Chapter Nine: Dawn and Midnight Paranoia by OrangeLetters88~
Tumblr media
"Were going to be meeting two famous late night talk show hosts of Midnight Paranoia, plus we doing a pact with them because it is very hard to get one scheduled with them." Steele shouts excited more than usual.
"Sounds nice to me, getting out would be really nice after the ordeal I went through." He replies nervously shaking. She puts her hands on his to get them to stop. "Sorry...I am not okay. Now were okay. I mean I feel better, but I feel for now I still feel scared. I...I was so scared Steel!"
She tips his head on her shoulder. "I am so sorry it took so long to find you. We almost had no leads. Forgive me."
"No...you are fine. I forgive them, but they really messed with me. I want to hate them so badly, but I can't...everyone is so messed up inside I realize now." He places his palm on face trying to not to cry.
"Shhh...it's okay Alex...this is not something to come out of easily. What happened became your life for what was a month. A lesser man would be destroyed by this, but you came out on top." Steel says trying to comfort him.
"What's worse is Alice barely recognizing me. It was a nightmare and I tried so hard to ignore it because if I did try to convince her I would surely go mad..." He pours his heart. It is so heavy with grief. " I have a trouble looking at blood right now. It makes me sick to my stomach, but I can't tell anyone."
"Alex, calm down please! I promise you are safe now and we will take care of you on the trip okay?" Steel almost in tears from seeing Alex lost in what happened. "Please...calm down."
"I will be okay..." Alex replies upset breathing in and out slowly holding his chest with eyes closed. Christian comes out stretching his arms.
"I couldn't sleep. You two are out are early this morning." He said yawning.
"Christian...I have one request of you and Alice please..."
"Yeah, what's up man?" Christian responds confused.
"Never call me Master. I mean never ever never! I am no one's master." He replies miserably.
"You are brother, my bud, my mentor, my friend. After all the bullshit we been through I am sure you see us as equals." Christian responds lighting a cigarette.
"When did you start smoking?"
"I always have, but with everything I picked it back up due to stress. I have never had to be a detective before. You know the best part is when we couldn't make a perfect plan..." Christian explains slightly muffled with the cig in his mouth pointing to his head. "I thought well think like Alex and walk in like at Coopers."
"I should expect that...I am not really a good influence, am I?"
"No brother, you teach me to put it forward. Life isn't like some movie on the big screen, but I am sure you learned that pretty quickly as well." Christian counters taking another hit of the cigarette before putting it out. "Most of all I missed you and Alice. I was by myself even though I am with Mars, but it just felt empty is all."
"He wouldn't stop chain smoking. Had a hard time to get him to go hunting for prey or taking blood. He was much too worried."
"Steel, shhh. I have had blood since then. I knew if I got weak I couldn't help you Alex..." Christian says a little embarrassed. "Anyways we will be leaving soon. I volunteered switches with Clarence for driving since it's awhile away."
"Where is Colleen at?" Alex questions.
"Because of you she wants to make good on her life with her human father. We will see her when she is back..." Steel confirms.
Mars comes out with a backpack full of clothes running to the car. Alice follows behind with a small suit case and Clarence carrying a full carry on with wheels at the bottom. "You guys are much too excited." Steel laughs recalls she hasn't fully packed her bags and darts to the room.
Alex sluggishly makes his way to the room he was staying to pack. "Alex, please package the vials of blood? They will only last a day so we need a scrubber and insert brushes to wash them as well!" Alice shouts from the doorway.
After he packs he makes his way to the storage room. He takes a deep breathe seeing the vials packed in a long square of ten on the rack. The bubble wrap in squares to the side in a rogue box that is tilting.
His hands shake; he brings his hand to chin wondering if he should say he is busy and needs someone else to get the vials. Some reason he can feel himself hyperventilate the closer he gets. He stoops as he tries to pull it together, but passes out.
Moments later he is looking up at Steel who came too late. "Don't tell anyone Steel. I got to find a way to get over this. I feel like a failure of a vampire now."
She helps him get up on his feet dusting him off. She wraps the vials and sticks them in a sealed box to keep them from view. "I should have gotten the vials instead of you. I knew, but was a little per-occupied."Steels says blushing.
"I will think I will just wait in the car." He gets in the car taking the window spot so he could lean into the window. The car ride is hard on him due to being trapped in a small space. He tells himself it's only temporary.
Half way there they stop to get gas and stretch. Steel walks when she is pushed by a robber, she does a quick back flip kicking him on his butt with just a push of her leg and snatching him by the back of jacket.
The lady comes out shocked. "Are you a performer?" She says on the cell phone with the police.
"I accidentally did that on reflex, but glad you are safe at least." Steel replies nervously. Steel hands money for the fuel and takes off before any cops come.
"Why are we popping off so fast? Shouldn't we wait to take report?" Christian questions Steel who seemed guilty driving off.
"Most of the cops in this area are already suspicious of vampires. I tend forget you are new, but never stay long in any area...one knows me very well. I am not looking forward to seeing him."
"Oh...so what happens if they realize you are vampire?" Christian replies even more curious.
"We will never be able to retrieve you. We call these cases clean cut disappearances even though we know what they are. Usually they become brainwashed slaves like K-9. They have their own case squad once identified."
Christian shivered at the thought of it. Alex covers his head with hands. Alice semi wraps her arms around him when she observes him dunking into his arms. He looks at her with a smile. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I just can't wait till we get there is all."
"The smell of new blood is enticing." Clarence interrupts envisioning causing him to slick his back.
"Calm down Romeo. Not even there yet and you are already thinking about it." Steel says pinching his arm.
"I can't help it; fresh blood tastes better than old blood for me...I also can't eat food like some of you!" Clarence points out to Steel. She pulls in to a hotel. Their room is a shared with four beds, two to each room.
"We have rules when I do trips. We travel in pairs, when we meet Joshua and Alan we will all be together. This town is huge and known for kidnappings and killings due to the high volume of tourists it gets down here! "Steel lays down the rules for Alex's group.
