Uttar Pradesh is a land of popular monuments and a rich history full of valour and sacrifice, it is also replete with spirituality and divinity and is one of the most visited pilgrimage places for those looking for spiritual holidays in India.
Tumblr media
The soil of the state is believed to be the birthplace of the Hindu Gods like Rama, Krishna, and five Jain Teerthankaras to the place where Buddha gave his first sermon, and also left his body, Uttar Pradesh glows with a spiritual aura that one can witness on their pilgrimage tours here.
Over the years people of different faiths have lived in harmony which is beautifully reflected in the historical monuments that offer much-needed peace of mind in popular, unexplored, or less-explored tourist destinations.
Uttar Pradesh, the emerging tourism hub of India
The state is home to numerous Hindu pilgrimage destinations & has made a record for hosting the largest peaceful religious gathering, the Kumbh Mela. Then there are other religiously relevant places like Vrindavan the land of Shri Krishan & Ayodhya, the birthplace of lord Rama. Both these destinations captivate the pilgrims with their mesmerising idols and spirits, allowing them to seep into this incredible experience.
The state also has a lot of Muslim sacred destinations in various small & popular cities and towns of Uttar Pradesh. Some of the popular Muslim shrines in the state are the Asfi Mosque, Deva Sharif and Dargah-e-Sabri.
Apart from the brilliant Mughal architecture like the Taj Mahal in Agra which is the main attraction of Uttar Pradesh tourism, there are others as well located at other in other cities such as Moti Masjid and Jama Masjid which are a brilliant example of Mughal architecture.
Yogi government’s upgraded Tourism policy to increase tourism in India
According to the new tourism policy of the state, investment-based subsidies have been provided to the hotel industry. The hotel will be given subsidies of up to Rs 2 crore depending upon investments up to Rs 10 crore and a subsidy of Rs 40 crore on investments above Rs 500 crore. The hotels will also be given the status of the industry and hotels will also be paying rates from electricity, property tax, and sewerage tax according to the industry.
All the destinations related to Lord Ram will be developed as part of the Ramayana circuit, and various religious places associated with Lord Krishna will be included in the Krishna circuit. The Ramayana circuit will include religious places like Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, and Bithoor among other religious places.
Places included in the Krishna circuit are Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, Govardhan, Barsana, Nandgaon, Baldev and other religious places and Kapilvastu, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Kaushambi, Shravasti, Ramgram and other places will be part of the Buddhist circuit.
To further give a boost to religious tourism in Uttar Pradesh the new policy has also kaid provision for the Mahabharata Circuit and Shakti Peetha Circuit, which will also include places like Hastinapur, Kampilya, Echhatra, Barnawa, Mathura, Kaushambi, Gonda, Lakshagriha.
Conclusion
The Yogi government has tried to push tourism in the less known places as well, which were not yet included in the category of tourism, have also been included. For a good pilgrim experience the government has focused on budget hotels, heritage hotels, star hotels, heritage, homestays, eco-tourism units, caravan tourism units, pilgrim dormitories, Dharamshala's, wellness resorts, all-weather seasonal camps and many more.

Govt pitches India as land of Buddha to tourists
Tumblr media
NEW DELHI: As more states open up to tourists with a string of safeguards in place, the tourism ministry is lending a helping hand with its “Dekho Apna Desh” campaign and pitching India as the land of Buddha. With an eye on China and Buddhist countries in the neighbourhood, tourism minister Prahlad Patel emphasised the need to bring more Buddhist tourists to India, asking tour operators last week why India receives only a fraction of them. The development of Buddhist tourism, done with an eye on China, which has also invested heavily in infrastructure projects to cultivate Buddhist leaders, has been part of India’s bid to leverage its soft power in the neighbourhood. Earlier this month, PM Narendra Modi had pitched for encouraging Buddhist tourism, emphasising the centrality of India to the Buddhist world and highlighting the need for better connectivity of India’s Buddhist sites. He had also said his government had approved the upgrade of Kushinagar airport as an international one to allow more pilgrims and tourists to visit India. Tourism and culture minister Prahlad Patel, who had presented five volumes of the “Mongolian Kanjur”, a Buddhist canonical text in 108 volumes, regarded as the most important religious text in Mongolia, to President Ram Nath Kovind and the Mongolian ambassador, has since doubled down on India’s bid to print all volumes of the Buddhist canon and provide copies to all monasteries across Mongolia. The tourism ministry has also started promotional activities related to Buddhist sites, including highlighting that the government has installed foreign language signage, including in Chinese, at crucial Buddhist sites like Shravasti, Sarnath, Kushinagar and Sanchi, where a large number of Buddhist tourists come. Though the coronavirus curve is still rising in the country and caution is key, promoting economic activity — of which tourism is a crucial sector — is also critical. In Uttarakhand, tourists need to register and have a certificate confirming a negative test for coronavirus for permission to travel. Armed with this certificate, tourists will not be quarantined. Hotels will administer the RT-PCR test on guests who have not been tested and people can only leave their hotels after seven days of arrival. Destination weddings have also been permitted, but guests are only allowed to visit the place of the wedding. The UN World Travel Organisation’s “Responsible Tourism” mantra is reflected in India’s approach too. Last week, J&K opened up to tourists arriving by air and mandated RT-PCR tests at the airport. The UT also said travellers will have to show prior taxi and hotel bookings and will be allowed to proceed from their hotels only after they test negative for the coronavirus. While further relaxations may be in order in the coming weeks, for now, J&K has advised travellers above 65 to desist from visiting. Goa, which restarted tourism earlier in July, has announced a fresh lockdown after a spike in cases. For now, uncertainty prevails over future lockdowns and hotels were compelled to cancel bookings over the weekend. Rajasthan, which gets a substantial revenue from tourism, has seen a slow but steady resumption of tourist activities. Though key heritage monuments have opened and are seeing a trickle of tourists, with restricted train and air travel still, numbers have been far below normal.

