#shuichi and kaito's relationship is the glue that holds v3 together and I will die on this hill

I think it's obvious what my favorite ship is at this point but I want to ramble a little

Shuichi x Kaito is EASILY my favorite ship at this point; it used to be saimatsu (don't get me wrong, I still love that one, it probably takes a distant second) but their relationship is what holds v3 together for me

saimota platonically or romantically is insanely good

Kaito is the reason Shuichi got back on his feet after Kaede's death, and kept going in general

the whole sidekick/ hero thing may make it seem like Kaito is out of Shuichi's league in a way, and that Kaito *wants* to be seen by Shuichi as someone unreachable and to look up to but never be on the same level as, then I'll just say that's dead wrong

Kaito is actually relieved to hear that Shuichi sees him like that, a friend or equal, and not just blind hero adoration

Shuichi CAN reach Kaito, this relationship isn't just benefitting him and him alone, he can also help Kaito in turn

I also already made a stupid post a few days ago about how much having Kaito in Shuichi's life helped him grow and change so much for the better and it's pretty painstakingly clear in the game how much Kaito supports and helps unburden the detective, so I won't go too much into that

I kinda wish I was a better and more fluent essay writer just so I could ramble about these kinds of things more intelligently than 'SKKSK LOOK AT THEM THEY'RE SO SWEET AND IMPORTANT TO EACH OTHER SKSJSKNJSM'

but yeah these two are my life

going to put a short list of my other top ships just because I feel like I barely talk about anything other than saimota

2-saimatsu(saihara x akamatsu); I'm tired at this point of people bashing it because it's basic or whatever else but idfc they're sweet and kaede's FTE's will never not make me smile like this girl is trying to so very unsubtly scope out shuichi's interests and it's tooth-rotting fluff sksksk

3-tokomaru(komaru x toko); komaru's and toko's relationship and growth with each other throughout udg is quite literally the best thing about the game to me

4-irouma(iruma x ouma); I- cannot explain why I like this one as much as I do it's just incredibly stupid but the pure energy radiating off these two especially during trials is insane

5-tenkaede(chabashira x akamatsu); girl power- it's pretty self explanatory

I'm just posting this because I want to understand ships better but what is your guys favorite ship and why?