Mars looks around a little till he takes notice of Clarence gone. "Steel, your man is gone."
"He what?" Steel shouts running out the door with her card key. Mars ends up laughing before stopping.
"Christian, want to get a bite with me?" Mars asks kicking his feet out. Christian gets his jacket on his way out patting Alex's head. Alice follows behind leaving Alex in the joint room by himself.
He drops on the bed face first with his hands out. "I don't want to be here...I don't know where I want to be..."
The television flickers on by itself. "Hello my name Joshua! And my name is Alan! This is Midnight Paranoia. We got back from break so let's start at new caller. Hello who is this? What exactly have you come here for today?"
"Hi, umm well you see well first off my name Dawn. I am right outside your door Alex..."
Alex scrambles to open the door. "Hello Alex. It's been a very long time. I knew you were coming."
He shuts the door behind hearing it click behind, but also knows Mars and Steel have the keys.
"Dawn, what's going on? Why now?"
"Because..." She said giving him a small kiss on the lips. "I saw a vision something bad is going to happen in the town. I need your help."
"My book is inside...I accidentally locked myself out." He cries. "Also how did you do that? Vampires can't do that? Can they?"
"Before I became a vampire I was on my way to becoming a witch so I know a little up my sleeve, but it's slowly fading. I am out of practice now. Being a vampire already expands most of my energy..." Dawn replies.
She takes his hand and runs. "Where are we going?"
"To Midnight Paranoia, I have tickets for the backdoor bang!"
"Backdoor bang, what in the world is being carried out at something called backdoor bang?
"It's literally where we drink blood and chill. Come on like old times!" She says when he drops her hand. He stands still; he expresses horror instead of interest.
"Look right now I am not hungry; I will go sniff my clan mates out." He replies walking the other direction.
"How can you not be hungry in this place? It is a paradise of human tourists. What happened to you?
"I don't want to go into it today Dawn. Maybe another time..."
"I mean you are locked out anyways. Just come and join me." Dawn laughed.
He gives up and comes with her after much pleading. It seems maybe she just missed his presence. The hotel was surprisingly not far from the late night crowds of college students on spring break shouting at the DJ who making beats literally on a cherry picker. Strobe lights, party lights and beams of colored lights mixing and matching with each other in the chaos of weed smokers, bongs and dancers.
The whole scene is a wild affair to Alex. You could not tell a human from a vampire in this display of madness. He wondered if Steel and Clarence was attracted to these events and why?
Walking through the crowds he would spot some people looking directly at him before glancing away. Making it to a back door, walls covered for soundproof from the outside. Dawn flashes the tickets.
Two twins sit there with their legs crossed in position from each other. They are dressed down in silk blouses and black leather pants. Their sexuality there on display pouring blood from a large label-less bottle tinted green.
"I am Joshua! Welcome to the backdoor bang. Judging your boyfriends expression he never been here before or been anywhere like living a den..." He says examining Alex before lighting up a cigarette.
"Oh no he isn't a boyfriend, but why do you say?" Dawn says laughing taking a seat.
"My name is Alan and lately we just get horny groupie girls. It's nice to see an actual fellow vampire want to drink with us."
"No one suspects?" Alex asks. Alan lights his bong reclining back.
"We pay them off. They don't care about us or the show plus we get ton of girls who would volunteer to give us blood anyways. The heat of the moment gets them off ya know?" Joshua replies proud. "But we will never turn them. No matter how much they beat on me. Their yells of disappointment often echo late into the morning when we tell them, but no one hears their pains."
"Share a drink with us!" Alan says giving them wine glasses. Alex pushes his glass away. Dawn gladly accepts. "Come on...it's not every day or is there another reason?"
"N-nothing is wrong. I just am not feeling it." Alex almost stutters. Joshua gets up touching his face.
"Those black rings tell me otherwise. You had been starving yourself, but most likely only a couple days at most."
"There is something you don't want to talk about?" Dawn questions never noticing.
"Hey I am not judging, but most vampires go into a rage by default without it."
"I am sorry; I can't be here at the moment. Thank you for the hospitality. Good day Dawn." With that Alex makes his way out the door to get a breath of fresh air. He walks around to sit at the tables further away from the crazy club in front a local bar and radio DJ station.
Not drinking blood has made him feel weak, he could practically see a female tourists veins. Her sweet smell enticing as a flower in the full bloom in the noon sun, she walks away when someone practically knocks him over.
"Clarence! Put the bottle down already!" Steel shouts pissed.
"Steel!" Alex stands up catching Clarence drunk off his ass. He settles down. His head tips forward. He drops the wine smashing the bottle against the hard cement.
"He has been getting drunk like a mad man throwing him off his straight game. The prey isn't even hard prey. Girls are easily swayed for well-dressed onlookers."
"Let's bring him back to the hotel."
A crowd screams, the cherry picker knocks on to its side wrecking expensive equipment along the way. A couple people are pinned under the cherry picker. The DJ seems to be breathing on the ground. People are frantically on their cells calling for 911.
"We need to get back now. We shouldn't interfere in human affairs plus you are in no condition to help them yourself."
They drive back to the hotel. Getting inside it seems they are all alone. Mars, Christian and Alice seem to be out still. Steel loosens Clarence's tie tossing it on the floor with his gloves and setting his jacket on the chair.
Steel sits down in the chair beside Clarence. "Look Alex we need to talk about this food avoidance problem."
"Steel...please."
"No, I need you to talk to me. What can I do for you? You can't keep it up forever."
She hands him a small vial. Alex looks up at her not wanting to deal with this subject. He opens the vial shaking downing a small amount before it comes back up making him run to the sink. Steel pats his back sympathetic.
"Edwin and Joseph did really horrible things to you did they?"
His eyes began to tear up as he lifts his facing the mirror. "I want to forget...I just need time Steel. Hopefully it clears up soon. I will drink soon I promise, but please don't force me anymore." Alex bows his head over the sink.
"Don't overdo it. We need to meet people in a couple days' time. Stay healthy Alex..."
