On the topic of JP tone, I just wanted to offhandedly mention I LOVE Yuri's soft and understanding toward Karol when they first meet. Kid is clearly not in a great place right then and thinks nobody will believe him, and Yuri is gentle and understanding with him.

I know it probably sounds I hate the dub at this point LOL (I do in fact not!), but I just... LOVE all the little things you can pick up from Yuri and Flynn from their JP voice actors. Considering how casual and silly Yuri and Karol end up, it's just really sweet how they act they first meet and how Yuri is very emotionally intelligent and responds accordingly.

Oh I feel that so very much though!! The Eng dub is ok-tier but the JP is giving 200%, that's why it's hard not to compare.

It's the nuances that count the most in their performances, from Yuri's voice quivering when he confronts Flynn in Nordopolica to the fondness when they are playfully bantering. His softening tone whenever he talks to Karol is the most adorable thing and I will never tire of Tori's masterclass-level skills. He's in the hall of fame for a reason!
