❛  you’re  amazing .  ❜ shuusei for either vicchan or rina-chan! <3
@yeonban
Tumblr media
They were child prodigies, him and his sister. It didn’t matter where they were better than the other, they worked well together and they knew they needed each other to survive. This world was filled with hypocrites and faux saviors, even this society was filled with so many holes it was absolutely disgusting. He wanted to laugh in the face of the leader of this establishment that jailed him with the people who were slowly going insane while being isolated. It would only make their coefficient go up, it didn’t make sense. What defined crime coefficient? It made him think of mental health, of what conditions people were born with, and what could cause said distresses that would make a “machine” think they would be capable of committing crimes. So many of those poor fellas he’d seen where he was held were people losing their mind, stressed and alone, devastated and struggling endlessly. He wanted to laugh, was this really better than the outside? If he were honest, Japan felt like a cage he couldn’t wait to escape from, but he didn’t want to leave a friend of his behind. It’s why right now he was discussing with Shuusei the plan Zarina and him had concluded over the course of the last five years.
A smug smirk crossed his handsome face as the man would pick the paper up and hold it above the flame, burning the said paper to turn it to ash. His gloves helped him not get burned too badly, such little stinging pain didn’t matter to him as he was used to it. His mind would travel to the world outside where their father saved Zarina, her body injured across and her eyes emotionless, lifeless, and blank. The drop in his stomach upon the memory caused his smile to waver as he would be brought up by the comment made by his friend. He never stopped amazing him, for a man born and raised in this society he was quick to pick on details and events that would then be deducted into understanding the situation they were in. Kagari certainly had the eyes of someone who would feel so much freer outside, a human being despite the wars and crimes going on around there. The lack of bonds, chains, and limitations where they would be just there to survive, to live, to enjoy their life. Victor wondered how this young man would improve if he were not confined to this land of limitations and endless prejudice. It wouldn’t be easier outside in ways of survival and quality of life in the beginning, but Sokolov was also quite confident in Shuusei’s ability to survive, to improve, and to adapt. It’s why he even discussed this plan with his friend.
“It’s not just me. Zarina was working on this plan even before she got me out,” he would shrug, remembering how shocked he was to see his sister speak about this. He did take a big part in discussing and developing this plan, but the baseline was already established and he was able to work additionally through with this, it made things so much easier. He didn’t expect Sybil to have so many blind spots, but it made him excited. He wondered how this society will blow up if humans will rise up to rebel against this foolish attempt at controlling each other’s lives. It was similar to eugenics and it made him sick, this selection of people who were allowed and not allowed to be simple human beings absolutely irritated him. He wanted to destroy this, destroy it all. He wanted to see how people will break down, blame themselves, feel guilty or how they will be forced to understand that they were the weakest of all in the world. So many of these fools won’t be able to survive outside, they lived in their own little bubble that he wanted to pop and watch the blood spill. Ah, but he must not speak of it before Kagari or anyone aside from his sister. “I’m telling you this because I want you to come with us, so does Zarina. We can leave whenever,” he shrugged at that, all too laid-back over the fact that they were talking about deserting and becoming criminals. Well, they were already criminals weren’t they? So what’s the deal? Then again, Victor also knew one thing about Shuusei Kagari: he was a loyal motherfucker, with all brotherly affection and platonic appreciation.
“I know you’re not ready yet,” Victor leans back against the couch, placing his arm on the back of the same couch. Golden eyes studied Kagari without any shyness, noticing the changes in his body language and in his eyes. Unlike him and Zarina, Kagari had people who he treasured and who he wanted to keep safe. As an example, Akane Tsunemori was one of them. A funny lady, he won’t deny, one that could just try to change the course of this river’s flow but he was not positive about one human changing everything for the better. It’s always easier to destroy than to build, and Tsunemori did everything to try and build anew. Makishima Shogo’s plan was to destroy everything, it’s far easier and far more pleasurable for those who wish to see the downfall of Project Sybil. Aren’t they all lab rats inside one big cage named ‘Japan’? “You have unfinished business here, yada yada. We’ve got time, the plan gets updated every two weeks to make sure that we’re prepared for anything. Zar just wants to get us out of here. Your friend Kogami already got out, it’s not impossible to do.”
Victor looks over his friend once more, deep in though for only a moment. His lack of jokes and comedy brings back the odd realization that if he were still outside of Japan, he would’ve been king. His confidence that didn’t borderline on arrogance, his analytical gaze, his posture. It all told another of the king’s makings, the heir to once ever-growing mafia in Russia. He was their king and he will be back, he’ll reign over those who dare to overstep their lines and he will burn everything away to let new blooms rise from the ashes. Destruction would beget a new beginning, he’ll be happy to be that explosion.
“However, I understand you’ll need time to think, to weigh the options, to decide what you want to do. You’re close to Tsunemori, I know it. That’s why I also need you to know that there is no rush. Just take your time. Can’t leave a brother behind.”