Clarence stumbles over to the bathroom. "I-I am o-only a little drunk Steel my love..." before throwing up everything in his stomach on the floor. Steels dress now covered in throw up and blood.
"You bastard, this is one of my favorite dresses!" She says pulling him over the toilet seat pulling back his hair. Alex helps hold up Clarence. Mars, Christian and Alice come back plopping down on the beds.
Alice walks over to help Steel with Clarence who is evidently very drunk back to his bed. He will continue to sleep deep through the night and most of the day to recover.
Day two and takes Clarence almost all day to recover. He wakes up being forced into shower and brushing teeth to clean up. He irons his blazer and makes sure his white gloves are pressed to perfection. His pants have to be cleaned; he has to change his shirt under causing him a bit of panic.
"You are such a neat freak for someone who got that shit faced last night." Christian laughs while he irons out wrinkles.
"Don't make fun of me. I need to be dressed and ready to go. My suit is my whole personality. It is my intimidation tactic."
A knock on the door has Alex look first. He notes it is Dawn again. "Looks like my nightly activity has arrived so looks like I will be out a little. Don't wait for me!" Alex says nervously squeezing the door.
This time he takes her hand running down the corridors and down the elevator. He huffs after they get far. "I wanted to say sorry about before..."
"Nothing to be sorry about, I just have a lot going on in my mind."
They walk together just catching till she stops. "Look...I have something you tell you."
Alex pushes her out of the way throwing himself in front of the arrow. He cries out, a man comes from the shadows. "I am guessing you mean this is what you wanted to warn about..."
The man dressed in olive green shirt with leather jacket and dusty jeans. Forcefully takes the arrow out. Dawn gets in front with her hands out. "Darren, I thought we discussed you need to stop aiming it recklessly."
"Oh I see..."He said pacing around Alex. "She hasn't told you has she?"
"He needs help you jackass! Can't this wait another time?"
"No, that arrow was edged blade so he is probably going to die if he bleeds anymore, but at least he will know."
"Know..what?" Alex grunts on the ground leaning against Dawn holds his arm where the bladed arrow unwillingly was taken.
"She is labeled a traitor." He said aiming another arrow into his leg. "She killed pappy, his ashy corpse a symbol of our operation not too long from here."
"Darren...stop please..."
"Stop what? You almost got him when he went into the backdoor bang session, but he decided to leave."
"Wait...that was a rigged operation then, you and Dawn...I..." Alex gets up with a severe limp.
"But we can no longer let you leave because we have told you about the rig. Why do you think it's not common for vampire to go to backdoor bangs?"
Alex darts for it even though his chances small he would survive. "I will not be held captive again. I would much rather die."
Darren launches another arrow into his back sending him to the ground. "That explains a lot."
Another arrow is fired and caught. "And here I thought fang hunters were only a legend." Clarence states holding the arrow between his fingers, walking forward he grabs hold of Alex.
"How long were you standing there?"
"I just got here. What do kids call it these days? Spidey senses?" His clear his voice with a smile. Dawn hides behind Darren. "But I know enough that you are Alex's old clan mate..."
"You aren't a normal vampire..."
"No I am not. What do you plan to do about it?"
Clarence walks away slowly with Alex limped over his shoulders. Instead of acting out Darren stays in position, Dawn tries to walk behind. Clarence throws his hand out holding a calling card and letting it drift to the ground.
They get back into the door. "Why are you out without Steel?" Alex asks in pain.
"We had a fight. She went with the rest bar hopping. Stop asking me stupid questions! I should be asking why you were alone and with a fang hunter!"
He rips the arrows out and scissors away his clothes allowing for a temporary dressing. Clarence hands Alex two vials of blood after he gets dressed in new top and bottom. "Lately you been acting stubborn, but this no time for that. Blood will help you heal faster."
He downs them immediately holding his mouth so he doesn't throw up allowing it to go down he can feel come back up through his throat, before long everyone is getting back through the door when he throws it up passing out.
Steel runs to Alex. "Why is he covered in bandages?"
"We need to cancel the plans for the meet. This town is full of fang hunters. Alex was lured by a bait vampire..." Clarence explains. Alex lifts his hand.
"I am not out of it. It was just a second...my old clan member killed Pappy."
He gets up leaning into the wall. Alice touches his shoulders lightly. "At least you learned who it was..."
"I have to face Dawn and the fang hunter before this is all over. I suggest everyone pack their stuff." Alex shouts. "We will find a lower standing motel further in the meantime."
"You won't be alone this time. We are all in this together." Clarence confides.
"After what happened we all know you are having a hard time dealing with some issues Alex...you don't have to hide them anymore..." Christian softly replies.
Alex turns around to face them. "I am your mentor Alex! I would never let something get worse well worse than the last situation..."
Mars starts to pack everything up. "I will be your drive. I have not really activated my serpent entity, but more than willing to do my part."
"I have an idea where the ashes are...but now they know of us...they aren't going to play pretty." Alex hobbles over to his phone.
"You nearly got killed. You can barely move! What do you plan to do?" Clarence asks confused.
"That's why I am bait...but you have to trust me."
They packed up making their way to the location Alex pinned as Pappy's place of death. Holding his book on his lap, when they make to the forest edge Alex waves Mars on away from the location.
He staggers to the location. The ground a char black mark in the grass, but the ash long since has been done with rain. "Even when wounded you still tried to find it." Alan says laughing from high in to the treetops.
Joshua and Alan block his way to move. They know he can't run far. "We already know you were picked next in line for vampire leader." Darren states. He slowly walks in holding Dawn with his hands around her neck.
"I already knew you would come. I decided to settle it my way. A single vampire is fruitless. Intimidation depends on sexiness and sometimes on looks even were just cute. I realized I have none of these so I need to rely on my wits." Alex responds pointing at his head. "Plus I came to save Dawn."
A tire wrench hits Alan in the back of the head knocking him out. Clarence comes from behind like the suave man he is. Grasping Joshua's neck from behind, Steel's steel traps are now visible locking them all in.
