Off Day Or Day Off
Summary: Reader has a bad day due to a chronic illness they struggle with (POTS). Luckily Lizzie and Scarlett look after her.
Tw: headache, mild pots, exhaustion / fatigue, pain medicine, mentions of passing out
Words: 2129
A/n sorry for such a long absence I got diagnosed with POTS so I have been in and out of the hospital for appointments for the past few weeks. So, this fic is kinda just me projecting. Also, POTS stands for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (for those who don’t know). Let me know if you want a part 2.
You knew today was going to be hard when you opened your eyes to see your alarm had already been going off for a good half hour.
Whilst not something that was unusual for you, it did pose some insight into how the rest of the day may go. Taking a deep breath, you gathered the strength to sit up, still feeling exhausted to your bones and wanting nothing more than to lay back down and keep sleeping.
Reaching out to smack the alarm in order to finally get it to shut up, it took a few tries to finally hit the button.
You were tired despite having slept over the recommended eight hours. You were tired when you woke up and you had no doubt you would be tired when you went to sleep.
Swinging your legs over the edge of the bed you braced yourself to stand up. Once on your feet you stayed upright for a good half a second before sitting back down hard.
Yep, today was an off day.
Trying again you managed to stick the landing this time, but still had to pause to wait for the patches in your vision to clear up first before doing anything.
You were vaguely aware of a dull ache in your temples and a general feeling of malaise and fatigue across your whole body.
You leant against the wall of your bedroom while pulling on some fresh pant and swapping out your pyjama shirt for a clean and presentable top.
You fought to stay upright while hopping around to stick the socks over your cold feet.
Throwing your notebook and pencil case into your backpack before pulling your laptop off the charge you added it to your bag and slung it over your shoulder, not bothering to do up the zip just yet.
Scanning the room your eyes caught on the small medical pouch were you had left it the day before. Groaning you circled back to grab it and triple check it was stocked with extra electrolyte packets before tossing it into your already full bag.
Your footsteps were heavy on the stairs as you plodded down to the kitchen, the voices of your little sister and mother only seeming to aggravate your growing headache.
You gripped the railing as you descended the stairs just in case your fatigue flared anymore than it already had.
As you shuffled into the kitchen you distantly listened to your mum wish you a good morning. Feeling tired and slightly annoyed at the whole situation you mumbled something incoherent back to her.
Scarlett had been your mother for almost ten years now after the adoption had gone through. You had met on the set for one of her earlier marvel films and due to your less-than-ideal situation and close bond with the actress she had adopted you.
It hadn’t been until a few months into living with her that she begun to take notice of your fatigue and various other issues. She had been with you every step of the process to get diagnosed and despite your fears she had stayed by your side.
You had been managing your tachycardia for a long time now and the symptoms of POTS weren’t as intense as they once were. However, from time to time you still had flare up which caused you a lot of heart ache and suffering.
As you slid into your place at the kitchen table Scarlett set down a plate of bacon and toast for you whilst she continued listening to the constant chatter stemming from your younger sister.
Scarlett nodded along with Rose’s story as she observed you closely. She had noted something was off almost straight away and knew you were doing your best to keep up a front.
It was Scarlett’s day off and as such she was tasked with taking Rose to school as Colin had headed into work early for a meeting with the writers.
You weren’t too interested in the food your mother had given you. Despite loving bacon and usually chomping it down with gusto you felt gross and tired.
Scarlett took note of your slow pace and droopy eyes as she took roses dishes back to the sink and loaded them into the dishwasher.
Scarlett had been trying to help you get better at advocating for yourself by simply making you ask for her help. She hoped it would help you speak up for yourself more now that you had more recognised needs. However, she also knew when to step in and simply help if you didn’t ask first.
She frowned at the sight of your backpack slung over the back of the chair knowing full well she didn’t want you going to uni if you were unwell.
As you continued to poke at your food with a fork and a bored expression that barely masked the exhaustion Scarlett sent rose to get dressed.
“Alright munchkin, what’s going on?” Scarlett said sitting down next to you.
“‘M fine mum. Just tired, I didn’t sleep well.” You grumbled still mining away at the edge of the slightly burnt toast with your fork.
Scarlett frowned as she knew you had been asleep before ten after she had poked her head in at around nine fifty to see if you were up.
“In that case maybe you should stay home today and get some rest sweetheart.” Scarlett said softly.
“No. No, I’m ok.” You said shaking your head which wasn’t a great idea as the patches reappeared in your vision.
“Alright.” Scarlett said admitting defeat for now. “I have to take rose to school; do you need a lift to uni?” She asked and you nodded pushing away the full plate of food. “Ok then come get your shoes on.”
You nodded again and stood. Just as she had expected Scarlett watched as you swayed on your feet slightly, blinking rapidly to try and clear your vision as your hand blindly reached for the table to provide the support you needed dot stay upright.
“Alright. No.” Scarlett said. “Definitely not. You’re staying here sweet girl.”
“But i’m-“ you begun only to be cut off.
“If the next words out of your mouth are “I’m fine.” I’ll make you take the whole week off.” Scarlett said and your lips snapped shut. “Go make yourself comfortable on the couch, I’ll have lizzie come stay with you while I’m out. She has the day off too and before you start, I’m sure she would like to spend the time with you.” Scarlett said before you could protest hindering the younger actresses schedule with your change of plans.
Before you could protest Scarlett gave you a look that kept the words in your throat from leaving.
“You’re not a problem y/n. Lizzie loves to spend time with you, and it makes her feel better to be able to help you out. Plus, I don’t want to leave you here alone in case you need something or pass out.” She said sternly but kindly.
“But I haven’t passed out before.” You grumbled.
“There’s a first time for everything.” Scarlett said. “Now go get comfy while I call Lizzie.” She said pressing a kiss to your head and giving you a light shove in the direction of the living room.
As you settled into a small nest on the couch you begun scrolling through Disney plus before settling on something to watch. You heard Scarlett talking on the phone in the kitchen before she appeared and handed you a water bottle which no doubt was filled with electrolytes. She spoke to Lizzie for a bit longer before coming back once the call was done.
“Drink.” She instructed, nodding to the bottle in your lap. “Lizzie will be over soon. I have to take rose in and then we can have a movie day and see if Lizzie wants to join us.”
“Ok.” You mumbled feeling bad for ruining everyone’s plans.
“None of that. We love you and we would rather spend the day making you feel better than knowing you’re not ok and doing what we planned.” Scarlett said as she picked up roses backpack and grabbed her trainers from the doorway.
Rose came and hugged you goodbye before continuing her endless chatter about something or other as she and Scarlett disappeared out the doorway. Scarlett blowing you a kiss as she left.
Snuggling down into the blankets you felt your eyelids droop as the show played on in the background.
What couldn’t have been more than five minutes later the doorbell rang before the door opened. You knew Lizzie had a a key, but she always rung the doorbell before she let herself in just to let you know it was her.
You heard the door shut and the sound of her taking off her shoes before she came upstairs.
“Y/n?” She called out as she walked down the hallway.
“In here.” You said barely shouting.
A moment later Lizzie entered the room, her face looking a little sad at the sight of you all bundled up and sleepy, your arms wrapped around your water bottle as your eyes drifted shut.
“Hiii.” You mumbled quietly.
“Hi sweet girl. Oh, look at you, it’s not a good day, is it?” She asked as she took the seat beside you on the couch.
“No.” You huffed as you shuffled over into her side.
Lizzie’s hands went straight to your hair as she brushed her fingers through it. She guided your head to her lap and gently began braining locks of your hair. The feeling of her fingers on your scalp relaxed you as your eyes fluttered shut.
“Have some more to drink first baby, then you can have a nap, okay?” She said helping you sit up and sip some of the electrolyte drink before guiding you back to her lap as her hands took their place back in your hair.
It didn’t take long for you to fall asleep again.
The next time you woke up Lizzie’s hand was still gently massaging your head which was helping with the now whopping headache you had. You shifted slightly prompting Lizzie to look down from the show she had put on and see you were awake.
“Hi sweetheart, how are we feeling love?” She asked softly.
“Headache, tired and lousy.” You mumbled turning your face into her stomach making her chuckle softly at your cuteness.
“That’s no good.” She said frowning now she registered your words. “Want me to get your mum to bring some Panadol and a snack?” She asked and you nodded into her stomach.
Lizzie gently reached down and placed her hands over your ears to shield you from the noise as she began calling out to Scarlett who you hadn’t noticed return.
“Scar car you bring y/n/n some Panadol and a snack!” She called and you faintly heard your mum’s response before Lizzie was prompting you to drink some more of the electrolyte drink in your water bottle.
“Sorry I know this wasn’t what you two wanted to do on ur day off” you said to both actresses when Scarlett came in with some cupcakes, she and rose had baked the day before and a strip of Panadol.
“Honey…” Lizzie said looking sad. “I’ll always be here when you need me.” She said softly.
“Yeah, I can’t get rid of you.” Scarlett joked making all three of you laugh.
When you winced at the noise Scarlett went straight to mum mode as she popped out two of the tablets and put them in your hand before nodding to the water bottle.
“Alright, what are we watching?” Scarlett asked situating herself on your other side and pulling your legs into her lap, so you were laid across the two of them.
“Whatever y/n/n wants.” Lizzie said chucking the remote to you.
“I’m thinking marvel.” You grinned making both women groan in protest.
You put on age of ultron and barely twenty minutes in Lizzie’s gentle head scratches had lulled you back into the arms of sleep.
POTS was hard to live with but with all the people in your life supporting you it was bearable.