Birthdays Past and Present
Can also be read on AO3!
Rating: T
Fandom: Psycho-Pass
Pairing: Shinkane (Kogami/Akane)
Characters: Akane Tsunemori, Shinya Kogami, Shuusei Kagari, Nobuchika Ginoza
Summary: The business of reforming society to be more compassionate has turned birthdays into a luxury Akane can't afford.
A/N: Happy birthday, Akane!! 💖 Sorry this is a bit late lol  (Further author’s notes can be read on AO3)
The first time Akane had a birthday as a PSB Inspector, she nearly missed her own birthday dinner.
Kaori had called her, despite Yuki’s firm belief that Akane wouldn’t cancel this one time. The call made Akane jump, her attention jerking away from the report she was working on. She scrambled to leave the office as she answered the call, but not before Yuki’s excited “Happy birthdayyyyyy!” rang out around the room.
“It’s her birthday?” Kagari looked oddly hurt, and his frown was almost accusatory when he turned to Ginoza. “How come she didn’t tell any of us?”
“Because she’s an adult with more important things to worry about,” Ginoza answered, but his dismissive tone contradicted the way his eyes drifted over to Akane’s form through the glass.
“Yeah, but I’m her friend! She should’ve told me, I could’ve made her a cupcake or something.”
“How come we don’t get cupcakes on our birthdays?”
“Because, Ko, Akane-chan doesn’t bully me like the rest of you do.”
Ginoza opened his mouth to tell the Enforcers to focus on their work, but then Akane stepped back into the room, and his focus returned to her. “That seemed urgent.”
“Hm? Oh, it’s...it’s nothing, I’m sorry for the disruption.” She moved to her desk, only to be stopped by Ginoza speaking again.
“Tell me, Tsunemori, how many reports do you have left?”
Akane cringed - she really had been working hard all day, but the number of unopened files didn’t seem to lessen at all, and she knew she would be reprimanded for having so many left. “Um...I’ve finished about half of them.”
“And you were planning on finishing them before meeting with your friends?”
“I...I wasn’t going to go. I just cancelled with them.”
“Then you’d better call them back and undo the cancellation.”
“Ginoza-san…?”
“Go, enjoy your birthday. I’ll finish your reports.”
“Eh?!”
“It’s just for today. In the future, don’t expect me to cover for your slow pace. Now go, before I change my mind.”
“I- thank you!” A delighted smile pushed at Akane’s flushed cheeks, and she left with a bounce in her steps that hadn’t been seen since her first week.
No one said anything until her steps stopped echoing down the hall, and Ginoza kept his gaze fixed to his screen in an attempt to avoid the brows being raised at him.
“Well…,” Kogami finally murmured, “that was nice of you.” He didn’t get a reply, but that didn’t stop a knowing smirk from pulling at his lips.
When Akane stepped into work the next day, she nearly walked into a perfect little cupcake, presented to her by a beaming Kagari.
That was the last time she got to eat his food.
And that was the last year Akane celebrated her birthday.
In the following years, she only realized her birthday had passed when she noticed her age had gone up in her psycho-pass. There was always just...too much to do. Too many cases to solve, too many lives to try to save, too many traps from Sibyl to avoid. Sometimes, occasionally, she made it to dinner with Kaori. But with every passing year, the weight of the lives stolen from her grew heavier, and celebrating another year felt hollow in the face of her work.
She didn’t expect that to change, even with Kogami’s return to Japan. Still, she couldn’t help feeling a pang when he told her their next mission would find them leaving Japan right on her birthday. With Kogami gone and Kaori busy with her married life, April 1st passed like any other workday, with the added joy of a quick birthday greeting and hug from Shion.
But Akane got a pleasant surprise when she opened her fridge that night and found a stack of sealed dishes waiting for her, with a small envelope on the top. The warped glassware couldn’t disguise the familiar look of Kogami’s fried rice and Tomoyo’s curry and beef dishes, and Akane was already smiling by the time she opened the envelope.
I’m sorry to sneak in on your birthday. I hope the taste of my mom’s cooking makes up for it — she wanted to make sure you ate well on your birthday, even though we can’t be there to celebrate with you.
I would give anything to be there with you, to serve you food on warm plates and with a kiss. But for now...at least I know you’ll enjoy the food. The kiss will come as soon as we get back. Happy birthday, Akane.
She did enjoy the food. Of course she would’ve preferred to eat it with Kogami, but the fact that he’d snuck in before the FAD’s departure that day made her chest feel tight with love. She couldn’t call him to thank him - he’d told her ahead of time that they had to go somewhere with little-to-no communications infrastructure - but she did call Tomoyo, leaving a heartfelt message in her voicemail so she wouldn’t wake her up.
And so her birthday passed, come and gone with hardly a trace. Over the following weeks, in her spare moments between work and training, Akane wondered after Kogami and the rest of his team, and when they would be returning home. But he never called, and she knew there was no point in waiting or wishing for the impossible.