"Why would you want to save a traitor?" Joshua asks kneeling in front of Alan.
"Everyone deserves a second chance Joshua...vampires of offspring of the sinned of Lilith therefore we bare her cross. Humans are sins of their God. Dawn deserves freedom..."
Alex explains, his flashbacks of how he could kill Edwin and Joseph, but their deeds were mis-understood. They deserved their own happiness despite his suffering.
"You act as though hunting vampire for their fangs is any better." Clarence replies.
Steel positions herself behind Darren bringing her steel strings to his neck till he lets go of Dawn. He activates the crossbow with the customized steak firing into Dawns back. He loads another from his position going clear through her chest.
She reaches for Alex from the ground before her body slowly forms to ash. "Dawn..." He becomes enraged pushing his way to Darren breaking the steel string completely knocking over Steel from her trap unwinding the arena tossing Christian from a nearby tree.
His elongated nails digging into Darren's throat, about to slash his stomach open Steel gets in front taking the hit. His nails sink into her chest. "Remember your humanity, that's what you taught me..."
He snaps out of it catching Steel who loses consciousness. Clarence kicks Darren down making him drop his weapon.  Alan and Joshua seem to back on their feet. "You must feel so proud being baiters..."
Christian and Clarence make their way to the car fast after Alex signals. From the distance Alex watches Dawns body's ashes catch to the wind. His vision fades.
He wakes up in Steels house and walks to the med bay. "Clarence...how is Steel?"
"Steel is fine. You didn't dig too deeply. She has been receiving full care so she will be okay." Clarence says happily.
"I don't know what came over me."
"Grief...grief came over you and that is okay. Killing the fang hunter would not have brought Dawn back. Steel was right to intervene."
"Yeah...while Steel is healing Christian and Alice need to settle last humanely affairs back in their town then we will back here. Please take care of Mars till were back. It shouldn't be long."
"No worries, it about time they realize this is their life now..."

~♥ PRIVACY PLEASE ♥~
[Okay, here we go. Here’s the thing. I’ve watched Moulin Rogue twice in less than twelve hours in preparation for this. I hope you’re not expecting gifs, because the myriad of emotions a certain someone will be feeling is not conducive for gifs. Okay.
So, when Lucy showed up to the Stove/Maddox place, we had a bright and shining Maddox, all excited until Lucy held out her copy of Moulin Rouge, and then we got a groan, and a ‘I really hoped you were gonna forget about that.’, to which Lucy replies ‘Nope, I’d never forget about Moulin Rouge’. So, she wasted no time in setting the thing up, and meanwhile Maddox was grumbling to himself on the couch.
As soon as the thing was beginning, and Nature Boy was being sung, she sat down beside him, she gave his shoulder a little shove.]
You’re gonna like it. Shut up.
Says you. [Is what he says with a lip up-turned in disgust, though he wraps an arm around her and pulls her close to his side through it.]
[Christian was now giving his introductory monologue, and, given how many times Lucy had seen this movie in the past, she was quietly quoting the thing under her breath, bUT, the words ‘The woman I loved is dead’ came from Christian’s mouth, and there was a scoff from Maddox.]
Oh, she dies. Great. Not only is it a musical, it’s a sob story musical. That’s awesome. [Sarcasm af, probably an eye roll.]
It’s a good story. Stop your judging.
~The love interest dies~~~ It’s a great story, Maddox~~~~.
Watch the movie before I make you sit on the floor.
[A ‘hmph’ from Maddox as he settles further into the couch as if to say ‘Make me get on the floor. Just try it.’ But he does stop the talking (for the time being.) And off the movie goes into the introductions of the Argentinean and Toulouse, and the arguments of lyric changes, and job offers, and ‘Above all things, I believe in love’, all without a word from Maddox.
But, as soon as the Green Fairy made her appearance, she could hear just the quietest ‘.. thefuck’ from Maddox, which made her giggle.
Still, he watched silently, though tiny glances up to his face showed that his expression all throughout the introduction of the Moulin Rogue itself was one of pure confusion. Like, he didn’t know what to make of the guy with the crazy facial hair and ladies singing Patti Labelle songs. Which, no, he probably didn’t know what to make of it.
Then the men started singing alongside the ladies, and she could feel him perk up.]
Is that... Nirvana? Are they singing Nirvana in this thing? [Another upturning of the lip.]
Yes, Maddox. It’s Nirvana.
This is sacrilege.
It’s fine. Don’t be so musically pretentious. [Eye roll.]
[More dancing, and more dancing, and some can-can-ing, and some Christian moving around the place, and some Toulouse beckoning him, and then we have the Sparkling Diamond herself appearing on screen, singing about girls’ best friends, and all that. aND THEN, Narrator!Christian mentions the less savory character in this movie. There went his face. Maddox has something to say about this.]
Who’s that asshole, Lucy? He looks like a mole rat with a mustache. He looks stupid.
Christian’ll tell you if you stop talking~.
[’The Duke’ comes from Narrator!Christian’s mouth just as soon as Lucy says that.] ‘The Duke’. Sounds like a douche. I don’t like him.
[Lucy snorts, because boy does he have good judgment. Off goes more singing, and off goes ~Harold telling Satine about said Duke man, and there goes the mix-up with Christian and the Duke, and the dance time with the Christian man, all the sex-mix up talk, and the rest of the song, and doWN SHE GOES OFF THAT TRAPEZE, MY DUDE.]
Oh, cool. So, she’s, like, sick. Right. Got it. Great story so far, Luce.
I’m gonna kick your ass if you keep judging it before you’ve seen the whole thing, sweetie~.
[This shuts him up for a few more minutes, at least. Now we’re with the lovely couple up in the elephant, and Christian is being himself, and talking about poetry while Satine is talking about sex. Nervous af Christian, rolling on the floor Satine. ‘It’s a lil bit funny’ ya know.]
Elton John too. This movie has it all, doesn’t it?
It’s g r e a t.