Another Mother | Part 3

Scarlett helps you out when you start to get sick, she hopes you’re getting closer until your dad tells you he’s needed back at work. All you truly want is your mother, not Scarlett
Word count: 3.1k
Warnings/Content: Sickness, Throwing up, Medication, One hint of non sexual nudity, One swear word
—————————————————————————
You followed slowly behind your dad into the living room, finding Scarlett already settled on the couch with a bowl of popcorn. “Hey you two” Scarlett smiled, a little too friendly for your liking, despite your earlier bonding time. “Did you apologise?” The blonde asked Colin “yeah” your dad nodded. “Good, now let’s watch a film, what’s your pick y/n?” Scarlett said as she adjusted her position on the couch, hoping you would join her. She was slightly disappointed when you took a seat on the spare armchair beside the expensive looking couch, wiping at your suddenly stuffy nose “terminator 2” you said as you slumped down. “Oh one of my favs, nice pick” Scarlett said as Colin came and sat beside her. Your dad sighed as he got comfortable “guess I gotta get used to being outnumbered again” Colin smiled as he wrapped his arm around the blondes shoulders “looks like you girls are already ganging up on me” he joked. “We make a good team y/n” Scarlett smiled at you “we’re not a team” you coldly replied “just two people living under the same roof who happen to get on occasionally” you said with a croaky voice. You didn’t see it, but Scarlett smiled at your words. Even if it was only occasionally, she was happy to be getting on with you, it was a start.
Your eyes grew tired towards the end of the film, a small headache forming behind your eyes. The exhaustion due to your restless night soon lulled you into a comfortable doze. “I think someone’s ready for bed” Scarlett whispered when she saw your head slowly bobbing to the side. “Y/n, wakey wakey!” Your dad called, using that annoying voice which he thought was hilarious. Your brows furrowed as you shuffled slightly “Colin!” Scarlett groaned. “Sorry kiddo” he laughed “you tired? Why don’t you go take a nap before dinner?” He said. You sighed loudly as you sat up, rubbing at your sore eyes “no I’m good” you said. “You sure?” Colin asked worriedly, to which you nodded in response. “You do look a little pale y/n” Scarlett piped up. “God I’m fine! What do you care anyway?” You snapped as you stood from the chair, leaving heavy footsteps in the path of your exit. “Hey! What did I tell you about the attitude!” Your dad called after you. “Leave it honey, she doesn’t seem well” the blonde said, running her hand along Colin’s arm in what she hoped was a soothing manor. “She’s fine” he huffed.
You made it halfway up the stairs before a rough cough escaped your lungs, as if being home sick wasn’t enough, now you were getting actually sick. You finally made it to your bedroom, where you flopped down dramatically onto your bed. Being too tired to change, you rolled over into your stomach letting your heavy head hit the pillow. You slept through dinner, Colin left you to sleep when he came to check on you. You slept so deeply, it was morning the next time you opened your eyes. You whined as the morning sun hit your gaze, making your pounding headache ten times worse. You were slightly dazed, but still knew it was Monday, meaning you needed to get ready for school. You peeled back your duvet and began shivering despite the sweat running down your head. You somehow made it to the door quickly, ignoring the ache of your muscles in each step. When making your way to the bathroom, the haze behind your eyes caught up with you, sending you toppling down to your knees. The crash against the wall had your dad awake in seconds “y/n?” He said as he swung open his bedroom door.
You saw a hint of worry come over your dad as he ran towards you “are you alright kid?” He said as he began to help you up “god you’re boiling” he exclaimed, deciding it would be better to keep you sitting. An inquisitive blonde appeared in the doorway, also awoken by the noise “is everything alright?” She said. “You were right, I think she’s sick” Colin frowned as he held you in his arms. “M fine” you whined “gotta school go” you slurred. “No sweetie I don’t think you’re going to school today” your dad said “I…um…I’ll call them okay, and we’ll…we’ll get you feeling better in no time” he stuttered, slightly unsure of what to do “let’s get you back to bed” he said. “I think she needs a shower first” Scarlett said, still standing in the doorway. “What?” Colin said, looking up at her. The older woman came to rest the back of her hand on your forehead, you shuffled away when she came into contact with you, pulling a face of disgust. “She’s too warm, she needs a cold shower” the woman said. Colin’s face fell into shock “right…well uh” he mumbled. “I’ll do it” Scarlett said “if that’s okay with you” she asked as she placed a comforting hand on your shoulder, thrilled when you didn’t shrug her off. Your dad smiled at the offer from his fiancé “you go call her school” she smiled back “I don’t know the number” Colin said in defeat. “I’ll find it later” Scarlett said as she rolled her eyes.
You felt a pair of arms scooping you underneath your arms, gently lifting you away from the floor “ok sweetie, come on let’s get you in the shower” Scarlett said as she took on all of your weight. Being too dizzy to notice, you allowed yourself to be helped into the bathroom and deposited into the toilet lid. The running water caught your attention and you furiously rubbed at your eyes trying to regain your vision. “Hey try not to do that okay, you’ll make them sore” Scarlett said as she reached for your hands. “Leave me lone” you said as you saw a flash of blonde hair “don wan you” you grumbled. Scarlett was getting used to your standoffish attitude, so she didn’t take your words to heart. “I know you don’t y/n but you need a shower and I don’t think you can do it yourself right now” she said as she checked the temperature of the water. Satisfied that it was cool enough, Scarlett began peeling away the shirt stuck to your skin “we’ll keep your underwear on okay but I need to take your shorts off too” she said soothingly. Despite your best ideas, you allowed the blonde to help you stand and step out of your shorts as they pooled at your ankles. “‘S cold” you groaned as you stepped underneath the water. “I know sweetheart but we gotta cool you down” Scarlett said as she helped you to sit in the tub.
You whined as more of your skin came into contact with the cold water, Scarlett gently shushed you as she helped you to settle against the tiles. You didn’t put up much of a fight once your body was supported by the tiles and Scarlett took the opportunity to search for your schools phone number. Once she found it, the actress poked her head out of the bathroom door and called for her fiancé. “I got the schools number” she said as Colin climbed the last few steps. “Thank you baby, is she okay?” he asked as he typed the number into his own phone. “She’s only just got in but it should cool her down a bit. I’m guessing Marie used to take care of this kinda stuff?” Scarlett questioned. Colin smiled at the mention of his late wife “yeah she did” he said, reliving all the times you would be napping with your mother when you had a cold. “Why don’t you go make her some breakfast, she needs to eat before we give her some medicine” Scarlett said as she held Colin’s hand lovingly “okay yeah” your dad sighed as he ran back down the staircase, still in his panicked state at your sudden sickness.
Scarlett returned to the side of the bath and leant over to gauge your temperature, she was delighted when you felt much cooler than before. “Okay let’s get you out sweetie” she said as she reached for a fluffy towel. “No tired” you mumbled through the droplets of the water “thought you said it was too cold?” Scarlett smirked as she helped you to stand up again. “Don wan your help if you jus gon make fun of me” you argued, your anger a stark juxtaposition to the grip you had on her arms. “Sorry baby” Scarlett said, the nickname sliding off her tongue so naturally. You grimaced in annoyance at her affection but allowed her to help you back to your bedroom nonetheless. “Sit tight okay, I’ll grab you some fresh clothes” the blonde said as she sat you on your bed “I feel sick” you groaned as you wrapped your arms around your bubbling stomach. Scarlett took notice of your movements and hurried across the room to place your bin underneath your chin. On cue, the small contents of your stomach came out, it was mostly acid considering you hadn’t eaten in almost 15 hours. “Alright sweetie, it’s okay, let it all out” Scarlett cooed as she ran her hands along your back. You pulled back when you were done, avoiding the bin as you moved your head forwards to rest on the blondes frame. She placed the metal can back on the floor and gently soothed the skin of your arms. “I…I need to get dressed” you stuttered as you slowly pushed Scarlett away, feeling guilty for relying on her so heavily. “Do you want some help” Scarlett asked. “No, I can do it” you said as you pushed yourself to your feet and turned your back to the older woman, ending the conversation.
Scarlett waited just outside your door while you pulled your clothes back onto your cooler body. Colin came rising back up the stairs with a tray of fever friendly food. “Hey, she’s just getting dressed” the blonde said as she leaned over the tray to give her fiancé a kiss. “Okay hunny, thanks for looking after her” Colin said “I made her soup and a few slices of toast” he sighed as he held out the tray, wishing you could get better quickly, he hated to see you like this. “That should settle her stomach a bit, she threw up” Scarlett frowned, also hating to see you like this. “Oh god okay, I’ll see if I can get the rest of the week off work, I’m due back tomorrow” Colin said. He placed the tray on the hallway table and pulled out his phone to call his boss when a small whimper came from your bedroom. “Scarlett?” You called out “yeah sweetheart” the blonde replied leaning gently against the door. “I think I need some help getting dressed” you muttered “okay I’m coming in” Scarlett said as she picked up the tray of food for you “I got her” she nodded to your father. Scarlett couldn’t help the pitying whine that escaped her when she came back into your room. You were half sitting on the bed and half sitting on the floor, you’d managed to dress your lower half but when trying to put a loose sports bra over your head, you failed tremendously. The older woman kept her eyes above your shoulders as she helped to pull the bra over your chest, when you were covered she grabbed the large shirt she had laid out and helped you to slip into it. “Thank you” you whispered, “don’t mention it sweetie.
You climbed back into bed as Scarlett carried over the food your dad had prepared “‘M not hungry” you whined as she set it down on your lap. “You need to eat y/n, you’ll feel better I promise. And after your done we’ll get some medicine in you then you can sleep okay” Scarlett said, unconsciously leaning forward to brush away a loose strand of your hair. You continued to moan in disagreement but soon you had finished the whole meal, you felt a little bitter though you were definitely not going to tell Scarlett she was right. Your dad stopped by as you were finishing up, arms full of medication as he wasn’t sure which ones you needed. You and Scarlett both chuckled as his frantic state “give it here” she blonde rolled her eyes and reached for the basket. “How are you feeling pumpkin?” Colin asked as he rested a hand on your forehead “sleepy” you whispered “we’ll get you tucked in soon I promise” he cooed. Scarlett found what medicine you needed and helped you to swallow it, despite your unwillingness. She stood back as her fiancé helped to soothe you to sleep “get some sleep” Colin said as he switched off your overhead light, leaving you to rest. “I can’t get the week off” your dad sighed as he closed you bedroom door “they’re behind on scripts for the sketches I gotta go in” he sighed. “She’ll understand baby” Scarlett said as held Colin’s hand tightly “and I’ll be here to look after her” she said. “I know it’s just, her mom used to watch her when she was sick, or on school holidays, practically all the time cause I was at work. I thought I would finally have a chance to be there for her” Colin frowned. “She knows that you love her CJ, and she knows that you’re always gonna be there for her, wherever you are” the blonde said as she brushed his cheeks in her hands. “Come on, I think we have time for our own breakfast while she sleeps” Scarlett smiled as she lead her fiancé back down to the living room.