After all this time, she should’ve learned to expect the unexpected. Maybe then she wouldn’t have frozen in surprise when she entered her apartment and found Kogami standing at her table, where a small cupcake sat with a lit candle. “Happy birthday.”
“You’re back.”
“Yeah. I’m sorry I didn’t- mph!” Before he could finish his apology, Akane was throwing her arms around his shoulders and pulling his lips to hers, making him grab her hips to steady them both. The kiss started messy and clumsy, but within seconds they fell into a rhythm, slow and relished and as natural as anything, until they were both flushed when they pulled apart. “Welcome home,” Akane murmured, her breath ghosting over his lips.
“I missed you.”
“Me too.”
She tried to press forward again, but Kogami gently nudged her away with a soft laugh. “The cupcake’s going to be covered in wax.”
“Would you be insulted if I told you I didn’t care much about the cupcake right now?”
“Terribly. I might leave this moment.” His eyes twinkled as he spoke, and his arms wrapped tighter around, pressing her close until their bodies were flush against each other.
“What if I told you how much I loved the food you and your mother made?”
“Hm...maybe I’ll stay. But you at least have to blow out the candle.”
Akane obeyed, pulling away just enough to blow out the candle without leaving Kogami’s arms. It took a few tries, but she succeeded with a satisfied grin. “There.”
“You’re not going to eat it?”
“I’m interested in a different treat.”
Kogami’s laughs were smothered by her lips, and it wasn’t long before he was carrying her to the bedroom, cupcake abandoned on the table for something sweeter.

30 DAYS ANIME CHALLENGE
Day 25 - Saddest anime death
Oh my God, how can I choose?! I'm really tenderhearted, so I cry for everything. Every anime death punches me really hard.
However, after a mindful reflection, these are my choices.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: Maes Hughes' death
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was an amazing character! He didn't long for power or anything like that. He was the happiest man in the world because he had everything he wanted: a beautiful family and caring friends (I think that if Hughes had seen how Roy reacted to his death, he would have been moved, perhaps making fun of him).
Hughes always thought of others, not only his family: he welcomed into his home the Elric brothers and Winry, he decided to help Roy achieve his goal. Until the end he thought about the sake of others: he decided to call Roy from a phone booth because he knew that someone was after him and didn't want to involve his colleagues; when Envy attacked him he wasn't scared of dying, but he was sad beacuse he had been unable to keep the promise to his wife and his daughter, the most precious people for him.
And the scene of his funeral...God, it was heartbreaking! Elicia...you made me cry until all the fluids of my body dried up! This little baby didn't deserve that!
Even if Hughes seemed to be goofy, nosy and also a little annoying, he was a great character, a gentle and cheerful person that it's impossible not to love. He was a dazzling light in a world of darkness and corruption, a lifeline for so many characters (first of all Roy Mustang).
With his naivety and kindness he made himself loved. Even King Bradley (one of the main villains and then indirectly responsible of his death) was shaking during his funeral.
In short, Maes Hughes was the last person who deserved to die. But even if it's sad, this brave choice is one of the main reasons of the beauty of this series.
Psycho Pass: Shuusei Kagari's death
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have watched many blue anime and hearthbreaking death, so this choice may not seem the saddest. But let me explain.
First of all, Kagari is one of my favorite Psycho Pass' characters and I think he deserved more screen time.
He seemed a naive, childish and careless person, but his character was more complex than this.
He was only five when he became a latent criminal, so he didn't even have the opportunity to know the world, the real one. He lived his whole life locked in a cage. For this reason, unlike Kogami, Masaoka and Kunizuka (and of course also many other latent criminals), he seemed to accetp more easly his condiction of latent criminal and Enforcer, because unilke the others he knew only that world, he didn't know what exatly he was missing!
For this reason he got angry with Akane: he had high expectations about the real world and so he was envious of her ostensible freedom, therefore he couldn't stand her complaining.
But despite envy, he became someone very similar to a friends for her; despite envy he never tried to rebel against the Sibyl System, even if he hated it. In spite of everything, he has always been "faithful" to that system that has caged him. Like a real hunting dog.
"Don't make me laugh. Both you and I are trash who simply envy the happiness others have."
He called himself trash, as if he was agreed with the judgment of Sibyl System about himself. As if it was right that he was rated as latent criminal. MY POOR BOY!
But his faithful and his obedience didn't save him.
He died by the hand of that damned system. Like a father that kills his child, or like a owner that kills his dog.
But the saddest thing is that he died alone. There was nothing left of him, as if he never existed. He was literally deleted, erased.
It's so unfair.
To make matters worse, officially he wasn't dead, but he took advantage of the situation to run away, abandoning his companions.
He would never have done such a thing! He didn't deserve all that!!!
And his smile at that moment...IT'S SO UNFAIR!!!
I can't. Too many memories. Too many feels.
I hope I managed to explain myself well enough.