[Now, Lucy loves this part of the movie (or any part where it’s overtly romantic, actually. Funny how she loves this romantic stuff so much when just three months ago she was scoffing about love to her brother. hm.), so she’s focusing real hard on it, probably with some doofy grin on, and looking all sparkly-eyed at the beautiful Ewan Mcgregor’s voice, and sighing at how BEAUTIFUL this scene is in general.
Maddox must have glanced down at her love-struck expression, because she heard an ‘eugh’, and then looked away from the screen to look at him.]
What?
You like this? Enough to look like that?
It’s ~romantic, Maddox.
Romantic? [A scoff-laugh as he turns back to the screen.] Yeah.
[She doesn’t respond because this little asshole wasn’t gonna ruin her favorite movie. So, it’s out that Christian’s not the Duke, and now the real Duke has come to chill, and it’s all fun and games trying to get Christian out of the room, but OOp, there’s the bodyguard, and you know the movie, Jerica, I can’t keep writing synopses. You know how it goes. The Duke leaves and comes back, and ohboy now we’re ~rehearsING~. And it’s that repetitive stuff, you know the deal, it’ll run for fifty years, and all that good stuff. And boy do I mean they say that a lot, because it’s effecting our pretentious snot on the couch.]
I think my brain is melting.
They have to sell the idea.
Doesn’t stop my brain from melting. And you know what? This Duke guy is a giant creep. I don’t like him.
You’re not supposed to like him.
Well, I don’t.
Shhhh.
[So, One Day I’ll Fly Away, and all of that. Then we’re onto Elephant Love Medley (AKA, fuck me up. Lucy too. Like I said, any romantic song gets her.) Lucy’s fully immersed, and maybe even leaning in a little bit, and then ‘you crazy fool. I won’t give into you.’. Guess who has something to add?]
Wow, it’s like a conversation with you. I can’t believe you’re in this movie.
Don’t mess up this part. I like this part.
[He doesn’t like this lack of attention on himself, tbh, but he’s gonna stay quiet, and watch the seen, and perhaps get a little immersed into it himself. Lucy’s leaned far forward now, and as soon as the fireworks are going off behind Christian and Satine, she’s crying real tears. It’s just too much, every time. (I sympathize.) This doesn’t escape Maddox’s notice, even though she’s leaning forward now.]
Are you... crying? Are you crying over that?
IT’S SWEET, ASSHOLE.
[Hands up.] Right. Sorry. [He starts pulling her back into his arms.] Come cry over here though, you wimp.
I hate you. [But she goes willingly.]
No ya don’t~.
[Elephant Love Medley has left us, and by this point, Maddox is maybe possibly just a little bit invested in the Satine and Christian relationship. Just a little bit, though. So, here, when we are with Zidler and The Duke, the air of ‘da fuck’ is rolling off of Maddox strong.]
BIND SATINE TO HIM? OH, REALLY? [The Duke’s rant goes on, and Lucy is amused that Maddox has reacted that way, considering he keeps trashing the movie.] Oh, he doesn’t like other people touching HIS things? HIS? Nope. Fuck this guy. He’s gross. I don’t like him.
You already said that~.
I’m just driving home the point. He’s a piece of shit. I don’t like him.
[Lucy just grins and rolls her eyes, because the strong reaction meant he was actually interested in the story. So, she was being proven right, and it was great. So, off the movie goes into the ~montage~ of sorts to show off all the gr8 make out opportunities, and just how blinD af The Duke is.
And onto the 8 o’ clock plans, and the supper oh boy, but she can’t make it to the supper, Duke. She’s got to reHEARSE~.]
That’s right. Ghost his ass.
Would you stop? [But she’s smiling and laughing, because she’s super-amused by all of this, if I didn’t say so before.]
Bye, asshole.
[Lucy decided to let him express himself however he wanted. Like, oh boy. So, there’s more making out, and there’s a Harry, and a Harry’s telling a Satine she’s being cray, and all that. Here comes Maddox again.]
Don’t be a little bitCH, HAROLD. [Lucy snorts a laugh as good ol’ Harry is telling Satine to end the things.] She’s not actually gonna, like, break it off, is she? Luce, that’s bullshit.
I think you should just watch the movie.
uGH.
[Satine is singing and coughing, and our good friend Narrator!Christian has come back, talking about ‘last, fatal days’, and as soon as those words are heard, Maddox’s head drops into his hands, with an even louder ‘uGGGGH’ sound coming from him. Lucy pats his back and then pulls him back up.]
It’ll be alright, hon~.
This movie is fucking dumb.
Mhmmm.
[Now here comes the second worst scene in this whole movie, and you know what it is. Zidler and all his brilliant lies, my dude. Lucy can feel Maddox tensing up beside her, and when she looks up at him, there is nothing but disgust on that face. (Same, Maddox.) It only worsened the further the number goes on.]
I’m gonna vomit. Tell me when it’s over. [He puts a pillow in front of his face. Not joking. Lucy takes the pillow away.]
Don’t be a baby. It’s almost over now.
I can’t even look at this guy’s face.
[And then it’s over, and Maddox is breathing a sigh of relief until the doctor is on the screen saying the bad things. He’s up in arms again.]
He’s nOT EVEN gonna tell her she’s dyING? Selfish asshole, I SWEAR. Dumb ass movie characters in a dumb ass movie. [Irritated sigh af.]
[Next scene af, cold stabs of jealousy, Satine, ‘we have to end it’.]
She is actually doing it are you kidding me. [’i have to sleep with the duke’] You do not have to sleep with the fuCKING DUKE.
Maddox, shhh. Listen to the movie.
You want me to listen to this buLL?
Pay attention~.
[So, he does, though huffy, and now it’s the other scene to make me and Lucy rip hearts out of our chests, and Christian is singing, and now there are loving glances exchanged across rehearsal.]
I’m getting whiplash. Oh my God.
I told you to pay attention~.
[The song is being sung, and Lucy’s giving it her full attention, and Maddox seems to be doing the same thing. He actually looks... interested now? Like, he’s fully enraptured in these lyrics, and what’s going on on the screen, and like he’s deep in thought, and his eyes are SET ON THE SCREEN.