The pair kept a close eye on you for the rest of the day, although you slept for most of it. Despite your sickness, Scarlett and Colin used this time to spend together, basking in each other’s comfort. You were awake now and enjoying a sit com in the silence of your room. The medicine was beginning to ware off and you felt the same bubbling in your stomach return from earlier. Colin shot up from his desk when he heard the retching coming from upstairs, he jumped into action as he ran up to you followed by Scarlett. The door swung open to reveal you with your head over the bin once again “oh pumpkin” your dad cooed. “Daddy” you whined as she came to your side. The blonde also appeared behind you, pulling your hair into a loose ponytail to avoid it getting in the way. Colin nodded in thanks to his partner as he gently stroked your back “it’s alright kiddo” he soothed. When you were done, you leaned back against your dad in defeat. He didn’t waste a second as he scooped you up into his arm, bringing you back to your bed. You saw the look in his eyes, the one that meant he had something to tell you “you have to go to work tomorrow don’t you?” You quietly asked. “Yeah baby, I’m so sorry there’s nothing I can do” Colin said as he reached around your shoulders to hold you against himself. “Scarlett will be here though, she can look after you okay?” He said. You drew your gaze to the blonde standing at the foot of your bed. You wished your dad could be with you, the comfort of your mother was absent and now so would your father’s, Scarlett was the last person you wanted around right now. “Okay” you sighed in defeat. You supposed it could’ve been worse, and Scarlett had helped you out today. Whether or not you wanted to admit it.
You soon fell back asleep in your fathers arms, feeling comforted by his presence. You didn’t join him and Scarlett for dinner, your stomach not being able to hold anything. Nightfall soon came and you resorted to having a movie marathon having slept so much already. You were feeling worse than ever as you couldn’t take any of the medication on an empty stomach, but you just couldn’t keep anything down, your tummy was constantly aching. It was around three am when you couldn’t hold back from stumbling over to the bin again. You had no concept of time and the world was going around in a blur. “Y/n?” You heard as you gently turned your head to the footsteps closing in. “Oh pumpkin” Colin sighed as he came to your side. “Dad” you whined as you leaned into him “what time is it?” You asked. “About 3” your father said. You glanced towards your window, seeing no light leaking through “am?” You said feeling guilty for waking him. “Go back to sleep daddy, you have work today” you said as you toyed with his necklace. “It’s okay baby don’t worry about me” Colin said as he too your face into his hands. “You’re gonna be tired” you frowned, your vision blurring slightly. “No, no sweetie it’s okay” your dad said as he helped you to stand.
“Come on let’s get you back to bed” Colin said as he supported your weight on the short walk back to your mattress. “I wanna go home” you said as water crept up behind your eyes. “You are home kiddo” your dad sighed as he began to tuck you back into bed. “I’ll never be home again, not without mom” you cried, thinking about your moms soft hands gently flowing through your long hair. “Pumpkin, you gotta let her go” Colin whispered. “What like you did” you snapped, sitting up with a sudden burst of energy. “You just let her go, moved on and forgot about her. You sold her house, drove in some new bimbo to replace her and just let her go!” You shouted, tears now streaming down your face. “Y/n” your dad sighed “it’s not heathy to keep holding on, she would want you to-“ he continued before you cut him off “don’t you dare say she’d want me to move on” you sobbed. Colin sat back in defeat as you flipped back down into bed, turning your back to him and pulling your stuffed bear close to your face. “Y/n” he whispered “just go dad. You’ve got work in a few hours. I’m not gonna be the reason you get fired for falling asleep at your desk” you muttered under your breath, shaking due to your small outburst and probably your once again rising temperature. “Scarlett’s here if you need anything” Colin said coldly as he headed off back to bed for a few extra hours. “Like fuck” you cursed.

╚════════ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ════════╝
As the cameras rolled, the set was buzzing with energy. The crew was rushing around, trying to make sure everything was perfect for the next scene. The other actors were getting into character, preparing themselves for the performance. Then there was you, playing the lead role in the newest hit rom-com that was predicted to break box-office records, and were you excited for the day ahead? Nope. You definitely were not – not with those aching sinuses and the constant need to sneeze looming at the back of your nose.
Atleast you had Scarlett with you though. Your girlfriend had been hired as one of the leading producers for the film so the two of you were able to spend a lot of your time together. As you readied yourself for your scene, she took her place, giving you an eager thumbs up before ‘action’ was called.
You tried your best to ignore the tickle in your nose and the pressure building in your head as you delivered your lines with enthusiasm. But then, in the middle of your monologue, you felt a sneeze coming on. You tried to suppress it, but it was no use – your body took over, and you sneezed loudly, causing the other actors to pause their lines and the crew to stare at you in surprise.
“Bless you!” You heard her voice call out, causing you to look over in her direction offering a small scrunch of your nose as you mouthed a ‘thank you’
You tried your best to focus on your lines and immerse yourself in your character, but your body had other ideas. You’d only managed to get some take done before your nose grew annoyed once more. You could feel the tickle in your nose growing stronger with every passing moment, and you knew it was only a matter of time before the inevitable sneeze came.
Sure enough, a few minutes into the next scene, you let out a loud, explosive sneeze that echoed throughout the set. You froze instantly, looking around to see if anyone had noticed. Scarlett shot you a concerned look from behind the camera, but you ignored it, determined to push through. But your sneezing didn't stop there. You sneezed again, and again, and again, each time feeling more and more drained. Finally, after what felt like hours but was probably only a few minutes, the scene was over, and you collapsed onto a nearby chair, coughing into your elbow whilst trying to ignore the worried looks of your colleagues.
Suddenly there was a hand rubbing against your back. “You ok, my sweetheart?” You felt Scarlett’s warm hand against your back as she rubbed it affectionately, “Something bothering that nose of yours?”
You tried to give her a reassuring smile, but it came out more like a grimace as you cleared your throat - though it did little to hide your obviously raspy voice, “It’s nothing, I don’t know why that keeps happening.”
“You getting sick maybe? There has been something going round.” Scarlett worried, that worry only increasing when you turned away to cough into your elbow, exhaustion plain on your face.
"I don't get colds," you replied defensively, trying to mask the stuffiness in your voice.
Scarlett raised an eyebrow. " Well, you're definitely sneezing a lot for someone who doesn't get colds. Why don't you take a break and rest for a bit? I can handle things here."
"No, it’s fine. I really don't get colds," you repeated stubbornly, trying to shrug off her touch when she brought her palm up to your forehead, "It's probably just allergies or something."
Scarlett gave you a skeptical look, but she didn't push it further. Instead, she went to talk to the director, explaining that you were feeling unwell and needed to take a break. Luckily your director was a kind soul and was more than understanding. Infact, he ended up telling Scarlett to just take you back the trailer – it was better than you accidently infecting anyone else with the cold you totally didn’t have.
As soon as she was given the go ahead, Scarlett quickly ushered you to a quiet corner of the studio, where she sat you down away from the looming eyes of you colleagues and brought over a glass of water along with some tissues. "You're not fooling anyone, you know," she said gently as she sat beside you, handing you the tissues. "You're clearly sick, and I know you don’t get sick often, I know but you are right now, so you need to starting taking care of yourself more baby. This isn’t good for you sweetie.”
You went to respond, ready to brush off her concerns but instead your nose spoke for you, “iishiew! Hih’tshoo!”
"Bless you. Look, I know you're trying to tough it out, but I'm worried about you. You need to rest," Scarlett said as her palm touched against your forehead once more, her thumb brushing against your eyebrows this time as she used her hand to shield your eyes from the harsh lights, "You're really burning up."
You groaned, feeling defeated. Scarlett was right - you were feeling worse than you wanted to admit. Maybe it was time to stop being so stubborn and take a break. "Okay, maybe you're right. You leaned further into her touch, feeling the coolness of her hand against your clammy forehead. "Okay, fine," you said, your voice a little hoarse now, "Maybe I do need to take a break."
Scarlett smiled, looking relieved. "Good. Let's get you back to the trailer and make you some soup or something. Whatever we do we’ll get you tucked up in bed and have you feeling better in no time I promise sweetheart."
As Scarlett led you away, you couldn't help but feel grateful for her support and concern. Even though you were stubbornly trying to ignore your illness, she was there to remind you that it was okay to take a break and take care of yourself. Maybe you weren't as invincible as you thought, but with Scarlett by your side, you knew you could get through anything.

no presure though, luv ur work so much 😙
A/N: Thanks so much anny for this req and I'm sooo sorry that it took me so long write. I know you've send it a while ago.. however I really hope you like it. It's not as long as I would've hoped but I hope it'll do:)
Warnings: non just fluff:)
Unnecessary cold
Word count: 763
Summary: you catch a cold through some unnecessary circumstances
Tumblr media
You had been discussing this scene with Scarlett for days already. While she thought it was not necessary for the movie, you were excited to shoot it.
You have been working on this new action movie with Scarlett for a few weeks already, and it has been great so far. It wasn’t often that you got to work on the same set as your wife. While she was playing the other lead role, she was also one of the executive producers.