*      @homra-no-artemis sent a message :     Plots please as if we don't have a million over five diff chars already svdndbfk
Tumblr media
↳    “ 𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐓𝐒 𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 ”    /    𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐏𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 !
( 𝟏 )    SHUUSEI + TAKEHIKO.      We’ve talked about them a lot already, but you know what? I’m never letting them go. I love thinking about how they initially bond as fellow Enforcers, with Takehiko showing him the ropes. Shuusei starts off so cynical and rebellious, not really caring about anyone or anything, his teasing personality acting as a very thin veil for his spite and anger at the world and the system that deemed him a danger to society at the age of 5. He’s so full of rage and he doesn’t truly believe he has a place in the world, but thanks to Takehiko and the rest of Division 1, he starts to think that maybe it’s not all bad. Despite it all, he has a family.
From there, as he grows more comfortable, the frivolous flirtation starts. He’s acting like a suave guy around Takehiko one moment before stumbling into awkwardness and uncertainty ( and that’s how you know it’s real, folks! ), fumbling with his words and likely putting his foot in it on several occasions. Other than that, maybe he loves how she can absolutely destroy his ass when it comes to sparring a little too much, but he does genuinely respect Takehiko’s prowess and strives to learn from her ( in between fawning over her like a lovestruck teenager ). In his eyes, she’s the most incredible woman he’s ever met, and yes we’re going to ignore the fact that he can likely count the amount of women he’s met on one hand.
He comes to care for her very much, even if he’s not always stellar at showing it due to... Well, stunted emotional growth. But it’s there. Beneath the surface. Hard to spot, but undeniably there.
( 𝟏.𝟏 )      As far as plots go, a sparring thread is a must. There’s plenty of chances for interesting interactions and developments, or even straight up funny/silly stuff. Okay... Maybe I just want to see Shuusei getting his ass kicked.
( 𝟏.𝟐 )      I’m a sucker for some hurt and comfort, so I’m here for anything that involves the two of them offering one another support during times of trauma. Could be potentially wedged into a sparring thread, or anything that covers the moment Shuusei’s divergence begins when Takehiko saves him and the two get their minds wiped as a result. Especially if those memories ever start to resurface.
( 𝟏.𝟑 )      Shuusei loves to cook, so some cooking shenanigans could be fun. Especially if they’re at a point where they’re in a relationship of sorts? Shuusei standing behind Takehiko and guiding her through some steps, because I’m a sap for that trope? YEAH. LET’S GET IT.
Tumblr media
( 𝟐 )    KYOJURO + TAKEHIKO.      If we utilise Kyojuro’s canon divergent verse, I think it’d be interesting to explore Takehiko supporting Kyojuro, essentially mirroring how they met and the support he offered her. Understandably, his fight with Akaza ( in which his solar plexus is not ... impaled ) leaves him permanently scarred in a multitude of ways. Most notably, he loses an eye and his depth perception is heavily affected as a result, but he also loses his right kidney and his stomach is heavily damaged, which is what ultimately forces him to retire. Having someone like Takehiko around — whom he trusts perhaps more than he does any other person in his life ( with the exception of Ubuyashiki ) — will make a huge difference.
He’s not the type to open up to anyone about his feelings of weakness or inferiority, but with Takehiko, he’d likely learn to rely on her when he needs help and even go as far as to ask for it. Naturally, it takes a fair amount of time because his pride is about the one thing he refuses to let go of, but Takehiko will end up being the only person he allows himself to show weakness around.
( 𝟐.𝟏 )      Pre-injury sparring threads? Mission threads? Going into town together for a moment of normality? People finding them odd because they seem like such polar opposites when you meet the two of them under normal circumstances and yet they display such flawless teamwork when in battle? Kyojuro bringing her along with him to Pillar meetings even if Takehiko can’t actually sit in on them because he wants to show off his amazing new Tsuguko to his peers? Yes. Yes to all of it.
( 𝟐.𝟐 )      How about some casual, chilled out threads where Kyojuro cooks for Takehiko or shows her how to make some of his favourite dishes? Or attending Tanabata together as a way for Kyojuro to try and bring Takehiko out of her shell? Or even a potential three-way thread with a Senjuro where Kyojuro introduces his younger brother to his new Tsuguko? Anything that involves Kyojuro slowly starting to integrate Takehiko into his family.
Tumblr media
( 𝟑 )   HAK + TAKEHIKO.      This is still dependent on me making a compatible verse for him ( so no solid plots for now ), but Hak and Takehiko could have such a sibling/rivalry sort of relationship. Like we mentioned on Discord, I can easily imagine there being lots of banter, teasing, prodding, bickering, play fights and hair ruffling between them.
However, Hak is also fiercely protective of her. It’s okay for him to say something teasing about Takehiko, typically because he doesn’t mean it in a negative manner, but hoo boy... If it’s someone else? It’s on sight. Similarly, if someone threatens her, he’ll make them wish they’d never even laid eyes on her. I can imagine that going both ways over time?