Then Nini has to come in and RUIN THE WHOLE THING. ‘penniless writer, OH I MEAN SITAR PLAYER HUHUHUH’. Maddox sits up.]
THAT. BITCH.
[Full-on laugh from Lucy now as the number ends,  and The Duke starts in on his whole bit, and then Christian says the thing. ‘shE DOESN’T LOVE U’.]
FUCKING RIGHT. TELL HIS ASS. [the duke is going onnnn.] This guy is a dick head. Why do you  liKE THIS MOVIE, LUCY?
I told you. It’s a great movie, Maddox.
It’s a fucking infuriating movie is what it is. I swear to Christ, if the mole rat so much as gets to touch her...
[He trails off, shaking his head. Again, Lucy smiles, because she knows that this all means he’s feeling something about the story. (Even if he does keep interrupting her favorite movie.) So guess what scene it’s time for now??? You know the one.
IT BEGINS, and for a second time, Lucy can feel Maddox tense up beside her. So, she looks up as the Argentinean begins to sing ‘rOOOOXANNE’, and she had never seen him look that MAD in all the time she’d known him. Like, teeth and fists clenched, and all that good stuff. She’s full-on worried about whether or not he’s gonna burst a blood vessel, or something. Because, I’m telling you. The boy is pissed.
And as Christian starts to sing, and there are flashes to Satine and the Duke, a cushion is thrown at the TV.]
FUCK THIS STUPID FUCKING MOVIE.
Maddox, it’s fine. I promise. [She pats his shoulder.]
It’s not even. [And he pulls her back closer into his side.]
It is. [Maybe she realizes he’s projecting onto this a little bit. Just maybe.]
[So, you know what goes on here, and Maddox is wincing, and he doesn’t want to look as it kEEPS GOING, and internally he probably looks a lot like Christian does towards the end of this number.]
OH MY GOD. IS IT EVER GONNA END?? I CAN’T LOOK AT IT ANYMORE.
It’s almost over.
[SO THANKS, IT’S OVER. Maddox slumps, because he’s been tense that whole time.] Oh thank Christ, he knocked him out. [Breath of relief, and Lucy leans on his shoulder, because yup that totally wasn’t taxing on his emotions at all.] Have I mentioned how fucking stupid this movie is?
A couple of times, yeah.
Just checking.
[Next scene, there is a Maddox looking probably more invested than he has through the whole movie, and Lucy is also able to pay attention for the first time in a few minutes, but she could hear him mumbling things like ‘oh what the fuck even is gonna happen now?’ and ‘yeah, running away. bet that’s gonna work’. And once the Duke has given the threat about Christian, there is an outburst of ‘THIS ASSHOLE’, but he immediately settles back down.
Off to Harry telling Satine all of the good stuff, like ‘someone gon get killed’ and ‘oh boy you’re dying’, and then ‘hurt him to save him’, and all that.]
Hurt him to save him? This is buLLSHIT. Let him make his owN FUCKING CHOICE? Harold is a fucKING SHIT.
[Lucy can’t find it in her to answer, because, well, yeah-- he’s not wrong, but oh WELL, just let the poor boy do his ranting and raving.]
Lucy. She’s not doing this shit. She’s not-- this is fucking dumb.
I know. She just doesn’t think she has another choice.
She should’ve just let it be his choice.
She loves him. She doesn’t want him to get hurt.
Hmph.
[He turns back to the movie, and Christian makes his plans to go on back to the good ol’ MR.]
GET HER, YOU IDIOT. FOR FUCK’S SAKE.
[Fun show time, and all that, and more grumbles and grimaces from Maddox. Another cushion is thrown at the screen when the Duke, from the audience, insists ‘she’s mine’, and Lucy moves any other thing around Maddox away from him so he can’t throw anything else.
Christian is with Satine now, ‘pay his bill’, and all that, and Maddox throws his hands up.]
Jesus, what a fucking MORON. [All that fun continues.] I’m gonna scream. I’m gonna.
Shhhh.
[So Christian and Satine are revealed on the stage, and there’s the ‘paid my whore’ bit.]
This is. so. stupid.
[And on goes Christian, and the show must go on, eh? Satine starts singing~.]
It’s the fucking song. [His head goes into his hands again.]
[So that beauty happens, and we have an enraptured Maddox and Lucy again, but then the gun is getting flung everywhere, and Maddox is on edge again.]
Oh, no they’re not. That’s not gonna happen. Lucy. [He looks at her, she avoids looking at him, since she knOWS what happens.] Nope. It’s not. [The duke now has the gun, stalking up upon the the stage.] I’m gonna throw something again. [And then Zidler punches him, yup.]
Harry is gOOD FOR SOMETHING. FOR FUCK’S SAKE.
[The curtain falls, and Maddox is in a false sense of security here. And then the bad thing happens.]
Hold on SHIT.
[Lucy has already started crying, since she knows what’s coming, so she’s not talking to Maddox, and it’s like she’s almost forgotten she was with anyone else. She’s just sobbing to herself, because DAMN THIS MOVIE, i’m crying just writing about it. I hate.
So, there it ends with ‘the grEEEatest thing u’ll eeeeever learn is jUST to love and be loOOVed in reee turrnnnn. And Lucy’s a heap, but brought back to earth by the credits rolling, and by sniffing sounds beside her. She looks over to her boy, and does she see a tear being wiped. You betcha.]
Are you... Maddox, are you crying?
[Like he’s guilty, because he is. He reaches up to get any trace of dumb tears off his face.] NO. No, that was-- I’m not crying. It was just stupid. It was so stupid. I hated it.
No, you are crying. Ohhhh. [She’s teasing him, tbh.]
Fuck. OFF. That was the worst thing I’ve ever fucking seen.
It’s alright, sweetie~.
It’s fucking not. That was-- traumatizing. I never want to see that again.
It’s just a movie, Maddox~.