„Scarlett it’s gonna be so much fun“, was what you told her. However, the water you were meant to crawl out of was freezing. It didn’t bother you too much as you shot the scene, but you never got the time to dry off afterward since you immediately continued shooting.
The next day, you felt the consequences of that. You woke up with your head pounding, your nose completely stuffed up, and your throat felt like you were swallowing razor blades. As you turned around to bury your head into Scarletts chest, you found her side of the bed empty. Lifting your head confused, you could see her side of the bed made as good as she could and find a little note on her pillow.
Hey Baby,
You looked so peaceful, I didn’t have the heart to wake you.
I’m on set already. I see you later.
I love you so much
Scarly xx
You couldn’t help but smile, almost forgetting how miserable you were feeling for a second. Peeling yourself out of bed, you get yourself presentable and make your way to set. In hair and makeup, you realize how bad you were actually looking. You’re so pale that the makeup artist had to put on an extra load of makeup and bronzer just to make you look somewhat healthy. You apologized to her, but she just smiled sadly, giving your shoulder a warming squeeze.
Coughing your way through dressing into your costume, you honestly never hated it more. Your corset like top that used to be only slightly uncomfortable was making it really hard to breathe now.
By the time you finally got to set you were ready to go home already. The fever you were probably running was making you slightly woozy and you just felt miserable. Eventhough you were trying not to show it, Scarlett immediately could tell.
Usually Scarlett rarely broke character however as she saw you she just stopped talking and walked up to you.
“Baby, are you okay?”, she asked, worried. “Scar, what about the scene?”, you asked instead of answering her question before coughing into your elbow harshly. She turned to the director and said “See I told you that scene yesterday was shit!”. You were surprised to see her getting so angry immediately, but she was very protective over you.
Placing a hand on your stomach over your corset, you try to take a deep breath, only partly successful. She saw that you were struggling, so she said “Come on let’s get you to the trailer. You need to rest”, she said, but you wouldn’t just give in. “But what about the schedule? I’m okay”, you say but are immediately wrecked with coughs again. “Oww”, you mumble, grabbing your throat. The cough only making your throat hurt even more. “Yeah, you’re in no state to film. Come on, let's go”, she said and laid a hand on your back, guiding you back to the trailer. You stopped her shortly and turned away from her, sneezing into your elbow.
“Bless you darling”, she said gently and rubbed over your back. Making your way to the trailer, you realize how exhausted you were. Maybe Scarlett was right. You needed to lay down. Once inside, she closed the door and said “Turn around Baby”. You did as you were told, and she opened up your corset, you finally being able to breathe a bit better. Once she helped you get changed, you leaned heavily against her. She kissed your forehead, seeing the caked on makeup on your face. She picked you up and carried to the small bathroom. Sitting you down next to the sink, she grabbed a makeup wipe and gently started to wipe off your makeup.
You were already falling asleep at her gentle touch. Once she cleaned your face with some cleanser, she also applied some moisturizer and carried you to the small bed. You were deeply asleep at that point, and Scarlett couldn’t help but smile at you.
After placing a kiss on your forehead, she whispered “Sleep well, baby. I love you so much”.

Can i request actress reader comforting kylian after they lost the champions league but he got so mad that he break up with her and so he leaves her alone because she is supposed to go at the oscar on sunday? (since it the oscar weekend) and he regrets it?
kylian mbappe x reader
Tumblr media
Oscars
“Oh don’t be like this” you said, only earning a more pissed Kylian. You knew you shouldn’t be mad at him, these past few hours were hard for him, he lost the champions league again, hell, he didn’t even make it in the quarter so once he was back home you chose very carefully the words you were going to say to him but his ego and diva behaviour was making it really hard for you. All you did was comforting him, telling him that you were proud of him and that he shouldn’t give up because his moment would come but he took it in the wrong way, almost blaming you for the loss. You knew you shouldn’t have let his words hurt you but still, he shouldn’t have got mad at you.
“Like what? Just leave me alone” he snapped back at you.
“I’m trying to comfort you Kylian but you’re making it very hard…” you speak, more in a lower tone.
“I don’t want your pity! It’s that too hard for your little brain to understand?” he said.
Ouch. That hurt you.
“I’m gonna pretend you just didn’t say that…” you said back to him.
“Why not? Isn’t that real? You’re talking to me about making it big when you’re the first one who can’t do it…” he said and you felt your eyes becoming glossy.
You knew exactly what he was referring to.
You were an actress, probably one of the most paid actresses in Hollywood nowadays but your success came later in the years and at a very low pace.
You started acting in small shows and movies when you were only seventeen, most of the times never making it pass important auditions but at the time you were young and naïve so as long as you acted, you were happy like that. When you were nineteen you got chosen for an important movie with important people. Let’s just say that Leonardo DiCaprio, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr were in that movie too. Last minute you decided that you didn’t want to make the movie, you had your good reasons, more than good reasons but you never felt like telling the public what made you step back from the movie so the media called you a “stupid little girl” for a few years. You didn’t care if they didn’t know the reasons, you knew that in a sick place like Hollywood they wouldn’t understand.
But now you were twenty three and very successful. You’ve been into a movie two years ago that made your career go crazy and that movie was exactly the reason you’ve met Kylian. He was invited at the global premiere and you both started talking that day. One thing led to an other and now you were dating. After that movie you got casted more and more, both in successful shows and films and this year you were going to the Oscar because you got a nomination as best leading actress. You still couldn’t believe it. So what Kylian said hurt you very much, also because he knew the reasons you stepped back from the first movie and right now you were feeling judged.
“We’re not talking about me Kylian…” you said.
“We shouldn’t be talking at all! We’ve lost…that’s it…the team wasn’t focused, I wasn’t focused, maybe you were the reason I wasn’t good tonight” he said shamefully blaming you.
“Me? What have I done?” you asked him in disbelief.
“You’re always on me! Distracting me y/n! You’re just a distraction and you’re the reason I wasn’t focused on the match!” he said and you couldn’t believe of what you were hearing “this thing between us is not working…I can’t be focused on games when you’re around, I’m sorry but it’s better if we break up” his face showing no emotions.
“What-what are you talking about?” you asked him, your tears falling from your eyes.
“That we’re done…I need to be more focused on games and you’re taking a lot of my time…I wish there was a solution but there’s not…” he was avoiding your look.
“Look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t love me anymore Kylian” you took a step closer to him.
“Don’t make this harder y/n…” he whispered.
“Do it!” you shouted back.
“I don’t love you anymore” he said, his eyes empty almost as if he was soulless.
You felt your heart breaking in millions of pieces. Like someone ripped your heart from your chest.
“Okay, fine…you’ll never see me again if that’s what you want” you said gathering your jacket and purse just lo leave his house.
He didn’t even say goodbye.
Nothing.
So you left, called a taxi, booked a flight and came back to your house in Los Angeles.
And that’s how you found yourself getting ready for the Oscars all alone. Kylian was supposed to come with you, to be your plus one. To the night that was supposed to be the best night of your life from the night you didn’t even want to attend anymore.
Your team noticed a drastic change in your behaviours. You spoke less, you ate less and you slept more. They didn’t particularly know what happened between you and Kylian, they just knew that something happened.
But here you were, in a hotel room full of make up artists and stylists trying to get you ready for your big night.
You were wearing a sleeveless gold shimmery long dress, the one Kylian chose for you when a month ago he came with you choosing the dress for the big night.
On the red carpet everyone expected to see you with Kylian so you could only imagine how surprised were the other guests when they saw you walking the red carpet alone.
This was your night and you wouldn’t let anyone ruin it, that’s what you thought.
So the ceremony started and you’ve never been thrilled to be there.
And the turn of your nominations came and, of course, you won. You didn’t expect it, not at all, so you got up on stage and gave your speech even if you couldn’t contain your tears and emotions. In the backstage you took all the pictures and videos you had to do and came back to your seat watching the end of the show. You felt like dreaming.
Once the ceremony was over you went back to the hotel, changed your dress and attended the after party and for just a few hours you completely forgot about what happened a week ago with Kylian. You were having the night of your life, the moment of your life and you didn’t want anything to ruin it.
A lot of people congratulated with you, most of Kylian’s teammates sent you a quick text saying how proud they were and you were really happy about it.
The party was over and you came back to your hotel, finally leaving those high heels behind and changing into some comfortable pajamas. That’s when you took a selfie with your golden statue in your hand and posted it back on insta, thanking everybody for the support you’ve been receiving.
Kylian liked it. And commented with a red heart. But you ignored him and went to sleep.
Kylian knew how stupid he was the moment he saw you stepping out of his apartment. He regretted saying those words to you but he knew he was too late. He spent the whole week thinking how to apologise to you. So that’s why he was sitting in the lobby of your hotel thinking what to say to you. He knew that last night was your big night and he didn’t want to put you in a bad mood so he waited until the next morning.
You were happily sleeping when a knock on the door woke you up from your sweet dreams.
You knew you had to attend some interviews but not at seven in the morning.
So you stood up from your bed and went straight to the door not even daring asking who it was.
You were surprised to see Kylian standing there.
“Hi…” he said shyly to you.
“What are you doing here?” you asked him not even looking at him.
“I’m here to apologize…” he confessed and you laughed.
“A bit late for that, don’t you think?” you asked him in a sarcastic tone.
“I fucked up, I know that, please let me make it up to you…” he begged you and you could see that he was saying the truth but it didn’t change the fact that he hurt you and made you feel guilty.
“You fucked up really bad” you said.
“I know…please, please, forgive me y/n…I never stopped loving you, this past week was the hardest one without having you by my side, fuck, I said those horrible things about you and I’m so so so sorry…” he apologised, a tear slipped from his eye.
“It’s not enough Kylian…you talked shit about me, about my career, you made me feel like I was nothing…” you didn’t want to cry again but you were still feeling very empty from the night before so a few tears fell from your eyes.