I just think they could be really neat and if I ever figure out some more verses for Hak, it’s over for you!! :))

Advent 2017 - The stars in your eyes the smile in your smile - Day 22
Wuhuu finally done with a new chapter. My current plan is to finish another one today or tomorrow morning and finishing the challenge on New Year’s. Hope this works out...
Have fun with their first conflict
Day 22 - Presents
“Shuusei!” Hotsuma looked at the package in his hand and then at the prince and seemed anything but happy. Hotsuma had come round once more to hang out. They had just planned to spend some time together without any kind of work. So they were at Shuusei’s bedroom sitting on opposite sides of his table.
“What? I... you said you were looking for a new phone?” Shuusei couldn’t quite understand what was wrong about getting the one he loved what he desired. And he was a bit confused about why his boyfriend didn’t seem to like the present.
“Yes... I said so but... I didn’t say I wanted you to buy me one.”
“I wanted to save you money. You can’t afford it this easily.”
“You’re right.... But thta doesn’t mean I want you to spend so much money on me. This bracelet last week was expensive as was the gaming console the week before and the new desk the week before that.”
“That is all I have... And you needed a new desk. The old one had broken down” Shuusei looked at his boyfriend. He didn’t want him to be angry but... He received so much from him. So much warmth and almost every time they met Hotsuma had baked him something. Yes Hotsuma didn’t spend much money on him, couldn’t spend so much money but... For Shuusei it felt like Hotsuma did so much more for him than he could give back... Shuusei couldn’t bake or cook or do anything with his hands besides writing... So he wanted to show his appreciation this way.
“You have time you can spend on me. Shuusei... I don’t want to be spoiled like this. Don’t you understand?” Hotsuma seemed serious.
“But you need your money for food and other essentials... Why don’t you want me to pay for the things you want and need besides that? I can afford it more easily.”
“Because...” Hotsuma needed to think shortly before he answered: “Because it means more to me if I worked hard to get the stuff I want. I don’t want it to be a matter of course to get expensive stuff just like this... I can’t repay you.”
Shuusei looked at his boyfriend. “No... I can’t repay you for all the kindness you provide me with. You stand at home making all this delicious stuff for me,” he said and pointed to the cake Hotsuma has brought him this time. When he thought back Hotsuma only made anything a second time when he had asked him to. So he had by now thought of so many different cookies and cakes in all this time. “You look for recipes and see how you can alter them so I do not have to fear to react to any of the ingredients. You... you see me... the person I am instead of a prince with fragile health who has to be treated with great caution but no one ever cares to ask how I want to be treated. And you just see me. And I... for me this is so much more valuable than anything I can do for you... You know I still cannot leave the palace as often as I wish. I cannot just go and visit you as often as I wanted to... And... You are not the only one who thinks he cannot pay the other back... I want to do something for you as well. And... I do not know another way than to get you the things you want.” Shuusei looked at Hotsuma. Did he get what he wanted to say?
Hotsuma fell silent for a while trying to process the words Shuusei had just spoken. “I- Sorry... I didn’t think you’d see it this way... It’s nothing big for me to make you the things. I like standing in the kitchen and thinking about recipes you might enjoy. I mean, I know it means much to you but... I didn’t know you’d consider it this valuable... As I said it’s nothing special to me. I just want to make you happy.”
“And that is all I want as well.” Shuusei reached his hand out to Hotsuma so that he joined him on the couch. And he was glad that he obeyed his wish and embraced him.
“But... I really feel uncomfortable to receive something this big every other week. I... Shuusei.... I don’t want your money. It’s your time I value highly. Just us being together like this means so much to me. You aren’t free to spend time as you wish. You have many things to take care of. Yet you try to find at least two days a week just for us. That makes me much more happy than all these gifts.”
Now it was Shuusei who had to think. Time... Hotsuma was right. He didn’t have much of that. And this alone meant so much to his boyfriend?
“Let’s go on a date then!” he proposed. “I do not know... You choose where you want to spend time with me?” They hadn’t done anything like this before besides the visit at the botanical garden which wasn’t really a date. When they didn’t spent time with their projects they were mainly here and sometimes at Hotsuma’s. But they hadn’t done anything special since they were together.
“A date?” Hotsuma grinned that bright smile Shuusei loved so very much.
“Is there any place you want to go to with me? I will persuade father to allow me to go out with you. He knows you by now.”
“I... There were so many things I wanted to do with you... And now I can’t think of anything...” he said but Shuusei chuckled.
“It’s okay. We don’t have to go today.”
“The planetarium!” Hotsuma spurted out. “I want to see the stars with you. But it’s so hard in the city with all the lights.”
“Sounds good!” Shuusei smiled. So this was how he could make his boyfriend truly happy. “I’m sorry that I made you uncomfortable with my gifts.”
Hotsuma grinned and leaned over to kiss him. “That’s why we talked about it. And when you want to make me another gift, talk to me before. It’s not like I want to seem unthankful.”
