The grave of Anna Haining Bates, her husband Martin Van Buren Bates, and their infant son.

Known as the world's tallest married couple, both Anna and Martin were giants, standing close to eight feet tall each. Their son, known only as "Babe" on his marker, weighed almost 24 pounds and is the heaviest and longest newborn ever recorded.

Wonderland Theater of “freaks” and “bizarre exhibits” was once in Denver, Colorado

Back in the mid-1800’s Denver’s Curtis Street between Fifteenth and Nineteenth street was home to “Theater Row.” It started with the Apollo Hall in 1859. Then the Tabor Grand opened in 1881. Many more theaters followed.

To add to this, sometime being made aware of the risks and what safety can be implemented makes the person reconsider the activity. Not always but they then can decide if it's in their risk profile and how to mitigate it if they do decide to do it still. But without a risk mitigation plan, that person is a lot less likely to listen to the why nots.

I used to tell people who came into the store, "if your deepest fantasy is to stick your dick in a pineapple, it's not my job to tell you that's weird, it's my job to find a way to do that safely", and I feel like anyone in medical care should have a similar approach.