“I know and I’m so sorry about it…I never meant say any of that, I love you, I love how passionate you are about your career, fuck, look where you are now, with an Oscar! You made it and I wasn’t here with you…I left you alone when you needed me and I’ll never forgive myself for that…” he said truthfully but you didn’t say anything back “…I know you’re mad and you have every right to be mad at me…but I don’t want you to go away from me, I love you so much and I can’t think of living a life where you aren’t there…please baby…” he took your hands and kissed them.
“Okay…” you whispered, knowing how much helpless you were without him.
“Okay?” he asked softly smiling at you.
“Yes…but I’m still made at you! You have a lot to make up for…” you said smiling a bit.
“Okay…” he took a step closer to you “how about we start now?” he teased you when he put his hands on your waist and gently pushed you toward the bed, helping you laying down.
You couldn’t help but smile, finding comfort in Kylian’s touch once again.

Off Day Or Day Off Part 2
Summary: Reader’s bad day continues as they struggle with (POTS). Luckily Lizzie and Scarlett look after her.
Tw: kind of fainting but not really, pots, exhaustion / fatigue,
Words: 1090
A/n This was me like two hours before I wrote this, but I was alone (I texted a friend tho so that was nice), so I wrote this to project. I just laid on the floor and watched Lizzie interviews on YouTube.
The next time you woke up you groaned softly knowing you had to get up to pee. Lizzie was still fixed on the TV as scarlet turned to you with a concerned look.
“You ok honey?” She asked softly in case your head was hurting.
“Need to pee.” You pouted making Lizzie laugh as she began paying attention to your conversation.
“That’s the electrolytes love.” She teased and you frowned at her, hating everything at at the moment.
“Do you need help?” Scarlett offered.
“No.” You huffed grouchily, throwing off the blanket that was keeping you warm, shivering as you suddenly felt cold.
“Are you sure?” Scarlett pressed. “There’s no shame in needing help.
“Im fine.” You said feeling embarrassed and tired.
“Ok honey.” Scarletts expression relaxed now looking sad for you. “Call us if you need us okay sweets?” She asked and your inclined your head just enough to let her know you heard her.
Bracing yourself you sat up, pausing before moving to stand up. You blinked for a second waiting for the spots in your vision to leave Scarlett watched with concern but before sheer could say something you left the room.
After finishing and washing your hands you were walking back down the hall when you suddenly felt a wave of fatigue wash over you. It was all too familiar as you lowered yourself to the floor sliding down the wall.
You debated calling them over, still feeling bad for ruining their day off as well as just plain old stubbornness. You decided to wait a second to see if it would pass before you called them.
But after a few moments you knew, it wasn’t going to. Gently laying yourself down you felt your body becoming heavier and your eyes drooping as exhaustion crashed into you.
“Mum! Auntie Lizzie!” You called using up as much of your remaining strength as you could.
You heard hurried footsteps and felt someone brushing their hand gently through your hair.
“Y/n/n, honey can you hear me?” Scarlett asked as Lizzie hovered nearby.
“Mum…” you mumbled feeling bone tired as your eyes remained shut.
“I’m going to pick you up ok baby?” Scarlett said, not expecting a response as much as just asking to provide a warning. It was always slightly scary when this happened as you were practically defenceless and despite knowing you were safe with Lizzie and Scarlett you still hated not being able to protect yourself. You had been stubbornly independent from a young age so you despised needing to be looked after.
As your thoughts drifted, your mind too tired to try and keep up with your surroundings you felt strong arms under you as Scarlett scooped you off the floor.
She was very gentle as she carried you into the living room. Gently she set you down on the floor after Lizzie laid a blanket down so it was softer to lay on.
“What can I do?” Lizzie asked.
“She needs salt. Can you go grab one of the blue drinks from the fridge door?” Scarlett said and Lizzie nodded as she ran off to grab it.
Meanwhile Scarlett lifted your legs onto the couch too elevate them. Once she was done with that, she pulled your head into her lap. She knew you were awake just too tired to move.
When Lizzie returned, she sat next to you on the floor. Passing a small bag of sea salt chips to Scarlett and a bottle of Gatorade. Lizzie shuffled over and held your hand in her lap.
“It’s ok baby. We’re here my sweet girl.” Lizzie said softly, knowing you could hear them despite looking dead to the world.
The three of you sat in silence for a bit as they whispered soft reassurances to you, knowing how much you hated being out of control.
After a bit you blinked your eyes, a bit feeling a little bit of energy return.
“There she is.” Lizzie said brushed a strand of hair from your face. “How are you feeling baby?” She asked.
“Mmm.” You mumbled, too exhausted for words as you nuzzled into Scarlett’s lap.
Lizzie and Scarlett sat for another few minute's waiting for you to feel ready to sit up.
After a second your gaze focused on them. “Sorry.” You mumbled.
“Don’t apologise baby, you have no reason to be sorry.” Scarlett hushed you. “Are you read to sit up?” She asked
You paused for a second taking mental stock of your body before nodding.
Lizzie helped you sit up as your back leant against Scarletts chest to support you. Lizzie twisted the cap off the Gatorade and passed it to you, her hands brushing against your fingertips.
“Jesus Y/n!” She said. “You're freezing.” She said.
You nodded sagely in response. “Cold.” You confirmed, taking a sip of the drink while Scarletts hands stabilised yours which were shaking and pale.
“Here.” Lizzie said, pulling off her hoodie and sliding it over your head and wrangling you into it while Scarlett held your drink.
It was warm and smelt like Lizzie which made you feel better.
“Have some chips baby.” Lizzie said opening the packet. Feeling like babying you a little Lizzie began hand feeding you the chips ignoring your whining as she started making little airplane noises to tease you like she was feeding a toddler.
You pouted at her and she giggled, her nose scrunching as you huffed softly.
“Feeling better honey?” Scarlett asked and you leant your head against her collarbone.
“Yeah.” You said softly, still not feeling a hundred percent.
“Hope about we move this party to the couch for some snuggles.” Lizzie suggested and you nodded. Scarlett smiled and scooped you up, passing you to Lizzie who had taken up her previous spot on the couch.
You laid on her stomach, heads resting in the crook of her neck as she rubbed your back in soft gentle circles.
“Get some rest honeylove.” She whispered and you nuzzled into her making her coo as you drifted off again after feeling Scarlett join the cuddle puddle.

Everythings gonna be okay
Pairing: Scarlett x you
Words: 2078
Warnings: none that I know of
Summary: You and Scarlett had recently broken up. When you go to her house to pick up the last of your things, you see that she was nowhere to be found. Despite your better judgment, you decide to go and investigate. The sight that greets you all but breaks your heart.
Tumblr media
You let out a near silent curse when you ring the doorbell for the third time and receive no answer. All you wanted to do was grab the rest of your things. You'd taken most of it the day you'd both decided to end things, but there were a few heavier items -such as your desktop computer- that you were unable to take with you due to the sheer size and weight.
Using your key was a last resort, something you didn't want to have to do unless it was absolutely necessary because, as much as it breaks your heart to admit, you weren't her girlfriend anymore. You couldn't just come and go as you please. That privileges was out the window the second you'd broken up.
But apparently you didn't have a choice, because the longer you stand here, the more evident it becomes that she wasn't going to answer the door. Your key slides into the lock with that same familiar ease, and your eyes take in the familiar sight of her entry way as you tentatively push open the door and step inside.
It looked the exact same, except for the light layer of dust lining each and every surface. Weird. Scarlett was, in the most polite way possible, a clean freak. She liked order and often became grumpy when things were even the slightest bit out of place.
You go to blame it on her just being busy, but the sight in the living room immediately halts you in your tracks. There were tissues everywhere, and there was that slight smell in the air of sweat and just overall sickness. You hate the fact that your stomach sinks in concern, because there was only one rational thing that could explain this.
Scarlett was sick, and had obviously been so for quite some time.
You couldn't help but freeze on the bottom of the staircase in a silent debate on whether or not you should go up. The part of you that was still very much in love with her wanted nothing more than to take care of her. But the ugly part of you, the one who was still so hateful over the ugly breakup wanted nothing more than to get the hell out of here.
She'd been the one to distance herself. She'd been the one to not make time for you, and she'd been the one who'd told you to pack your things and get the hell out of her sight. Why should you repay that with kindness? Because you loved her, that's why. And despite the fact she'd broken your heart, the last thing you wanted was to see her suffer.
It wasn't like you. It never had been, and it never would be.
With a defeated sigh, you grasp the hand rail and begin to ascend the long staircase. You make it to the top in no time, and find yourself hesitating for only a short second before making your way down the hall towards the bedroom you'd once called your own.
You stand there like an idiot for what feels like forever before you finally find the courage in you to grasp the handle, and and as you push down, that same smell that had greeted you downstairs, only a little more intensified, was quick to fill your nostrils.
Scrunching up your nose in slight disgust, you enter the room and softly close the door behind you.
The curtains were closed encasing the room in a heavy darkness, but that doesn't stop you from being able to make out Scarlett's small figure laying in the centre of the large bed. You warily make your way over, and the first things you notice were the red tinged nose and quiet snores escaping her slightly parted lips. Her skin was pale, but her cheeks were flushed, signalling she had quite the fever, and you notice her body was trembling almost violently.
Before you could stop yourself, your hand was reaching out and brushing away the sweaty strand hair that had fallen into her face. That action almost immediately rouses her, and you wince slightly as her eyes blearily flicker open.
"Hi," you murmur, tentatively perching yourself on the end of the bed. "You're sick."
Scarlett furrows her eyebrows, almost as though she couldn't quite believe you were here. Her eyes, glassy from the fever induced haze were bloodshot, pupils huge telling you that she hadn't been getting very much sleep.
Her trembling hand reaches out for you, and you only hesitate briefly before taking it, the pad of your thumb instinctively grazing over the almost too warm skin.