Shuusei nodded. “So you don’t want the phone?”
“Nah! Now I have it.” Hotsuma grinned and hugged his prince tightly.  “Thank you.”

❛  i  never  drink  alone .  it’s  sad  and  depressing .  ❜ shuusei to vicchan <3

It's been a while since they hung out together. Different schedules and different missions were assigned to two men as they've been waiting for the day when their schedules will finally align. Well, it can be said that two weeks was a long time, but for Victor it was longer than he wanted to admit. With how intimidating he seemed to others and how he was approaching missions, not many were willing to come close to him. A foreigner, tall, muscular, to some he looked far more threatening than even Kogami Shinya himself. It was a bit heartbreaking for the Russian, but he couldn't deny that this approach was also for the better of everyone else, including himself.
This is why he laughs when Shuusei comments on his drinking habits. The laughter is bright and honest, coming from his chest as he holds a glass with his sister's brandy. She left it here, so he welcomed himself to drink it on his own while reading and spending his time alone. How dare his best friend and newfound brother say something like this when he saw Sokolov was already drinking when he joined in? What audacity! Not that he cared, it was fun. Shuusei never disappointed and it warmed up the man's heart to finally have someone who could care less about statuses, nationality, and so on. A breath of fresh air, a fellow Sun finally appeared from behind the clouds of this mundane reality.
" You're an asshole, Shuusei, " the man shakes his head and sets his glass on the coffee table. The book he was reading is also placed on the table next to his glass. The bottle of brandy is closed as he didn't spend much time drinking, instead of being engrossed in the literature. Unlike his fellow Enforcer, he wasn't that aware of comics and simple literature, surprising being in far more complicated and deep reading. Like sister, like brother. " Are you calling my enjoyment of a fine drink sad and depressing? " It's all in good fun. The smirk on Kagari's face shows that it's a friendly banter that Sokolov is more than happy to join.
With another laugh, he leans back against the cushions on the couch. His room is filled with classics alongside the wood carvings he's taken as a hobby. He rarely has guests over in his place, Shuusei being the constant visitor aside from his older sister. It's strange, but it's far more practical than you'd expect. Some of the training equipment, a cabinet filled with books and notebooks, some things Zarina got him from the job, and some things he'd gotten from going outside of Tokyo thanks to his twin sibling as well. If not for her, he wouldn't have such a small yet diverse collection of trinkets to color his room and be able to get it for himself. He knows for sure Shuusei won't be interested in the literature, but maybe they could look at the souvenirs and pictures of the outside together.
" I bet your ass you'll get drunk off this brandy in less than two glasses, Shu. Do I really want to have your drunk ass in my room? " He shrugs, looking away from his friend. It's a taunt, a joke, a tease. He's not holding back his mischievous words. " Fuck no. Do you know how annoying you are when you're drunk? Oh man, I should've recorded it and sent it to Zarya, she would've had a field day. " Like a kid, the man sighs out loud, the exaggeration is obvious with how he moves the bottle away from the lion's reach. " I'd rather be a sad and depressing man than a babysitter. "
Victor isn't going to forget this line from his brother. Oh no, he is just as petty of a motherfucker as his sister. However, since it is Kagari himself, it won't be remembered for malicious intent or anything negative. It'll just remain an inside joke shared between two men.
" Well, lucky for us both, I have something that we'll both enjoy. You in? Save me from the miserable time drinking alone. "

Shinkane Week Day 6: Fantasy AU
Can also be read on AO3!
Rating: T
Fandom: Psycho-Pass (crossover w/ The Witcher)
Pairing: Shinkane (Kogami/Akane)
Characters: Shinya Kogami, Akane Tsunemori, Shuusei Kagari, Haruki Shirogane
Summary: When a contract leads the witcher Shinya Kogami to a rundown castle, the last person he expects to run into is a certain sorceress.
A/N: Content warning for references to sexual assault (Very distant and roundabout, but the references are there nonetheless). Further, less necessary author’s notes can be read on AO3.
“Ko.”
“Hm?”
“You said we were off to a castle.”
Kogami spared a glance at Kagari, and found him frowning up at the dilapidated castle in front of them. He already knew what the bard would say. “No, I said I was following a contract sent out by a lord.”
“Lords live in castles, right?”
“Kagari, you didn’t need to be here.”
“And miss out on lavish residence? In a castle?” Kagari sounded indignant, and Kogami imagined he looked it too, if he weren’t set on not sparing a glance to his companion.
“You’re more than welcome to leave,” he muttered, dismounting from Roach and handing the horse off to a stablehand. “I’m sure you have more exciting places to be.”
“No need to undersell yourself, Ko, I get all my best material from you!”
Kogami didn’t grace Kagari with a response. Not that the bard needed a response - he could find ways to keep talking when he wanted to. But as they made their way to the battered doors of the castle and were led through the dark, grimy halls, Kagari seemed perfectly willing to pipe down. He kept close to Kogami, who was able to see perfectly well in the dark, his cat-like eyes allowing him to see their servant guide even from a few feet away.