Give me just, like, five fucking minutes to process what I just saw, okay? [His head is in his hands AGAIN.]
Ooookay~.

But, I'm a Choir Girl? (Trixya) - thevortex (6/14)
AN: thank you to  @trixya-monsoon for being beta for a bit of this. My grammar isn’t great, thank you for teaching me your english ways.
But, I’m a Choir Girl? Part 6 of 14
Their hot, heavy breaths created misty puffs around them, as they continued their embrace. Tongues hot against each other, a warm welcome compared to the bitter cold that was biting at their cheeks. Trixie remembered her time back at her high school, how Kyle would thrash his tongue wildly against her’s and how he would graze his tongue along her neck like a dog. Now, Katya, was different. She was patient, teasing, longing out the finish. Her tongue played gently across Trixie’s, her smoker’s breath mixing with Trixie’s bubblegum to create an alluring combination that had Trixie’s mouth watering. Katya’s hands were placed in the dip of Trixie’s waist, pulling the girl onto her lap, making Trixie smile demurely into the kiss. Katya left her place at Trixie’s lips and scattered small delicate kisses across the freckles on her cheeks, making her giggle. “What if someone comes outside?” Katya shrugged. “Then they’ll see what a pretty pink sight you are.” Her lips moved from Trixie’s cheek to her neck, the soft buds of her lips puckering against the tender skin under Trixie’s ear. Trixie bit her lip and moaned softly, barely above a breath. She tugged gently at Katya’s top. “I’m serious Katya.” “Mhm so am I.” Katya growled in between little nips and gentle sucks of Trixie’s skin. Trixie giggled, battling off the thoughts in her head about how much she should not be doing this, nor enjoying it as much as she was. She wrapped her legs around Katya’s waist, pulling herself in closer to her, arching her back and neck so their bodies were pressed together, and exposing more neck for Katya to explore with her tongue. Her breath was raspy, as Katya found her sweet spot near her pulse point, sucking gently, leaving a trail of small red marks that were going to be a bitch to cover. Trixie resisted the urge to rip Katya’s clothes off, knowing that would be a step too far and would possibly cause her to catch hypothermia. “This is so bad of us Katya.” Trixie sighed, rocking her hips forwards. Katya wrapped her arms around her, bringing her closer. “Mhmm it’s criminal malysh. I’m such a bad girl.” Katya’s deep voice and her Russian accent almost had Trixie creaming on the spot. She squeezed her eyes shut, burying her face into the crook of Katya’s neck, breaking the seal between Katya’s lips and her neck. Trixie rocked her hips again, her moaning muffled. The two girls were craving the friction, and Katya grabbed Trixie’s butt, dragging her to meet her, both of them whimpering softly at the unbearable contact. They were both so desperate, but reality set in. “Trixie we’re going to miss dinner.” “You could just eat me instead?” Trixie couldn’t quite believe what she was saying. She would never have let herself say anything so compromising against her good Christian values, but every inch of her skin was screaming to be touched, every part that was being touched set aflame by Katya’s lips. Trixie would have given anything to be perpetually tortured like this. “Later, I promise.” Katya pulled Trixie back to allow them both to clash lips once more before finally departing, leaving only cigarette butts and wanton wishes behind.
The would-be couple did not think through their arrival to the dining hall. Their hair somewhat bedraggled, cheeks rosy, lipstick smudged. Not to mention they didn’t stagger their arrival. Chests still heaving, they sat down together, gaining knowing looks from the other patients. Mrs Edwards didn’t seem to bat an eyelash. They said grace, both Trixie and Katya glad to have an excuse to touch each other again. Trixie couldn’t quite believe the development herself. The first day fancying her wildly, knowing they could never be. The second day getting so irritated with her she would’ve done almost anything to avoid the girl. Now they were on the third, and all she could think about was how soft Katya’s lips were against hers. She sighed. “So, Katya, you ran off in quite a hurry. Everything alright ducky?” Jerick asked. “Da, I am okay. Parents are not the nicest. Especially Russian parents.” “That sucks. You should try Jewish parents. Considering the Nazis hated both gays and Jews you’d think they’d form an allegiance. Nope. Guess not.” He sighed and picked at his food. “Oh Trixie, you have a bit of red…” He pointed at his cheek. “..right there.” Trixie blushed furiously and grabbed a napkin, frantically rubbing at her skin to destroy any evidence of her previous antics. Jerrick’s eyes flitted between Katya and Trixie a few times, before they widened, and suddenly decided that his food was more interesting to gawk at than the two girls. Katya couldn’t help but snigger as she took a forkful of spaghetti into her mouth.
Once all of the patients had been dismissed to their rooms, Trixie couldn’t help but lie awake in her bed, hoping that she’d have a visit from a certain someone. Her head was reeling. She could still feel the ghosts of Katya’s kisses against her skin. When she touched her neck, it was still tender. Although she had previously blocked the memory of her time with Pearl, now that she had some kind of bond with Katya, she felt that it was okay. She wouldn’t ever tell anyone, God no. But being touched. Being held, and kissed gently. Having someone purr sweet-nothings into your ear was okay. You were allowed to feel wanted, needed almost. She certainly needed Katya. Her eyes fluttered closed and she arched her back into her hand, whimpering at the touch. She could imagine Katya’s breath on her as her mouth would hover over the soft mounds of her breasts that peeked above her satin nightgown. Goosebumps rose from her skin in anticipation as her nimble fingers sped up. If only Katya could see what a writhing mess Trixie was, her eyes scrunched closed, biting her own lip to stifle any moans that could at any moment erupt from her. Her hand glided across herself with ease, her thighs squeezing together as the muscles of her stomach became more and more tense. With her free hand she grabbed a pillow and shoved it over her face, shortly before gushing Katya’s name into its fabric, and permanently ruining her favourite nightie.
In short, Katya never came that night, but Trixie sure did.
