My Year of Dicks
An imaginative fifteen-year-old girl attempts to get rid of her bothersome vicinity and the annoying assortment of boys who help and hinder her quest.
My Year of Dicks definitely has one of the best titles at this year's Oscars. However, outside of its unique title, nothing else is going for this film. The story is filled with all the tropes that one would expect with a coming-of-age story. However, I will forgive some of it because it's based on a personal memoir. The animation style was one of the saving graces of the film, with its wide range of animation styles. From anime to street art, the film shows a wide variety of animation for each of its short stories. Overall, My Year of Dicks is entertaining for what it is but doesn't really do much for me.
My Rating: B-

*rolls up sleeves* I’ll fight the hype for In a Heartbeat in a parking lot for the things it proves about how little we’ve done in terms of making accessible LGBT media that isn’t either bleachy clean cute or about straight up murder

Valentina Carvajal’s latest single ‘ANDRÓMEDA’ reinvents the greek myth it was based on.
Nearly two years after her debut album, Valentina Carvajal is releasing new music.
Her new single, “ANDRÓMEDA,” dropped Thursday night (at exactly 11:47 pm) after a series of mysterious posters featuring an unknown model began popping up around CDMX, New York, London, Buenos Aires and many more capital cities around the world with the caption “¿Eres tú, Perseo?” Despite not mentioning Carvajal by name, the billboards did include the word ‘VALENTÍNA’ written in them, in addition to the Columbia Records logo. Many fans and media outlets speculate that’ll be Carvajal’s second studio album’s name.
The song has a different vibe from Carvajal’s debut, which followed a pop style. This one is more of an indie ballad, written and produced by Carvajal herself. It comes with a video that features a dream-like beach coast and a melancholic Valentina chasing her freedom throughout the length of the shrot film.
If the leading single is telling of the quality of the entire album, fans and critics alike are in for treat with Carvajal’s upcoming release.

Studio V BOOK Production
Production of my book from this semesters project has begun, this time around I am going with a landscape visual heavy catalogue instead of text/research based like last semester.
Two reasons why I am doing it this way is that it offers a challenge to keep it engaging by only having visuals and minimal text and also I like to think that it's a step up from what I managed to produce last semester.
The other reason is that this is something that is slightly catered to the amount of time that we have remaining for our project. At this point in time I will need to get this finished, proofed and printed by the end of next week, but I might try and aim for the end of this week since we are beginning the important part of post production on Monday.
Even with that said I was thinking of something more visual heavy during the early stages of this project just because it's a short film that is using imagining visuals to tell a story anyway.
I will have a book at the end of this studio which is good because I do want to do them for the remainder of my projects that I'm involved in at BCT. I'll post more updates as I go, the above imagine is my foreword at the start of the book, this was a quick writeup and it might change for the final, not sure yet.
Lastly, not 100% sure if Christian will produce one but if he doesn't it won't matter too much as I do these with the desire to use them as reflection in the future.

Moebious. Vincent Laforet

Laura June:
I'm not sure what it is about this very short film that makes me sad, but I also don't want to spoil it for anyone by trying to explain. The less than three minute film features a cute as can be toy robot, and makes extensive use of Google Street View.
This is a great example of what you can do with equipment (presumably) worth less than 4,000 dollars, a great idea and lots of time.