They were led to the grand hall, though “grand” seemed a bit generous. It was certainly cleaner than the rest of the castle, the windows allowing a bit of the late afternoon sunlight in. But it was one of the smaller throne rooms Kogami had been in, the distance from the doors to the thrones easily crossed in a few strides. He was still mindful to keep some distance between himself and the lord who lounged in his throne, looking awfully bored for someone who had sent out such an urgent request.
“Ah, Shinya Kogami, the Grey Wolf,” Lord Shirogane drawled, finally sitting up on his throne. “So good of you to join us.” He grinned at Kogami, who remained silent, his clenched jaw belying the respectful downcast of his eyes. “I suppose the rumors are true about you Witchers...awfully spare with your words, aren’t you?”
“We aren’t hired for our turn of tongue,” Kogami murmured, “...Your Grace.”
“That you aren’t.” Lord Shirogane’s eye fell on Kagari, the bard unabashedly taking in his surroundings. “And who is this?”
“Ah-”
“His assistant,” Kagari cheerfully answered, earning an annoyed look from Kogami that he was only too happy to ignore. “Just here to help out with his Witchering!”
“...I see.”
“Your Grace,” Kogami finally cut in, “the contract you sent out sounded urgent. The sooner you are able to tell me all you know, the sooner I will be able to clear out the problem for you.”
“Ah yes, our little problem.” The reminder of the contract seemed to sap Lord Shirogane of all urgency, making him wilt back into the repose he had been in when they arrived. “It would seem there’s a ghost disrupting the servants.”
“A...ghost?”
“Mm.” To his limited credit, Shirogane looked just as annoyed as Kogami felt over contracting a witcher for such a menial thing. “The whole lot of them have tried everything they could think of, all sorts of occult and religious rituals. I couldn’t be bothered to care about any of it, but their sightings have started interfering with their actual work.”
“Meaning…” Kogami did his best to choose his words carefully, something that was never his strong suit. “You sent out a contract on behalf of your servants?”
“I sent out a contract on behalf of saving what shreds of efficiency I had left in this place,” Shirogane snapped. “Nothing was getting done with them jumping at every shadow and noise.”
He was lying. That was as plain as anything to Kogami. The man wouldn’t send out a contract for a witcher just for the sake of his servants. If productivity were really the problem, he almost certainly would have turned to a more...martial punishment. No, Lord Shirogane must have seen the “ghost” himself, and the battle between his pride and his nerves had clearly ended unfavorably for him.
Still, as much as Kogami hated nobility, he had enough experience dealing with them to know that calling their bluff was rarely worth the satisfaction. “And, ah...have they told you anything about what their encounters were like? I need any information that can help me identify the creature.”
As he’d expected, Lord Shirogane was able to provide details that no servant would relate to a lord. Not the Kogami cared. All that mattered was that he was able to properly classify what the “ghost” was: a penitent. It explained the strange darkness that seemed to linger over the castle, and the random encounters that had paralyzed the castle’s occupants with fear.
One last question lingered for Kogami: what had caused one to appear? A penitent was a rare type of wraith to encounter, arising only to haunt those who had committed the gravest crimes. He didn’t need to know the crime in order to drive the wraith away, nor did he think he would get any further explanation from Lord Shirogane. But as he left the throne room, Kogami felt a visceral disrespect for the lord rising bitter in his throat.
Kagari, to his credit, had been surprisingly quiet for much of the exchange...suspiciously so, in fact. While Kogami made his way towards the cellar, all he could hear of the bard was his footsteps, his heeled boots gratingly loud in the dour castle. It was only when they were faced by the ethereal smoke creeping out of the cellar that he finally piped up.
“Wow, would you look at that? You know what, Ko, I think I’m feeling plenty inspired!”
“Oh, are you?”
“Absolutely! In fact, I think I’d better go and...act on that inspiration.”
“Well, don’t let me stop you.”
And so Kogami found himself alone in an old cellar, surrounded by dark smoke that seemed to get thicker the further he went. The smell of spectre oil wound through the tendrils of smoke as he applied it to his silver blade, ready to use it at any moment.
His ears were waiting for the suction of air that preceded a wraith’s arrival, or the eerie sound of its corrupted cries. What he didn’t expect to hear were the low, familiar tones of a certain sorceress.
“Hello, Kogami.”
He whirled around. He had smelled the lilacs and gooseberries, but he didn’t want to believe she could be here.
But there she was. Her black dress and cloak would have let her blend in with the shadows of the dark cellar, but she didn’t wear the hood, and her pale skin and brown hair looked almost eerily disembodied in the dim light. “Tsunemori...didn’t expect to see you here.”
“What exactly are you doing here?”
“Answering a contract, doing my job. What about you?”
“A contract?” Akane repeated, smoothly ignoring his question. Her face, usually open and kind in a way that was unusual for sorceresses, looked hardened somehow, and at Kogami’s words, her eyes narrowed in suspicion. It was a strange look on her, and it made Kogami nervous. “A contract for what?”