The next morning was filled with hushed voices and concerned looks. Mrs Edwards was in a rage, so Trixie made an extra effort to bustle her curls generously to one side, hiding the pretty bruises Katya had painted the day previously. She had missed breakfast by accident, so went straight to group therapy. She sat down next to Courtney. “Why’s everyone being weird?” Trixie asked in a hushed voice. “Aaron and Justin were sent away for ECT.” Courtney replied. “Violet caught them…you know. Doing it.” “Violet ratted them out?” Trixie’s heart suddenly began to speed up. What if Violet had caught them? “Why would she do that?” “I have no clue. Just be careful. She was quite close with Aaron I thought. That’s why we’re all here. So we won’t hear what’s going on downstairs.” Trixie held Courtney’s hand briefly, giving it a reassuring squeeze. “It will be okay, they’ll be okay.” Trixie convincing herself more than Courtney.
The group therapy session involved “demystifying the other sex”. For this, Katya was asked to turn off the lights, and she then sat on the other side of Trixie. Neither of them looked at each other, but both smiled, a small blush rising to the apples of Trixie’s cheeks. Mrs Edwards turned on the projector, flicking through slides, a number of technicolour images flashing up on the screen. “Here we see a woman. Notice how her hair is neat, her makeup is perfected and her dress shows her femininity.” Katya shuffled her chair closer to Trixie’s so that their thighs were touching, only their individual skirts stopping skin-to-skin contact. “Here, we see a man. He is muscular, has facial hair, and wears a flattering suit. The way he stands is a clear indicator of his masculinity, straight, broad shoulders.”  Katya brushed the back of her hand against Trixie’s forearm, causing Trixie to sigh, her hairs prickling at the touch. They were lucky that everyone else was so engrossed in the presentation, so that their little bubble of sapphic secrecy would not be burst. “The man, let’s call him John, notices Mary when at Church. Although he devotes himself to his prayers, he cannot help but notice her when she lights the candles every Sunday at Mass.” Keeping her eyes on the screen, Katya kissed Trixie’s shoulder. Her skin was hot from the sun that trickled through the window. “After Mass, John approaches Mary, and strikes up conversation. Asking questions such as, do you like to read, or do you have any pets? Mary notices how handsome and friendly John is, so answers his questions, creating a conversation which they never want to stop.” “Do you read?” Katya whispered into Trixie’s shoulder, her hand now stroking the exposed skin of Trixie’s knee. “Shhh.” Trixie giggled. “What about pets? Do you like pussy?” Her hand began to rise up Trixie’s leg, her fingers drawing flowers onto her thigh. “Katya what’re you doing?” “Keep your voice down.” Trixie bit her lip at Katya’s sudden dominance, and kept quiet. “Mary agrees to go for dinner with John. They go to a restaurant, and they talk over dinner about their interests. John likes football, Mary likes singing in the choir.” “Sound familiar?” Katya murmured, her lips had moved to ghost over the purple blotches that she was oh so guilty for. Trixie’s heart began to race, she could feel Katya’s hand creep further up her skirt, almost touching her- “Beavers, which is the team that he plays for. She looks at him adoringly, enjoying when he talks. They agree to meet again, this time at her house. She plans to cook him a casserole.” Trixie gasps and grabs Katya’s arm as a finger caressed the fabric of her underwear. Embarrassment washed over Trixie as she realised how wet she must be, and hoped to God that Katya couldn’t feel. Mrs Edwards’ words soon became background, her reality only becoming the pulsing she could hear in her ears, and the shaking breaths of the two girls, excitement getting the better of them. Trixie released her grip on Katya’s arm, and moved to grasp at her skirt, bunching up the material in her fist. She buried her face into Katya’s hair, muffling any ragged breaths that were sure to urge Katya to continue. Katya’s fingertips stroked small circles into her underwear, slowly applying pressure, causing Trixie to attempt to subtly move her hips to meet her touch. By attempt, we mean almost falling off of her chair. Being touched like this, in a room full of people, it was pure sin. Trixie couldn’t deny that the fear of getting caught turned her on more than anything. The lights being turned on again caused the two to pull away from each other as quick as anything. Courtney seemed to have been fully aware of what was going on, as she was struggling to stop her laughing by biting her knuckles. “You two might want to watch out for Violet.” Courtney leant over to say to Trixie, who nodded in earnest, adjusting her skirt so that there was no evidence of the happenings of just a few seconds ago.
The next class lead on quite well from the presentation: makeup class. Courtney was paired with Violet, simply because Katya grabbed Trixie by the elbow and hauled her to a makeshift beauty counter. It was funny to watch them do each other’s makeup. Violet ended up with the least amount of makeup anyone had ever seen her, basically mascara and chapstick, courtney with high eyebrows and dolly red lipstick. Trixie took her time with Katya, sweeping large black lines across her lavender eyelids. And when it came to lipstick, she could feel Katya’s gaze on her as she painted pink onto her gently pursed lips. “You’re staring at me.” “Do you have problem, malysh?” Trixie looked up to see Katya looking at her with kind eyes. “No, are you alright?” “Da, you are just very pretty with my face paint. Red suits you.” “I look like a whore.” “Mhm. How much?” Katya made kissing noises, and Trixie slapped her arm. Mrs Edwards shot them both a look, making the two scoot away from each other an inch or two. “Sorry. I forget we get watched all the time.” “It’s okay.” Their ankles locked under the table. “Oh, I missed a bit, c’mere.” Trixie lifted Katya’s chin with a finger, and touched up the “missed spot”. There was a knock at the door. RuPaul poked his head around the door, scanning the faces until he found Mrs Edwards. “Uhm, Alyssa, there’s been a problem with Mr Coady, you need to come. Now.” “Oh Lord, not again. Okay, uh, Courtney dear, keep an eye? You girls can be good right? No lesbianing.” And with that, the door was slammed, the room void of eyes of judgement. “Trixie?” “Yes?” She put down the lipstick, and met Katya’s gaze. Katya leapt over the table, knocking over numerous bottles and spraying powder everywhere, and cupped Trixie’s face, pulling her in, pink mixing with reds, blending perfectly across their lips.