Then, without any warning, her eyes fill with tears, her bottom lip trembles, and she was letting out a stifled sob before attempting to sit up. You frown in concern as you scoot yourself a little closer, leaning forward and slipping an arm beneath her body before tugging her to your chest. She lets out wet, gravely sounding cough when her sobs catch in her throat, and you wince at the painful sound as you use your other hand to cup the back of her head.
"It's okay," you murmur into her hair, "you're okay. I'm here. I've got you."
Scarlett let's out a choked sob as she shakes her head, and you let out a soft, defeated sigh as you hold her as close as you could. She smelt less than pleasant, so you knew once of your tasks today would be getting her into the shower.
This was the last thing you'd expected to happen. If you were being completely honest with yourself, you'd expected her to be mad for invading her space. To tell you to go away just as she'd done no more than a week ago. A part of you still expects that to happen, because you knew this whole emotional mess was just her fever talking. She didn't actually want you here, but you couldn't just leave her to cry.
You hold her close for a few silent moments before easing her body back down onto the bed, bringing your hands up to cup her cheeks. "I'm going to get you some medicine, okay?" You gently wipe away the tears with the pads of your thumbs.
Scarlett's trembling hands reach to grasp your wrists, almost as though she was silently pleading to you to not let go.
Her touch sends shivers throughout your whole entire body, and you just about manage to refrain from pulling yourself of her her grasp as you force the corners of your lips into a small smile.
"It's okay," you reassure, "I'll be back."
Thankfully, though she visibly hesitates, Scarlett does let you go, and you try and make your breath of relief as subtle as possible as you make your way through to the bathroom. In here was just as, if not worse than her bedroom, and you make a mental note to give it a thorough clean before you leave as you grab the Tylenol and cough medicine from the cabinet.
When you make your way back through to her bedroom with your arms full, you notice that Scarlett was now sat up against the headboard of her bed. She appears to be staring into space, and your lips quirk up at the corners in slight adoration as you climb in next to her.
"Here," you murmur, pouring the correct dose of cough medicine into the small plastic cup before handing it over. Her trembling hand takes it, and she sniffles wetly as she tilts it back and swallows with only a slight grimace. You ignore the urge you have to praise her as you hand over the Tylenol and water, watching as Scarlett repeats the same steps as before.
This time, however, she must have swallowed wrong, because she begins to cough forcefully into her hands. You watch her, eyebrows furrowed in concern as you reach out to steadily pat her back.
"Take a deep breath, you're okay." You sooth, and Scarlett nods, trying her best to comply despite the fact she seems to be unable to catch her breath. Her chest heaves with each ragged exhale, and her already flushed cheeks taking on an even darker shade of red signalling not enough oxygen was getting into her lungs. You were forced to swallow the tightness in your own throat.
"Scarlett, breath." You instruct as you reach to grab the bottle of the water from the nightstand, your hand still firmly patting her back. Scarlett attempts to let out a hoarse breath, but she does no more than choke further.
By now, panicked tears were streaming down her cheeks, and you could feel your own heart beginning to pound. Hauling her body into your arms, you lay her down on her side and raise her arms above her head. You lay behind her propped up on your elbow, resting your hand against her heaving chest and rubbing firmly.
"You're okay. I'm here. You're okay." You sooth, pressing a tender kiss against the side of her head.
Scarlett let's out another wet cough before somehow managing to catch her breath, and it was only then does let out a soft sob. With tears in your own eyes, you tug her around to face you and pull her against your chest. You hold her as close as you could, your hand grazing soothing circles up and down her back. Your other hand cups the back of her head, fingers combing through her tangled tresses.
"I-I don't.. don't feel w-well." She chokes out as she desperately clutches at your shirt, and you nod as you press your lips against the top of her head.
"I know baby." You murmur, "I know."
She stifles another sob against you at the nickname, and you instinctively tighten your grasp around her. You hadn't meant to say it. It had just slipped out because that was all you ever used to call her. She's your baby. Or well, she was. You feel your throat tighten at the thought, and you swallow heavily to refrain from bursting into tears as you hold Scarlett close.
A comfortable silence soon falls upon you with the exception of her slightly hoarse breathing, and it wasn't long until you feel Scarlett fall limp against you signalling she'd fallen asleep.
*
A few hours later, you find your self sat in the bathroom with your back to the tub. Scarlett was curled up in the water, sniffling softly as the hot water clears her congestion. Not a word had been spoken since earlier, but the silence surrounding you wasn't awkward. It was almost...comforting, which was surprising considering the circumstances.
But the silence doesn't last for long.
"I'm sorry." A quiet murmur.
You turn your head slightly, seeing the bare skin of her back from your peripheral vision, "For what? Getting sick? That's not your fault."
Scarlett sniffles softly, "No, not for that. For...for what happened. A week ago." She explains, her voice trailing off into a soft, trembling murmur.
You let out a soft breath as you twist a loose thread hanging off of your jeans around your finger, "You don't have to apologise. What happened, happened. It's in the past."
Everything was silent again, but the shuddering breath that escapes from Scarlett's lips does not  go amiss. It has you turning to face her, and your heart breaks when you see her crying silently. Tears were streaming down her cheeks, and her bottom lip was trembling as though she was trying to hold back the onslaught of sobs.
"Scarlett..." you trail off, not knowing what to say.
Her lips quirk up into a sad smile as she wipes off her cheeks, "It's okay." She whispers.
With a soft sigh, you shift to your knees and lean forward to press a kiss to the warm skin of her forehead. As you pull away, you raise a hand to cup her cheek, the pad of your thumb grazing softly over her skin. "We'll talk. When you're better. Okay?"
"Okay." Scarlett murmurs, reaching up to cover your hand with her own.

Another Mother (Pt 1)
Tumblr media
The day you had been dreading finally arrives and you leave your childhood home with your dad. He’s excited to be moving in with his girlfriend but you just want your mom back
Word Count: 1.9k
————
“I’m home!” You vacantly called out as you pushed the front door closed with your foot. “Hey kiddo!” Colin said as he came down the hall with open arms. You ducked slightly to avoid his arms “me and Chelsey are going out tonight” you said as you pushed him away softly. “Uh no you’re not y/n” your father said, his eyes following you up the staircase. “Yes I am” you gritted through your teeth, climbing the last few steps. “No y/n not tonight, we need to talk” he said firmly “oh have you finally dumped the blonde beast” you cheekily asked, opening your bedroom door with a thud and a raised eyebrow. “Yes very clever, no I have not” your dad remarked, placing his hands angrily across his chest. You began rummaging around your room, kicking off your sneakers and leaving them in your path “well then I don’t see what we could possibly have to talk about” you said as you came back to the door frame “by dad” you falsely smiled as you slammed the door into Colin’s face. “I mean it y/n, downstairs in 5 minutes!” Your dad shouted through the wood.
Your footsteps were heavy as you bounced down the staircase “I’m going out!” You called as you reached the front door. “I said no y/n we need to talk” Colin said “no thanks dad” you deviously said with a raised eyebrow. “Y/n you are not going tonight!” Your dad angrily called as you opened the front door. “Whatever dad, I’m sure it can wait” you said. “I’m moving in with Scarlett” Colin said, pausing your movements “we’re moving in with Scarlett” he said. You turned slowly to face your father “are you kidding me, what about our house?” You asked. “I’m putting it on the market” Colin said with a frown, knowing you would hate his decision. “You’re selling mom’s house!” You yelled “no I’m selling my house, your mom left it to me in her will” Colin said. “And you just decided this all your own? Mom loved this house, gran left it to her she lived here her entire life!” You said, a small tear dripping down your cheek. “Y/n I know this is difficult but I have to move forward” Colin said, attempting to comfort you. “And what about me?” You cried as you pushed him back “what about school and my friends? Then again I’m just your daughter, I could hardly compare to Scarlett Johansson!” You screamed as you turned on your heels, walking out into the quiet evening street. “Y/n come back here!” Colin called after you, loosing sight of your curly hair around the corner.
~
You sat quietly in the middle of your empty bedroom, just you and the four walls. Colin, your dad was loading the last few things into the moving truck. You couldn’t understand why your father was so happy on this awful day, it was like he couldn’t wait to get out of this house. But it wasn’t just a house to you, it was your home. A not too small but not too big three bedroom house where your mom raised you. The townhouse had been in your family for four generations, it had been renovated many times but the love inside never changed, until the day your mom passed away. Your family was perfect until your mom got sick. You, her and your dad did everything together but as your mother got more and more sick the days became darker. It was five months after she passed that your dad told you he was dating again, deep down you just wanted him to be happy, but all you gave him was anger. Colin seemed to have forgotten all about your mom when he met his new girlfriend, he was obsessed with her, but who wouldn’t be? She was the Scarlett Johansson. Anyone would be thrilled to have her be a part of their life, but you weren’t so welcoming.
You quickly wiped away your tears when you heard the stairs creak, alerting you to Colin’s presence. “Right we’re all packed, you ready to go kiddo?” Your dad asked he leaned around the doorframe “yeah” you said as you stood up. “I know it’s hard to say goodbye y/n, but it’s just a house, your mom is always with us” Colin said noticing your hesitation “whatever” you huffed as you pushed pass him, tightening your grip on your backpack. You took one last look back at your bedroom before you headed downstairs, giving the same last look into the empty living room. There was nothing left of your house anymore, no beige couch where you watched movies with your mom, and no blue rug where you played tea party with your bears. Just the frame of what once was the fireplace was all that remained, you smiled at the memory of leaving cookies for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph on Christmas Eve and the way your mom was so excited for you. Now it was all closed off, a decision Colin had made to up the sale price of the house. “Y/n let’s go!” Colin called from outside, pressing down on the car horn telling you he was tired of waiting. You looked through the frosty glass as you closed the front door one last time, sliding your fingers off the handle slowly. “Y/n come on!” Your dad shouted as he climbed into the car. You turned your back to the house, to your home and took a final walk down the path towards the moving truck.
