There’s a few hints throughout the season that she comes from money (Not “I secretly own the magazine” money, but well-off nonetheless) and so she’s used to “The cops are your friend, always talk to them and they’ll help you out”. That’s the world she personally comes from.

I mean... yes, it’s not even just hinted, but stated she comes from money. she’s got the safety net, her parents are both ‘shrinks’, etc. and yeah, there’s a little bit of comfort from that, maybe? (and i’ve seen this argument in one of the few posts i accidentally consumed before watching) but at the same time... how many rich black people have been like��‘no this happens to me too’? i mean... the cops can’t tell how much money you have when they roll up on you off the street. i’m sure there are some black people out there who have that feeling that cops aren’t the bad guys, but in today’s political climate, with the way its publicized, it just feels like they missed a beat. then to say adena should have run (valid) but kat would feel betrayed by that? rather than understanding that? after adena was already trying to get kat to reel it in? i mean... i can ALMOST see it being in character after trying to tweet freeadena without thinking about the repercussions... maybe it’s in character for her to punch a guy twice her size at night without considering that if he fights back, it’ll be putting herself AND adena in further danger. but i think to do that and then pretty much erase kat’s blackness and the way that would affect how she views the entire situation (both in deciding to punch the guy, trying to walk away from the cops, and in dealing with adena’s so-called betrayal) is missing a pretty big part of the conversation. like it was never even brought up? if she was a white girl, she might have spent the night in jail for assault. that wasn’t really made explicit that she was treated any differently due to her race, but maybe the cops there are just... super good at their jobs and didn’t treat her any differently >.> there was a lot bigger deal made out of the doxxing and rape threats on twitter than about her spending a night in jail.