“Servants saw a wraith. Tsunemori, what’re you doing here?”
“Let’s say I’m here for the wraith as well. What did the servants hear, exactly?”
“Let’s not say you’re here for the wraith,” Kogami bit out, “Let’s say you tell me the truth. Why are you here, Tsunemori?”
“I am telling the truth,” Akane snapped. “I’m here for the wraith. I...I know who she is.”
“What?” They had been gravitating towards each other as they spoke, but at Akane’s revelation, Kogami suddenly stepped back. “How do you-?”
“She’s Yuki. Yuki Funahara. She was a servant girl who worked for Lord Shirogane, until...until he…” Her voice caught, and just like that, the hardness in her face melted away to reveal grief, raw and terrible. The pain on her face made Kogami reach out to her, instinctively wanting to smooth away the lines of grief, but it was her turn to step away. “She killed herself after what he did to her, and they didn’t give her a proper burial. I’m here to help her pass on in peace...and to ruin him.”
“Akane-”
“She was my friend. Before I left to become a sorceress, she was my best friend. She wanted so much from life, and instead…” Her voice was harsh around the edges, and again Kogami longed to run his hand down her throat and rub away the broken notes. “I could have killed him by now, but that would be too easy. I am going to make him feel a pain that will consume him, rob all his joy until he is left with the agony, make sure he feels a fraction of what he did to her. I won’t shorten his life, but I will make sure every moment he has left is filled with nothing but torment.”
The new information was surprising - it was hard for him to imagine the powerful sorceress coming from such a humble background, especially from a backwater town like this - but he couldn’t focus on that. Kogami was often called a wolf, but in that moment, Akane was the wild one. Her anger burned bright, her eyes shining clear with the justice she had planned, and he knew nothing he could say would stop her. And he didn’t want to stop her. “Do what you have to. But Akane, when our work is done, leave with me. Leave this place behind. Rest easy with your justice, and leave it to do its work.”
Whatever Akane had been expecting him to say, it wasn’t that. Her anger was momentarily replaced by surprise, then relief...and then, finally, she stepped close. Her hand was cold against his cheek, but that didn’t stop Kogami from leaning into her touch, his golden cat-eyes greedily drinking in the acceptance on her face. “Thank you, Shinya.”
Her kiss was short, just long enough for him to register the soft touch of her lips to his before they were gone. When his eyes fluttered open, she was standing just outside of his reach again. “Wait, where will you-”
“I’ll find you,” she answered, correctly guessing his half-formed question. A small smile quirked at her lips, filled with a strange mix of mischief and reassurance. “Better get to work, Kogami. I’ll see you soon.” She tugged her hood over her head, and in a blink, she was gone, the scent of her perfume the last trace of beauty in the dark cellar.

ARE YA READY FOR CRINGE KIDS?!
Aye aye captain!
I CAN’T HEAR YOU!
Aye aye captain!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH...
ʀɑiʝiɳ, ℓєα∂єя σƒ тнє ησятн
Sooooo once upon a time I ran an InuYasha site (shut up). Two, actually, one that had canon characters (but deleted the canon story, basically) and one that was world only, in a different time setting. Raijin was part of the second one, which, sadly did not last long. Despite this, I had loads and LOADS of plans and plots for him set up so even though not many got far, I had plenty of ‘scenes’ I could recreate for him here. The downside of Rai is that he’s really so specific to his world that I’ve found it impossible to port him in any other universes without gutting his character. I did it once, but he was barely the same.
He was, generally, not a great person (fantasy-racist, lazy as fuck, kinda grompy), so even though he liked interacting with others, they likely didn’t like interacting with him, which brought me to create his adopted daughter, Hanae, as his ‘morality pet’, basically. I played both of them in-tandem in posts with his daughter as the ‘social lubricant’ to keep people from flipping him off and leaving, basically. He’s one of my most family-oriented OCs to date, with his parents also being reoccurring NPCs in his posts, as well.
He is also, hands down, the most overpowered character I’ve ever made. His ability to amplify electricity is ridiculously strong, so much so that if you touch him it’s like getting an incredibly strong static electricity shock (this has made situations with his lovers hilarious, I will admit). As long as he stayed at range he was definitely a one-man-army, firing off lightning bolts at huge crowds. He wasn’t BAD at melee, but definitely nowhere near as good as his ranged.
He had everything from a lover he resented for what she was and bitter sibling rivalry with a younger brother, to a bastard son that wanted him dead and an unrequited love for another territory leader. He was one of my most lore-heavy characters I’d ever made as well, with tons of background characters and stories behind them, to a whole written mythological origin story of his clan’s people. He is still one of my favorite OCs to this day and even now, sometimes I’ll think of something to add to his story and I’ll open up his word document to add a few lines.
Tagging @salemssimblr so they can see another RP sim disaster man.