Buddhist Tour Packages India
Tumblr media
India is home to several other religions, one of Buddhism that not only in India even beyond the borders of India, South and South East Asia. Gautam Buddha was born in Lumbini town . He began his journey in search of the answers about life and suffering. after few years of meditation, he attained ‘nirvana’ (enlightenment). Later, he preached and taught sermons, till leaving to his heavenly abode from Kushinagar.
The Buddhist Circuit Tour comprises of the four places that were extremely significant in the life of Buddha– the place where he was born, attained Enlightenment, preached first Sermon and then reached Nirvana. Lumbini, Bodhgaya, Sarnath and Kushinagar are important places in the Buddhist Circuits that are linked to the life and teachings of Lord Buddha. Along with these, there are various other important sites too where Buddha had travelled to, during his lifetime.
The teachings of Lord Buddha became popular after King Ashoka of India, embarked on a journey where he visited the important sites following the Footsteps of Lord Buddha. These places include Lumbini in Nepal and Bodhgaya, Sarnath as well as Kushinagar in India. The other important places of Buddha’s life include Vaishali, Rajgir and Sravastii (India) and his early home at Tilaurakot in Kapilvastu, Nepal.
Tumblr media
Lumbini
The birth place of Prince Siddhartha, Lumbini is situated in southern region of Nepal near Shakya, the capital of Kapilvastu. His mother was Queen Mayadevi. The major attractions here are the site of the birth of Siddhartha, the Pashkarni pond, the Mayadevi temple and the Ashoka pillar. It was in the year 1886, that an archeologist chanced upon a stone pillar, which confirmed that Lumbini was the exact place where Lord Buddha was born.
Tumblr media
Bodhgaya
Bodhgaya in Bihar is popular as that site where Prince Siddhartha found nirvana (Enlightenment) after meditating for 49 days under the Bodhi tree. After the title of a bodhisattva that is a mentor, he now became Lord Buddha, the Enlightened One. The list of important sites here include the Bodhi tree,  the Mahabodhi Temple, the Vajrasan throne donated by King Ashoka, the Muchalinda Lake, the Animesh Lochana chaitya, the Ratnagaraha, the Ajapala Nigrodha Tree, the Rajayatna Tree and the Ratnachankramana.
Tumblr media
Sarnath
Sarnath is the place where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after he attained enlightenment. It is around 10 kms from the holy city of Varanasi.  During his first sermon, Dharamchakra Privartna, beginning his wheel of the teaching, he taught his followers the 4 noble truths and the concept of the  3 jewels of Buddha- Dharma and Sangha through the 8 fold path, for attaining inner peace and enlightenment. Sarnath was the place where he founded his first disciples (sangha) for the promotion of his new doctrine. Dhamekha Stupa was erected by King Ashoka as the famous lion capital pillar, an important attraction now.
Tumblr media
Kushinagar
While on his way to Kapilvastu, in Kushinagar, near Gorakhpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Lord Buddha fell ill and left this world in 543 BC. His earthly remains had been preserved in 8 commemoration Chortens that were later furthered by King Ashoka into 84,000 Stupas all around his kingdom. Once here, visit the Mukatanabandhana Stupa and the reclining Buddha statue made up of red sandstone during of the Gupta period.
Tumblr media
Vaishali
Before passing away, Buddha had taught his last sermon at Vaishali in Bihar, around 60 kms from Patna. This was the place where he informed Ananda,  his disciple about his forthcoming death. After around 110 years, Vaishali played host to the Second Buddhist Council.
Tumblr media
Shravasti
Shravasti, popular in the form of Buddha’s favorite rainy season retreat, was also the place where he performed his first miracle. around 150 kms from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh India
Tumblr media
Rajgir and Nalanda University
Rajgir, around 70 kms from Bodhgaya, was the home of Buddha for 12 years when he was spread his principles. Up on the Gridhkuta Hill, he talked about  his principles of Lotus Sutra and the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra. The Saptaparni Caves, on Vaibhar Hill was the place where the First Buddhist Council was organized. During the events, after Buddha’s death, all his teachings were compiled. Nalanda University, a world-renowned university is another major attraction here.
