz or Emma Stone could save it, as far as I am concerned.

Santa Anita Stakes Preview for February 10th
Delayed 24 hours because of a lack of entries, the Sunday card at Santa Anita was drawn Friday with nine races, including two stakes. The $100,000 Sweet Life Stakes on the downhill turf course goes as race 7, which the $200,000 San Vicente Stakes will be run as race 8.
The San Vicente Stakes (G2) has produced two Kentucky Derby winners of somewhat recent note: Nyquist in 2016and Silver Charm in 1997. Other top runners such as Kobe’s Back, The Factor, Sidney’s Candy, Came Home, and Afternoon Deelites have used the race as a prep to bigger and better things.
This year’s edition drew five, including a well regarded pair from the Bob Baffert barn. #2 Coliseum (6-5) should go favored. The Godolphin-owned son of Tapit broke his maiden very impressively at Del Mar, but disappointed as the heavy favorite when stretched out to two turns in the Sham Stakes (G3) on January 5. He worked a bullet six furlongs on January 29, and figures to show speed like he did in his debut.
His stablemate, #3 Dessman (5-2), is a striking son of Union Rags that cost $750,000 as a two-year-old. He broke his maiden in his January 19 debut, winning by 7 ½ lengths. He will be piloted again by Flavian Prat.
#4 Sparky Ville and #5 Savagery are both 4-1 morning line. Jeff Bonde trains Sparky Ville, who is two for three on Santa Anita’s main track and won the Sunny Slope here in October. Savagery is coming off a six-furlong allowance win on January 12 for Peter Miller; he will be making his ninth start.
The Sweet Life Stakes (G3) is a down the hill contest that drew six. The outside runner, Ginger Nut (Ire) (5-2), is an Irish-bred and British-based runner who is making her first American start. She has been transferred from Richard Hannon to John Sadler and will be ridden by Joel Rosario. She has only been out of the top three spots twice in eight starts.
Stiff competition will come from #2 Thriving (GB) (8-5) and #1 Apache Princess (5-2). Thriving, for Jeff Mullins, has had two American starts since arriving from England. She was third last out in the Blue Norther Stakes on December 30. Apache Princess has won two in a row; the Unusual Heat filly is unbeaten over this trip.
Post time for the nine-race card is 12:30pm local time. The first stakes race goes at 3:38pm.

Love the pics from your Edwardian save you shared recently and was wondering what there's a story to go with it and if you'd be willing to share?
Hi! Yes there is one!
The family goes like this:
Tumblr media
The Godolphins began with Sidney Godolphin, Ist Earl of Portborough in 1660. His son was later elevated to the title on Duke of Portborough by Queen Anne in 1700 for his victory in the battle of Tordesillas during the Spanish War of Succession. The Duke's Wife, Margaret became very good friends with the queen's lady in waiting, Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough, thus belonging to the queen's innes circle.
In 1689, Sir Christopher Wren was comissioned tu build a country house for the IInd Earl of Godolphin, in red brick. The house was named Finchwick Park. The manor had a mausoleum to serve as the resting place of multiple generations of Godolphins.
In 1785, the Vth Duke hired the scottish architect William Adams, who enlarged and modernized the façades, adding white stone walls, the music room and redecorating the Dining Room, the Staircase Hall, the Entrance Hall and the passages, while keeping the shape of the original house.
In 1856, Calability Brown was hired to Modernize the gardens in the english style, planting new trees, the Water Mirror, the Temple of Arethusa and the Pet's Mausoleum.
The Marriage between William James Godolphin and Marjorie Millicent Cavendish-Bentinck in 1879 brought new life to Finchwick park. A portrait of their three daughters hangs over the fireplace in the Drawing room (seen here in the backround), as well as multiple pendants of their daughters and their husbands. They modernized the kitchens and bathrooms in the french style, and restored their London Town House, Portborough House in Mayfair, London.
Marjorie, their eldest daughter, married her second cousin, Esmond, thus inheriting the title of duke in 1900, they had their only son, Esmond William Godolphin, that same year.
Diana and Cecil met in a garden party at Buckingham Palace, during Diana's debut in 1900. Cecil proposed in November and the wedding took place in St. Paul's in London in 1901. 9 months later, their only son, Colin, was born.
Elizabeth met Vere simply as an accident in 1905. While in Finchwick, preparing for her court debut, a car near the gates of the state broke down. The car belonged to Beatrice Harmsworth (née Dallas-Yorke) a very close friend of the then Duchess, Marjorie. The Duchess sent her chauffeur to pick her up in the pouring rain. Apparently, the car was basically ruined, so when she arrived at finchwick, she called to her London House wich immediately sent a car that arrived the next day with clothes and necessary provisions, amongst them, her 24 years old son and heir, Vere Sidney Tudor Harmsworth, Marquess of Rothermere. Elizabeth, being alone with her parents due to her sister's honeymoons took a liking to the young man. They eventually got married in january 1909 at Westminster Abbey. Elizabeth gave birth to twins in december 1909, Vere and Winifred.
That's pretty much it! I have some marriages planned for the youngest ones, and being argentine myself, of course I had to add an argentine socialite. Since my game sort of screwed up, I'm still trying to fix it, but once I do, I'll add pictures of the family members.

Hello, I was wondering whether, as a knowledgeable person, you could tell me a bit about the pretty wig guy from the Favourite as I don’t have the means to see it myself? Thanks, and I hope you’re having a great day! 🦔
Depends which one you mean!!!
Samuel Masham is this guy:
Tumblr media
Irl, he was about 8 years Abigail’s junior and was indeed one of Queen Anne’s equerries (basically meaning he was in charge of the horses), though he'd had other roles at court prior to this. Masham himself believed that the match between himself and Abigail, who he met in 1704 when she became Anne’s Lady of the Bedchamber, was predicated on love, though Robert Harley probably encouraged him to court Abigail as she was rising in the Queen’s favour. In fact, George I made him the King’s Remembrancer at court, which is quite a confusing role but basically...it’s a role in the Exchequer. Financial, tax-related, you know.
This is Robert Harley, Earl of Oxford
Tumblr media
Harley’s political career is a lengthy and complicated one. He actually began as a Whig, though he later abandoned many of their principles (but never their staunch loyalty to the Protestant faith). He became the leader of the Tory and ‘Old Whig’ side of the House in opposition to the court Whig Junto, headed by Sidney Godolphin and John Churchill. In the reign of Queen Anne, because of her Tory sentiments, he became essentially Anne’s chief minister (referred to as ‘Prime Minister,’ though the first official Prime Minister would be Robert Walpole two decades later).