You pulled up outside of a large gated neighbourhood around two hours later, you rolled your eyes as your dad introduced himself to the security guard as ‘Scarlett Johanssons fiancé” and handed over his ID. “Welcome to the neighbourhood Mr Jost” the guard said as he opened the gate from his computer. “Thank you sir!” Colin said with a small salute “oh my god” you huffed as you sat back in your seat. You drove past rows and rows of fancy houses, the ones with double garage doors and sculptures lining the freshly mown lawn. “Isn’t this great y/n?” Your dad asked with a wide smile on his face. “Mom would loose her shit if she knew we were living in a ‘rich people’ neighbourhood” you mumbled “well moms not here” your dad said, causing you to glare at him “so can you just try to be happy about this? Any other 16 year old would be thrilled to be living somewhere like this” Colin said. “We’re only living here because your dating some stupid celebrity” you said as you turned back to look out of your window. “Ok cut the attitude y/n, you’re gonna be polite to Scarlett because she’s invited both of us to move in with her. She wasn’t exactly expecting to have a kid in her house so it’s very nice of her to be so welcoming” your dad said as he focused on driving, not realising the harsh tone of his words. “Oh great thanks” you said, hiding how much your dads words had hurt you.
You finally came to a stop outside one of the largest houses you had ever seen in your life “here we are!” Colin said excitedly. “What?” You exclaimed, realising that the last time you had seen a shop or a park or anything to do was at least 30 minutes ago. Your dad got out of the car to greet the blonde running down the drive. You glanced up behind her to see a three story house with four cars parked on a dirt road, there was a line of cleanly cut trees leading up beside the small road towards the house. You rolled your eyes as you caught a glimpse of the backyard where you could see a large pool and what seemed to be a hot tub attached to it. “Y/n!” Colin called, beckoning you with his waving hand. You huffed quietly as you slowly climbed out of the car, looking down the road to see the moving truck coming up behind you. You trudged up the path slowly, feeling guilty for dragging your dirty shoes along the perfectly clean stones. “Y/n it’s so great to see you!” The woman said as she came at you with open arms “hi Scarlett” you said as you held your hands in front of you. Scarlett awkwardly wrapped her arms around you, completely missing the signal you had given her that you definitely did not want a hug. “How are you doing?” She asked with a wide smile, making you cringe slightly at the sheer force of her actions “fine” you said as you avoided eye contact. “Why don’t I take you up to your room? It’s completely empty so you can do whatever you like with it” Scarlett said. “Just tell me where it is and I’ll find my way there” you said through gritted teeth. “Oh okay sure” Scarlett said as she explained the root towards your bedroom.
You stepped through the open door eyes widening at the size of the entry way to your new ‘home’ you didn’t care to look around properly but your eyes couldn’t avoid the large cabinet to your left, filled with fancy china dinner pieces, you scoffed as you tuned to the staircase, why would anyone need so many dinner pieces? You climbed the stairs to the first floor where again you ignored the large hallways and golden wall art, luckily the second floor was only two rooms so there wasn’t much to look at when you got there. You glanced into the first room expecting it to be stuffed with diamonds or something, but all there was were boxes stacked high and low across the room, a storage room. Great. Scarlett was so welcoming that she had banished you to a spare room on the top floor next to the dumping ground of trash she could probably just donate. Your mood shifted slightly when you entered your room, it was bright and big and there was a beautiful view of the garden resting above a window seat. There was no furniture but the room was spotless you imagined what you could do with the place, realising immediately that you would have way too much empty space.
You heard a giggle as someone came bounding up the staircase. “How’s it looking kid?” Colin said as he came to stand with you in the doorway of your new bedroom. “Nice room hey?” He said enthusiastically “your own space and a window seat! You’ve always wanted one of those!” Your dad smiled. “Yeah it’s cool” you coldly said. “Well I’ll send the movers up with your stuff and you can get settled” Colin said as he pranced by you and bounced back down the stairs. You cringed at his excitement, no one should be so happy that their wife had died 10 months ago. You sighed loudly as you made your way towards the window, brushed over the cushion beneath the view. You looked out into the back yard, laughing slightly when you saw the size of the pool that despite being huge barley took up any of the garden space. It felt strange, this should be a dream come true. What kid doesn’t want to live in a mansion with their own bathroom and a pool in the yard? The possibilities of what you could do here were endless, you would never be bored in a house like this. You knew you should feel lucky, but if luck was a true thing in your life then your mom would still be here and you’d get to spend the rest of your life with her.

ᨖᨖೱᨖ⧗ᨖⴵᨖ🕷️ᨖⴵᨖ⧗ᨖೱᨖᨖ
I dreaded these days. They didn't happen often, but when they did, they always sucked. As soon as I was 16, my mom made me go to all my doctor's appointments by myself. And this year is no different. Even though it's just my yearly check-up, I still get very nervous. What if they find something wrong? What if I'm really sick? I just get all these worries in my head that don't seem to go away.
My appointment isn't until three in the afternoon, but that's all I can think about. It's currently ten AM, but I'm just pacing around the living room of the house that me and my girlfriend, Scarlett shared. Scarlett was out getting groceries, but she should be back any minute. Then as if on queue, I hear the front door open. Unable to stop my pacing, I keep up my pacing while I hear Scarlett put away the frozens and drop the rest of the bags of groceries on the ground. I feel hands on my shoulders and look up to see Scarlett in front of me. I stop pacing and look into her beautiful, forest green eyes.
"Breathe with me" She says, taking deep breaths in and out. I didn't even realize that I was hyperventilating, but I started to follow her breathing pattern after a few breaths. Once I've calmed down enough, Scarlett takes my hands and sits us down on a couch. "Is it the doctor's appointment?" She asks, almost as if she already knows.
I nod my head, still too shaken up to speak. Her thumbs rub patterns on the back of my hands. I look down at my lap, feeling ashamed for getting all worked up over a simple appointment.
"Hey, look at me." Scarlett says. I look up at her, worry still written all over my face. "It'll be ok. You'll be perfectly fine and healthy. You eat well, you take care of your skin, you exercise, you have no symptoms. You have nothing to be worried about."
She lets go of one of my hands and cups my cheek. "Do you want me to go with you?" I nod, still nervous to speak, of fear that my voice might crack. This means a lot to me, as I've been going to these appointments alone for years. This will be the first time I will have gone with someone else besides my mother, and I'm glad it's Scarlett. Even though we have only been together for a year now, I'm glad she cares enough about me to go with me. For my last appointment, Scarlett was away filming. If she was here, I know that she would've come.
"I've got to go put away the rest of the groceries. Do you want to come help me? It might take your mind off of the appointment." I nod in agreement. Scarlett gets up and gives me a hand of hers to help me get up. I take her hand and walk with her to the kitchen. I start to put away the groceries, and she walks over toward the speaker system. She looks through her phone for a minute, and grins. She turns on the speaker system, and connects her phone, playing my favorite music. Music that she knows I can't resist not dancing and singing to. She walks back over, swaying her hips to the beat, and I watch her, biting my lip. I switch my focus back to the groceries, oblivious to the fact that Scar has now abandoned her task of putting away the groceries and now is dancing along to the music.
As I put the last few things away, I hum a bit to the music. When I put the last thing away, I actually sing a little bit. Once I am all done, I turn around, and see Scarlett dancing to the music.
"So that's why I had to put away everything by myself. You-" I boop her nose "Were busy dancing, you cutie."
"Care to join me?" Scarlett says as she outstretches her hand to me. I gladly take it. She twirls me around, and then puts one hand on my hip. She keeps a hold of my other hand, and I put my free hand on her shoulder. We sway to the music as we both sing-shout along to the music.
The next song to come on is a slower song, so we don't shout to the music as much, but instead just sing at a normal volume. She leans in closer to me, nuzzling her head in my neck. Her arm snakes around my back, and mine around her neck. We just sway to the music, holding each other tight and close.
Once the slow song is over, we let go of each other and start to dance our asses off to the next few songs. That's when I feel my phone buzz in my pocket. I check to see what it says, and it's a reminder that my appointment is in one hour.
I start to panic again, and Scarlett notices. She takes a quick glance at the clock first, realizing the time, and envelopes me in a hug. I hug Scar back, taking in her scent. Her hugs always help me calm down. She pulls back peppers my face in kisses. Once my face has been fully appreciated, she rests her forehead on mine, looking into my eyes. I look back into her sparkling eyes, and let out a sigh. She always knows how to calm me down.
"Let's go darling." Scarlett says. She knows that if she were to mention the doctor's, that might've made me panic again. She grabs her phone and her keys in one hand, and takes my hand in the other. We walk in silence to the car, where Scarlett opens the door for me and helps me get in. She gets in on her side, and after she starts the car, she connects her phone and continues the same playlist from before.
We both sing along the whole ride there. Once we get there, I'm hesitant to get out, so Scarlett comes over to help me out. She opens my door and undoes my seatbelt for me. She takes my hand, and just stands there, holding it.
"Come on, my love. We can't avoid this forever. You got this. I believe in you. Now let's get this over with." She says lovingly. She takes my hand up to her mouth and kisses my knuckles.
I eventually get out of the car, and we walk hand in hand to the building and through the doors. I check in at the front desk, and we sit down together. We keep holding hands, and at one point she brings them up to her mouth, kissing the whole back of my hand. She knows this will keep my calm and keep my mind occupied. Before I know it, the door opens and they call out my name.
"y/n?" The nurse said. I get up and look at Scarlett. She is still sitting down, probably expecting to stay out here the entire time.
Still holding her hand, I say "You're coming with me, silly." She shoots me a playful grin, one that always gives me butterflies, and gets up, walking with me to the exam room.
The nurse ushers me to sit on the exam bed, while he suggests Scarlett sit on one of the chairs that's in the room. "I think I'll stand," Scarlett says, still not letting go of my hand. She helps me get up on the exam bed, and stands next to me, holding my hand with her hand furthest away from me and rubbing my back with her other hand. The nurse takes my vitals, then walks out of the room. We wait a few minutes for the doctor, who eventually comes in.
The doctor comes in and tells me that everything looks normal, and the only thing that needs to be changed are my head meds. These are what me and Scar call my anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds. She gives me a new prescription and tells me to come back next year.
She leads us to the front desk, where I schedule an appointment for next year. We walk out the car, and as soon as we're both inside, I let out a huge sigh of relief.
"You did great, sweetie. I'm so very proud of you." Scarlett says, looking at me and resting a hand on my thigh. I put a hand of mine of top of hers, where it stays for the drive home.

Hi, I would like to request Scarlettxreader when Scarlett is sick and in a grumpy mood. maybe with the prompts, “Are you seriously going to say bless you every single time I sneeze?” and “Bless you! Are you sure you're ok? You never sneeze this much.”.
Thanks :)
Little Miss Grumpy
〚 Notes - I loved writing this one! It was adorable! @lots-of-pockets gave me the really cute idea of having Scarlett get all clingy near the end :D Soooo enjoy :D 〛
〚 Summary - It's not unusual for your wife to be grumpy when she's sick, you were there to look after her either way. 〛
〚 Wordcount - 1815 〛
〘 Check Out My Masterlist! 〙
╚════════ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ════════╝
It wasn’t unusual to find Scarlett sitting down in front of a stack of papers at the dark-oak desk in her home office. You could often find her sitting there working on emails, planning her schedule or doing anything else her job required. What was unusual however was the huge mound of surrounding tissues which littered the desk as she slumped over her latest script, attempting to highlight her lines.
And you used the word attempting liberally, she’d somehow managed to begin highlighting her line then it seemed the pen had its own ideas and went off in a different direction onto the white paper, marking it in a pastel pink shade.
“Good morning baby,” You smiled, finally announcing your presence as you placed her steaming mug of morning coffee between the mess of tissues, “How’s your work going?” You asked as you sank down onto the small armchair at the opposite side of her desk.
Scarlett shot you a grateful smile as she took a sip of her drink, “It’s going alright.” She stopped to sniffle wetly, scrubbing her nose a little with her finger before continuing, “I just need to get this finished before lunch. It’ll never get done otherwise.”
“Alright, do you need any-“ You paused hearing the sound of tissues being quickly torn from the box and you looked over to see Scarlett holding them in front of her face, her breath hitching as her nose visibly twitched.
“Hh’tushhoo Hh-Hhup’sssh!” Scarlett sneezed, burying her face into the tissues.
“Bless yo-“ You began but from the look of her face, you knew she wasn’t done just yet.
“Hh’iiishiu! Hh’hHh-“ Scarlett sniffled harshly as she failed at coaxing her final sneeze out, leaving her in an annoyed state as her tickling nose continued to relentlessly tease her.
“Can I say bless you now?” You chuckled, finding the show of your wife cursing at her own nose rather amusing. She, however, did not find it amusing.
“No, you cannot.” She grumbled in response, giving one final sniff before accepting her defeat and turning back to her papers, only to have to desperately snap to the side only moments later to avoid sneezing all over her work when the itch suddenly came back with vengeance, “H’itshhh! Hh’heh’tshoo! Hh..Hh-h..hhHEISSCHIEW!”
“Christ Scarlett!” You jumped a little at the volume of her final sneeze, “Bless you, bless you and bless you!”
By now it was obvious that she was getting sick, infact anybody in a 10-foot radius would be able to tell. The rosy, red nose and crimson cheeks combined with her exhausted-looking eyes definitely didn’t point to her being in great health. But it wasn’t like you could just force her to rest. Scarlett was stubborn at the best of times and that stubbornness only got worse when she was sick, you’d seen that first hand. She had the nasty habit of trying to push through and get her work done, and while her resilience was usually one of the things you loved about her, that definitely wasn’t the case when all you wanted her to do was rest. Instead, you’d need to be smart about this. If you had any chance of getting her to rest, it was going to be because she admitted she was sick.
“Are you seriously going to say bless you every single time I sneeze?” She sniffled back, reaching over to grab a handful of tissues before blowing her nose into them, choosing to ignore the way you were raising your eyebrow at her.
“Yup, is that going to be a problem sweetie?” You smirked only to be met with a cold glare back in return. Normally a look like that meant ‘you’re sleeping on the sofa tonight’ but it was hard to take her seriously with her rapidly twitching red nose and fluttery eyes.
Unsurprisingly she sneezed again moments later, and you decided to test your luck further, “Bless you, again. Are you sure you're okay? You never sneeze this much.”
“I’b fide.” Scarlett mumbled, her constants being drowned by the sound of her thick congestion, “Why wouldd’t I be fide?”
“Sure, you are,” You replied, a hint of sarcasm lacing your tone, “Because everyone's who’s ‘fide’ clearly speaks like they’ve swallowed a handful of cotton.”
“Ha ha, very fuddy.” Scarlett mumbled in annoyance as she rolled her eyes, but still she took the hint and reached towards to take another handful of tissues from the box to blow her nose.

“I need to get this finished now.” She sniffled, her voice clearer now.
“All right baby, I’ll get out of your hair for a bit. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to text me.” You smiled, getting up from the couch to come round the side of her desk to quickly kiss the tip of her red nose.
An action which may or may not have caused her tickle to return…
“You did that on purpose.” Scarlett grumbled sourly, wiping her sleeve against her nose whilst you flashed your ‘I’m totally innocent’ smile.
“Me? Make you sneeze on purpose? Oh, I would never.” Your teasing voice trailed off into a giggle as you quickly left her office. Scarlett being grumpy when sick wasn’t unusual but that definitely didn’t mean you wanted to be on the receiving end of it, even if she did look adorable when she was annoyed.
Instead, you took the chance to clean up the house a little. You’d both been cooped up inside the last few days as a result of the raging Winter weather outside and it was starting to show. Luckily it didn’t take long for you to start the dishwasher up and begin a load of laundry before you began work on the rest of the house.
You were just unloading the freshly washed glasses from the machine when your phone dinged loudly from the countertop, grabbing your attention. Putting the final glasses away, you turned off the dishwasher before going over to look at the notification on your phone.
Scarlett 🤍: Can you bring me another tissue box? (READ: 10:23)
“Poor baby.” You found yourself mumbling a loud as you read the text. You knew Scarlett was sick, but that box was pretty full when you were in there earlier. If she’d used them all this fast, then maybe she felt worst then you’d thought.
Almost as if to confirm your suspicions, the sound of a thick chesty cough came from behind you, turning around you saw Scarlett slowly shuffling towards you, her long pyjama pants trailing a little on the floor as she held the now-empty box in one of the hands.
“Oh sweetie, I just got your text, I would’ve brought you up another box in a second.” You sighed as she rubbed at her eyes. She looked worst then earlier, somehow more tired and her nose looked redder, if that was even possible.
“It’s okay, I needed to stretch my legs anway-hh-H’eishhoo!” She breaks off, the force of her sneezes sent her bending at the waist a little causing her to stumble forward as she lost her balance.
“Bless you.” You mumbled softly, your teasing tone nowhere to be found as you reached out to rub her back, “You sure you’re okay? You don’t sound too well.” Your worry causing the words to spill from your mouth, even if you hadn’t intended them too.
Scarlett seemed to hesitate for a moment, and you’d thought you’d blown it but to your surprise, she melted further into your touch, “I don't..uh- I don’t feel that well either.”
You paused at her words; you were surprised she admitted it this fast, so you knew she definently must’ve been feeling really crappy, much worst then she was letting on. Your hand moved to settle against the nap of her skin. She was hot, uncomfortably so. And judging by the small droplets of sweat clutching to her skin, it was a safe guess to say she was feverish. Pressing your lips to her own only confirmed your suspicions.
“You’re so warm sweetie,” You sighed quietly as your arms came to wrap around her waist, letting your tired wife cuddle in close to you, “What do you need baby? Anything that’ll make you feel better, I’ll get it for you.”
“Tissues.” She mumbled in reply as she buried her face into the crook of your neck, pulling herself closer into you, suddenly craving your touch. This did mean though that you weren’t fully able to give her the space she needed when she suddenly sneezed against the fabric of your hoodie, to her credit, she’d stifled it well but you definitely weren’t looking forward to catching it, if you had to get sick from anybody, at least it was from her though.
“Bless you, I’ll go get them baby, stay here.” You smiled, gently peeling her from your hold before going to look into the cupboard to grab a new box of tissues. Opening the box, you went to hand them to your wife whilst you pulling out a handful to carefully press against her sniffly nose as you kissed her lightly on her head. "Better?" You asked once you’d cleaned up her face a little.
“A bit...” She affirmed, instantly back in her prior position, holding you tightly.
“Okay then, how about we go get you into bed, we can have a snuggly day under the covers, or we can go cuddle on the sofa and watch movies on the big TV, whichever you’d prefer. All I ask is that you’re resting.” You said, giving her the choice of what she wanted to do. You knew that for her to properly rest and to get better the fastest, she needed to be relaxed.
"Hmm, the big TV." She mumbled, snuggling her face into your neck with a little shiver while you held her close.  "You can pick whatever movie we'll watch." She sighed, her exhaustion catching up with her once more. Your arms tightened around her protectively as you slowly led her into the living room, nesting her down beside you on the comfy sofa as you pulled off the big blanket you kept draped over the back of it and pulled it over the two of you, tucking her in tight.
You didn't get a chance to say anything further as her breathing slowed and she began to drift off and by the time you’d spent trying to decide what to watch, your wife had already fallen into a gentle sleep, her face buried into you as she slept softly. You breathed in, smelling her hair and the scent of her shampoo. You kissed the top of her head gently again as you decided that you’d rather concentrate on holding her close then watching any silly movie so there you were, content to cuddle her close as she slept off her cold.
